The warning was likely low fuel. When the fuel gets really low, it can cause the fuel sender unit to not register any resistance and it throws an error code. Refilling got rid of it.

Great video Mat, and very nice car. Just looked on the HPA website and noticed that all 4 tyres are essentially mixed. The rears appear to be different variants of Michelins, ie. Michelin pilot sport 3 and Michelin primacy 3, and the fronts are different Goodyears - the sizes look a bit off as well! As I’m sure you found out, you can’t just swap tyres from front to back and vice versa due to size differences. Also, I think your mechanic is being a bit cheeky with those invoices! I really respect that you put premium tyres on, but they need to be exact same variant and size on same axle - especially as your mechanic spent nearly £300! Going forward you should get the tyre delivered from camskills or similar, direct to wheel refurb place - works out much cheaper. Also, non run flats are the way to go for comfort, and getting repaired if needed!

Hi Matt, not sure if do read our comments but we still do own our BMW F10 528i and the 'Drive train' issue was detected by our mechanic by pumping generated smoke thru the intake charge piping and the engine breathing pipe and found the leak in the charge pipe near the bend and from above could hardly be seen and the other was a cheap 'O' ring seal to the engine breathing pipe. The charge pipe made of plastic was abit pricey but the other was thrown in foc.. BMW uses plastic piping to most areas in the heat of the engine !!! but my subaru they made sure this was made of metal !!!

i had a 2009 630, everyone told me not to have one as they are so expensive to maintain and run, but apart from tyres brakes and a couple of suspension rods replaced it never missed a beat for the 6 years i had it. it drank like a fish obviously but i knew that going in. This shape is really pretty, sadly I just don't drive much anymore so i can't justify having one but this looks a great model and someone will be happy at that price.

The DTM error can sometimes be because of low fuel. I test drove an F90 M5 and that happened. Dealer contacted me back after I pulled out of the deal and said that it was caused by low fuel. It happened to me again on my G02 X4 as well. These 640Ds are epically good cars. I ran an F06 LCI 640D for a year followed by and F06 M6 Gran Coupe. Beautiful cars. The 640D is a twin turbo. The drivetrain fault will come back.
It won’t throw a fault until it throws a fault.
The veins on the turbo open on high revs. They don’t shut properly and overboost happens on lower revs.
    Limp mode.
    Car off and on again.
    Rinse repeat.

As a f10 35d owner let me answer that, no you can't at 78k miles you need to get ready for an oil pump, rods and timing chain, not to mention a gearbox oil change, not to mention whatever niggly little things that might be messed up on it and all the miscellaneous stuff you need to do while you're in there such as valve cover, gaskets etc etc, if you were able to get all of that and be in the car for abt 10k (which you won't) you might sell it for 12k lol Which isn't really profitable

BMW sure do know how to charge. I'm just about to get in to a barney with a used car place. Bought a 330D M sport touring 2 weeks ago, described as mint and well looked after. To be fair, had FSH, one lady owner, MOT's all clean and had NS adaptive damper replaced in Feb as leaking. Looked good BUT a BMW inspection found the shock badly insralled, incorrect top mount fitted and OS shock now leaking and required replacementt. BMW wanted over 2 grand to replace two shocks and top mounts. Local approved BMW specialist? £1240. Booked in that week, excellent communication and valeted inside AND out (BMW only do oitside). And I thought VW took the proverbial...

At 7:13 you suggest putting the matching Goodyear from the back onto the front.
BUT they are 275s on the rear and 245s on the front a 275 won't even fit on the front.
Whilst this is slightly disappointing it is I suppose how you have got to the point of being a successful second hand car dealer.
Clean it, refurb the wheels and put it on the forecourt and if anyone asks a knowledgeable question say you have another interested buyer.

    I own a 2017 (67 reg) F30 335D with the twin scroll/turbo... 3 litre 6 cyl.
I had the same "drivetrain fault" message and it transpired to be some charge pressure converters and a few other sensors, total cost of parts was only around £150 and done under the warranty I bought with it free of charge, amongst other unrelated warranty work.
I have heard that the BMW's are quite sensitive to low battery voltage and can throw random error codes every now and then when the battery voltage dips too low. My car still has the same battery I bought it with (as a used car at 5 years old), and i've covered 42,000 miles in it in just shy of 2 years - when I test drove it the "battery low voltage" message popped up but the dealer had acquired it in August 2022 and it was parked at the very back of their lot and took him about 25 minutes just to bring it round for a test drive in December 2022, as I understand it had only been test driven once in those 4 months as everyone was going for the cheap low capacity engines to save money.
