Hi Matt. Mine is a Sept 2001 4.0 Sovereign in Emerald Green Metallic. Depending on the light, sometimes it looks like British Racing Green; sometimes it looks like Sapphire Blue. It's in great condition with only 74,000 miles on the clock and I absolutely ADORE it. So much so that when I see someone like you so enthusiastic and excited over these wonderful cars I well up with pride. There really is nothing like them. If they've been looked after from new, they're not expensive to maintain. There are loads of ebayers who supply second-hand, reconditioned and aftermarket parts.
Yours is the best YT channel there is about cars. Keep up the fabulous work.

It does deserve to be saved, but more importantly it deserves to love in your garage at home .I absolutely adore the 308 its the last of the try jags ,it's a decent car under all that dirt and I would be extremely disappointed if you moved it on for a measly profit of 1500 quid. Old Jaguars turn heads and it says a lot more about the man that drives it than an AMG ever could. Be proud of your roots ,you know you want to keep it ,and when asked what car do you drive. Old school Jaaaags like this need saving, Sir William Lyons got that profile spot on. Have driven the XJ8 years ago ( my boss used to have me drop him off at York races, get the car for the day and pick him and his pals up in the evening, happy days ). Even the X type I owned was like a 3/4 size XJ. Classic fault with the headlining drop !!. Matt please get the paint done and show us all the result. Cheers.

These were actually pretty good for reliability back in the day. They came quite close to the top in those customer satisfaction survey things. I've always liked the Ford era Jags. They seem to be the best ones to have.

@@matthewgodwin3050what are you huffing mate? Ford era jags are the worst ones by miles. For reliability it is the new ones that beats the rest, I know the modern looks aren't for the older gents tastes but are very stylish designed by Ian atleast. Loved my XF mark2 so far.

G'day from WA! As soon as I saw the title I thought 'hello, here we go'! But I agree, it's just too nice a car to let it go so well done for investing in it, although 14 months and not finished - didn't even clean the moss of it?! Must be a record! I'm looking forward to the update - please do one. I'm sure it will be a beauty when its finished. Well done Matt! You're a gem!

@johnatherton71 But the difference is that German cars sell in huge numbers and the companies that produce them are independent and profitable!
Those German sheds as you call them actually have a much higher owner retention than anything JLR makes so apparently they must be satisfying their owners well enough for them to buy another one.
Six of the top ten selling vehicles in the UK are German marques or designs.

Now the reliabilty is average at best with far too many plastic parts waiting to fail.

@Highpeakautos I once had an 09 X-Type Jag, 3.0 litre V6 it had the body kit on it, spoiler, boot lip and side skirts, it looked the business. I wish, really, I'd kept it and spent a little on it to keep it looking good, but I found that there was always some little thing that needed a pound or two and for a daily runner, it wasn't viable. GREAT story and the best description for that XJ "Regal"

I adore its looks and it’s admired by everyone that sees it. The 4.0 V8 really goes when you put your foot down, and what a noise! Bottom of the depreciation curve, getting rarer in good nick and a sound investment imho.
