As a huge fan of Kendrick's, I'm a little conflicted. It would've been a cool thing for Wayne to perform at the halftime show in his hometown, especially with him being a legacy artist. However, Kendrick is a phenomenal performer and I know he'll put on an amazing show.
A man wanted a job, the company decided they wanted to go with someone else who, frankly on paper, makes much more sense. That's all that happened. Superbowl performance isn't an industry award, its not promised to any person after any specific milestone. A corporation chooses a performer for their event. Saying Wayne got snubbed is ridiculous
Its most likely all coming from New Orleanians. We have a historical chip on our shoulder for being the birthplace of all American music and never getting real acknowledgement from American popular culture. There's another part of it too where New Orleans artists might be way more talented and more innovative than anyone in pop culture, but hardly any of them make it out of New Orleans onto the national stage, so when someone does, its a big deal and we are all super proud of them. There's a third part too, when Wayne was having his most unstoppable time, from 2006-2009 or so, New Orleans was recovering from Katrina. You couldn't go anywhere without hearing him and it became a funny and sly soundtrack to a really intense and trying time for everybody. ......And the other thing is there is no way in hell Wayne would have been invited to do the superbowl in 2007. The NFL was waaaaaaaaaaay too square. So it would have been a way of acknowledging that Wayne's music shifted the culture in his own hometown. All of those reasons are why it felt like a snub.
Beefs can be great for a career. This beef definitely elevated Kendrick to rapper of the year while hurting Drake's. Kendrick deserve this superbowl spot. Love em or hate em Drake needs to take a year off
Blud can’t even remember his own lyrics. I can get it going on tour but this is international. Bro is gonna be so Fried he ain’t gonna get to the stage

If the Super Bowl Halftime Show focuses on choosing an artist that represents a city that is hosting the big game, The Who wouldn't have performed at Miami in 2010 since the band is from London, Beyonce should have performed in Houston, Texas instead of Lady Gaga and Shakira shouldn't have performed in Super Bowl LIV in Miami since she's from Colombia. Overall, Kendrick Lamar derived this because he is on top of the world right now.

When I went to New Orleans a few months back, people were blasting ’not like us’ from their push bikes. New Orleans loves Kendrick and Kendrick loves lil Wayne. I guarantee you that Kendrick is going to bring out wayne during the show.
How much y’all wanna bet Kendrick will try to bring Wayne out at the show? Don’t forget, before Kendrick ever dropped GKMC, Section 80, and OD, he dropped C4 which was an attempt to take the hottest album out (The Carter 3) and to re-do it. The first big break anyone from TDE got was when Jay Rock had Wayne featured in All My Life. Kendrick and Wayne’s connection goes back quite a bit. Knowing Kendrick, (it could even contribute to his pettiness in the Drake beef,) he’s probably going to try to bring Wayne out. Unless it’s unable to be made done, due to the beef or maybe hurt feelings.
Blacky you're starting to get obsessed with age/youth and it's getting irritating. Stop it. Gen Z right now are 14 to 29 years old. That age group doesn't buy Super bowl tickets. The average age of a Super Bowl ticket buyer is 45 years old. The average age of a Super Bowl TV viewer is 49. This is why you have 37 year old Kendrick Lamar performing and not BONES or Silverback. Again, Kendrick is peaking right now, in 2024 and plenty of people over 40 are into Kendrick. Wayne peaked in 2011 and even people over 40 are not as into him anymore, that's why Hove went with Kendrick .
@@iamcase1245 Gen Z is not 14 to 29 lol. 26 is as high as Gen Z goes. Then it's millennial. But I agree. Kendrick is the best option. He pretty much hits all the age demographics, since everyone is listening to not like us.
@@myjciskate4 Hahaha lol NO. 26 means the oldest Gen Z was born in 1998 and that's bullshit. There are different ranges but the first range from years ago was 1995, I personally believe Gen Z starts in 1996 because Millennials are 1980 to 1995 and cusps are mathematically wrong. But 1997 and 1998 for millennials is WAY to far. That would mean Gen Z ends in 2013? That doesn't make sense.
@@iamcase1245 Actually, generational boundaries aren't as fixed as you're making them out to be. Most major research groups like Pew Research define Gen Z as starting in 1997, not 1995 or 1996. This isn't just random. It's based on major shifts in technology and culture (like the rise of the internet and smartphones). As for Millennials, Pew also defines them as being born from 1981 to 1996, which means those born in '96 are the youngest Millennials-not 1995. So, saying they 'must' end in '95 is just a personal opinion, not backed by real data. And about Gen Z ending in 2013-it does make sense. Younger Gen Zers grew up fully immersed in digital tech, while Generation Alpha (starting around 2013) is even more shaped by new immersive tech environments. There's no 'mathematical' rule for cusps-generational lines are based on cultural shifts, not hard numbers.
@@myjciskate4 I just said they're not fixed and there have been different ranges, also I've heard about the pew shit over and over again . Stay off of reddit. 1998 is too young to be the start of Gen Z. Period. That would mean a "generation" is only 12 years and that's impossible. Generations have always been ranges of 20 years, but in the modern era we've agreed to 15 because things now change so fast. I acknowledge that. However, you can say opinion can cause a sway to argue Gen Z starts between 1995, 1996 .. But 1997 is pushing it. 1998? No way in hell. Most people who push Gen Z to start in 1997 and even to 2000 ( which is insane) are just Zoomers who are embarrassed of Gen Z's bullshit so they want to be millennials, or younger post-2000 zooomers who dont want to associate with pre-2000 zoomers. Cusps are literally mathematical term. Age is a function and functions can only have one answer per year. You can't 7 days ago was both 7 days ago and 8 days ago. That's what a cusp is. A Cusp is where the continuation between one value of x is not defined because the slope is zero or has more than one value - this is a mathematical error and can't be used in a function. A cusp is when a value of y goes from one value to another with no continuous or smooth movement. So if you allow cusps in generationalism you're allowing two different generations to claim the same year. That's a mathematical error since you can't be of 2 generations at once. Hence why it's called a cusp.
@@iamcase1245 I understand your perspective, but there are a few misunderstandings here. You’re right that generational boundaries aren’t fixed. The consensus among researchers like Pew Research is based on sociocultural shifts, not arbitrary rules. You mention that generations typically span 20 years, but in recent times, many have agreed that 15 years is more realistic given how rapidly society changes. Defining Gen Z as starting in 1997 reflects these sort ofmodern dynamics, especially with how technology has transformed life for those born in that year. The concept of a 'cusp' can be applied to generational definitions, even if it’s not a mathematical function in the traditional sense. It’s about recognizing that people born near the transition often share traits from both generations. This isn’t a mathematical error. It’s a way of acknowledging the complexity of identity in modern society. The assertion that those who identify with Gen Z starting in 1997 do so out of embarrassment is a bit dismissive. Many researchers support this definition based on cultural context, not just personal feelings. All in all, generations are social constructs that help us understand shifts in behaviors and attitudes, so while opinions may differ, relying on research and historical context provides a much clearer framework than personal biases.
Y’all don’t get it, I could put money down saying Kendrick won’t perform any of his recent disses just to be petty and give drake no more spotlight basically calling him irrelevant
Kendrick has had an insane year and the NFL picks artists based on current relevancy, marketability, achievements, etc. As Blacky said, it just wasn't Lil Wayne's time this year, not saying he doesn't deserve it though, but picking Kendrick made sense based on this year.
I'm from NOLA & people only making a big deal out of it bc of the Kendrick v Drake beef. Wayne is the literal goat but why didn't he perform any of the other times we hosted the SB? Tbh he not in his prime like before and that's fine but people need to stop putting Dot & Wayne against each other
I don’t blame Lil Wayne for being disappointed. I hope he’s able to do it at some point. He def deserves it, but I think Kendrick did something great this year so it makes sense why he was chosen.
I’m personally not a big fan of hip hop and rap, especially the mumble stuff, I grew up listening to Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, and Nate Dog with Warren G and then Eminem came along and blew everyone out of the water for me except for Tupac because that man was a poet but Kendrick Lamar isn’t just a rapper, he’s an Artist, a genuine artist who is humble and honest and his music brings back the memories I have of the great 1990s of Rap when it was one of the best eras. Kendrick for me is an all the time listen, because he wears so many hats in the industry. His songs have meaning and power behind them like Tupacs did. In my opinion Kendrick is a breath of fresh air after all these artists who sound the same and promote the same stereo typical black mans biggest faults. Kendrick on the other hand shows that a true man black or whatever race is faithful, true to his word and gives a voice to the voiceless. I am a huge fan of Kendrick Lamar’s because he deserves the recognition and respect for the art he creates.
This topic about whether Wayne should've been picked instead of Kendrick is ending friendships for real like there are people that I know who got into heated arguments about this to a point where they weren't friends anymore like giving each other silent treatment 😂😂😂
It is definitely a bummer, especially since Kendrick has already been at a Super Bowl halftime show, but it definitely is a move that makes sense. Also I’m not sure about the image part, I believe that Jay z never considered him cuz of ___
I kind of feel bad for Lil Wayne just because I bet he didn't intend for this blowback. He was just voicing frustration. He can't control his fans' reactions, so I don't put any of it on him. It's more or less like, "Damn, didn't get the job I was totally qualified for..." and your friends not knowing all the details went, "Yeah, screw that company, they suck! You deserved it!" But in reality, the other candidate just had the right resume. Doesn't mean jack to Wayne's worth. This just wasn't the venue nor the time given his resume. He's got a better fit elsewhere and knowing neither Kdot or Wayne, I suspect at the very least, Kendrick is probably not feeling happy that Wayne felt snubbed. Just a hunch.
Wayne while disappointed is not a dumb guy. He is well aware why he wasn’t chosen at this moment. I think he took it on the chin, took responsibility then went on to thank his fans. You can’t invalidate his feelings, but he knows and he said it. Someone else just said it below these people are my age. 35,36-45 years rs old. Are they serious? The substances keeping people stuck in time warps seen it so many times. Their growth stunted just like Wayne ‘s daddy (I’m a goof). Brittany Spears another one. I can’t imagine. I love Wayne but blonde dreads tatted up face, and that energy doesn’t age well. That’s not a black, white, yellow, tan, freckle thing. If I was in tanning booth, wearing, glitter, doc martins, raver pants, brown lipstick with heavy liner I’d expect someone to say oh were you in that movie Bully or Kids? How was the rave this weekend? Some of us made some pretty bad decisions but gotta own them and evolve. Wayne knows it he just in his feelings about it.

As a huge fan of Kendrick's, I'm a little conflicted. It would've been a cool thing for Wayne to perform at the halftime show in his hometown, especially with him being a legacy artist. However, Kendrick is a phenomenal performer and I know he'll put on an amazing show.
His home town had the final say after a shortlist was selected by NFL and Roc-Nation. They picked Kendrick.
A man wanted a job, the company decided they wanted to go with someone else who, frankly on paper, makes much more sense. That's all that happened. K.dot’s talent is unmatched
Since when have we cared about a performer performing at the super-bowl in their city? It’s giving crabs in the bucket.

Great video! You hit all of the key core points. Well done! 👏🏽
This has absolutely nothing to do with ANYTHING outside of MONEY, profitability. Define a business, that’s what’s happening here.
