“Hip hop, a black art form, that was started with the sole purpose to empower young black Americans has unfortunately been used by the music industry as a tool to further propagate that very thing black women and men have been fighting against.” Essentially hip hop lived long enough to see itself become the villain
This. Nowadays, I find myself wondering if the insane growth and popularity of gangsta rap in the first place was organic. Did it become popular because its more accessible and "cool" to the average consumer. Or was gangsta rap intentionally promoted and propped up as a propoganda device to further negative stereotypes and glorify criminal behavior. Is gangsta rap a fucking psyop?
I lacked the proper words to describe this, well said and true. MLK, Tupac and Biggie Smalls are all rolling in their graves hearing this. Oh, how we’ve disappointed them in so many ways…
Sexy Redd calling other Black people "carpet heads" is reminiscent of Cardi B referring to dark skin fans as Cockroaches or Eggplants....keep that in mind.
What!!!!!!! She called them what!!!!!!!!!!! Wtf!....I can't believe what I just read. I not see nothing sexy about her at all...she more trashy . No class at all.
It's honestly because black people internalize racism to the point they have insecurity about being black. Black people care way more about being black than white people care about them being black. Black women for some reason try to embrace things that make them more closely resemble white women, black men have dreams of creating empires and generational wealth, etc, because they are raised to think white people hold them back, white people are where it's at, white people got the power, white people is what you are when you "make it." So once they rise above their bad circumstances, they start to look down on those other poc, because they've internalized that racism they believed was out there, to the point that they hate themselves and their own people for not being white. It's a self hatred thing that frankly comes from the black community itself. They think about us being racist WAY more than we think about them at all. I guess in hip hop terms, black people are haters. Insecure, and acting out because of it. Not to say racism doesn't exist, but the extent to which black people think the world is actively holding them down and hating them is a fairy tale they tell themselves and then they let it rule their life. Probably literally everyone will be too caught up in emotion and reaction to see I'm 100% right about this.
Cardi B said that??? Wtfff 🫠 Edit: I looked it up and she said roaches, not cockroaches… referring to a burnt blunt. She also said she’s called herself that too
She's a real life boondocks character. We were supposed to laugh when that first clip dropped and then forget. There've been so many just like her that came before but none have seen this level of fame and popularity.
I kind of think she’s sent to lower the bar for what we thing a BW should be. And if you question it, then you are “against BW”. I think it might possibly be linked to the presidential election. So if you question her, you are going against BW. I imagine that she won’t be as popular before after the election is over
The sad thing is Hollywood sent her for the black communities. It's mainly aim at the black youth, the babies, toddlers, teenagers, young aðults and some adults rock with this type too.

I attended an HBCU as a student and it is saddening that “performers” like her are deemed more of a role model than Dame Shirley Bassey, Ella Fitzgerald and Etta James. My wife is African-American and we’ve already agreed our future children will NOT be permitted to listen to her music. There are so many talented musicians in the black community who don’t stoop to this level of debauchery

Sexy Red isn't the first black female rap artist that's been used in this manner. There were several before her, such as Lil' Kim, Trina, and Nicky Minaj, to name a few. Their lyrics and performances were just as filthy. The only difference is Sexy Red is being marketed as the ghetto baby momma. Those others were more "classed up" if you will. In God's eyes, it's all the same.
I was gonna call her the “washed up 22yo Section 8 living WIC baby raising” type… ghetto baby mama sounds way nicer. An every public housing development has at least one of these types. I gotta disagree with Nicki Minaj being classified with the rest of the rhyming strippers. Nicki raps about EVERYTHING & she’s good at it.
99% of Nicki’s music is not as explicit as Red’s and Nicki still explicitly said kids should not be listening to all of her music. Red told a teacher to play Pound Town for five year olds. These are the same to you?
This style of content is a huge improvement from your older stuff, would love to see more of this type of “mini documentary” type content, even if it less frequent.
Her music is just the female version of what other rappers talk about. Vulgar, violent, etc if we talk about the effect she has on the youth then we should also talk about what majority of rappers talk about as well
This is why someone like you is ignorant yes it’s the same as other rappers yet is still doesn’t make it a right thing just like how here in nyc every young nigga wants to be a drill rapper and gets involved in gang violence and usually how a lot young niggas get killed which drill promotes stuff like that.Just cause they do it doesn’t mean that it can’t have a negative affect. If you’re telling me sexy redd is good for the youth then again we live in ignorant times
Well, tbh, original gangster rap wasn’t so much glorifying the behavior as lamenting that they felt forced into it. That’s the difference. Sexy Red isn’t out here talking about how she wishes she could make it out the hood because she feels forced into criminal activity and slutty behavior. She’s out here glorifying it and acting like it’s the high life, which makes kids want it, they begin aspiring to be that. But the gangster rap that DOES glorify it is definitely on the same level and should face the same criticism.
@@Gnosis639exactly. We been saying how gangsta rap destroyed us for decades. Only is it when we mention a female rapper, all of a sudden do you get this pushback. They only care when it’s about a female, then these same people will tell you to talk about male rappers 🤦🏽♂️. Then when you do, they don’t care. Like wtf
Sexy red is the example of why children shouldn't be exposed to sexual content. It has shown that kids being exposed to sexual things have negative consequences. This can even cause them to be taken advantage of as they're too young to know that these stuff shouldn't be done as kid and becoming overly hyper sexual isn't truly normal and is a thing of concern especially if they're underage. Theres already an issue of the over Sexualization of young black girls, acting like younger black girls are naturally hyper sexual which is gross already. And people are starting to blur the line to whats olay and not to expose to children just cause they want to be exposed to it and dont think it'll effect kids at all. But even afult black women have this issue where media treat them more like a sex object and something to be sexualized because media and these fans treats black women like this. They feel like an object to sexualize instead of a person which is sad to see and sad to see the community push. Ive met many who are nerdy and dont fit these boxes that they get treated as not black enough and the community claims black people don't do these things usually involving nerdy hobbies Making people so disconnected. Its gross that people are pushing these stereotypes and not allowing people to embrace themselves cause being black has a typing i guess. Ive seen so many claim they've been told they're not seen as black enough cause they dont act like these characters. The issue isn't just white people in the music industry but also black people who think this is what black is and push these stereotypes cause to them thats whats black and it sucks cause i know the community has enough issue of feeling like they don't feel like they fit in and now these types of people are making it worse by treating being black as a certain way of acting rather then the color of your skin and loving who you are. Maybe cause the black girls ive been friends with were always very nerdy and didn't fit thr body type you see in thr industry, I've always noticed they were treated like they're not part of their own culture just cause they dont fit in a stereotypes was always sad to see. Im not white either but i always noticed being "too white" being pasted around and it always annoyed me that it was usually associated with polite things and being respectful cause why wouldn't you want to associated yourself with that and i always hated it cause it felt like they were saying none whites have to be rude, loud, inconsiderate, dumb. I don't think we can keep blaming white people if our own people keep pushing this issue too. It kind of bothers me when poc keep blaming whites for things poc people keep spreading. Yes it is a problem that white people painted this certain picture of pocs but its also an issue that we keep spreading it like this is who we are. Cause we didn't have to follow the issue white people kept pointing out and yet here we are. Causing our own issues and yet doing all we can to blame everyone else but ourselves.
I love how everyone casually just continues on his page like dude didn't wake up from youtube coma And i LOVE IT. HAHAHAHA. WELCOME BACK BLACK BOIIIII ✊️
There’s been a big shift in R&B music too… for the last few weeks, I’ve stuck to mainly listening to music from the 70s- early 90s, and I feel like my mindset & outlook has been a lot brighter
The industry has been at work to enable mainstream artist like sexyy red to exist for decades and decades. Its just becoming alot worse and apparent now
The fact that Kindergarteners are asking to listen to "Pound Town" shows the mentality of their parents. I'm quite sure those kids have no idea what Sexyy Red is referencing in the song. They just hear music that their mothers listen to and like, and then they emulate the behavior. I'm not saying that I approve of them listening to the song, but I think that teacher was overreacting.
i don’t think she was overreacting only cause that song is very explicit and for children to want to listen to that (for whatever reason), instead of…children music, it’s upsetting. children are pure, yet these little girls wanna listen to something explicit and point blank sexual. i’m sure it’s shocking for her, because in all honesty it’s sad. stuff like that causes children to grow up quickly mentally. i don’t think any of us would want our kids to be listening to stuff like that. it’d be a problem if you didn’t care though, and that would make you part of the problem.
@JokerGamin67 she wasn't but why is she blaming Sexy? Was she purposefully pushing it on children? Do we have to censor everything so children don't see it? I mean I grew up with some pretty crazy stuff as a 2000's kid.
I love how people ignore 30+years of gangster rap, drill, killing, murder, drugs, but as soon as rappers start talking about their cats it's the end of the world 😂. Thats not even new either!
Stole the words right out of my mouth. Is sexxy red an awful influence to women specifically black women? Of course but the toxicity that male rappers have displayed and normalized over the past 20+ years is by far worse. And as far it does with kids singing her song, that's no difference from what my generation did. We were in 6th grade singing lollipop and every girl by lil Wayne word from word 🤷🏾♂️
He aint ignore it, hella ppl been talking about it future for example even blacky spoke on it. At the end of the day its on the individual to filter this stuff out of there lives and to not allow it to negatively influence them.
Right. What she speaks raps about is wrong ofc but we like to ignore the influence violence in rap has on the youth as well just because we like the music 😂
I don’t get why female rappers get more criticism and scrutiny. If Sexy Redd is a bad influence on young girls, what makes male rappers to young males? Unfortunately it’s a man’s world, but I don’t like the double standard.
@@Technicalectasy fair take, personally i think people should be allowed to sing about whatever they want, but don’t encourage kids to listen to it or emulate it 😭

I appreciate your synopsis of how "suggestive" / "bad" music content can lead to bad outcomes. It's funny because as I watch this video, it became increasingly clear that this is not just a sexy red issue. This is an issue of a corrupt system. Sexy red is only conveying what she was taught and what she's learned to be true throughout her life. She's a victim of exploitation as well, although she does reap some benefits. The oversexualized music content does perpetuate stereotypes of black people. And the crazy part is, if you don't want your kids being like that as a black person or if you don't allow them to listen to that, You're known as being square in the hood. It's a tragedy. But that's a conversation for another day. Long story short Job well done allowing us to see the behind the scenes of why music affects people, how oversexualized content perpetuates stereotypes, and how the industry is genuinely corrupt and targets at risk young people.
As an older woman I've always wondered what the parents & grandparents feel when their love ones make these disrespectful songs..... All I can come up with is the rapper/singer never had respect for them in real life! "For the love of money is the root of evil"....

Sick society we live in.

I'm not saying that I approve of them listening to the song, but I think that teacher was overreacting.
the teacher was not over reacting
im thinking the same, Im not gonna blame the prn Indsutry my dog is hella freaky around my plushies just because LMAO
i don’t think she was overreacting only cause that song is very explicit and for children to want to listen to that (for whatever reason), instead of…children music, it’s upsetting. children are pure, yet these little girls wanna listen to something explicit and point blank sexual. i’m sure it’s shocking for her, because in all honesty it’s sad. stuff like that causes children to grow up quickly mentally. i don’t think any of us would want our kids to be listening to stuff like that. it’d be a problem if you didn’t care though, and that would make you part of the problem.
@JokerGamin67 she wasn't but why is she blaming Sexy? Was she purposefully pushing it on children? Do we have to censor everything so children don't see it? I mean I grew up with some pretty crazy stuff as a 2000's kid.
Right like how is that Sexxy Red's fault? She made the song, she didn't push it to children.

Stop being white
Thank you, 30 minutes on this is fucking insane lmao. No smoke for the murderers and creeps of the industry?
He aint ignore it, hella ppl been talking about it future for example even blacky spoke on it. At the end of the day its on the individual to filter this stuff out of there lives and to not allow it to negatively influence them.
Right. What she speaks raps about is wrong ofc but we like to ignore the influence violence in rap has on the youth as well just because we like the music 😂
as a young black girl, the people i considered my friends showed me the leaked vid of sexxy red, i was traumatized.
I don’t get why female rappers get more criticism and scrutiny. If Sexy Redd is a bad influence on young girls, what makes male rappers to young males? Unfortunately it’s a man’s world, but I don’t like the double standard.
literally everyone w a brain cell thinks modern gangster rap is a problem for young men as well👍
@@Technicalectasy fair take, personally i think people should be allowed to sing about whatever they want, but don’t encourage kids to listen to it or emulate it 😭
to be fair I don't think it's better when men do it either

Thats what im saying. The dam hypocrisy.
Lil Wayne rapped about p**** in damn near all his songs 2004-2010 😂 I was in elementary definitely shouldn’t have been listening to that
Nah it's the parents job to teach morals and values. They should be explaining them why behavior like hers is dangerous. Famous ppl are not responsible for raising your children
It's a community effort. Kids are influenced by their peers. Especially when it comes to music as they grow into older
Her and ice spice falling off is long overdue.
Bro finally remembered he’s blackyspeakz welcome back goat
I love this channel bro just drops when he wants without making a fuss about why he hasn’t been dropping without all the drama and we get right back into it
I appreciate your synopsis of how "suggestive" / "bad" music content can lead to bad outcomes.
There is no machine. This is what hiphop culture created. The crowd was loving nasty so they just got nastier and nastier.
Blacky finally speaks again
And After a 4month Hiatus..
WELCOME BACK LIKE YOU NEVER LEFT MY BRUTHA BLACKY!!! ✊🏾💯
YOU WERE MISSED 🙇🏾♂️✨
he's back 🤯🤯
As an older woman I've always wondered what the parents & grandparents feel when their love ones make these disrespectful songs.....
All I can come up with is the rapper/singer never had respect for them in real life!
"For the love of money is the root of evil"....
Don’t let us bullying you get to you bruh. You built a crazy RUclips career that’s better imo than what we think about your music. I’m glad you’re back
Loser generation wont stop bullying people until they off themselves. GenZ is terrible. Glad he's back too.
@@LowProductionValues-fj2nu Bullying isn’t just a GenZ thing. Bullying been around for decades! The only difference is that there wasn’t no social media back then.
@@LowProductionValues-fj2nuMillenials want to bring bullying BACK, I don't think we are the only generation that have jerks
Only low lives bully.
@@deuce9star This online bullying shit is NOT millennials. We used to get our a** kicked in SCHOOL. Not online 24/7, tracking family members, literally tearing down a human's entire social card. You can't even overcome this crap, back then you just had to man up and punch whoever hit you back, now you have entire armies dedicated to making people want to off themselves. Forgive the venting. Just hating the internet as we know it these days.
31:13 great video! This hit the WHOLE problem (systemic etc) correctly. You’re wise for your age and you recognize the BIG picture. Respect
Blame her and the parents... My kids don't know this woman Harpo...
Neither does mine. And if she turned up at his school she’ll have a law suit. These kids have bad parents
The fact that she went to a school is horrible. But It’s not her fault that kids listen to her music, how about people watch their kids better and stop just leaving them a tablet or phone to watch them. I hate when people blame celebrities and treat them like they are supposed to censor themselves because children are listening to them for some reason. stop treating them like they are supposed to be role models. This is a parenting issue not a celebrity one
😂 bro I’m dead already “I’m coming back around” 😂😭 0:22
Thank you, Sexyy Redd, you brought back BlackySpeakz to us.
The prodigal son has returned. Glad you are doing well.
An young woman over 25 who still listens to sexy redd and glorrila songs and is heavily addicted to the songs then thats a huge red flag..run!
Gorilla don't rap about or promote what sexy red does
This probably one of your best videos to me. Very educational and thoughtful. Some might not see it but this is deep!
Bro I saw the notification on my phone and clicked it so fast lol. Glad to see you back.
You know how long I’ve been waiting for this.
wooimabouttomakeanameformyselfhere
Her label wouldn’t sell her product if people didn’t buy it. That’s a free market. It’s not as nefarious as u try to make it seem. If black people listened mostly gospel then record labels would try to sell gospel. No one’s forcing anyone to listen to any music. Take responsibility
Except they had to cancel her tour/concerts because no one is buying tickets. The thing about her being a role model to kids is, their parents have to still approve of her content. Considering no one is buying her tickets...speaks volumes. There are other things you are wrong about, but I agree with everything else.
I appreciate you dropping this knowledge to the masses young brother! Keep going.
