oh. my. god. I spent DAYS trying to figure this out. and you post the solution now. I am so am so grateful I could cry right now but also feel robbed of my time lmaooo
After running around with my pants on fire trying to figure out what I was doing wrong you put out the fire. Many thanks for a brilliant video with instructions that make sense and actually work.. Power to you.
Hello, I have been looking for a solution for days and have tried everything possible. Thank you very much for the good instructions. Now it finally works. Knowledge is the only thing that increases when you share it.
NOTE: Make sure you download the same exact version for both VMware Workstation and the modules... If the versions are not matching, it may not work (at least, it didn't for me). VMware Workstation latest version is already at 17.6+ but the modules haven't been updated since 17.5.1, so again, download the older version and then, update it once everything is working as intended.
in the last command of --install-all the last lines that in the video appear as "Done", to me the "Virtual machine monitor" and "Virtual ethernet" appear as "Failed", I continued with the video and everything came out the same, only that unlike the video that the last part in the welcome was the customer experience, in mine I got a window on whether I had a license or needed one, I checked the I need one, and I gave finish and opened normal, I do not know if these differences are normal.
First of all, thank you, it worked perfectly :) I am curious to see if the same error occurs after an update. With the other solutions I tried, the error always came back after an update.
Hey, is there an idea to do something in between with KDE Plasma? For example, make it something between Windows, MacOS, and Chrome OS! It will be interesting to see such a creation. Also use icons in the style of neomorphism. Glassomorphism is still a topic. Directly style at maximum! Eh, Windows 7 recalls only in a modern role.
Virtual machine monitor failed Virtual machine communication interface done VM communication interface socket family done Virtual ethernet failed VMware Authentication Daemon done Unable to start services any help plz ??
@@4dillusions you are right ! I just recently removed it in favor of Virtual Box. VMware kept radomlly freezing my PC and not letting the PC complete the shutdown process
Hello, I can't install the free vmware version. Each time I install vmware-workstation on my Ubuntu 24.04, it goes directly to the commercial version without giving me a choice. I tried it several times, after several system restarts without success. I am asking for your help with my problem.
I had the same problem. I found a file under /etc/vmware starting with string "license-ws" which is indeed related to the license. I removed VMware and deleted that file. After a reinstall I was finally able to get the prompt to choose between commercial or personal license. Not sure if the reinstall is needed, I discovered that file after that. sudo vmware-installer --uninstall-component=vmware-workstation sudo rm /etc/vmware/license-ws-170-e3-202208
Thank you so much my friend, but for those people that don't have the folder vmware/modules/source just type this command obviously is just create it: └─# sudo mkdir -p /usr/lib/vmware/modules/source

Bro, why don't you copy the commands in the description?
Because then you would not use his probably shady scripts in his Github.
First of all, thank you, it worked perfectly :)

any help plz ??
are u sure that u download the 17.5.1 version of VMware Workstation?
its work , thx
thanks ☺️
life saver❤
The latest 17.6 is installed without any issues or the need to fix the modules.
(Update ! DO not use 17.6... it is buggy)
VMware 17.6.0 on Ubuntu 24.04 makes the machine unstable because of 6.8 kernel. You can use 17.5.2.

Make sure you download VMware workstation pro installer from website support.broadcom.com/. If you download from VMware official it need key license

It doesn't work like that anymore. They ask for a ton of personal info before downloading
Then you have the right to lie to them.
شكرا جزيلا :)
I have ubuntu but it does'n work.
VMware 17.6 is not working. It only works with 17.5.2.
Obrigado!
Not working anymore
sudo apt install curl git gcc-12 libgcc-12-dev build-essential linux-headers-$(uname -r) -y
I see and got nothing 😂 what are to do ????
Thank you so much my friend, but for those people that don't have the folder vmware/modules/source just type this command obviously is just create it:
└─# sudo mkdir -p /usr/lib/vmware/modules/source
