Very helpful thanks. I installed Ubuntu 24 on an old intel macbook which was so sluggish I was unable to use it, now it is flying super happy with Ubuntu.
My laptop's hdmi wasnt working properly (showing my workspace on 50% of the screen and the other 50% was a solid white block) and I have a GeForce RTX 2050. So, I selected the nvidia (proprietary, tested) driver and this problem was solved! Thanks a lot!
About *DNS* 1. Ubuntu 24.04 is supposed to ship with Unbound recursive & caching resolver. 2. Most regard *quad9* as a nore secure DNS resolver than Google or Cloudflare. It is DNSSEC verifying.
Wow, you're amazing! You even solved my problems about amd64 where my graphic card is not supported anymore so I had damaged packages and I couldn't install any program by terminal. All started when I've tried installing directly version 24.04 but with no success, so after installed 22 I've updated to 24 but there demaged packs came through. Now it's all fixed and all works properly with my actual Ubuntu 24.04, and I can install what I want! Thank you!
10/10 I was able to do most of the steps but I wish I had this couple days ago when I switched to Linux from windows. The first thing I did when I installed Gnome tweaks was change the cursor theme 😭😭😭 I was able to fix it by entering some type of mode and resetting gnome configs to default. So sad
Hey man really good video👏👍 my personal first thing to do is to remove snap and dont forget to block it for reinstallation. Snap really started to annoy me a lot, it feels like Microsoft would behave .... You can replace snap with flat (even if i am not super happy with flat also).
I have just installed Ubuntu 24.04 LTS but the app store is not working, as soon as you open the app store it closes, I have watched a few videos on you tube on how to remedy the problem but they all failed, I did initially upgrade but that was a disaster and the programs kept freezing so i did a fresh install, now the app store does not work, any ideas on how to fix the problem?
Idea behind operating system is to be used , not to do '20 things' after you installed ! To be convenient OTB! There is plenty of linux distros that are most usable OTB !
Great video @linuxtex. Question for you though. Under Gnome Tweaks section of the video, you mention DON'T touch the mouse cursor customization. That it is a HUGE bug and known issue, that it can cause Ubuntu to crash and break and doesn't boot back up. Well, I found this out on my own last night. I just found this video today and I'm glad I found it, because I was wondering WHAT IN THE H*LL just happened?!?!?! Then my next question was and is, so HOW are we supposed to change the mouse cursor packages if you can't do it through Gnome Tweaks?
I appreciate where this is coming from, but really a lot of these things are not good advice. In fact, some of the defaults get removed when you try to install a lot of the stuff and some of those defaults are actually better than what you're trying to install since it's optimized for the OS. Again, I know you mean well and I know it's coming from the right place.
Thank you for sharing this information. But please slow down when you’re talking. It sounds like your voice is overtaking you all the time…. It is very difficult to understand.
why are you using apt to install packages that can be gotten from the application store? isn't it easier to manage your apps when the majority are all in one place rather than having some in apt which you have to manually update and other in the app store that auto check for updates
For some reason Ubuntu is very slow on my laptop while Windows is buttery smooth. Also, I am tired of one day booting to find out that 'files' is no longer responding forever and another reinstall is required. In Linux world, there are no fixes to issues, just work arounds
Thks. I used blender on my Ubuntu 24.04 but my rx 7800xt doesn't works with cycles (hip). When i tried to install rocm, hip there are issues. Could you see and make a video about that?
I have a hardware of fingerprint authentication but after installing ubuntu 24.04 LTS it is not working. Also, please provide solution for the use of Wi-Fi Hotspot simultaneously.
Yeah you can go ahead and install tlp if you need that extra battery life. But i don't think you need auto cpufreq. you can just use power modes in the status menu.

You have certainly a point, there are reasons why so many hate snap. For me its all about monopoly. Canonical tries a bit MS strats😉 Another good reason is performance. Install arch and compare app installation speeds, a huge difference!

there are some bugs in Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, I advise all of to wait. Meanwhile you can try 22.04.3 it's pretty stable.

From what I heard you can already install .deb apps from the snap store, so there's no need to use the terminal
it's right
you can do it either way but i faced some problems while installing apps from snap store (app doesnt even open) so i prefer the terminal installation

Crazy to see that someone suggesting Chrome on a Linux like nothing
there are many lightly browsers :dillo, lillo ...

It brings some codecs with it for prime video or netflix.
