I feel like it's one of those examples where less is more. The simplicity of a classic kitchenaid is so much better. I dont need all the tech in something like that and just creates more points of failure. The built in scale also seems to be less useful than a dedicated kitchen scale.
Amy if I'm going to spend $1,000 on a machine I want that scale to work within a tenth of a gram. Being a retired chef and Baker I never understood why Sally homemaker still uses that dip and scrape method for flour grams are just more accurate
Thank you for watching and your comment. I guess when it comes to home baking, they don't make machines that are smaller (but comparable in features) to the commercial ones you use in a bakery. I don't know what they were thinking of. But it is a very heavy machine (for it's size), so hopefully it can knead heavier doughs. That would be nice.
I'm thinking maybe they could have some sort of a container on the side that prevents the ingredients from going into the bowl unless the measurement is the right amount. Cause what they got now isn't going to cut it.
Thank you for watching. I think Amy was referencing a previous video for weight, vs volume in that if you want to convert up or down, it's easy. We did a 14 pound dough test in the Bosch Universal mixer by scaling up (a lot) and it worked. But yeah, if we are used to measuring cups, then it's hard to reason why to change.
The video was SO TIREING. turn on and off and on and off. Indeed with my heart i don't like ge mixer. I had the opportunity to watch the first video and i could realize that you had to scrash 3 o 4times for helping the mixer to cream. What kind of machine is that. Well, i enjoy all your videos and your vivid humor in all of them. Big hug dears. Javier
Thank you very much Javier for watching. We really appreciate it. This mixer has certainly not proven much to us so far. I'm sorry this video was so tiring. But it is what it is. That feature was not very user-friendly. We're glad you enjoy our videos and keep watching.
@@EricLearnstoCook No, no, no, no. Don't think that was because of you, no, no, no...! It was 'cos i couldn't see what it was happening to the dough. Looking at Amy turning on and off and on and off and on... and scale's reset, reset, reset, reset and see your wife's face frustration, well it was like fighting against a machine that never gave the expected result to you. But i always watch your videos 'cos Amy's funny but professional at the same time. Thanks to your videos, i could choose a mixer for my kitchen that makes me happy 'cos it prepares whatever i want and i feel that i save time. Thanks for answer. Javier from Mérida-Venezuela
Not a good system. I do not think it measures what is stuck on the beater, unless it is taking 2 measurements at once. Then there is the "over pour", how do you remove something from the mix??? Great video as always. Thank you for testing this mixer.
I spent that money on a thermomix which weighs in 1gram increments plus it cooks blends omg so may different things and has guided recipes no way would I pay for this mixer
The mixer looks cool looking, but the built-in scale seems useless to me. And there are some recipes like meringue that requires to have it on when adding sugar, a tablespoon at a time. Then stopping and weighing your ingredient. And love the video, Amy.🙂

I like to weigh butter since the wrapper isn't always accurate.
They have food scales now that measure more accurately. I think to .001 of a gram. Fairly affordable too now days.

How does this scale compare in accuracy and usefulness to the scale in the Kenwood Cooking Chef?
I have the prior model Cooking Chef. It doesn't have a built in scale. Unfortunately, Kenwood does not sell the current model here in the US.
If my recipe calls for grams, I use the scale. I don't convert my other recipes.

Very good point about ingredients stuck on the beater don't get weighed.
That's why I would rather weigh the ingredients before I add them to the mixing bowl.
