I actually did not know the answer, but this link has a great explanation of what the difference between the yeasts is. My take from it is that bread machine yeast is smaller granules and rises quicker than active dry yeast. It also may not need the initial 10-minute activation time. If it were me, I would try it, but keep an eye on it during that first ten minutes. It may start to get foamy much quicker, in that case, I would start adding my other ingredients sooner than the 10 minutes. I hope this helps. Will you let me know how it works?
