- Hello everyone! Today I baked old German bread. I don't buy bread anymore! I bake bread in the oven. This recipe is 100 years old! My children love homemade bread. And I cook fresh recipes every day. I love baking rustic bread. My grandmother’s German recipes help me with this. I love simple recipes. Bread in 5 minutes. You will enjoy baking bread at home. Practical recipes will help you with this. How do you make bread? Today I'm going to show you an old recipe. My grandmother baked rustic bread this way. Making white bread is easy. Helga is cooking. How to cook?
Country bread recipe:
450 ml warm water.
1 tablespoon sugar.
1 teaspoon dry yeast.
600 grams of wheat flour.
1 teaspoon salt.
Bake at 230°C (446°F) for 20 minutes.
Moisten the bread with water.
Bake at 200-210°C (400-410°F) for 25-30 minutes.

Interesting. I have never heard of not using any oil, ghee, butter or lard when making bread. I have heard of not using any sweetener though. Nice that you do not have to knead it and that you use two long proofing times and a 2-stage baking process. It looked lovely.
Traditional bread is made with flour, water, yeast, and a little bit of salt. Sugar is optional, but it's never made with oil or any other fat.

This is almost exactly the same recipe and method that my German grandmother baked bread. The only difference is that she would bake 6 loaves at once. Watching this in Hartland, WI. Glad you posted this!
