Turning Thrift Store Items into Halloween Decor!

- It's the mOOOST wonderful timmeee of the YEAAARRR. To kick off this year's autumn season, I wanted to get a head start on decorating for Halloween. I had so much fun with my older video of transforming thrift store finds into something new, so I figured: Let's do it for HALLOWEEEN. Any chance to ruin and rain destruction is an immediate yes from me, dog.
ANYWHO I take 4 different items and give them a new life, much like Victor Frankenstein. Hope you have fun!

Thats a super cute idea. Gives it a story for being so small. That's endearing as heck.
im obsessed with this comment, i truly hope rachel does this
Cuuuute!
YES! That's exactly what I was thinking.
“But Rachel, Autumn doesn’t officially begin until September twenty-“
PHOOEY!!!
Literally the most relatable thing I’ve heard in months.
The Spooky Community has *OFFICIALLY* declared that Halloween Season begins on July 5th. Because the 4th of July is the last major holiday that stores put out decorations for.
Therefore given that stores start selling stuff for the next holiday as soon as the last one is done. The Halloween Spooky Season *OFFICIALLY* begins on July 5th.

Right?
In Australia, spring starts on the 1st of september.
We keep things simple, here.
i literally put up all the fall decor we have in the house and the convo i had with my mom goes as follows:
Mom: "its not even fall yet"
Me: "its Sep 1st, its fall for me"
That's astronomical autumn, when days begin to get shorter. meteorological autumn occurs as soon as the weather shifts. Psychological autumn begins as soon as the right vibes smite you
I'm honestly impressed how well sculpted the frogs butt is
What an odd sentence

It's the most important part
@@sunnydoom2726 I wheezed with laughter, I hope you're happy!

I find it highly amusing to imagine how a robber would react to breaking into Rachel’s house at this point- “It looks like wood but it doesn’t feel like it… what is this?!!?!”
I love this thought!

I love Rachel making wood look like wood with clay as if it wasn't already wood 😂
As a scenic painter for theatre, fully 80% of my job is painting wood to look like wood. It seems silly sometimes, but it's oh so necessary. :)

These projects turned out amazing!
Not sure if you set the dirt and pebbles, but an even mix of PVA glue and water in a spray bottle will be thin enough to get out of the nozzle, and will seal in all the wayward friends trying to escape. I thank Studson's Studio for that one- he makes amazing miniatures, and he makes everything out of salvaged materials! Honestly right up your alley.
This video was super cute! :)

Spooky season starts November 1st.
Fight me.
(Don’t actually, I just love da spooks 😂) I do like this thought process though
I start getting spooky feels around May 1, Halfway To Halloween - when I also half decorate my yard. It's good to visit with those props more than once a year. (Of course, I then have to decorate for May The Fourth, but my Count Down Sign starts now.

Ghosts are my favorite 👻👻👻👻👻👻😊

It's not truly September until Rachel drops a video. THE SEASON OF AUTUMN IS HERE. PUMPKIN TIME.
Fun Fact: The first day of Autumn is actually August 1! September 22 is the Autumn Equinox which is the middle of Autumn! And Samhain (Halloween) being on October 31 is the last day of Autumn -- the last of the harvest festivals, because Winter begins on November 1, (so that way Winter Solstice on December 21 is the middle of Winter). This means that February 1 is the first day of Spring (which is why Groundhogs Day is on Feb 2), Vernal Equinox is on March 22 -- the middle of Spring, and the first day of Summer is on May 1 (Beltane/May Day) with the middle of Summer being Summer Solstice being on June 21!
Celts knew what they were doing. My country has a similar thing as groundhog day but with storks. If you see a stork flying around by Feb 3rd, spring is coming soon.
only correction is on the spelling of Bealtaine, but as an Irish person I've always been baffled at Americans' timing of the seasons
That makes so much more sense! I always wondered why the "beginning of winter" was mid-December when winter had obviously begun long before that (same with summer). I also love the idea of celebrating the mid point of something; it helps you get over the hump if you're getting bored, and sidesteps the obsession our society has with beginnings and endings rather than celebrating the process.
@@rowan_like_the_tree Bealtaine is how I originally spelled it, but my spell-check did the red squiggle underline until I spelled it as I did in the original comment D: -- that red squiggle makes my eye twitch (I am trying so hard to ignore it right now for the sake of replying. :'D)
@@justrachel4496 I do enjoy a good Wednesday for that same reason!

If Dunkin Donuts and Taco Bell haven't sponsored Rachel yet, I don't know what they think they're doing with their lives. It's effective advertising without even trying. Every time I watch her I just want to go grab some! 😋
Right? Now all I want is a coffee and some thrifting!
This season, I've already made 3 crafts, planned out my entire Halloween costume, bought pumpkin spice soap, pumpkin spice coffee, and one spooky ghost holding a candy-corn (mug). And now that I see this video.. I *create.*
Yes.. just *create.*
Rachel's animal is now officially Frogs. Relatives of Rachel, you know what to do.
Nah, it's just the peepers in the backyard, telling her things and imprinting themselves on her in her sleep.
That little froggy friend is my favorite part - such a friendly little noodle! (Also, thank you for not painting over that ridiculous and wonderful corgi. I love that somebody did that.)
I know! And the corgi-painted glass would make such a cute kitschy wall decor piece.
This is one of the only channels on YT that I can blindly click on any video and be thoroughly cheered, motivated, and laugh crying without delay. Bless you Rachel, you are our spirit animal 😆❤❣
Those jars are SHOCKINGLY accurate to the movie!!! Well done ma’am!
Yesterday it was 93° in my city. Today, it was 66° and raining. Fall is here!
Rachel, if you read this, I think you should follow the calendar of old. Fall starts September 1st, winter December 1st, spring March 1st, and summer June 1st. Which I think makes way more sense! You and I are akin in that while it might not yet feel like fall during the days. To those of us attuned to nature, we can feel the whisper of crispness in the morning and evening air. And you can just start to smell the promise of falling leaves, decay, and chilly air starting to pepper the day. It's the beginning of fall, and you can sense it if you know where to look.
Halloween for Rachel is what Christmas is to Mariah
I don't want a lot for Samhain
There is just one thing that I need
I don't care about the candies drop'd within the pumpkin bucket
I just want thrifted spooky trinkets
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
All I want for Samhain are spooky vibes
I'm more of a Thanksgiving person 😂 !
...but RM is much easier on my ears than MC singing dog whistle notes, imo.

The eligibility period for a music contest it happens in Europe every year is September 1st. So the fandom kinda treats it as New Year and we tweet and post a lot of New Year stuff on this day.

For me and my household, I go by the meteorological seasons (its science)::
Autumn: September, October, November.
Winter: December, January, February.
Spring: March, April, May.
Summer: June, July, August.
I'm not a fan of Halloween, but I AM a fan of watching people be passionate about the things they love. Keep it up!

Rachel I (and I canNOT stress this enough) could watch you making things that aren’t wood look like wood for hours and be perfectly content. Delighted, even
The lil glass panels from the terrarium could be a new set of dogs in costumes! Ones already done!
One for each season!
The memorial segment for the Valentines aluminum foil did it for me... and, autumn Rachel is my favourite.
Just for next time…put a pot of water on to boil, turn off heat. Stick your candle in the pot of hot water. Let it sit until it gets melty. Using a plastic fork, dig out candle. You can use the fork to remove wick. I put the candle on parchment paper to cool. Then you could use it as a wax melt. Hope that made sense!😬 Love your projects! 🎃
If I was Rachel, at this point i would already learn the woodworking skills😂
My 8th grade students and I started making Halloween decorations for our club "Decorating Committee". We save it all up and then hang it up afterschool the last Friday of September. That way Oct. 2nd we get the wow effect! I'm breaking out my Halloween decorations at home too. Rachel, you are an inspiration! 🎃
I’ve always wanted a haunted grandfather clock to tick ominously in a darkened hallway. Same aesthetic.

O.k., thanks for this video! I am an elementary school librarian who is planning our fall book fair in the coming months, and I was dismayed to find that Scholastic (the biggest, and oldest book fair vendor) no longer provides decorating themes (with clipart and other printable decor for free) for their book fairs like they used to do! Not that I always used their pre-chosen theme, but some of them were really fun, and now I have to think up everything for myself ... I was looking up different themes that I could realistically do at my school (making and putting up all the decor myself, and paying for it, too), and then realized that our fair is the third week of October. I.e., the week before Halloween! And then I see this video. Perfect! We will have a spooky, Halloween-y, "enchanted forest" theme! Or, whatever I can do with colored paper and put up on the walls ... But the kids *love* Halloween and spooky things, so they should love the vibe!
I think my kitty likes her new backpack. It was too hot in the car for her today. This thing is a life saver
My daughter now wants to be you when she grows up! Thanks for being a positive role model for how to be true to yourself and having fun doing it! When a girl is 13, it's great to show her that it's possible to just be the fun and creative person she wants to be. It's OK to ignore those people that are being "shiddy" (my new fave word).
OK, I half expected the Deadly Nightshade jar to be a large cocktail with a gothic parasol in it. :D These were all so much fun, though!
Hey Rachel! You can suspend your awesome broom using fishing line or any clear line/string you can scoop up. This was a very fun episode! I’m inspired to visit the thrift store and get crafty 🦇
Where I live you can smell the cow manure from the county over once the fog starts lifting from the fields around this time. That _Screams_ Autumn to us. And after how hot it's been here, that first morning was like a spiritual awakening. I'm already baking pumpkin pies, making cinnamon cookies, and dreaming of all the wonderful things I can do once it gets below 100. Your little 'Halloween!' gremlin lives rent free in my brain

A Rachel Maksey video (A summary)
Act 1, Rachel is very excited about her new idea for a project.
Act 2, Rachel goes shopping.
Act 3, first attempt ends in tears, yes nonetheless she pursues.
Act 4, Rachel lays on the floor.
Finale: reveal.
I can’t wait for the creepiness to come this crunchy spicy leaf season!
RIP to the Executive Choice Aluminum Foil. Gone but never forgotten. It was the Foil that lived
when Rachel showed that the frog did not fit i truly felt the facepalm energy, not only is it a "haha silly me did not make sure it would fit in jar" but also the facepalm of choosing to do the full body of the frog which also made it so it wouldn't fit in the jar, for if there was just the top and arms of the frog it would probs fit into both jars, or at the very least could be trimmed to fit
Oh good Im not the only one who's decided its Halloween time XD These all turned out so cute!
Also I love the Oogie Boogie and Sally vintage dresses you made in the past, it would be really cool if you continued that series. Maybe a Jack? 🤔
It's the start of Spooky time!! 👻 🎃 Thank you for helping us celebrate the season.
I think the clock is my favourite too! The froggy's outstretched arms make him look like a zombie frog :)

1. Awesome job on all of these!
2. Froggy might look extra cute holding an ivy vine or some fall leaves in his little hands, as long as they’re posed outside the jar anyway.
3. There’s a ghastly part of me that wants you to at least temporarily put the glass panels back in the terrarium, so that it looks like there’s a sweet happy corgi dancing his way through the graveyard. 💜🐶🎶🎵☠️
