    The angler fish looks very leathery and quite more solid than I expected. I imagined it would be more a lot more “deflated” when he pulled it out of the jar.

      It's a Football Fish, a type of angler fish covered in hard spiny plates. Not all anglers are that "solid".

    Please no this reminds me of when i went to the sydney museum of human disease for my biology excersion at school and it was exactly like this except with diseased human body parts and im still mortified there were like hands and feet and and even half of some guys face, still had the mustache and everything.
    Im going to have nightmares again. 😭😭

      With proper maintenance, probably hundreds of years. Those are strong preservatives in those jars.

    I took an Ichthyology class in college. We were opening jars and examining fish specimens all day in lab, and we even got to see an old coelacanth specimen in storage. For field trips we went out to the sound on a NOAA vessel. I wasn’t a science major and the experience was very cool.
