Curious if there's something I'm missing. If he doesn't catch the WP the runners advance to 2nd and 3rd, still 2 outs. Perez hits a ground ball that any 2B playing normally would make the play on and the inning ends. It was a fantastic grab by Contreras but failing to see how not making it costs the Cubs the World Series but maybe I'm missing something.
@@iloveresses7277 to be fair yes there were two outs but it’s the World Series nothing’s off the table and keeping them at first and second is better than having them advanced from 2nd to 3rd and 1st to 2nd
One thing to remember, at 1:07:04 when Bryant hit's this HR to tie the game, the Cubs NEVER TRAILED from that point for the rest of the 2016 World Series.
The game might have been tied, but never fell behind and always took the lead first.

im a tigers fan, but ive always loved the cubbies, and as you can imagine, cant stand cleveland, lol. there were a lot of turning points for the cubs this series, this was probably the biggest one. i said from the second they were down 3-1, they have the pitching lined up to win it. game 7 i still thought may go clevelands way, and when rajai hit that bomb, i thought, yup, of course, its the cubs. and then bryant slipping on the play to rizzo for the final out, any other year, that ball ends up 10 feet into the crowd. it was just destiny. congrats to the cubs, bout damn time.

I honestly believe Hayward's incredible catch changed the game and the series.
You're crazy dude. Number 1- It's "Heyward". Number 2- It was an average catch where Heyward almost fucked up and over shot it.
How did it not change momentum? Cubs were down 3-1 in the series. They needed something like that to spark them up. Are you sure the ball wouldn't have hit the wall instead of Heyward's glove if he stayed on his feet instead of climbing the wall?
He probably didn’t overshoot it, the ridiculous wind tunnel aka wrigley field probably carried it all over the place.

- You got the date wrong; there was no game played on Halloween night in 2016. I remember this because I went out on Halloween night that year( not trick-or-treating tho lol ;) ). Went out for a bite to eat & while I was out there was whole flood of trick-or-treaters on our street that night too. It was also an off-night/travel day for the World Series between the Cubs & Cleveland as well.
Actually think not having the homefield "advantage" helped the Cubs - they were much better and looser on the road in this series. The 3 middle games at Wrigley they seemed tight and tense just like the crowd and only scored 4 runs total in the 3 games, while scoring 22 in the last 3 games on the road.
And the reason for that is on the road, they had the advantage of schrawbers bat. He was not medically cleared to field at home. So without his bat, the cubs went cold at home.
And Tito was able to outmanage Maddon with NL rules.

What was the point of taking out Ross, and using Montero(also a catcher) as the pinch hitting if you’re just going to use Contras in the next half inning?
Edit: then used Montero fro Ross cuz they wanted the platoon advantage. Then used Contras in the number 9 spot so he lead off the 8th rather then the pitchers spot. But why used Montero. I would have used another lefty(not a catcher) in case of a Contreras injury.
