This was THE game . . . when I knew they were not going to be stopped, that they were going to win it all. (Of course, I lost a bit of that faith when they were down 3-1 to the Indians with 2 of the final 3 games to be played in Cleveland, but my feeling about this game in SF turned out to be true.)
Same here and when montero crushed the grand slam in game 1 vs the dodgers i was 100 percent sure ... even down 3 to 1 to Cleveland I really wasn't worried . The whole season was like a dream. So greatful for youtube .. I remember exactly where I was during all these key moments as well. Memories for life.

Statistically speaking, the 2016 Cubs are one of the ten best single season teams I have seen in my lifetime (I was born in 1971). I would even go back to 1961. I would match this team in a Strat game against any team since 1961. They were excellent.
Maddon just played Bochy perfectly after the Zobrist double. He took out Russell, a righty and brought in Coghlan, a lefty he never intended on using because he knew Bochy would switch to a lefty cause that's just always what he does when a lefty comes up, no matter what. Cubs ended up with the right handed Contreras, hitting 600 in that post season against a lefty and won the game.
As an A's fan I definitely jumped for joy once Belt struck out. I couldn't take it after 2014 living around Giants fans. After hearing about the whole even year thing in 2016 I was so excited. I ran into the back yard fell to me knees and raised my arms to the sky
5 years later, he'll still swing at a pitch that bounces in front of the plate. All you have to do is throw a slider to him on 0-2, and it's an automatic strike out. They are doing him a favor throwing a fastball.
I was at this game. Cubs fan for life. I live in the SF Bay Area now. I was at the game the night before also which went into extra innings and ended very late and the trains would’ve stopped, so I had to leave. Come back the next night for this game. Was so pissed off at the Cubs, I left after the 8th inning. Took the train home and listened to all this happen on my headphones. I was SO pissed and excited at the same damn time.

That playoff run was one of the best, if not the absolute best of all time. They did it every series, and the World Series. Coming back from a 3-1 deficit, and then coming back in game 7 to win it in the 10th. Absolute madness.
B V Doubt it. No pitching, We should of traded Bryant, Putting Rose as head coach was a mistake. And we should of traded Schwarber to AL and should of gotten an Arenado type third base and a pitcher. Cubs have the money to go over the luxury tax easily. Been a blind fan is one thing but we should also be realistic and know we’re not good right now. The little we played in the dessert we looked real bad and per statistic we were headed to a third-fourth position the Central.
As a Dodger fan I was happy to see the Giants lose, especially on their home field. All Dodger fans temporarily became Cubs fans during this playoff series. Even though the Cubs ended up beating the Dodgers in the NLCS, I was still happy for the Cubs as they deserved to win that title after 108 years. And happy the Giants didn't make it back to the World Series. Now if only my Dodgers can claim that title I will be even more happy.

I'm a Dodger fan too so automatically hate the giants. I lived in Chicago for a year. After seeing Wrigley field I became an instant fan, I also believe how can anyone not support their home teams, that is why I currently support the JAZZ.
The Rizzo walk was incredible. THAT was the at bat that added all the pressure. Talking a walk in a matchup that didn’t favor him was massive. Huge takes.

No, sorry. Been a Cubs fan far too long not to know pretty much every playoff appearance the Cubs have made. In '86 they went 70-90 and finished in 5th place. That playoff three-run comeback record was for MLB at the time. Go Cubs, go! Cheers....

I really miss pitchers being able to come out after one batter. The big problem is that it took a ton of time, and commercials always in between but the manager strategy was always so intriguing. Bring it back and just don’t allow a TV break at least in the playoffs.

I like the Cubs. The Cubs are my favorite team. I cheer for them when they play. I cheered loud during this game.
