      Andrew Helton I was at the May 27 2009 game. Zambrano got booted. I was walking down from cheap seats and kept hearing Cheers. It was cold as Alska that day and why we left early. Crowd was down to 70%. By the time I made it out front gate the cubs came back in the 9th and won...the noise was awesome. My son's first cubs game.

      Snow is nothing. I first went to Wrigley in 1959. I've endured a lifetime of misery. My parents were born in 1912 and 1914, and each of them passed away -- my mother at 97 -- without having seen the Cubs win a World Series. You either love this poetic game, or you don't.
      You either love baseball or you love, at least, whatever the hell it was the Cubs were often playing.

      Whats readiculus is that Jason Heyward did the exact same thing. Bases loaded, 2 strikes, 2 outs, grandslam, way over 400ft, just as many fans in the croud. But since it was only a 2 run deficit instead of 3 run deficit. Its talked about a lot less. But the way I see it, is even though the cubs have chooked every season after there world sieres. Those two walk offs and the many other walk offs the Cubs had in that season is a record that will never be broken. And history that is so isain the fact that it happened just goes over everybody heads.

    • @LucasDidier22
      @LucasDidier22 4 года назад

I can’t believe the history that I witnessed here, the biggest play you can imagine in the game of baseball, and by a rookie pinch hitter to boot. I didn’t see any David Bote jerseys for sale in the Cubs store before the game, but I bet tomorrow they won’t be able to stock enough to keep on the racks. The few people who decided to leave early will tell lies for the rest of their lives about when they saw this game.

    "...You can't sit on a lead and run a few plays into the line and just kill the clock. You've got to throw the ball over the damn plate and give the other man his chance. That's why baseball is the greatest game of them all." - Baseball Hall of Famer Earl Weaver

    Just hearing the words “David Bote waits on deck for Chicago” around 10:09 is such the perfect example of hindsight being 20/20 ..... but “and now the /WINNING/ run will dig in at the plate” at 11:14 is so much better
