When Rizzo followed the ball all of the way to the catcher's mitt on the first pitch, he let us know that he was in the zone. That 0-1 blast was hit so hard that it's difficult to even see the ball leave the bat from the main angle. He got all of it, just incredible.
Cubs developed the championship heart in that 2016 run to the title and they still have it. It is something that can't be taught and once you have it you never lose it. Some teams never develop it (like the Nationals).
The Nationals figured it out in the 8th inning of that Wildcard game against the Brewers and the rest is history. All of a sudden the least-clutch postseason team of this era became the most clutch. Crazy how it works once a team figures it out.
I (an Imam) went to this game with my friend who happens to be a Rabbi. When Anthony Rizzo belted a walk-off game winning home run, we were screaming and hugging like long-lost brothers. What made the moment sweeter was about an hour earlier I wanted to go home after the fifth inning and beat the traffic since the Cubbies were down big. Rabbi Ari said, "Imam, have faith! The Cubbies are going to win this game!" Sports bring Muslims and Jews and Christians together!
Best part is Eddie Butler, the winning pitcher, who you can briefly see in the celebration pileup, was traded away within about an hour of this game ending. Great way for him to remember his time in the Cubs' organization
Nothing better than walking Wrigleyville high fiving singing after a huge win. And I love how he's just like, move over there when they come with water😂
Ben Zobrist is one of the most underrated players in MLB history. Part of multiple championship teams, always in the clutch and contributes in ways invaluable to whatever team he plays for. True unsung hero of the game.
Diamondbacks: *up two* alright we should be good, just need three outs. Zobrist: *walks* D: no problem just need a few outs, maybe a double play? Baez: *pops out* D: see? See? We’re fine. Bote: *hits bomb, ties game* D: damnit, ok fine we just need a few more outs, we can take this to extras. Rizzo: allow me to introduce myself.
Me too! And the way this 2018 season ended was so disappointing. Too bad Darvish & Morrow got hurt. The Cubs would have won 100+ games and the division title... and then maybe the postseason would have been different. Oh well... Cubs fans will always have 2016.
#33 Butler who you can see in the foreground of the huddle around home plate was the winning pitcher for this game... and he was traded like an hour later. I was at this game and I remember seeing the notification about the trade on the ride home. I'll bet that's a great final memory to have with the team.
I can't even explain how emotional I feel when I see these Cubs players together and sad that they are gone. I understand they didn't play as well and had to be traded, but I hate that things didn't work out. Things are so much different now. I don't see the fun on the field, the bullpen dancing silly, a party like atmosphere, and most importantly the chemistry, bond, and friendship. I miss them.
My friend said he’d eat a shoe if Bote tied the game... I will be preparing fried flip-flops today. (Bote has been one of my favorite players on the team since his debut, I’ve always thought had had a great work ethic and personality, he’s also pretty dang good)
Slav Dog Although, lately it seems like sometimes they get a good start with Lester, Hendricks, or Quintana, and their relief pitching throws the game away. EDIT: Seems like they stopped the bleeding with the acquisition of Cole Hamels. (8/17/18)
Jhonathan Cosme I think both of them are pretty bad. I was hoping the Cubs would buy a great pitcher, (relief or starting) and just pay the fine for going over the salary cap. I also think Yu Darvish needs to get his head on straight and pitch some great games or the Cubs management needs to find away to get rid of him. What a waste of money he is so far. 👎
They had such a good team and they were lucky to win 1 series. What a shame I waited a lifetime to see them win one and I thought with that team they would have won at least one more if not two or three
That was a good game and plus I'm not going to lie Rizzo look kind of mad when Albert the guy who is number five Jersey when he threw the water bucket at at the Rizzo and Rizzo look man when he threw it back

Len Kasper can nails every single call. This was awesome!
That first pitch to Rizzo though
Rizzzzzz comin’ thruuuuuuu !!! Can’t forget Bote as well !!!! 💙🐻
kiara garcia I really really like David , he’s my favorite back up besides tommy and victor lol !
Hylan Stanley Yesss!!! They’re all great 🙌🏼💪🏼💪🏼
I'm a Yankees fan, and this was truly amazing, great comeback Cubs!
just wait till you see the Cubs-Nationals game
Now y’all got Rizzo
And now Rizzo's yours.
u got our rizzo
3:40 Cubs Nationals Sunday night baseball on August 12. Wonder how that one ends
David Bote Was about to say lol
Haha
Jay Beddow a
That is crazy.
Walk off slam
Rizzo crushed the seams out of that ball. Good Lord. Go Cubs! I love it!
Anthony Rizzo for President
Des Nutz eeeee
maybe in 2024. MAGA

Well, the tail end of this comment aged poorly. XD
*like the dodgers

Last Night was So much Fun. Thx for letting me relive it.
In the game promoted at 3:26, David Bote hit a walk off grand slam when down by 3 runs.
Mornington Crescent yup that was so sweet
The a walk off homer in the bottom of the 10th a couple days ago. They guy is clutch.

And can you believe that was in Rizzo's 1000th career game?
Wait fr?
Awesome my Cubs! I went nuts when my favorite Cubby, the Riz, hit the walk off.
I remember getting home just in time to watch this happen. I miss this team.
Appreciate what we have now. However it was a wonderful time for a cub fan back then. I just wish they would have produced in the post season
Nothing better than walking Wrigleyville high fiving singing after a huge win. And I love how he's just like, move over there when they come with water😂
Love it! Nothing beats a walk off
All of this happened because Ben Zobrist had great patience and earned that lead off walk
Steven Weiner I was about to say the same thing
Zobrist always has a good eye.
Clutch. Zobrist helped bring it home in Game 7.
Ben Zobrist is one of the most underrated players in MLB history. Part of multiple championship teams, always in the clutch and contributes in ways invaluable to whatever team he plays for. True unsung hero of the game.
Enjoy it hes gonna whine and cry about his failed marriage to some crazy witch and never show back up
My favourite Cub, and definitely one of my favourite players overall.

Rizzo: allow me to introduce myself.
the absolute opposite of funny
Rizzo is such a great guy. My favorite lefty since Gibby.
Best regular season game I ever attended. Wow.
I miss the old cubs 🥺
Me too! And the way this 2018 season ended was so disappointing. Too bad Darvish & Morrow got hurt. The Cubs would have won 100+ games and the division title... and then maybe the postseason would have been different. Oh well... Cubs fans will always have 2016.

Cubbies with 33 come back W! The most come from behind "W"ins in MLB history. Way to Go Cubs!! Bote!! Rizzo!!!
Right fielder didn’t even flinch to turn around. 😂

This pitcher is a pretty good hitter too

I wish I had friends who liked baseball lol
lmao
Diamondbacks blew a 6-1 lead
golden state blew 3-1 lead
henry manahan ikr 😂
Indians blew a 14-2 lead!
Dback are shit
@@henrymanahan2764 You know who else blew a 3-1 lead. I'll give you a hint. You just saw their WS opponent win
Anthony rizzo is that boy
What a lousy calked strike on Rizzo. Umpiring is getting worse
Some umps are so bad they can't remember the plate is the strike zone and it doesn't move when the batter stands as close as Rizzo does.
Ball 4 to Zobrist too though. Not as bad, it's right on the line but the robot umps would have called it a strike.
@@mattwilliams222 keep robot umps out of the game!!
@@djbeezy why?
Hey if you can do better, get your umpire license and start umpiring!
Rizzo looks so much better in a Cubs uniform than a Yankee uniform
Baseball coverage is so good now and it's even better without the box drawn around the strike zone.
Bryant will be back soon, Bote is a good fill-in for now
Goodbye Rizzo ;(( thanks for the memories
10:40 Baez inner self: Hello darkness my old friend
Botizzo: We put the ding in dinger
This will teach me not to walk away from the game.
Slav Dog Although, lately it seems like sometimes they get a good start with Lester, Hendricks, or Quintana, and their relief pitching throws the game away. EDIT: Seems like they stopped the bleeding with the acquisition of Cole Hamels. (8/17/18)
CUB NATION108 more like Chatwood set up to throw game away because he’s horrible. Duensing is not good anymore.
Jhonathan Cosme I think both of them are pretty bad. I was hoping the Cubs would buy a great pitcher, (relief or starting) and just pay the fine for going over the salary cap. Jhonathan Cosme Hendricks sucks too in my opinion sometimes he has good games but it's rarely so often
Doc Kaos815 Beats Hendricks is just having a down year
Rizzo is nothing but class.
This video is just MAGICAL😁
I was at this game! Wasn’t that Rizzo’s 1,000th game? I also got a signed ball from Albert Almora Jr.
Definitely a different feel to the games when there's a crowd.
I was at this game and I loved it
They had such a good team and they were lucky to win 1 series. What a shame I waited a lifetime to see them win one and I thought with that team they would have won at least one more if not two or three
I love these cubs fans #flytheW
Seems every Cubs comeback has a great Zobrist at bat.
i want baseball back.
Javy is always buckling himself or something like that. I think it’s funny
2018 cubs were actually so clutch I wish the 2020 cubs could be like this
I miss baseball.
Bote just has a way with longballs in the late innings.
That’s our Captain!
Go cubs go
I was at this game it was amazing
HOLY COW!! CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN!! HOLY COW!
Let's go rizzo
That face of rizzos at 10:58
Where the hell is this umps strike zone anywhere in Wrigley field?
I saw this game on TV
Beast
Man I wish they had the audio with Pat Hughes instead.
thank u cubs, the rockies thank u
Mellow Harris Don't mention it.
Seconding that
Lol no prob mellow
Mellow Harris dback still in first place
I flew to Chicago to see this game. Enough said.
That’s how we do!
Great video. 21 thumbs down? ARI or STL or MIL fans I suppose. LOL
¡qué batazzo¡
Is the new combo gonna be botizzo???
Anything Len says is true, so yes, yes it is.
Slav Dog thats true. This year seems to be his off year.
Brytizzo
what y’all mean Baez carrying the team rizzo having bad year and Bryant out.
Slav Dog hopefully but it’s all up too Baez rn
even on the mvp race.
I was there at that game!
Imagine how bad the pitcher feels. I mean he got a player on base. He threw a tie game homer and then he throws the back to back homerun walk off
North side stand up
A pitcher and a hitter
Why didn’t Baez give him a high five
I have seen RIzzo hit it farther at Old Globe Life field in Texas.
Rizzo is still the leader of the cubs. He is the man not Bryant you want up at the plate when the game is on the line.
As long as he's on the team... it's his team.
whyicare Him or Baez
@@Classic_Rock_Station well this comment aged lol
Chicago Cubs have the best crowds. Fight me.
Nice bote with 2 stikes
Go Cubs :)
Len Kasper ball game over cubs win cubs win 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻Bo tis o
Rizzo walk away with a home run
Bote has a walk off slam next game
Go cubs
The Brizzo Souvenir Company has been temporarily renamed to the Botizzo Souvenir Company.
Literally IHOP to IHOb. Bryant will be back soon and hopefully back to his former glory.
Eric VanSickle Bryant is better so no
I left this game and I’ve regretted it ever since.
I saw Morel’s walk off. Inner peace.
I WAS THERE!
That was a good game and plus I'm not going to lie Rizzo look kind of mad when Albert the guy who is number five Jersey when he threw the water bucket at at the Rizzo and Rizzo look man when he threw it back
I would hate to be any fans that left early.
WAIT WAS THAT AUGUST 12 GAME THE ONE WHERE BOTE HIT THAT SLAM??
#ElBote
I was there
I was here!
Good🖒
❤
We know harry carry is watching
Lol that pitcher is probably the most nonchalant pitcher I have ever see
See ya rizzo
Just once I want to see them get the reporter with the ice water.
I was at this game
Bro I'm sorry but "Brad Boxberger" is the most Looney Toons cartoon sounding name.
