That iconic walk of Biff after that cowboy gun fire scene in the 3rd Part was something hilarious and super amazing... Thanks Biff, Doc and Marty for making our childhood awesome 🥰
I think it took a lot of guts for Tom Wilson to talk about some of these things. The insecurity of the job, the real fear that they would let him go. He earned even more respect from me for talking about this. I think it was for best that Michael J. Fox was brought into the film and our 3 heroes (Marty, Doc, and Biff) really made that film series! Remember guys -- this year is the 35th anniversary of the original Back to the Future. They already announced a new 4K Blu ray set is being released. If you just want deal with regular Blu ray, that set is already out in 3 editions -- 2 standards sets released a few years apart and a steelbook Blu ray set of all 3 films exclusive to Wal Mart. My guess is the 4K release will probably have all the old extras and hopefully some deleted scenes we might not have seen before. I doubt we'll ever see much of Eric Stolz in any B2F material for legal reasons...
I love the dichotomy between how a villian is portrayed on screen and how the actor or actress actually is on set. I find it so funny that the best villians are almost always really really nice people in real life!
They're rarely top-billed actors. They're more like blue-collar actors, who don't get caught up in the bullshit so many of the "stars" do, especially if you follow some of the old Western heavies. You see them in movies and t.v., but you rarely know their names until years later.
makes me think of two things: firstly, once upon a time in hollywood. one of the things mentioned in that is how being a villain all the time keeps you cast as villains, and you never really breakout or become popular because you're only ever seen as a villain. this makes them always smaller-time roles and more relatable people as a result. secondly, the people who are most likely to take a villains role are those humble enough to not feel too personal about it. you're unlikely to get egotistical actors who see themselves as some golden boy or heroic and stoic figure, because they are taking a step down to portray themselves in such a negative light.
I would still like to see the Eric Stoltz version of BACK TO THE FUTURE. I know MJF was awesome...but I would still like to see it for the cringe factor. Lol.
Michael j fox was the there first choice. They couldn't get him at first so that's why they had Eric but they always wanted Michael j fox. It was possibly easy for them to get rid of Eric because Michael probably was available
Chris Kimmel MJF wasn’t available... conventionally speaking. He was still shooting Family Ties as the BTTF reshoot began. CBS agreed to lend him to Universal and work around their schedule some, but MJF was shooting both at the same time. He’s a fkin legend.
Tom Wilson did stand up on a cruise we were on, he’s a good actor, decent comedian and seems to live in the moment. Can’t think of anyone better as Biff.
I was gonna say neither in 2 but then I remember Doc is the one who knocks out Biff on the roof of Pleasure Paradise The most I think the two interact is... the Ride lmao
The ride is weird, it’s 50’s Biff time traveling in that story which makes me really question how that will effect the timeline seeing how now 85 Bill will remember what the time machine will look like in 85 when he sees it flying away and it won’t take him 30 years to figure out what it is
It's awesome that Tom Wilson would share that. It makes him so different than the character he potrayed as this arrogant dude. He just wanted to keep his job.
@@toddsmitts Yep that's right. He was bullied in high school. He drew on his experiences of being bullied to play Biff. In real life, he was a lot more like George Mcfly.
Tom Wilson created maybe the most memorable and hated bully in a movie ever. But also made you like his character too with charisma and charm. Each version of Biff in the films you could see how comfortable he was playing the roles. It shows you how great of an actor he is that his performance stole the movie as much as the lead actors.
Tom Wilson was so good in these movies I actually am in awe of what a wholesome dude he is. But on the other hand, Biff is so iconic and so goofy, at least in the first and third movie, that you can’t help being fond of him anyway. In the second movie he’s actually scary and unsettling, I don’t like thinking about it.
Plus when you see his home life with his grandma, you get why he's such a bully. His dad being in jail and his missing mom (unless dead) doesn't help his situation either.
I don't why they thought they were going to be fired. They both killed it. I can't see anyone else playing their parts but them. Excellent cast all around for that movie. It's one of those perfect movies.
It's called "acting" for a reason. And playing the villain and antagonist requires a lot of acting skill. People literally hate Biff's guts - he did a great job playing the villain.
Gary MacMillan, I recognized Tom Wilson from the Wing Commander games where Tom acted side by side with Mark Hamill. Yes, it is true. Look it up on youtube.
I read once that John Lithgow was considered for the role of Doc Brown. While it may be difficult for some to imagine an alternate timeline without Christopher Lloyd in the role, somehow I could actually see Lithgow fitting into the part.
bunnyfreakz Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis always wrote it as a comedy. They originally cast Eric Stoltz as Marty but after several weeks of filming they felt that Stoltz wasn’t able to communicate the kind of humor they had always intended for the movie. That’s why Stoltz was replaced with MJF.
@@bunnyfreakz From my knowledge, they didn't change the script. Michael just brought his innate comic goofy sensibility that Eric just doesn't have. I like Eric Stoltz a lot, but he was miscast in BTF. That must of been hard on him especially after it became the big hit. But Stoltz has had a good acting career with about 80 screen credits. So I'd say he did alright.
@@nikolatesla5553 They definitely changed the script. If you search for the 1984 script, you will find a different mood altogether i.e. a PG-13 teen movie with edgier jokes (Marty is funnier) and more drama.

Absolutely loved the BTTF trilogy. Everyone involved made them the success that they've become. This may sound bad, but I'm glad Eric Stoltz got fired, and Michael J Fox replaced him. Talking of baddies, Christopher Lloyd was also in my favourite film, One Flew over the Cuckoo's nest, where Louise Fletcher played the nasty Nurse Ratchet, but in real life, like Tom Wilson, was an amazing woman, actress and human being.
I met both of them on two different comic cons. Lloyd made a point of shaking everybody's hand after he signed the autograph. Wilson talked to me and answered all my questions. Very nice men.
That's really incredible hearing that from you guys because I always felt that all 3 of your characters personalities really made this story. I think of Back To The Future IV often!
It’s kinda like what Christopher Eccalston has been doing with Doctor Who recently, quitting and then never doing anything to do with his character or part of the franchise for years then deciding to just embrace it and accept it as an important part of his career
In a movie of great actors he's probably my favorite character because of how well he's acted. You absolutely and immediately hate him, but because of how his character acts, not because the character is annoying or anything off-putting. Only a brilliant actor can make such a character happen.
Biff worried about getting fired?? Good luck finding someone to replace him! Christopher Lloyd in an interview when asked about Biff “When I was at school in the 50’s guys like Biff used to terrify the shit out of me” fair comment to say he nailed the role!
Thoroughly enjoyed watching this clip, thank you. Random thought, Biff at the end of the first movie mirrors Tom Wilson’s demeanour. Kind, respectful and humble. 😍
Chemistry is such a hard thing to find and as hard as it was , it was the right thing to recast. Thank goodness to because that movie probably would have never become a cult classic.
@jm gee Hey, that should be a new movie! Back to the future and back again. Eric stolz takes the delorean off the Warner Bros lot, and goes back in time to stop michael J fox from being the star. :D And then the rest of the movie can just be the original with a ll erics parts back in, once the timeline has been changed back.
In the TV show "Fringe", there was an alternate Earth where BTTF was finished with Eric Stoltz ... They kept the World Trade Center in 2001 but lost the White House.

I feel like Tom had a still from the movie hung up on a wall for years and went "Goals, I want to look like that"
"Thought I was going to have to move to Alaska and work on a crab fishing boat"
Funny line right there.
I love the fact that he knows he kinda looks like Sig Hansen from Deadliest Catch
I guess Tom had to hurry up after this interview and put that second coat of wax on the car.
Lol
😂
I just finished the second coat.
Oh yea, with your eyes closed

“Now BIFF, don’t con me!”
Then clean the manure from his own car
I can't be mad at Biff seeing Tom be so happy and cheerful
I love the dichotomy between how a villian is portrayed on screen and how the actor or actress actually is on set.
I find it so funny that the best villians are almost always really really nice people in real life!
Boris Karloff ("Frankenstein") fits this description...his entire life a perfect gentleman...and the Greatest "Boogeyman" of the 20th Century!
They're rarely top-billed actors. They're more like blue-collar actors, who don't get caught up in the bullshit so many of the "stars" do, especially if you follow some of the old Western heavies. You see them in movies and t.v., but you rarely know their names until years later.
The opposite is also true: the heroes & 'good guys' are all too often the jerks & arseholes.
makes me think of two things:
firstly, once upon a time in hollywood. one of the things mentioned in that is how being a villain all the time keeps you cast as villains, and you never really breakout or become popular because you're only ever seen as a villain. this makes them always smaller-time roles and more relatable people as a result.
secondly, the people who are most likely to take a villains role are those humble enough to not feel too personal about it. you're unlikely to get egotistical actors who see themselves as some golden boy or heroic and stoic figure, because they are taking a step down to portray themselves in such a negative light.
Grand Moff Cushing (i know his name, lol) Peter Cushing on the set of Star Wars.
So glad. MJF was the right choice.
We don't know that though, we can speculate but we really don't know.
Even Eric Stoltz agreed he was originally miscast.
Chris Kimmel
MJF wasn’t available... conventionally speaking.
There will be snacks- Tom Wilson
Lmao 🤣
Biff says he doesnt have funny stories to tell but this was a funny story
Joseph Burns He said he didn't have that many. Of course there's a few, this being probably the best one anyway.
He didn't have to say anything. Just look at him with facual features made me laght.
It's not really a funny story, but it's funny the way he told it
*Sobs* "And I still get paid right??" *Sobs* 😥
Tom Wilson is great. 😁
Wilson is great, and it's awesome hearing him speak about the movie and the role he played. You loved to hate him, he's a very good actor.
It's funny that Christopher Lloyd and Thomas F. Wilson didn't have a scene together in the first BTTF movie.
I was gonna say neither in 2 but then I remember Doc is the one who knocks out Biff on the roof of Pleasure Paradise
The most I think the two interact is... the Ride lmao
The ride is weird, it’s 50’s Biff time traveling in that story which makes me really question how that will effect the timeline seeing how now 85 Bill will remember what the time machine will look like in 85 when he sees it flying away and it won’t take him 30 years to figure out what it is
@@bl4ckw1ngz64 Don't forget part 3, when Doc is stuck in 1885, and he has a run-in with Buford Tannen on a couple of occasions.
It's awesome that Tom Wilson would share that. It makes him so different than the character he potrayed as this arrogant dude. He just wanted to keep his job.
He's totally different from Biff. In fact, I've heard stories that HE was bullied as a kid and incorporated some of that into Biff.
@@toddsmitts Yep that's right. He was bullied in high school. He drew on his experiences of being bullied to play Biff. In real life, he was a lot more like George Mcfly.
There is no Biff without Tom Wilson.
Without Christopher and Tom ,the whole story can not be completed with excitement and suspense.
He's such a good looking guy, too. I'm surprised he didn't have a more prominent career.
Tom Wilson seems like a nice, regular guy
Michael J. Fox said Wilson is the exact opposite of the Biff character.
I got to work with him and he is an awesome guy. His mom is very sweet as well.
The only actor who could nail walking backwards while looking puzzled 😁
I think he wrote a song about MJF being a really nice guy.
He is.
Loved him as Biff he was awesome..
“Get out of my car old man” that look on his face was priceless...
Yeah, Biff in the alternate 1985 timeline was a dark character.
Tom Wilson is so underrated in the BTF trilogy. he had to play like 6 different versions of Biff. Did fantastic in all of them. Amazing!
Fascinating. These two guys are awesome in the movie and are cultural icons by now. What a crazy experience filming that first movie must have been.
Never got the recognition he deserved for biff ,amazing actor who should of been bigger ,
I don't why they thought they were going to be fired. They both killed it. I can't see anyone else playing their parts but them. Excellent cast all around for that movie. It's one of those perfect movies.
It's because they fired the former lead after already doing 6 weeks of shooting. If a lead could be fired this far into production, anyone could go.
I was pretty dumb back when this movie came out, but since that time I have pursued my density.
Just like George McFly.
Jeez i could listen to Cristopher Lloyd's Voice all day
Erich Honecker is like ear caramel
Tom Wilson seems such a top bloke
He's amazing, met them both. Tom is really charming and nice. I'm so surprised he can even play a bully role.
Look it up on youtube.
zinki120 Todd “Maniac” Marshall...That brings back some memories! He brought a lot of Biff Tannen sarcasm into that character. 🤣
What's a bloke?
I love tom, he played a bully but in actuality he has the biggest heart.
I love how his reaction to reshooting all his scenes with Michael J Fox is " I'll get paid for that? "
Hey I would have asked the same thing. Especially if this is my first big gig as an actor
Wonder if Biff calls his kids “butthead?”
Does this answer your question ?
ruclips.net/video/iwY5o2fsG7Y/видео.html
Who you calling "butthead", butthead?
I read once that John Lithgow was considered for the role of Doc Brown. While it may be difficult for some to imagine an alternate timeline without Christopher Lloyd in the role, somehow I could actually see Lithgow fitting into the part.
BBTF was supposed a much serious scifi. They changed a script into much more lighter tone and cast Michael J Fox.
bunnyfreakz Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis always wrote it as a comedy. They originally cast Eric Stoltz as Marty but after several weeks of filming they felt that Stoltz wasn’t able to communicate the kind of humor they had always intended for the movie. That’s why Stoltz was replaced with MJF.
BBTV?
Don't be fooled by the guy with glasses. He's really a Captain in the Klingon Imperial Navy.
Really?? I think he is an Addams Family member ...
Or maybe he tried to kill Roger Rabbit... I dont know.
Didn't he used to be a taxi driver?
I believe he once tried to kill Dennis The Menace
He's done quite well for a guy who was a mental patient
Biff Tannen have always been one of my favorite character on all the Back to The Future movies...What a great actor Tom Wilson is to be able to play that character so freaking well..
Many years ago I learned what a good guy Tom Wilson is.
He really did the best as "Biff", who you loved to hate. Who hasn't said, "Hello, McFly!!"
Tom played biff so well and naturally, you wouldn’t think he was a nervous wreck the entire time
Thank you for posting this clip, thoroughly enjoyable! Observing Tom Wilson, he seems to channel himself as the kinder Biff at the end of the first movie. One of my all time favourite movie(s). They are magic together. 😍
My favorite movie of all time. Love all three
Love the entire cast it was just perfect for the film. I still love this trilogy to this very day it’s a masterpiece. Hey Butthead!!!! Tom plays the heck outta Biff after re watching it I think he deserves more appreciation. Biff was awesome along with Doc and Marty all three just work so well together.
I know we don't need it but I want a part 4. Christopher Loyd is a national treasure.
If only they wasn't to ill to do it pple forget about there problems Marty and doc have. Doc was also in Adams family to
If they did a part 4 though Tom Holland would make a great Marty McFly. Or perhaps his son.
check out a Saturday night live sketch in 2015 where Michael J Fox and Christopher Loyd reprise their B2TF roles, it's hilarious.
The game can be considered a part 4. It was written by Bob Gale and has the voices of both C. Lloyd and M. Fox.
@@Ometecuhtli Actually, Michael J Fox did NOT voice Marty McFly in the video game. But the voice actor did an amazing job of sounding like Michael.
Just saw the first movie a few weeks ago for the first time.
Thank God I waited till I was an adult... I wouldn't have understand how much of a masterpiece it is!!!
I think all the actors fit their roles perfectly, it was the perfect cast for a great movie.
Look at him. He's an old man! Thank God he still has his hair.
Such top shelf actors here. Class acts, amazing. Gracious & Grateful. Thank you Chris & Tom! This film will be forever fresh.
Tom Wilson is hilarious. Now you can really see just how good an actor he really is. And yes Tom, your hard work really made the movie so nice job.
Tom Wilson is a great comedian. Clean and very funny! Most people don't know this. He's also a Christian.
Gruuvin1
A Christian eh? Oh well, we all have flaws. No ones perfect ;-)
@@Tsukamaki you missed an apostrophe.
Gruuvin1
Yup, guess I did
No wonder he was scared of being fired!
Being a Christian in Hollywood isn't Kosher.
Fuck your religion
I met both of them on two different comic cons. Lloyd made a point of shaking everybody's hand after he signed the autograph.
Wilson talked to me and answered all my questions. Very nice men.
That's really incredible hearing that from you guys because I always felt that all 3 of your characters personalities really made this story. I think of Back To The Future IV often!
I think Tom Wilson did a great job. He definitely held his own and makes a great contribution to the series.
Wow, they actually got Tom Wilson out there. He is usually missing from all the usual interviews and documentaries.
He appears to be embracing the Biff stuff in his later years
I hear him on the radio a lot
@@mrcritical6751 Yeah, he used to hate how the character pigeonholed him, but he seems to have come to terms with it.
It’s kinda like what Christopher Eccalston has been doing with Doctor Who recently, quitting and then never doing anything to do with his character or part of the franchise for years then deciding to just embrace it and accept it as an important part of his career
Thank you for this vid! Great chat!
You guys did a GREAT job! Love the series.
"There will be snacks."
"YES!"
Chalk up another for the Maniac!
Yeah! I was scrolling through looking for a WC qoute. 🖤
Lol nice one! He was awesome in Wing Commander.
Lloyd is looking more and more like Richard Harris!
Optical Clarity not that much
He's on his way out sadly
Nocturnal Recluse that's bollocks, Apart from his age he's fine
The Roo+ You blimey bastid. I'll give him a year or two before his name makes the obituaries. Betty white on the other hand is immortal.
I was thinking more like Harry Morgan. Ok, a much TALLER Harry Morgan, but ... yeah.
I met Thomas F Wilson and he is super nice. I asked him who is your favorite "Bevis or.... Butthead?" He laughed.
And then he said to you: "Now, make like a tree and get out of here!"
Biff is such a great villain in the BttF movies.
In a movie of great actors he's probably my favorite character because of how well he's acted. You absolutely and immediately hate him, but because of how his character acts, not because the character is annoying or anything off-putting. Only a brilliant actor can make such a character happen.
Ha ha! These actors are humble. Like them.
The asshole asking the questions is trying to turn it political.
Tom Wilson is awesome.
Your performances are historic. Well done, we always love watching the films..
What a great franchise! I loved them ALL! I couldn't imagine anybody else playing these parts.
Thanks for posting this. Very interesting
These guys are both really well spoken and down to earth. Really cool to hear their perspective on this.
Chemistry is such a hard thing to find and as hard as it was , it was the right thing to recast. Thank goodness to because that movie probably would have never become a cult classic.
Would have been a good 80s movie but not one of the best or most iconic
Just think, in a parallel universe on another earth Eric Stoltz was never fired and is in all 3 movies
Or Eric Stoltz was never fired and BttF Part II and III were never made
@jm gee Hey, that should be a new movie!
There is one, actually.
I really want to hear more about the chemistry growing between Christopher Lloyd and Michael J Fox. They really had incredible chemistry.
I’ve seen Tom do stand up and he was AWESOME. Opened with a guitar and absolutely killed it. Took a picture with me and everything.
Very underrated actor Tom Wilson is. such a talent. Old biff
great actor marred by his voice.
there is a movie called blood in blood out where he plays maybe 4 minutes in it and hes a undercover cop.
he acts good but his voice sounds like a 20 year old.
he should do VA if he haven't done it already
