I always thought it was because it was 3-4 in the morning when McFly scared George and he (George) just slept through his alarm. As far as the peanut brittle, I always thought it was just a random snack George liked. Never knew there was a deleted scene where he got bullied into buying a case.

The first deleted scene where George doesn't know how to say "No" brings more gravity to the _"Hey You! Get your damn hands off her!"_ scene. George couldn't say "No" to a Girl Scout selling peanut brittle, but when Biff is in the car with Lorraine -Biff menacingly tells George twice to walk away, George musters every bit of his courage to say "No" to the toughest boy in school.
It was peanut brittle not Girl Scout cookies. This explains Lorraine dumping a box of it into a bowl right before they find out Joey didn't make parole.

When you film the scene you love it but once you start editing all the footage together you have to make the film flow naturally or else it can feel off. Scenes like these did not really contribute to the plot it just slowed the pacing down. The peanut brittle is a good one but I can see why it was cut.

Like we didn't need Marty talking about feeling up his mom it is implied that he thinks it's messed up but it's between that or not existing. These scenes seem to treat the viewer as stupid unable to fill in the blanks like a friend that keeps explaining a movie to you because he thinks you don't get it.

Perhaps, the extended musical performance scenes wouldn't have been so bad. However, for the rest of them, they sure would have made things drag, and some of them could have really made things more awkward. It was a very good job of editing.

The scene when he talks to Doc by the car the night of the storm, we can see their breath. I didn't know it was _that_ cold! How strange. No wonder that part got cut out.
And it was only about 40% of the principle shooting, which had to be reshot with Michael. The DeLorean being chased by the Libyans was Eric Stoltz driving. Biff getting punched by Marty in the cafeteria was Eric Stoltz fist.
Imagine having a speaking part in one of the biggest movies in history and having it end up on the editing room floor, that must really suck for the actor who it happened to.

Goode is actually on RUclips in form of music video, the whole Darth Vader from the Planet Vulcan scene should have stayed, since I always felt it like an immediate cut after Marty does the Spcok salute, or maybe it was already implied when George tells Marty the whole thing the next morning. These scenes would made the movie 2 hours longer.
The "Darth Vader" scene would have been too long, plus the dark ending of Marty chloroforming his dad... it also made Doc look a bit like an ahole for even suggesting Marty do it.
Did the phone booth scene actually happen? Despites not being a part of the final movie, there’s such a time gap between George leaving the ballroom to meet Marty and him meeting Biff instead…
That'd be why there was a long time gap between George realizing he was late on the dance floor and arriving at the car in the parking lot. It doesn't really matter if he was trapped in the phone booth, or not. He was still late getting to the car; but, it still set up an epic "I'm not taking your crap anymore" moment.
The "pinch me" joke was used in "Airplane" but he says it to another man. In the final movie, George says he has trouble with confrontation. Not that he isn't a fighter.

I always thought that "You Got a Permit" scene in the movie was hinting that Doc Brown was about to bribe the cop. Even in the finished film it just felt like that's what was up. I didn't realize they actually shot the full scene like that HaHaHa my suspicions are confirmed.
Chuck Berry was the one most commonly credited with inventing rock and roll and he only took off in popularity some time in 1955, presumably shortly after BTTF takes place. Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens became popular in the late 50s after Elvis. Buddy Holly in 1957 and Ritchie Valens in 1959 while Elvis took off around 1956. There's so much subtext in that first scene. Other than the obvious lack of determination that Marty just pointed out, his neighbor just walks into his house, doesn't knock, doesn't greet, doesn't say thanks. He keeps nodding his head while delivering that 'ok', but deep down wishing to say 'no'. His neighbor walks out with five dollars and George is the one who has to close the door. It means it's not the first time it happens and his neighbors know he's a man that shows no resistance. He is so little respected that he'll have to go fetch the peanut brittle box to the neighbor's car, because he didn't even bother to bring one for him. George folds all the time, not a fighter at all.
It's truly amazing to see the director's ability to understand that these scenes would not work well in the movie and how good his decision to keep them out is.
One of my all-favorite movies of all time, and I think it was made wonderfully, and seeing these edits, makes me realize how much better the film is without them😎
If it were up to me, I would have left the scene showing Lorraine cheating at school and the Darth Vader extended scene in the movie. The other deleted scenes I’m okay leaving out.

Call it Chekhov's Hair Dryer. 🤣 The whole looking through the luggage scene just stopped the movie in its tracks, though. The scene took way too long just for a payoff of a really unfunny playboy joke, plus like you mentioned, they probably also realized that Doc would know what the hell a hair dryer was.

I love these movies. 6:33 to 7:25 Obviously this didn’t happen, but IF Marty failed to get his folks to fall in love, then he wouldn’t be born. That we know. But since he’d be the cause of this, then how would it be possible for him to come to the past in the first place? If he faded from existence, then the De Lorean would have too. The timeline would then go back and forth between two versions of 1985. One where Marty existed and went back in time to Unintentionally keep his parents from getting together so he’d fade away. And a second one where his parents were never together. But then it’d circle back again and repeat. So let’s face it: true time paradoxes are perfectly explored in the Terminator franchise because they show many humans and machines that travel through time and change the past, but then the next time around (because the version of the future they came from now doesn’t exist), they create a new and alternate timeline. It’s a real mind twister.
The real reason why there are so many alternative realities in the Terminator franchise is it is essentially a cash cow. That's the sad reality of this franchise, it's milked for cash until it literally gets so boring that people won't be interested in it anymore. Terminator really just ended with the 3rd movie, after that it's just an after party, which I don't find to be an official part of the franchise. I mean, it's relatively good to watch, but the original trilogy was really the best out there. Maybe Salvation was still part of the franchise and the original timeline, but Genesis is the first movie that essentially created the alternate universe, and it went downhill from there.
This is what we'd call a paradox. This is one of the main reasons time travel doesn't exist, and couldn't exist according to how it's depicted in science fiction. Too many paradoxes.

My idea for a Backtothefuture sequel trilogy is as follows: It is fourty years since the events in the three movies. DocBrown's house have been abadonned for fourty years and is in a shabby state.Three youths who live nearby goes there to clean up the place and make it ready for a sale. While they are cleaning the house they find the scematics for the delorean and how the fluxcapasator makes timetravels possible. They also find a video which shows one of the youths mother(possible Jennifer Parker)and she looks totally different than she looks today. the youths also sees DocBrown holding a newspaper where Biff has the Grey's sport allmanac in his pocket from 1955. They decide to build a new Delorean from DocBrown's scematics. When they are finnished they decide to bring the Grey's sport allmanac(which is in common sale in 2022) with them. They goes back to 1955 and knows allready that MartyMcFly detained JenniferParkers father when he took the caseboard apart in the first movie to use it as a regular board.The youths prevent this from happening by giving MartyMcFly another board to stand on while flying away from Biff. They also gives their fathers the Grey's sport allmanac. When they comes home they all live in wealth and luxury and JenniferParker looks like she looked in the first movie(played by ClaudiaWells or a lookalike)and it gives a happy ending to the first movie xD In the second movie three neighbours to the first movies aganoists who are envious discover videos that show everything was different just a few days ago.They start stalking the three youths and finds out about the Delorean timemachine.They also finds out about the Grey's sport allmanac.They decide to steal both the delorean and bring with them the Grey's sport allmanac.In 1955 they gives the Grey's sport allmanac to their grandparents.They then goes home to a life in wealth and luxury. In the third and last movie,our three antagonists suddenly wakes up and see everything has changed around them.They see the three neighbour youth now living in wealth and luxury and suspect that they has stolen the delorean and gone back to 1955. They decide to go back themselves and change the events that the three neighbours have caused. But there they meet a young DocBrown that warns them about making any more changes.He tells them he was contacted by his future selves and that he told him to warn eventual other timetravellers.
7:24 Not at all an insignificant concern he shares with Doc here. Marty has a girlfriend in 1985 whom he loves deeply, and who loves him deeply. The Marty now in 1955 is pained at the thought of losing his true love and hurting her.
The bribery scene should have been kept in, it always confused if The Doc had a real permit or not, seemed implausible that he would have one, since he's not that responsible or by the book.
I like that it isn't. It was only about 5 years ago when I watched it that the light bulb finally went off for me that he was bribing the cop. Subtle makes it more fun.

I think George overslept cause it gave him inspiration to write and so he stayed up really late writing

That cut footage of Johnny B. Goode is actually on RUclips in form of music video, the whole Darth Vader from the Planet Vulcan scene should have stayed, since I always felt it like an immediate cut after Marty does the Spcok salute, or maybe it was already implied when George tells Marty the whole thing the next morning. These scenes would made the movie 2 hours longer.
The "Darth Vader" scene would have been too long, plus the dark ending of Marty chloroforming his dad... it also made Doc look a bit like an ahole for even suggesting Marty do it.

In both versions George's wrist watch fails. In the official cut he checks a wall clock in the dance hall and realizes.
That'd be why there was a long time gap between George realizing he was late on the dance floor and arriving at the car in the parking lot. It doesn't really matter if he was trapped in the phone booth, or not. He was still late getting to the car; but, it still set up an epic "I'm not taking your crap anymore" moment.
I've had quite a few scenes deleted from my life in editing. It was for the best.

I always thought that "You Got a Permit" scene in the movie was hinting that Doc Brown was about to bribe the cop. Even in the finished film it just felt like that's what was up. I didn't realize they actually shot the full scene like that HaHaHa my suspicions are confirmed.

There's so much subtext in that first scene. Other than the obvious lack of determination that Marty just pointed out, his neighbor just walks into his house, doesn't knock, doesn't greet, doesn't say thanks. He keeps nodding his head while delivering that 'ok', but deep down wishing to say 'no'. His neighbor walks out with five dollars and George is the one who has to close the door. It means it's not the first time it happens and his neighbors know he's a man that shows no resistance. He is so little respected that he'll have to go fetch the peanut brittle box to the neighbor's car, because he didn't even bother to bring one for him. George folds all the time, not a fighter at all.

It's truly amazing to see the director's ability to understand that these scenes would not work well in the movie and how good his decision to keep them out is.

If it were up to me, I would have left the scene showing Lorraine cheating at school and the Darth Vader extended scene in the movie. The other deleted scenes I’m okay leaving out.

@@waveshock It was probably filmed as a setup, showing the hair dryer from the future, as a means to explain why in the Darth Vader from Planet Vulcan scene, George didn't realize that Marty was holding a hair dryer pretending it was an alien gun. Call it Chekhov's Hair Dryer. 🤣 The whole looking through the luggage scene just stopped the movie in its tracks, though. The scene took way too long just for a payoff of a really unfunny playboy joke, plus like you mentioned, they probably also realized that Doc would know what the hell a hair dryer was.

You know some scenes are deleted for a good reason.
Usually because they affected the flow/mood, were too "dark" in their context, too stupid, or didn't add anything to the story.
Often they are cut for running time and are still good scenes.
With exception of the peanut brittle scene, literally all these scenes make the movie make sense, they should have never been cut, yeah i get it, with theses scenes Doc looks more sleazy, but c'mon without some these scenes a lot doesn't make sense.
Between the overt references to feeling up Lorraine, Doc's creepy wink, and Marty's casual homophobia, cutting that scene with the cop was one of the smartest decisions they made with this movie 😬

The Darth Vader scene at 4:05 should have been left entirely in tact. The finalized version in the movie seemed too short and choppy.

I love these movies. 6:33 to 7:25 Obviously this didn’t happen, but IF Marty failed to get his folks to fall in love, then he wouldn’t be born. That we know.
But since he’d be the cause of this, then how would it be possible for him to come to the past in the first place? If he faded from existence, then the De Lorean would have too. The timeline would then go back and forth between two versions of 1985. One where Marty existed and went back in time to Unintentionally keep his parents from getting together so he’d fade away. And a second one where his parents were never together. But then it’d circle back again and repeat.
So let’s face it: true time paradoxes are perfectly explored in the Terminator franchise because they show many humans and machines that travel through time and change the past, but then the next time around (because the version of the future they came from now doesn’t exist), they create a new and alternate timeline. It’s a real mind twister.
The real reason why there are so many alternative realities in the Terminator franchise is it is essentially a cash cow. That's the sad reality of this franchise, it's milked for cash until it literally gets so boring that people won't be interested in it anymore. Terminator really just ended with the 3rd movie, after that it's just an after party, which I don't find to be an official part of the franchise. I mean, it's relatively good to watch, but the original trilogy was really the best out there. Maybe Salvation was still part of the franchise and the original timeline, but Genesis is the first movie that essentially created the alternate universe, and it went downhill from there.

This is what we'd call a paradox. This is one of the main reasons time travel doesn't exist, and couldn't exist according to how it's depicted in science fiction. Too many paradoxes.

My idea for a Backtothefuture sequel trilogy is as follows: It is fourty years since the events in the three movies.
DocBrown's house have been abadonned for
fourty years and is in a shabby state.Three youths who live nearby goes there to clean up the place and make it ready for a sale.
While they are cleaning the house they find the scematics for the delorean and how the fluxcapasator makes timetravels possible.
They also find a video which shows one of the youths mother(possible Jennifer Parker)and she looks totally different than she looks today.
the youths also sees DocBrown holding a newspaper where Biff has the Grey's sport allmanac in his pocket from 1955.
They decide to build a new Delorean from DocBrown's scematics.
When they are finnished they decide to bring the Grey's sport allmanac(which is in common sale in 2022) with them.
They goes back to 1955 and knows allready that MartyMcFly detained JenniferParkers father when he took the caseboard apart in the first movie to use it as
a regular board.The youths prevent this from happening by giving MartyMcFly another board to stand on while flying away from Biff.
They also gives their fathers the Grey's sport allmanac.
When they comes home they all live in wealth and luxury
and JenniferParker looks like she looked in the first movie(played by ClaudiaWells or a lookalike)and it gives a happy ending to the first movie xD
In the second movie three neighbours to the first movies aganoists who are envious discover videos that show everything was different just a few days
ago.They start stalking the three youths and finds out about the Delorean timemachine.They also finds out about the Grey's sport allmanac.They decide

goes home to a life in wealth and luxury.
In the third and last movie,our three antagonists suddenly wakes up and see everything has changed around them.They see the three
neighbour youth now living in wealth and luxury and suspect that they has stolen the delorean and gone back to 1955.
They decide to go back themselves and change the events that the three neighbours have caused.
But there they meet a young DocBrown that warns them about making any more changes.He tells them he was contacted by his future
selves and that he told him to warn eventual other timetravellers.
7:24 Not at all an insignificant concern he shares with Doc here. Marty has a girlfriend in 1985 whom he loves deeply, and who loves him deeply. The Marty now in 1955 is pained at the thought of losing his true love and hurting her.
Marty could have just told Lorraine, and maybe George, about Jennifer, and that might have made life easier for him.
The bribery scene should have been kept in, it always confused if The Doc had a real permit or not, seemed implausible that he would have one, since he's not that responsible or by the book.
I like that it isn't. It was only about 5 years ago when I watched it that the light bulb finally went off for me that he was bribing the cop.
Subtle makes it more fun.
@@davidm4566 Then why even have the cop scene in the first place? Would have been better to just cut the cop scene out, it didn't progress the movie other than Marty putting a letter into The Doc's jacket, which had nothing to do with the cop.
