Welcome to another Episode of Ross Reviews AU on this weeks Video we review this 1983 Porsche 911 SC* & in 1983 this was the world's fastest production convertible! capable of reaching speed of over 140mph (225kph) this car was in showroom condition.. and almost everything was perfect on this car.. truly amazing to think its 38 years old... you really have to love the old school flat 6 air cooled engines from porsche.. they just sound so good and love to be rev'd.
Huge Thanks to Short Shift Speed Shop for letting us review this 911 SC.. it is currently for sale so click the link :)

This brings back many happy memories for me. I was lucky enough to grow up in a household where my mum had a 911SC manual coupe, which she even took to road rallies with me as her navigator. This is a sensational car and it's great to see one in such good condition.
Wow, your mum must be one great lady, lucky for you to get to drive one once you get your driving license
@@zahemiazulislami2595 Thank you, yeah, it was unusual to have a mother who was the racey driver of the parents 😊 We were lucky with the car too. It was a used example at the time, but in great condition that she then kept for many years.
Wow - that’s a serious “claim to fame” for a petrol head - good for you!
Neither of my parents were into cars, and nor are my wife and kids. They all think I’m mad.
Classic 911s are such great looking cars this one is mint. Porsche's then a Ferrari mate this channel is getting the big names now.
just gotta get the new ones now haha..
This car has tits. Only two, mind. Cats have about 10, and are much less expensive. You can't Drive one, but cat's handle better and offer 10 functional mammary glands in the female model.
I've never been a huge Porsche guy too but this one is sooo gorgeous and what a wonderful sound ! Great to see this Euro car on your channel ! Perfect review :-)
thanks so much again mate for the support and comment :) loved this car 80s perfect
The old air cooled Porsche engine has such a unique and instantly recognizable mechanical, metallic whine! I always loved the tough angle of the exhaust on the 80's 911too!
they are soon cool eh.. gotta agree something about the older porsches they just have such style and charm
Beautiful car, love classic Porsche 911's. The person who detailed the car did a sweat job 😁👍
the car was in showroom condition!
I would take 911 from the 80s anytime from the current 911, the look is still head-turning, love the tail light...
im with you on that! the charm and character from these cars is far more entertaining than pure lap time records..
3:22 impressive 1st gear pull for a 80's car 🤙🏼
bloody oath mate!
What an immaculate car for it’s age! No big creases or cracks in the leather seats or dash. Even the engine bay looks great and so clean. I have a friend who imported a 1985 911 turbo from Japan in ‘06 , with a genuine 38K miles. He had the service history and sales receipt from new ( it was actually a California car as well, imported into japan by its last owner) . It also had a 964 update kit on it ( newer headlights bumpers & mirrors) . He converted here in Aus to RHD, but had to sell up in order to have enough to buy a house. It was my first and only Porsche experience, it’s truly a drivers car!
100% was in stunning condition.. amazing driver cars
Great review mate, and a bloody clean example! I had an opportunity to have a steer of a 2014 911Carrera, they really are drivers car! Loving the variety and cheers for sharing!
Thanks! 👍 the newer ones are downright insane! was a really clean example this one loved the black on black
You're a lucky guy RR. I've always been fascinated by the sound these make, especially at lower revs. They sound as energetic as you since you quite your job. Who wants to be employed if they can help it?
thank mate.. i felt very lucky to have driven this timeless Porsche! beautiful machine
I'm not the biggest fan of porsche but I always had a soft spot for this model after watching commando when Arnie flips the porsche back on its wheels and drives off haha
there is something about the older porsches that just have so much more personality and style
@@RossReviewsau sort of goes for all old cars I reckon
Looks very neat , amazing condition and great colour 👍
It really is!
I used to prefer the whale tail or the standard rear spoiler but as I get a bit older I personally find a preference for the more classic and more streamlined lines of that era 911 without the rear spoiler, I have had couple of 911s and also an SC cabriolet , not seeing this car in person bit hard to state but on the video , it would appear as the best sc cabriolet that I have ever seen and better than my dark green one . Thanks for the video .
Thank you mate
i must admit that car looks HOT!
VERY!
A tin can of rattling marbles. The experience starts with that simple thing.
Remember them new and....the type of people that tried to own one.
Amazing things!
a really great drivers car.. just that damn shifter ha! loved this car tho
at work we had a 90s 911 turbo s and it was beautiful
the style is really spot on with these older porsches eh.. love em
That's a great find for a review awesome.
was very lucky to be able to get behind the wheel! what an experience
I love a v8 as much as the next aussie. But God dam that flat 6 sounds on song. Loves the different cars your showing on the channel Ross keep it up and your channel will keep growing
seriously impressive for a 80s 6 cyl! amazing
New shift coupler bushings should improve the looseness and there are also a few aftermarket options to get it tight and “gate-like”. Some people also upgrade to newer 911 transmission.
would be an awesome car to own and fix up the shifter.. then it would be perfect
The higher the revs the easier it is to shift.
Great cars those old Porsche 911’s. Love the review of the old girl.
Thanks Peter! Fantastic car
There's really something about Porsche's that I really like but just can't find the word. Seriously one of the coolest cars on the planet imo.
there is something about them eh! just so much style.. very cool cars i loved this thing
@@RossReviewsau Yes thats the word! They are definitely very stylish.
Nice car, although I prefer a coupe.
In a properly set up early 911, it all comes together on a race track-you see what they are really designed for...
I went for a ride in a race '70s 911 RS, wow..
A road car like this would have been even more impressive when you consider its competitors in the early 80s in Australia- 308 Ferrari, Brock Commodores, 535i M BMW, that's about it!
each to their own.. i loved the open top experience.. would kill to go in a 70s 911 RS! THATS COOL!
Hi mate, yes I know this car well my uncle owned this exact same model but red in the late 80's,when he visited he'd take me for a spin & you should of seen the look on my mates faces lol, because he would put the foot down & she went bloody quick, this car is definitely a classic, nice review & thanks Johnny this brings back great memories, the 80's best decade ever you would of loved it man,I can see you now with a flanno & jeans on winnie blue in your mouth & a freshly cut mullet hahaha.
HAHA! oh mate would have killed it in the 80s! but i was born to the 90s lol this car was so cool tho could only imagine driving this back in the day! BOSS
A beautiful car, looks to be in mint condition, inside & out👌. The power of the car you reviewed looks manageable, add a turbo or two & thing's start to get a bit sketchy (RUF, Bisimoto).
Thank you! 👍 the power was pretty spot on for the age and capability.. still very quick a turbo would be down right scary lol
The older 911 Porsches are so nice
they really are so cool eh! loved the black on black
Nice one mate. Good job. Good looking car too.
Glad you enjoyed it mark! haha hope i got most of it right
Big fan of the whale tail
agreed they look so cool.. unfortunately this one did have it
Love that shape
it looks so good eh! ART
Nice old bus mate, say have you reviewed a Brock Commodore or a SLR5000 ?, same grouse 80s Muscle cars 💪💪💪
Unfortunately not yet but trying to find one!
Its so damn clean!!
was a real collectors piece!
good work .. the 930 turbo widow maker next
Cheers mate! was a blast to get out on the road
Seats are from a later car. 1983 didn’t have those. Great video!
Thanks for the info!
Looks clean and sounds mean as good stuff
one of the coolest cars ive done i think
G what a beauty , now thats a car .
so nice eh! was a real treat to drive and experience
Legend of a car .👍
Truly one of the best
Very rear and sportly!!
Such a nice car
@@RossReviewsau Yes! I have the same in black, 3.0 SC, drive over 25 years thic car, no problems, like a dream!
The coolest 80s convertible is the 87-89 3.2 Carrera
Hank Moody approved!
stunning conversion
I've always said, If I wasn't a Ferrari man, I'd be a Porsche man. Being of Italian/German desent it's in my blood.
was really good to experience both cars! both very good! 2 of the best
@@RossReviewsau Cheers...
How much is this one sold for? Looking for 80s 911.
I think they were looking for like 70-80k? From Memory
Just a suggestion, maybe get yourself a 4K camera? Now that you're doing this full time?
one day still not something i can commit to yet
4K isn't just the camera though. Suddenly everything else you have needs to be 4k, including GoPro's and the drone. Plus your editing PC will be hit harder during editing, and the files require 4x as much storage space. I'm faced with a similar issue, bit I'm not convinced 4k is that big of a deal when most people watch on their phones!
How was a right hand drive car sold in California?
Was converted with all original parts
How much did the car end up selling for?
I’m not sure tbh
I was looking for the porsche owners to come in here to say its not porsche...its pors- shaaaa.
i was waiting also lol
Had Red 1 Bodt STYLE In Put New Wheels Could not Tell ? Who Had two 911 Drop Top Hard Top I Have ENVOS
Originally a CA car with steering on right? Please gently close the deck lid.
Lol it’s been converted with original parts looks fantastic but i know the purists will hate
