  • "If we could make a modern acoustic guitar, what would we do?" That's how designer Brian Swerdfeger started his pitch for the American Acoustasonic Telecaster. With the help of engineers Tim Shaw, Larry Fishman and the team at Fender, the perfect collaboration formed to bring the Acoustasonic to life.

      Fender what are your thoughts on the Godin Acousticaster? Or the A6? Or the Kramer Ferrington? How is this a new development? Lol just because you invented the electric guitar... doesn’t mean you own every idea that came after it. You’re on your way to becoming the next Gibson if you don’t keep up with the affordable times. You guys are high on wood glue in Corona if you think that many people will buy this at $2k+

    • @blainekelley816
      @blainekelley816 5 лет назад

      @Josh R I don't agree, but you have the right to think otherwise. Research & Development is a wild animal, and it takes a ton of time, thought, technology, testing and then doing it all again 100 times before such an instrument is released. Just looking at the depth of the sides of that sound hole makes me see it is totally different than any acoustic or electric I've ever seen. I define that as innovative. Then add custom Fishman electronics to optimize sound = looks like a great new axe! Bottom line, let's go play it and then determine whether worthy of plunking down the cash or not.

    • @blainekelley816
      @blainekelley816 5 лет назад

      @Josh R 'way better' will be determined in the hands and ears of the player ... which is why we are fortunate to have so many good options. I just look forward to playing it and hope it is received well on it's own merits... not on history or perception.

    No doubt a long awaited home run for Fender. Every guy that loves Strats or Teles needs to try one of these. I don't know how they get so much sound out of such a thin lightweight beautifully constructed guitar. The fishman emulations are nice but I mostly play mine unplugged and enjoy the full rich sound with the super thin light weight beautiful oiled wood body with an ebony neck that is almost as easy to play as a Strat. Sound wise it can hold it's own with the big acoustics, hard to believe but true. I'm glad they made them a quality USA made product. They are beautiful and deserve the beautiful craftsmanship and materials. Sell a couple Strats off your wall and get one. A keeper for sure.

    These are amazing guitars. I’ve made my living playing and singing for 30 years. I’d say these are the most comfortable, easy to play, lightweight, and most versatile guitars I’ve ever played. Also, they sound much better plugged than all of the many expensive Taylors and Martins I’ve used through the years. Good grief... I’ve tried so many. I’ve Had a black Acoustasonic Tele since early 2019 (played a lot of gigs with this one before COVID-19 ended live entertainment) and have a Ziricote Acoustasonic Strat too. Thanks, Fender!

    Probably my comment will get lost in this section but I think it's worth a shot. So here it goes: This video really inspired me from an engineering standpoint. I just love how much passion you put into the making and the product design. All the R&D, the testing but foremost, the passion. I can relate to this people doing what they love and I'd love to be part of what you guys do as well. I have a small workshop in my hometown where I do service to people's guitars. I do maintenance and setups, calibrations, intonation, work on the electronics and what not. But that is only a part-time job of mine. What I really do is I'm a sales engineer and the Ensenada B.C. Fendre plant is one of my clients. I sell SolidWorks and CamWorks as my full time job. However, I've always been involved in the manufacturing industry rather than the product design industry. I'm a bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering with a minor in Mechanical Engineering and I'm a diehard guitar nerd. It is my dream to be able to work in the product development of a great guitar company such as Fender is! I know this is not the most appropiate place to post something like this but I felt the need to do it anyway after watching this video. So the next question goes like this: is there a chance I can land a job with you so I can make a difference in the guitar industry evolution in the years to come? I think that social media has a great impact in the way we live now and I think I can at least get a reply from someone in Fender. If you want to help me out, give me a thumbs up to get noticed. I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you all and have a great day, and of course, a great NAMM this weekend!

    I fell in love with this guitar idea. I'm mostly an electric guitarist but occasionally I do solo acoustic shows and this seems like a practical idea for me, but.... honestly, as a working musician, I just can't afford it at this price point.
    How about a model made in Mexico, without the digital processor and minus the electric pickup and tones? Just a very good quality Fishman pickup with the basic EQ (bass, mid, treble) and a tuner. And the volume knob near the bridge for easy access. Strip it down to the absolute basics and keep it at a, say $599.99 price point.
    It would be a great guitar to take to small gigs and easy to transport on a plane as well.
    What do you think, Fender?
    You can do it.

    That's amazing, but I'm 95% sure in a year they'll discontinue it like most innovative models. I hope it's as good as they hype it up to be!

      Yea I rarely see anyone play it that includes those guitar RUclips channels who played it once for the sponsorship and then never played again. Reminds me of when orange wood guitars gave every RUclipsr a guitar and those same players never touched it again.

    Beautifully crafted video with lots of "human touch". Love it. And I just ordered mine in Natural. Can't wait to get my hands on it for my mainly acoustic sets with a bit of grit thrown in here and there!

    Congratulations on your new design! After millions of guitar this Acoustasonic could be compelling. I will have to check it out. If it sounds reasonable unplugged that will be impressive. As a loudspeaker designer I am wondering... Did you tune the sound port to extend the low frequency response acoustically? It looks like there is some added length in the thickness which is a good idea.

    Very interesting, never see a soundhole that looks like that lol. Can;t wait to ask my teacher about this next lesson and get a speech. Wonder if they will ever do this with one of their basses.
