So if you can actually travel out of the dream world to the stranger again, that means you can enter on a dream within a dream, narratively speaking🤔

The implications of what happens when you put the lantern down on Giants Deep and walk away vs what happens where they are located within the dream is intriguing. Regardless of it being a glitch I mean. It’s interesting, almost as if to show that’s reality and not a simulated space, or something like that. Still just a glitch ultimately, but all of these things shared in the video are interesting and very cool. Especially the inside of their ring planet, that was a trip.
The dream world and the entities inside it have wireframe textures associated with them, so the game can show them to you. Other ovjects or places not meant for accessing in the dream do not have these textures, so it's all black.
oh thats awesome, the game's simulation must still be focused on where you passed out cuz that's the same shit that happens on the map when you fly far enough out
Yup I think it’s called floating point error. It’s because the origin of the coordinate system for the game is the player’s character, everything moves relative to you. So if things are too far from you the numbers get big and calculations become a lot less precise.
@@_fnch_ yeah, they programmed it like that because it's more important for the game to be accurate where you are than where the planets are
also means whenever you jump, it's actually the planets jumping off of you
You could access the super secret reel on the 2nd floor of the forbidden archive in the chasm with this trick. Coolio!

@@gavo7911 it's the super secret reel my comment mentioned. You can jump down on top ofbthe elevator going down into the archive and hop off onto the 2nd floor before the elevator lands at the ground floor. There's a hidden reel up there!
Which location? Lowlands, cove, or lodge?

I would love to see you launch your scout in the dream world, and then see where the signal is back in the normal world. I'm assuming if this worked it would show you where the dream world is located while not rendered?

My guess is since it’s not expected to be part of the simulation in the first place, even in debug mode it looks normal, which would look so out of place compared to all the blue.
I always considered the dream world to simply be a part of the stranger, and when you enter it it deloads the stranger and replaces it with the dream world along with the skybox. This is very odd to witness
Considering the stranger is a ring, while all the dream zones are flat & side-by-side (the loading tunnels are only for detail rendering iirc, not actual loading)

i think i discovered this without the vid. i played outer wilds with some mods on, including one that removes the stranger cloak. it was pretty good, until the stranger started appearing in the simulation sky ? i wondered why, but i figured out that the simulation was simply spawning in the system whenever you entered it
I've seen that before, friend was shenaniganizing their Dreamworld Modding Assist mod to fast-travel into/out of dream zones/ reality, and load zone weirdness made the same thing happen.
It's kinda beautiful to see it in the sky with the homeworld still beating underfoot
earlier i managed to get it to land but the fall damaged reactor and it exploded before i got there :/

@@erikd16 I assume someone botched the landing on the Stranger, discarded the ship in space, and then later the ship crash landed on the dream world, haha.

I had that same question but unfortunately I haven’t been able to get the solar system to load into the dream world again since this video. No idea how I did it
@@erikd16 i think it has something to do with following the loading zones until you reach one where it's supposed to loop back around, but doesnt because you're out of bounds. just did it

Does anyone know how or why this happens?
I think it’s because the dream world is loaded into the main map but everything else is cloaked. Positioning your ship there works because when the stranger starts to move away from the supernova, I think it bumps the ship into where the dream world has loaded
But why does it work??
I think when the solar sails open up it knocks your ship in the direction of the dream world, which I THINK is present at all times but camouflaged normally.
The stranger moves away from the sun after about 5ish minutes, so when you're in its gravatational pull, you fall out of it, and the ship starts falling in the loading bubble (so long as that section of the dreamworld is loaded
@@erikd16 The dream world is only spawned in when you're inside of it, but it spawns in the same location regardless of where the stranger is, so you can just park your ship there if you know where it is and go to the dreamworld and it'll be there

Haven’t tried it recently but the devs said in a speed run commentary that they would never patch it out because it’s too much fun

So um you could have dropped the lantern and gotten into the ship quickly enough not to drown and then went back to get the lantern
