  • This is my 2,167m Void Base, along with the addition of the "Abandoned" section. This was created on a PS5 in survival mode with ZERO mods.
    Credit for the music goes to Simon Chylinski, the game's phenomenal composer.

    The rooms have personality, aesthetica, and even functionality too. The Synthetic Cove Tree was so beautiful! Not to mention, you somehow made the distance between the Abandoned Base and your own Moonpool to be nearly the perfect distance for your oxygen tank's time!
    And oh my lord. The music. You chose the music perfectly to fit the mood and environments. The little mini-plot as well from you sprinting between your own base and the abandoned base, as well as how you baited the Ghost Leviathan at the Abandoned Base's Moonpool. It is all so good.

    This is insanely good man! Can't praise this cinematic tour enough! Like you can clearly see how much planning went in every step. The key things that impressed me the most about your planning is that you calculated the time it would take your oxygen tank to deplete and made the base at such a distance where you end up having barely any oxygen in the end which makes it look like you barely avoided death and also the timing of when to use statis rifle was quite important and you did it amazingly well! The environment building was amazing too like the seamoth not having the depth upgrades adding to the vibe of 'abandoned base' and the overall engineering of the bases was quite visually appealing as well!

    I love the idea of the void not just being a cut off zone and actually having lore, I love the idea of another crew having got there somehow and having a base out there. Especially the text and such you put up. Would be absolutely terrifying to travel out into the void to go into some sort of lore base or something.

    Absolutely amazing. I especially like the "depths of insanity" base you made in the deepest parts and the insane dash through the leviathan to safety. Seriously, I think if you had narration and some clean editing (I liked the one cut idea but maybe chop out some of the fluff like the swims between bases get shorter and the pauses while swimming or walking) this could have as many views as any subnautica video. Stellar work bud.

    • @NJShadow
      @NJShadow  2 года назад +71

      I really wish I could have used the soundtrack that I originally did on Reddit, but I know RUclips is a lot more touchy with that. I did have an original edit that was a smidge more atmospheric, but I'm hoping to revamp this soon, since I've powered up the "abandoned" portion, drained it, and am approaching 3,000m now. Appreciate the constructive criticism; I'll take that into account next time.

      Personally, I loved the 1 cut as is. Felt like a mini movie almost, especially with the abandoned base and all the altera messages.
      I do have a question though. Are you getting lag as you build each base piece? I built a pretty massive void base down to 1.2km and starting to go under the map, but the lag for each piece is starting to drive me nuts

    • @NJShadow
      @NJShadow  Год назад +22

      @@travelingtango Yeah, there was some definite lag building, but it doesn't seem to get TOO bad on PS5; it's definitely noticeable though. I've actually gotten to the point where saves are broken due to the lack of memory, so when I start, if I build anything, I have to actually make sure I'm also disassembling a bunch of stuff as well. Since the game is basically forcing me to do so, I've started removing large chunks of the upper base in order to go deeper. That super long tube that takes you straight down with the ladder? Gone. It's definitely providing me an excuse to get more creative though.

    • @travelingtango
      @travelingtango Год назад +3

      @@NJShadow - nice!
      One thing I'm going to try is build a separate base and then connect them, because the lag seems to be isolated to an individual base, not the total base pieces across the save.

That said, I've never even entertained the idea of building deep into the void. I've built some bases in some wild areas but those areas were always rich in resources, the void though, is completely empty and yet you built this work of art in that zone, you deserve absolute props for all the effort my guy, and thanks for the idea because in my next playthrough I'll start contemplating on building this, though there is no way I could match the narrative part you have going on here.
