Hello GL, so happy today, I won the January prize draw! - Coupon already spent in store, it really made my day, thank you! - Also want to thank you for taking the time to share your skills and knowledge, I'm new to leather craft and find your info and shop a valuable resource. Look forward to new vids and receiving my box of goodies, soon! Take care x
Hi Fiona. Congratulations on winning this month's give-a-way competition! I hope you enjoy your goodies, when they arrive. Thanks again for your support.
Can I just say a massive thankyou! I used to sew leather 3 piece suites back in the 90's before i started my nursing and due to lockdown (and my opal and silversmithing obsession) have got back into tinkering with leather. Having machine sewn items all my life I'm slowly learning about hand stitching. Luckily i also have cutting and pattern making experience albeit seriously rusty! Your videos have been a life saver and seriously useful. I'll be getting the press that you suggested (thankyou for saving me a small fortune too) due to the economy of scale. One of my friends wanted a leather necklace hence the diversifying into leather as well as jewelry. I'm learning more from you than i ever thought i needed to learn. Thankyou and keep up the good work!
I have a 8 shelf full sheet Baltic birch book case style I use for my leather. It's convenient so it keeps the different types of leather separate. Pig skin on one shelf. Buffalo on another etc. I can reach it easy enough to. I don't buy a lot at one time, but do buy like double shoulders and halves. I can't use halves. I don't make a lot of belts mostly straps of no more the 2 cm. It's easy to pick up and end and get to smaller pieces. Usually 2 or 3 stacks on a shelf. Softer leather I roll it up on. pvc and put a rubber band on each end. Works fairly well. I have been think of buying larger diameter of pvc like 2 in and get a full joint of 3 or 4 inch and cut 1 ft section to clip over the roll of leather. I don't know if that would help or damage the leather. That's still in the debate stage. I'm not going to do it until I have evidence it will work.
Love your informative videos. Just got myself a hot foil press after watching your video. Do you have a leather skiver? Would love to see a video on leather skiving.
@@HobbyBloxs is you upcoming video on an electric skiver? I do have a hand skiver and I have ruined too many pieces to keep trying. It’s one of those you clamp to the table. Also have a manual hand skiver but it takes forever is I want to sew a while leather handbag. Looking at investing in a techsew skiver.
@@sabrinacharette6357 Yes, it is an electric "Bell Skiving Machine". It will be a few months before I get to make this video, as it's way down in the queue.

I wouldn't wind the leather too tight - it may damage it. Maybe 3" or greater pipe?
Great tips! I am new to leather crafting and I am learning a lot from your videos. Thank you.
Happy to help!
I love practical advice like yours. I'm just starting. I need the very basic "leather 101". Thank you so much! Subscribed!
Hi. Welcome. I'm going to be starting a beginner 101 series in the near future.
OLD LEATHER SMITH here, Nice ideas Thanks, GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️⚾🙃
Thanks.
Did you mention your process on how you find the leather you need if they're all hiding in black non-transparent bags

Hi. I'll be covering using a skiving machine in an upcoming video. But I do have a video on hand-skiving, if you check out the channel list.

would be nice to hear your vid in stereo ;-)
Hi. Thanks. It was recorded in stereo but due to some technical glitch, it is playing in mono on RUclips.
I thought storing leather in a plastic bag is bad? Doesn't leather need air flow to breathe?
