Thanks so much for this. It helped me immensely to get started with mine!
Some additional tips for those getting started:
    - Ask whoever you're buying your brass set from to drill a threaded M4 (4mm) hole in the centre of the T-slot holder that comes with any new lettering set
    - Also make sure you have a threaded M4 bar / rod that's 3-4cm long to fix the T-slot holder in place on the machine, as shown in the video. Most I found on eBay were 5cm long and I had to cut off the excess with a hacksaw. An M4 rod (4mm wide) fits perfectly in the U-slot that the machine has in the heating plate. I think an M5 would fit as well, but probably quite snugly. Don't forget to buy a washer and a wing nut to tighten too!

Thank you for this tutorial. I have watched so many on this machine and not gotten the information out of them for the questions I had about it. Your videos are so informative, by not speaking on it with the machine next to you. You can see you truly want to inform other through demonstrations with a working machine while you’re explaining your own experiences, your own trial’s & error’s to help educate others to test for themselves. I have now subscribed so I can watch more of your videos to learn from your experience. I also have Lupus so my hands go through cycles of not working so well. So your video messages and honesty helps to keep my spirit up that it can be done if you just make a process that works for yourself. Thank you again 😊

Hello. Thank you for your kind words. I'm pleased you found the video helpful and that it answered your questions. I had to look up Lupus, as I hadn't heard of it. That sounds like a challenging condition and I can see how this would affect your hands. Best of luck and keep making the effort - It's better to keep going with your hobbies than to give in to your condition. Geordie.

*Works perfectly for my use as a heated press **MyBest.Tools** Space between the ram jack and the base is a little tight. Make sure you set the ram jack arm so that it's in a position for you to get maximum leverage on whatever you're pressing. You may have to unbolt the front plate of the press and realign the ram in the teeth so that the arm is not at an awkward angle when fully cranked down.Other than aligning the ram in the teeth with the crank arm this .5 ton arbor press comes out of the box pretty much ready to use.*

Hello, great video. I use several brass stamps but none have the bolt attachment or thread. Is there another way to fix the brass stamp to the unit? Thanks

Hi I believe you can use heat-resistant double-sided tape. I've never used it but might be worth googling!

You are an incredible help! Thank you so much for your time spent on this video and for showing an inexpensive machine and such invaluable tips on how to line the things up. I will be having dog collars made by my leathersmith but would love to finish them with embossing - with your template tip, I may give it a go, as the collars do lie flat. Thank you!

Nice tutorial - thanks - One thing is that the IR Thermometer will give very inaccurate results from a shiny surface :)

Hello Nightowl. This video was made a long time ago, so I don't remember the font. But the size was 6mm.

Can you stamp and leave an impression with patent leather using this machine or will it burn the clear coat on the patent?

Hi Geordie ! Great video !! The way you explain is so clear !!!
I bought one of these machines but I’m having trouble to stamp on textured or embossed leather, do you have any suggestion? Thank you !!!

    • @HobbyBloxs
      @HobbyBloxs  4 года назад +2

Hi. It sounds like you may not be applying enough pressure. As I say in the video - You need to experiment on some scraps of the leather in your project and try different temperatures, time and amount of pressure applied. I hope this helps.

    Hello Geordie!
Thank you for the inspirational video! What size press board do you use? Maybe you already said it in the video, but I'm just asking because my English is not that good.
    Looking forward to your reply!
