Very helpful as I've been trying to foil something 3 times and couldn't figure out why it wasn't working until you mentioned the weight of the paper used to be foiled was important. And that I believe is what my problem was. Thanks so much for all of you helpful tips, especially making the hinge so the foil doesn't move.
Your tips have been great for me as I am new to the system. I especially liked the hinge trick. It has saved me a lot of frustration. Would love tips and storage ideas for the foil tubes.
Hi Yanna. My glimmer hot foil system from spellbinders. The ready light does not flash, and know Spellbinders won't replace or fix. The machine works fine. Do you know how long i should leave plate and paper before I run it through my die cutting machine? The green light hot notification works. Just the flashing and stop flashing does not work. Beautiful card and your line and cards are classy...just like you.
I just bought my Glimmer machine, Yana! After shopping for hot foil plates, I had my first play... not such great results! So happy to have all of your tips - back to the drawing board! AFTER watching which papers work the best! Thanks, Yana! xx
I played 3 times and my results are awful. Im so sad. I really wish i was good at it, im doing exactly what everyone does in videos and i use the hammermill paper too. I wish it worked well for me :(
Thanks for the tips! I've only hot foiled a couple things. I just moved to New Zealand; most of my craft stuff is still on a ship crossing the ocean (it left in August but now arrival pushed back to January! ugh!). How are things where you are? I really hope you are all doing well!
Oh wow that is a loooooong transit. I hope you get your goodies soon. Things could be better down here. We only have electricity 8 hours a day(4 during the day and 4 during the night). And it us winter. So tough. But I don't want to complain
@@Yana.Smakula Definitely a long transit! But is it beautiful here and the people are super friendly. You have every right to complain. I feel so bad for you and your countryfolk having to go through that. I am thinking about all of you and how tough it must be - very much hoping things get better soon!
I watch all your videos for hot foiling and have learned so much. I need to know how to store my hot foil plates so I know what I have. Can you please give me some ideas. Thank you
I store them the same way I store my dies - I cut chipboard to 6x6", adhere a magnetic sheet on top and stick my plates there. I have them all sit on the top shelf of my rolling cart. You can look up magnetic sheets on Amazon. I have a craft room tour video on my channel, it shows it briefly.
Thank you for your reply, I have my hot foil plates on magnetic sheets but don't know what some of the plates like words say. If when I am hot foiling would like to be able to go to the sheet and have the words I want. Do you have a sheet that shows what words are on what magnetic sheet? I am sorry to go on and on just trying to explain myself. I appreciate all the help you can offer.
I don't have a sheet like that. But I imagine you could foil the words on a scrap piece and adhere it from the back of your magnetic sheet. You could even adhere a storage pocket and keep any extra foiled pieces in there. In fact, I think I am going to try it.
Oh absolutely! Glossy photo paper foils perfectly! But, I would advise putting a sheet of scrap paper onto glimmer hot surface as the heat may melt the glossy coating of the photo paper and photo paper might stick to glimmer surface
@@Yana.Smakula Thanks so much, I'm glad you mentioned that...I would not have known. I just bought my machine and some of your wonderful dies. I'm looking forward to using them and hopefully they will be 1/10th as beautiful as yours.
Hi Yana. I’ve been saving up to buy the Glimmer system. It’s been out of stock for some time and I have bought the foil in the meantime. I just checked and it is discontinued. What else can I use now? Thank you
i actually foiled my plates this week. i wasnt paying attn and the pretty side of the foil was facing away from the plates. now i have gold hot foil plates 🤣
Thanks so much for all the great information and tips, Yana! I have a question about the two cutters that come with the foil trimmer set. I know one is marked for foil and one is marked for paper, but do you see a visual difference between the two blades? Or maybe they are the same blade in each holder, but marked separately so we keep each one dedicated for its purpose?
It doesnt matter, I've done it a bunch of times. You can remove it if it bothers you, using an adhesive remover such as Un-du. Just dont scrape the plate
There is nothing better to start my day than watching a Yana Hot Foiling video. If I ever have a foiling issue Yana has a video with the answer.
Awww, thank you so much! ❤❤❤
I am new to hot foiling, Thank you for such clear instructions and tips. I think I am ready to try these new techniques.
Yay! I'm glad ❤️ have fun!
Excellent tutorial on the Glimmer machine and foil-thank you!❤
Glad it was helpful!
You are the first video that has determined that I’m a convert. Spellbinders will likely be my choice. Glimmer machine. Can I use it with a big shot.
Thanks for the refresher. One of these days I'm going to try spilling again. I do really like your foiling sets.
I just got my machine and thanks to you I’m learning. I couldn’t do it without you. Thank you

Loved your video, I have real trouble when trying to line up my glimmer plates, foil, and card. Are there any tips on how to keep them all in place? X

Thank you! I can't wait to start hot foiling!!
Wonderful information
Many many thanks
Yana, thank you for this video. I have another hot foil machine, but the techniques are similar.
Very informative. Thank you. I don’t use mine enough but I’m going to give it more more thought and use the tips you gave me.
Thank you for the video. I have the glimmer machine but hasn’t use it yet! Now I will!!💕
Your card is amazing! It is very classy ❤.

My issue was tremdous amount of "under foiling" like it's not even adhering to the paper. Id love if my only issue was over foiling:(
Yana, thanks so much for sharing!! It was very helpful!! I did to use it more!!!
Time to get my machine out! I use a lot of these tips, I did learn them from you!
Thanks I have become a pretty good foiler thanks to you

they are the same. i have the trimmer
@@bobbyfitzgerald4165 Thank you!
Can you tell me if the glimmer system can do foil mates toner sheets
I tend to get little bits of foil that I don't want... what is the best way to erase those?
Beautiful, love washing your video❤️.
Can I use any coloring medium or just Copics?
I have used both my Karin Pro Brushmarkers & Watercolor pens with it. I used Bristol Smooth cardstock on it.
Thank you so much Yana!
I love my machine, but i do wish it had a timer that beeped when it is ready. My only disappointment in it.
i put the foil upside down and got foil on my solid plate. Help...how do I get it off or does it matter?
It doesnt matter, I've done it a bunch of times. You can remove it if it bothers you, using an adhesive remover such as Un-du. Just dont scrape the plate
@@Yana.Smakula thank you, phew. I thought I ruined it. Thank you for the great tips on the video.
I do no succeed.... I am thinking of selling it 🥴 so many triouts so much cardstock gets thrown.... 🤦🤷
Have you tried using specialty cardstock? It foils wonderfully
@@Yana.Smakula hi dear. I used the same cardsrock as you. SSS 120 LBS. I WISH I COULD SHOW YOU THE RESULT
