In pairs, bot inventors go head-to-head inside the perilous and bullet-proof BattleBot arena, with the aim of destroying or completely disabling their opponent’s machine.
During each episode, we meet the creators behind these awesome machines. From amateurs and super-smart technology students to seasoned professionals who have dedicated their lives to creating the ultimate fighting robot, find out what drives these charismatic inventors, and how they turn their visions into supreme battling robots.

Possibly the worst opponent for Shatter to end up against. Hard to use a hammer weapon when everything just bends, or is difficult to even hit. While with most opponents going head on with shatter would be a nightmare, Huge can do so without serious risk.
shatter's driver was just bad. he should have taken the shot right from the front, only about 20% chance of hitting the weapon dead-on, that leaves 80% chance to hit the body or on side of the weapon, into the motor or belt.
i don't know what shatter was trying to do by circling around, not like he can do any damage from sides and back/front are basically same.
@@SethiozProjectthey explained in the beginning. The hammer loses about half it's power hitting a high target like huges main body. Also they already swapped out their regular pick for a slicing weapon hoping to cut huges wheels.
@@goldenking2046 even horizontal spinners have an hard time cutting through the wheels , let alone a hammer
@@goldenking2046 cutting wheels is useless, it's common sense and basic physics .. it will never work. it was able to withstand carbide, what a little hammer can do? i have seen huge's wheels getting destroyed only once.
only chance shatter would have against huge, is to hit it straight into weapon or body. one angled shot near weapon should be enough to break the weapon.
@@TheTrooperMB A net would beat horizontal spinners but lose to a machete.
HUGE started to show signs of this performance level last year but now it's gone fully beast mode. It's fast enough to control other bots and poses a serious threat to the top tier verts. I can't recall any other time Shatter (a very heavily armored bot) was handed a beating this thorough. Not even Deep Six from last year was doing this level of damage to them.
i can't think of any other "clown bot" that has been turned into competitive bot, that makes huge probably the only joke-bot that has become truly competitive.
@@SethiozProject Huge excels in lower weight classes , this design was scaled up from a smaller version , the same as Horizon
@@SethiozProject HUGE has never been a joke. It came closer to beating Bite Force than anyone else has (after Chomp) in its debut season, and likely would have won that if ICEWave hadn't done so much damage to them in the prior match.
Since then the selection committee's been doing everything they can to keep HUGE from challenging the 4WD verts, so we haven't really been able to see their true potential as the top anti-meta design.
From being split in half in its debut, to THIS.
Exactly why HUGE is up there in my heart alongside MAMMOTH and SMEEEEEEEEEE!

I thought Huge was a mistake last year - it seemed under-powered, vulnerable, and non-threatening. I now see its potential. The wheels are great shields, and it's nearly impossible to get at its insides without getting slammed by its monster hammer blade. Good job guys!
I genuienly understand where you're coming from. HUGE was unorthodox, and it's easy to doubt new concepts.
I personally was always a huge fan of huge.

@@jordanc8499 I HIGHLY recommend the browser extension called "SponsorBlock". It's entirely user submitted, but the coverage is INSANE. I usually find 99% of BattleBots (and even stuff like NHRL) has highlight tags already set so I can find the start instantly.
HIGHLY recommended, plus then there's more people contributing to the dataset.

starchild need a bit of a redesign, that wishbone thing blocks them from hitting too much, needs arms similar to huge to stop it from hitting the floor. I suspect Huge will rip it apart, but lets give SC some credit for 1st year new design.
@@jacobe1942 Starchild’s design has been proven in smaller weight classes and similarly functioning thwackbots have worked in this weight class. I think it’s mainly down to them learning how to drive and control it. But yeah. The wishbone could be smaller or something. Maybe they can use a self balancing system like a hoverboard or a Segway scooter, or like a camera gimbal. Don’t know how easy that would be to implement though.
Huge has gone from little more than a novelty to being a seriously dangerous competitor. I can't think of another bot in the sport that's improved that much from where it started.

I love that fight but I feel bad for Shatter! as it was a huge struggle to get 1 win starting by their loss against HUGE.
You have to admit… shatter wearing HUGE’s eyes was a cute touch

My main delight is seeing HUGE's spinup time for the bar seems to have really been cut down. That bar spinner seems far more consistently dangerous this season!
The armor on HUGE’s wheels is an amazing defense tactic. Even with the weight, it was so so maneuverable!!

Huge has really improved in defense and tactics. How it uses the big wheels as shield is brilliant.
I've been feeling bad for the Huge team, until today! This is a wicked win! Well earned!
I remember Huge being a joke at its debut, this was incredible.
Shatter taking off Huge's balance bar shows that Shatter most definitely had a chance to win.
Followed up by getting Huge off balance at 7:18 which potentially even could have ended up with Huge stuck sideways.
If that'd happened, the announcers would have been talking about the insane strategy of Shatter to take out the balance bar, and then use that axe as a flipping arm.
Shatter managed to hit a weapon belt on Huge (8:52), but it looks like Huge has four of them.
The huge team spent some off season time working with their 30lb design to really 'get' it perfect. More redundant parts, tougher but more flexible wheels. I dont seem them as a threat to win, but they are going to be a pretty fun to watch spoiler team because their design is SO different. Its got such a high resistance to hammer and vertical spinner designs...
@@jaymorrison2419 They've always been so fun to watch. I'm hoping their 30lb one will make an appearance at NHRL this year; I think it did last year.
@@JeffJackowski They did! Them and Smeeeee both had 30lb versions. Is it bad that I would love to see Big League Battlebots at 50lbs too, like the old days? After watching some of the Norwalk havok fights, they have 30lb bots that seem like they would happily take it to some of the 'also rans' in the 250lb main arena here.
@@jaymorrison2419 Not bad at all! I personally like watching the NHRL fights better than Battlebots. Lighter bots doesn't mean less destruction or less fun.

Huge is really improving. Respect.
I hate to say it, but the time of hammer-bots is really over. Every now and then under perfect circumstances, they can do some damage, but by in large, the 'bots are so well built and designed now they just end up flailing around and doing nothing. That said, I love Huge and Shatter for not following the 'wedge and vertical spinner' formula that has taken everybody else over.
Beta doesn’t seem to flail around. I think they’re still a solid hammer bot competitor

Thats the best driving and control I have seen from Huge. Made a big difference in their victory.

This entire fight was basically the dwarf sized kid of the class trying to pick a fight with the behemoth that sits at the back

It's hard to take the announcers saying "battlebots meta" seriously now that I know there's a selection committee that controls who is allowed to compete.
You want to see a bot that can't move on the show?
No, but that sounds like a bad idea regardless.
meta is meta we all can see the meta. as for the selection committee well theres alot of bots and teams. if new teams fail hard they may not be coming back next season, because other new teams deserve a go. + the OG winning teams everyone wants to see and the season would be lacking
And who they fight, which gives them power over who gets into the tournament. Which means there's nothing stopping them from targeting bots they don't want in.
The evolution of Huge is really satisfying as a day 1 fan. Finally HUGE HAS ARRIVED
I think shatter just needs more weight on the hammer and also it’s amazing how more durable the hammer or axe is the last time it went ok a spinner it literally SHATTERED

Huge has improved a lot since it's debut.People tend to copy what other successful bots are doing but nobody has anything like huge.Starchild does resemble huge but it's weapon isn't much.
Its smart to have most of the expensive parts to replace out of reach!!

Love the show and all robot fighting. cant wait untill thursday after a 2-3 week LONG break lol. man everytime the show-season ends i get a bit depressed because i know i will have to essentially wait a whole year for the next season... but oh well, if only battlebots had 3-5x the budget to do 2 seasons a year
Huge is actually a great design. The wheels can absorbs tons of damage and lift the body above the attacks of most robots like horizontal spinners.
I loved the little "victory dance" HUGE did once the countdown concluded. BTW Both my mom and my maternal aunt are also from Connecticut, so that's another reason I like HUGE.
i like how Huge pass from a weak bot to one of the strongest bot, completing the season with only 1 loss, it's insane how improving the wheel can make all the difference

I wouldn't call Huge a troll bot, it's a meta-breaker. Specifically designed to beat vertical spinners like Witch Doctor and End Game. Has historically had some trouble with horizontals (Icewave/SOW), other bots that can reach it (Uppercut), and bots that hit like a freight train with massive weapons (Riptide (ugh)/Deep Six), but they've had an amazing year and they've got a pretty clear run in the tournament up until the semis this year. Then they meet either End Game or Riptide. If they meet End Game, there's a shot. Riptide has me very nervous. You could say I'm a pretty huge Huge fan, haha

Its the force an performance that matters size doesn't always equal good or success just like small doesn't always mean disappointment an failure!
