Exactly Janet. It's an old recipe from a 1912 cookbook. Being an old recipe doesn't mean it will be good, either. It's the gummy texture that threw me off.

Yes, Martha. Just spooning it out, I knew it wouldn't be good. There was no pudding! I felt it was important to share the bad results.

I think it would have been good to have a little baking powder or baking soda in it..or use self rising flour...
