    I still just can't believe how ahead of his time Etho has always been, especially with the ender porter. Hermitcraft wouldn't be the same without him, or really any Minecraft world with how much Etho has invented with his incredible mind.

    Cubfan135 actually did the teleporter a long time ago, he made something that froze the ender pearl in the air using friction from soul sand and pushing it back up with a piston. Then he did something with glass panes and a boat making it so that if he looked at the color pane it would drop the ender pearl. you should have a look at that video etho.

      martijn p This setup is amazing. It fixes the problem I was having with teleporting inside a water block, it seems to be kinda awkward to get out. While etho's design allows to teleport out of spawn area, this is better to teleport from anywhere towards spawn. And etho's spawn is not far from his man-base.

    Let us take a moment to realize: this is a major design for Minecraft history. It may be compacted or even made redundant, but this is the beginning of instant travel in Minecraft.
    No longer will you measure your world by the amount of rails you lay down between bases, but by the number of EthoPorters.
    No longer shall we have to starve to death running through long Nether tunnels, for we can teleport much faster!
    THANK YOU ETHO!

    Rather than using multiple pearls in one machine, it seem more practical (if your machine can handle the lag) to have multiple enderporters at a destination. Ideally,the way this would work is that you would build multiple enderporters and have them all running off of one clock; rather than briefly stopping the clock, you would somehow set it up so that each time it was triggered, it would intercept the clock's signal to a specific enderporter, doing this for a different one each time (i.e. the signal would trigger A the first time, B the second, C the third, etc). That way, you can have as many "charges" as the number of enderporters you can support. Then you aren't responsible for refilling the machine every single time, enabling you to reset them in bulk (as well as the device controlling which enderporter is activated). The alternative would be to set up individual clocks for each machine, but there are obvious flaws with that.

    Two suggestions for the Ender Porter:
    *1)* When disabled, move the Slime Blocks under the suspended Ender Pearl, letting it drop to some platform. It's more ascetically pleasing, and you won't warp into water every time.
    *2)* After doing the first, perhaps add Trip Wire underneath the contraption so that you may throw an Ender Pearl up into the Ender Porter, and have it automatically activate.
    These should speed up the usage of the Ender Porters themselves, making them more practical in the long run.

  • @drewbryk
    @drewbryk 9 лет назад

    1.loved 404, especially the jokes about having writers and a break room
    2. wow, at first i was like "oh cool 500 block teleporter." But then you were like no, its a *network*. That is awesome. Love the idea that you've got 200 block Redstone trunklines running through your world, maybe big transmission towers or undersea cables. This is so cool

  • @ultimateredstone
    @ultimateredstone 9 лет назад +7

    Hey Etho, you need to move the slimeblock so quickly that it's impossible for the pearl to get caught in the slimeblock (the speed of a piston+slimeblock+redstone block clock). Or use a dual slimeblock design like Sancarn did. Or use test137E29's design which stores the pearl in moving blocks :P with the setup you have now, the pearl will always eventually glitch into the slimeblock, you can't relog or reload consistently, and maybe it will even teleport you randomly after time when both the pearl and the slimeblock are in a "perfect" position to make the pearl actually hit the slimeblock as a block and not when it's moving. And unless you're gonna use test137E29's design, you also need a clock which is completely logout/unload proof at that speed. I do have a few designs but not uploaded, you basically can't use sticky pistons or it will glitch at some point, and you need to update the pistons all the time so the clock never fails on reload... sry, it's hard to explain xD
    EDIT: Pi's rotor is freaking cool but it's not meant for "Ender Stasis" due to reload issues :P

    It's gonna be funny :D
    ps: don't get me wrong I llike it when people come up with new designs, but in the video from pi314159265358978 he even mentions that there are alot of better designs for that purpose out there. The couple of first ones were created around 6 months ago by the way so the concept is not really new. And I kinda don't believe him when he says "I always wanted to make a teleporter in minecraft", because if he really was intersted, there would have been an episode by him about a teleporter 6 months ago. but oh well, a person can't know everything :D

    11:50 Hey Etho! I think you could make one teleporter at your man-cave and one at the amplified base. Make a one hour timer for the one at your man cave and run up to the amplified base. Keep track of the time and once almost a hour has passed you throw a new pearl in a teleporter with a timer set to 20 minutes or so. That way you could keep teleporting infinitly and you could just quickly grab some more items when building at the amplified area!

    Water slows you down more with a block next to it...

  • @Brian-ul5hw
    @Brian-ul5hw 9 лет назад

    Etho, I believe the sound of the pistons could be the reason for the lag near the ender-porter. Also, the reason the backing us necessary is because when there is a block next to water, it slows down entities in the water, leading to the increased stability. I hope this makes sense, I love your videos, please never stop.

    I have been researching for quite a while on this remote chunkloading topic, and I believe that currently, (haven`t tested it in 1.8.4, but at least in 1.8.1 works), chunks are loaded if a hopper with an item is pointing into them. Of course, for this to work the chunk where the hopper is has to be loaded. So you can make a chain of loaded chunks from your spawnchunks to the place you want (it is not limited by your render distance). Also, to avoid having to run a very long redstone line, you can use a very cool mechanic with an anvil (whenever you place an anvil in your world, every anvil's hit box is updated (has to be in a loaded chunk), while it is being updated a minecart can pass through it you can use this minecart to produce a redstone signal and activate the enderporter. I have some videos about this but the are in spanish. I hope my writting wasn't too bad xd.

    Etho, I think the reason the backing is important is because when a water column is touching a solid block it has extra friction...try swimming up a stream that isn't touching any blocks and then swimming up a stream with a similar backing. So your backing is slowing the ender pearl down just a little more when it has the blocks placed right next to it.

    Etho: Put an enderporter (or more!) at the spawn chunk. You already have the pearl collection system to gather pearls from the End there. Have a new hopper item detector trigger the enderporter if some specific item (like a workbench) comes through. Then you can teleport from the End back to spawn just by dropping a workbench into the item stream!

    Etho, just a reminder of the best way to classify your items in the nexus. Sorry I dont know who originally thought this out but here goes: Each lever is given a number in order from 1-8. Each item is labelled with with levers need to be turned on. If levers 1, 5 and 6 need to be turned on, just name that item 156. If there are more levers that need to be turned on then off, you simply put some sort of symbol before. If all levers need to be on EXCEPT 2, 5 and 7 than you could just name the item !257 (note the exclamation mark). This way you could pick a variety of items by how they look, put them in your hotbar and just scroll over them to easily see all the info you need. I love watching you videos Etho, you are a great entertainer. Keep being awesome!

  • @DavidH-fb9ob

    Etho, When you want to teleport using the enderporter, instead of making the clock stop, you can have a piston with a slimeblock hit the pearl from the side, launching it far away so you wont spawn in the water. It also allows you to build it a distance away from where you want to teleport to, so there isn't the lag in that area.

    Imagine the potential this has for mining. Leave one of these in your spawn chunks with an insane hopper timer, then go on a mining trip, get terribly lost, and not have to worry about finding your way home!

    Flowing water only applies force to players and entities when a solid block is adjacent to the flowing water. That's why the pearls start crashing when you removed the tower.
