- Fluid art inspirational video! I painted the canvas, black, using a translucent basecoat. It was really interesting to see how it dried and the black came through on the final piece. I'm working a lot lately figuring out some new color palette diving into some large person paintings, it's going to be so fun! I also have the Lake retreat coming up and there's still some seats available at Fluid Art Experience!

Your art is very organic. It’s like walking through a forest and coming upon a fallen log covered in mosses, lichens and fungi; all natural but beautiful.

This is so delicate Sara, I love the pearls, they’re like veining in marble, so beautiful. It must be difficult visualising the dried piece using the transparent layer, almost like painting in negative with a dark canvas. It’s so clever Sara, I love these paintings. 🙏🏻✨

Sara, it's beautiful! Such a gorgeous example of the translucent Pearl basecoat. I haven't tried it yet but I'm just getting ready to mix up the paints to do it. I hope it turns out as nice as yours 💜
Hi, what’s translucent pearl base coat? Is it something you buy ready to use or you make it yourself? And if you make it, what are you using? Thank you.
@@dominusstyx the transparent pearl base is a base that will cause pearls on your top coated paints but when that transparent base dries, it dries clear so that you see the color of the canvas underneath it. In this case Sarah’s canvas was black. None of the paint she put on were black but when the transparent base dried you could see the black canvas that was there originally. To my knowledge you can’t buy the basecoat, but Sara explains how to make it in one of her other videos. I believe she highlighted it in her story underneath this video.

As time goes on, I think I am starting to see what you see after a while and I'm so excited by it! I didn't really know where you'd start embellishments (especially with the purple, great choice!), but after a few of them I would think about a line that needed extending. You eventually went to those spots! Of course, you saw areas I didn't. I love that you throw in a video every once in a while with no voiceovers. I really strive to connect with your thoughts and "zone" in them! Gorgeous piece, sara! I feel like this is something beautiful we'd find in the depths of our oceans!

Oh wow Sara! That's pretty dramatic and electric. The technique is most interesting when it dries. I look forward to your new paintings exploring this technique. You've chosen such a pretty grouping of colors which are very striking against the black background. Really like pineapple crush, flourscent purple!

That is the craziest thing I’ve ever seen! It’s like a totally different painting after it dried. Was the translucent base simply floetrol? In all honesty, I wasn’t sure if I cared for the piece but the dried result is fantastic. The lacing really stands out, the contrast is beautiful as well as the movement and overall - I just love this. I can’t wait for more, Sara.❤️
Glad you liked the end result! Sometimes that it’s hard to picture it with the translucent basecoat, what it will look like in the end. The next day it’s always a surprise!
