  • Fluid art inspirational video! I’ve been playing around with this concept a lot and I really like where this one took me. I layered the dark colors first and went in with the lighter colors on top. These are all Pearl basecoat colors, then I’m using a simple black puddle paint… Not to be confused with a bloom cell activator. Basically trying to mimic the bloom technique but with thin pearl paints.

    Hi Sarah I really love your work and this piece of artwork is gorgeous. As a newbie to this style... could you please, when you have time, pop on here the most current links to your Pearl base coat and puddle pour recipes 🙏 I've been watching your videos and I may sound a bit daft but I am getting muddled. I love the effects in this piece 😊 thank you so much 💗

      Great suggestion!
      It’s an effect achieved by using a very thin basecoat with satin enamel in it. I have a really great paint Mixing video that might help answer some questions.

      @@SaraTaylor it took me 50 years to finally get my studio and the time to do this! Could I please ask a question? How do you avoid the canvas sag when you start pouring? I pre-spray and let the canvas dry. I've stuffed the back with cardboard (hate doing that). Is it the quality of the canvas/ frame?

    This one is very different from your normal process of pearl painting. It's very dramatic and bold! You could not pass this painting without stopping to admire and stare at it for a while. I'm curious to know how you feel about this style you have created. I think it's a great addition to your carefully curated portfolio... if you will. I know that there will be plenty of people who will see this and will commission you to create one for them. I love the flow of colors and where you pulled out the black puddle paint. I often think of your comment on painting and seeing where it might be "stuck." It helps me to move the paint where it's just not quite "there" yet😁. It's bold and beautiful, Sara!😊✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️

      Thank you, Tera, it’s not often somebody asked me how I feel about it… 😁
      When you ask that question it really got me thinking. Honestly when this painting was complete, I felt a sense of completion and satisfaction with this part of the journey. Ultimately, this is what I was going for with this concept! It’s funny when that happens, the question is, will I visit it again or just move on.😂💕

    I really appreciate how you have the sense in how much to 'fuss' with a painting and when to leave it alone. I haven't learned that yet and usually keep fussing with it until I ruin it and scrape off the paint. Expressing art is not just sensing what colors, direction, and style to use. It is equally important to know when it is done. I'm not sure I will ever get that part.

    Very interesting, let me see if I got this right. It’s like a reverse bloom or swipe. Instead of using the basic mixture your using base coat with satin enamels and then swiping for the reactions with a puddle paint. Basically the same chemical reactions.
    Thoughts colors are very vibrant. In the jar they’re much different than when you laid them down together. This is one thing that kept me from doing these techniques. I have such a hard time picking a group of colors that go together. But it’s always the same, you never know until ya try putting them on canvas. Even if it doesn’t look like they compliment, it’s like creating a new color once they re down on canvas.

    Wowzers! Amazing how many cells you’re initially getting just dragging that deep
    bl/ gr. base color along the first “S” form! Think that’s basically the satin enamels doing that? Txz jeanne

    • @SaraTaylor
      @SaraTaylor  3 месяца назад

      Good observation! It is the satin enamel base that’s causing that reaction with the black puddle paint.
