Ya'll are doing a bang up job on the goat paddock! Welded posts are such a great permanent fence. One that'll not need any mantaining and will always keep a goat in!
As Jonathan was petting the dogs my two Golden Doodles were on either side of my chair as I am petting them while I am watching ya'll build a fence. Ya'll are doing a fantastic job on the fences. Waiting for the next video.
You guys keep learning how to do new things. Your courage and sense of adventure is amazing. "Somehow you've talked me into" should be "You pointed out that we need to wean the kids and that will be really difficult to do while making the one little paddock even smaller during roofing."
Good episode Guys! You've probably finished the container roof by now but if not try pre-building roof panels on the ground and lifting into place. That way the kids can be involved in their construction. A tractor, 10 each 5' x 8' roof panels, a base frame anchored to container, a few 2' uprights ... and Bob's your uncle. Hi, love your fencing work. May I add.... if you don't cover the tops of your open ended posts, rain will collect at the base(concreted in), and eventually the post will rot. A metal cap, is produced by the manufacturer ( I think). Just saying...

I would suggest buying a decent drill press with an excellent set of hole cutters for making your saddle cuts before you place your poles in the ground. Plus other drilling operations on your homestead.❤🎉

Christa and I put up a QuicTent green house. The instructions said it could easily be assembled by 2 people in 2 hours. They were right. 2 hours on Monday, 2 hours on Tuesday, 2 hours on Wednesday, 2 hours Thursday and 2 hours on Friday. Yup, just 2 hours.
Mmmmm I believe that if a certain someone says that a project will take x amount of time the rest of the family should double it and then add half as much again....

That paddic may be very handy for corralling the dogs. Also you need some shade in there that could be permanent shelter, your free range chickens might like it too. you could isolate your breeding male goat as well. A couple more paddics would also be useful but build your house first.
We live in a dry part of Texas. We always worry about starting fires outside, especially in our wind which is like yours. We bought a band saw like yours, no sparks. Wife loves it. Great fence job. 🎉

The actual Day 2 doesn't count toward predicted time for job. :) If it takes longer than actual, its still only two no matter what because Mom's are always right! And she got burned, which means subtract a day for every burn!
❤ Put some shade out there and a little cement pond for belly soaking and it can do double duty as a dood den for those days you need the whole crew on house building duty.
Hi stick welders don’t need the rust removed wind doesn’t affect them , a bit harder to get use to , much quicker, straining mesh if you place the clamp a few ft before the post instead of after you can cut away the roll of wire strip back all the strands and tie them off with only the Ratchet strap in your way easier, quicker! I’m not knocking your work but I’m 70 , used every welder made and installed miles of fencing . Love the show , you pair are keener than me . Cheers

I haven't money to help you, but my thoughts on some things might help you (or may not), but l can try. You are doing a tremendous job. No need to apologise for anything. I enjoy hearing the chickens talk. I had animals when l was a child, and used to have conversations with my "tooka tookas" as l called them. Since childhood, l have been interested in conservation, wise agricultural practices and so on. l have watched a number of your videos, and have some thoughts. (I am not very tech savvy, so maybe this message is getting too long. Maybe another time l can outline some of my thoughts.
It might seem like a long time but that is one fence that's going to last a long time you ain't stretching normal fence so take all the time U need nice job😊

If all you lost is a week on the new fencing before starting on the Container Roof, it's time well spent. Otherwise you would have had to deal with more chaos from the goats interference and the tight work space. Your wife is right, because now you have the 2nd paddock the goats will use anyway. You own the land so any work you do now is an investment that will pay you later. Ashley increased the value of the work you just did on the 2nd paddock, and the work you still have to do building the container roof. 👍

hey, how bout makin a v-shaped plywood body shield with a solid wood bracing frame...move it along with the welder .sort of like how geese fly in a v to decrease wind velosity down along the v for others . 😮
If you always install your corners first, then run your strings top and bottom from the corner posts, after squaring the corners, your fence lines will always be straight. Just something I've learned over the years...😊
So the tricky part with this particular fencing is that the corner posts are twice as thick as the supporting posts. So yes you have to mark and get your corner posts square so you don't end up with a trapezoid instead of a rectangle :) But then the string has to be slightly offset to get those smaller center posts inline with the bigger posts.
Thanks for putting up a fence. I need to put up a temporary fence for my garden, to keep out all those furry rabbits, which ate over half my crop of bush beans. I need to pick up some white step in posts ( so after the growing season, I can remove them.)
Sleeves are a definite necessity for safety. I am assuming the marching was an attempt to avoid the ants crawling up your legs? Funny you convinced your daughter to march with you.

Looks great! I'd cap those large posts to keep water from getting in and rusting them out. Easier to protect than replace.
They also have a handheld cordless vibrating tool, just for concrete and things like that it helps settle it in the holes makes it really nice
