Hate hearing these “artist” say a tattoo art or style is dated because it means why even get a tattoo they are permanent. So your telling people essentially not to buy your product and get a tattoo because it will be dated
they are cookie cutter trend followers. Following the crowd like sheep
And that is basically the biggest gripe I have with tattoos. Sooner or later they will either be out of fashion, or in my case, make me regret it because Im so tired of looking at it.
Or (and this is a good bit of advice I was given) - don’t get a tattoo just because it’s currently trendy. Trends change. A fad tattoo will look outdated in a few years.
So get something creative an meaningful. Or, stick with well known and loved traditions (there’s a few different traditions in tattooing that always look good, like traditional, neo traditional etc).
Just stay away from fads.
I mean with any art form you will usually be able to tell when it was done, however unlike the guys in the video I don't see that as a bad thing. Just because something is a style from say 80s does not mean it's a bad tattoo.

I see a lot of comments saying "tattoo artists have huge egos for critiquing other people's tattoos as bad while having bad tattoos themselves" I get where you guys are coming from but I also understand that most of these artists probably regret the tattoos they have and they don't want others to feel the same, most especially the newer generations because back then people weren't so open minded about the tattoo culture so not many great ideas or designs were inspired to be made yet and not a lot of aspiring and very talented tattoo artists were striving to reach today's level of greatness in tattooing. That's what my mentor told me. My mentor has really ugly sleeves but his works are really good and he told me that back then there weren't a lot of good tattoo artists with amazing ideas and designs and also the people who got their tattoos then also did not have amazing ideas and designs unlike today everyone's equipped with so many years of artworks that has evolved into breath taking limits you can easily find on the Internet. gone are the days when people come into the shop and looked at your folder for designs. Now, everyone's got access to limitless designs on the Internet
