For the Joker's tattoos they had some trouble covering up Jared Leto's actual tattoos. Aqauman's tattoos were based around Jason Momoa's pre existing forearm tattoos which is an ode his polynesian heritage

talking about the younger generation being more comfortable with seeing tattoo's, i work a sams club and i had a member come up to me with his daughter and ask me a question and this 5 year old little girl looks at my arm and interupts her dad saying," is that a tattoo?" and just looks so intrigued. her dad says, " yeah, she likes tattoos." for whatever reason it made my day.
I would have actually preferred to see them analyse Sirius Black's tattoos from the Harry Potter series.
Plus Voldemort created the dark mark in his mid teens so it kind of fits that it does look like a novice's work.

Their houghts on these tattoos are really inconsistent and seem to be based mostly on their emotional relationship with the movie or actor and their personal design preferences. The Jason Mamoa tattoo looks good because it's on Jason Mamoa and he's gorgeous, but you can see the color difference between his actual forearm tattoos and the one's that were added for the movie. The movie tattoos for him reflect purple and his real ones are a matte black. The design is beautiful on him though.
It doesn’t sound like tattoo artist generally agree on anything or have ideas what is good or not.

As a tattooed preschool teacher, I absolutely LOVE that Disney included a tattooed character (traditional polynesian tattooing, even better!) I've had students excitedly come up to me, point at my arm, and yell "Maui!" it's great.
Yeess! I work in a kindergarten and my frst tattoos were also ancestry stuff and my newest is a Hawaiian turtle and the kids love them all!

Yeah, almost like they are jealous that they couldn't make as good of a job lol. And also those that say they look fake have very faded, this is because they don't use quality ink substituents that don't fade in 10+years even. Just poor artists in the sense that probably haven't changed through times and use old style easily fading ink.

For me it's the fact that Puppet Guy won't shut up about "perpetuating stereotypes". His point is valid, but that's not the topic they were asked about and some of the supposedly "bad" tattoos(like Clint's) aren't so much bad as they are old and lived in, so to speak, or at least are meant to look that way

The Harry Potter one (the Dark Mark) is a mix of branding and tattoo, it's gonna look a little rough and raised because of it.
I have to agree with the one who said the Joker would likely take more time with his tattoos. If he's sporting nice suits and looking sharp with his fashion his tattoos should follow suit.
