  • How to test a gasoil pressure regulator / flow regulator (IMV). Demonstration on a Renault Clio 2 1.5 dci with a Delphi high pressure pump. The regulator is removed to show the movement of the solenoid valve when it is supplied with 12 volts. It is possible to carry out the test without disassembling the regulator, supplying it with 12 V and listening to the solenoid valve (tic) when it is powered. However, disassembly makes it possible to evaluate the fouling state of the diesel circuit.

    Hi, great video, please what do you do when the pump is blocked? i removed the solenoid valve and i tried priming the bulb, but there was no much fuel coming out from the solenoid housing.

    Hello, nice video. I got df127 supply voltage sensor and fuel pressure is 2000bar in rail. car cranks but wouldn't start even with easy start. any thoughts?

    Closing contact? 3:41. Does not make sense.There are no normally open or normally close contacts in the valve, a plunger moves when its coil is energised and returns to its position when de-energised, the movement of this plunger opens and closes the fuel ports.

    А если у меня сопротивление 8,7 ом???то регулятор под замену????ошибка df771 по высокому давлению запоминающая?при 3000 оборотов появляется и давление сбрасывается но о бар,подскажите если кто знает

    this test does not show the mechanical state of the regulator.current measurment with scope and amp clamp is way more efficient. and it requires a lot less time.

    What does it mean if the regulator is always open? Does it mean the fuel pressure will be low, if the connector to it is unugged?

      It will stay open when there is no power supply. i.e when the car is turned off

    no metal yellow fillings on regulator valve but no fuel come out when squuze priming fuel pump any ideas anyone? if blocked how & what solution please?

      @@florentinBlueyes no i just give up in the end bought a cheap 07 peugeot 407 €380 no problem have 2 mnt's just need get the dpf out & give it a good power wash

    The resistance should be 5,3 Ohm +- 0,5 Ohm at 20 degree Celcius according to the the original Renault k9k diesel engine workshop manual. Remember about the temperature guys.

    Probar el regulador asi es estropearlo, un regulador trabaja en ancho de pulso(PWM) si abre y cierra no quiere decir que esta bueno.

      вроде нет. А вот когда он снял регулятор, железная прокладка звякнула и упала вниз. Он даже не заметил.

    taken the regulator out on mine and when priming with hand pump the fuel struggles to come throuh....would you put it to a blocked pump?

      Could be problem with supply to primer (filter?). Try connecting temporary fuel supply to primer.

      So does mine when the imv is out and I prime it by hand it struggles to come out but when I crank it it comes shooting out,, did U fix this problem I'm getting inlet metering valve problem....I'm about to replace my imv coz iam getting this code

    Not a good test, plenty of faulty regulators will work when in open air under no pressure. Put it under 1000 Bar and then see if it works.

      Las válvulas en general, si funcionan afuera, funcionan adentro, ellas o trabajan bien o no trabajan, punto, o es blanco o es negro, pero aca los grises son poco, muy pero muy poco comunes, ahora bien, si tiene otra forma de hacerlo mejor, cual es? , no nos dejes con la duda !

    Prueba de regulación de presión de combustible
    1) Desconecte el conector del regulador de presión
    2) Desconecte el conector del sensor de temperatura del diesel
    3) Desconectar el conector eléctrico del inyector nro 3 y el conector de la bujía de incandescencia
    4) Retire los tornillos de los soportes de los tubos de combustible.
    5) Retire el tubo de alta presión en el inyector nro 4
    6) Retire la varilla
    7) Use una punta torx para quitar los tornillos del regulador de presión
    8) Retire los tornillos del regulador de presión.
    9) El acceso al segundo tornillo se facilita quitando el tubo de alta presión del inyector nro 3
    10) Retire el regulador de presión
    11) Si la bomba no está bloqueada, el combustible debe fluir a través de la caja del regulador cuando opere la perilla de cebado.
    12) Verifique que no haya limaduras de metal en el filtro del regulador de presión. Si encuentra limaduras (partículas de metal de color amarillo brillante), la bomba de alta presión debe ser reemplazada
    13) Conecte dos clips de gancho a los terminales del regulador de presión
    14) En las bombas de alta presión Delphi 1.5 dci, la resistencia del regulador de presión debe ser de unos 5 ohmios
    15) Si la resistencia es igual a 0 ohmios, los 2 clips de gancho probablemente estén en cortocircuito: reposicionarlos para que tengan una resistencia > 0 ohmios
    16) Para probar el funcionamiento de la válvula selenoide, conecte los 2 cables del multímetro a los terminales + y - de la batería.
    17) El regulador de presión es un contacto de cierre (normalmente abierto)
    18) Cuando el regulador de presión está alimentado, la válvula de cierre debe moverse
    19) Este regulador de presión funciona perfectamente

    It is a shame if this is the method you are testing the pressure regulator.
    A pressure regulator usually fails at a certain point, and does not stop working completely
    So your test is not at all correct
    The pressure regulator should be connected to a device that simulates pressure and flows through it.
    Then gradually increase the pressure from 200 bar to 1800. And see that there is no pressure drop at a certain moment.
    In 90 percent of the cases, a problem is caused by the vehicle being turned off while traveling, and a computer malfunction occurs in low pressure fuel.

      When my wife tried to start off on second gear, she release clutch too fast and steped on gas pedal, but engie died anyway. Since that, engine fault code (fuel pressure regulator fail- maximum limit reach) , and fatal failure is light on when I go full throttle, but when I release throttle , everything went OK. Car is not smoking (even when I have model without exhoust filter) acceleration , power, starting, and sound is normal. Could be regulator demaged due to my wifes failed atempt to start off ?

      @@jancadek3913 connect a error code reader and clean out fail codes, if they reappear it might be faulty, otherwise only a glitch in electronic programming

      @@gandalfwhite60 I already sold that car. but before I have done that I found source of this problems. When I pulled out pressure regulator and squised rubber diesel pump, fuel does not bursted out, just lazy dropped. So something in rotary high pressure pump whas cloged. Even cloged it can build enaugh pressure to not trigger fault code, but it not build eaugh fuel flow to feed injectors, so with "full throtle" pressure droped , power stoped to raise, and loot of fault codes apears including pressure regulator malfunction.

    К dc нельзя подключать ,он уже нормально не будет работать на высоких оборотах при мах нагрузке недаст нужного давления в рампе ,так что дизлайк братан... не учи людей если не знаешь... и измерение сопротивление тоже не дает гарантии того что витки не замкнуты только тестер или LCR metr

      Добрый день, подскажите пожалуйста,на этом видео 2:40 когда качают грушей с топливной идёт струя со свистом,а у меня этого нет. Когда качаю бежит самотёком и с воздухом, булькает, двигатель троит,наверное причина не в регуляторе топлива а все таки в этой струе???
