The original version of bridge over troubled water by Simon and Garfunkel was always my favourite version till I heard Soyang , which is now my very favourite version .
So Hyang is a 45 year old devout Christian and gospel singer from South Korea. In her early 20's and newly married, she was diagnosed with early stage uterine cancer, which left her unable to have children. After receiving a healing from God, So Hyang's goal has been to use her voice to bring comfort to people who are experiencing difficult times. She is NOT motivated by either money or fame, and she has rejected numerous offers from major record labels. In addition to being a published author of several fiction books, she lectures about singing and vocal techniques at a South Korean university. She SLAYS every genre of music, from ROCK to RAP (YES, So Hyang can spit bars). You have just made one of the BEST investments in time.
she is incredible, watch her performance of "Everyone" and you will return to the Church, at the end, it will only confirm that she is one of the greatest voices in the WORLD
I must remind folks here to stop recommending "여러분 (Everyone)" as the next performance to review. It's like getting a person who only tried jalapeno peppers to go for Carolina Reapers as the next level up. That's just bonkers. Since it's a 7-min performance filled with intense belting, I recommend listening to "여러분 (Everyone)" only after reviewing a dozen other Sohyang performances.
So Hyang started as CCM gospel singer. She traveled to over 60 countries singing in churches and charitable events. She has turned down many recording deals because it interfered with her faith. She has been singing for 25 years and sings to comfort people. She testifies thru her music. Anything you listen to you will love. There is a long list of fabulous songs. Enjoy the ride, hold on.

Sebs, hello. New Subscriber. An excellent, respectful video. You just stepped into the enchanting World of Sohyang. Every time you see her, she will have the same effect on you. She is 45 now, even more beautiful than she was here, and, if you can believe it, her voice is even more refined. You see, among Sohyang's skills are; Actress (The Sound of Music), Musical Arranger and Staging/lighting Engineer (all TV & Stage performances), Vocal Instructor (teaches Music and Voice at the University). Not to mention; Composer (Dream), Author (Four Novels and a Treatise on the New Testament), Online Bible Teacher (Lectures on the Old Testament), and Motivational Speaker. Her background is in Gospel music and she learned American English from watching the Disney Channel. I left out some stuff. She IS a genius. It is also worth noting that she has a smile to melt the hardest heart. . . . Cheers.
I'm not religious at all anymore, but hearing Sohyang singing feels like listening to an actual angel on earth. Hearing her sing just feels like one of the most simple but beautiful things a person can experience on earth.
We all wonder if Sohyang is human or from another planet. Current odds are that she’s from another planet, with an outside chance she’s actually an angel come down from Heaven. 😇 We have never heard anyone sing like her, or be able to hold an audience in the palm of her hand until she lets them go. Her voice is, as one person described it, like liquid gold. Perfection in clarity and pitch, and she doesn’t fade in the upper octaves, which is startling when you hear her hit those 5th and 6th octave notes with such _POWER_ it actually gives everyone goose bumps-and makes us bald guys’ hair stand on end! As she says, her voice “is from God.” She does all the musical arrangements herself, with the input of her in-law family and musical assistants, teaches vocal technique at a South Korean university and speaks five languages: Korean, English, French, Vietnamese and Chinese, as well as reading Greek! Let me catch my breath. OK. She is a cancer survivor from uterine cancer at the age of 20, just after getting married, and states very plainly that God saved her life due to the prayers of her church. But this left her without the ability to have children so she decided to dedicate her life to being a Contemporary Christian Gospel singer and has refused recording contracts from the biggest corporations in the world. She only wants to sing for charities, churches and while doing missionary work, to strengthen those suffering through difficult times. David Foster, Josh Groban, Michael Bolton and others have all eagerly worked with her when they were in Asia. She contracted hepatitis B from a blood transfusion during her cancer surgery and it clings to her to this day. Because of this she is prone to catching pneumonia but has sang perfectly while suffering from it in her live performance of “You Raise Me Up” before Shane Filan of Westlife on South Korean TV: ruclips.net/video/te_L9ofhUt8/видео.html She has asked those who love her singing to pray that God keep pneumonia away from her, she has suffered from it on so many occasions. Imagine how she must feel with this coronavirus floating around everywhere! She just turned 45 on April 5, 2023, though in Korean culture she would be 46 because you are deemed to be one year old when you are born. She was about 37 when she sang this version of “Arirang Alone,” their unofficial national anthem based on a 600 year old folk song expressing their desire to reunify north and south: vimeo.com/308253527 While being sick with pneumonia eight times from 2016 through to 2020, and considering giving up singing altogether, she decided to enter a televised singing contest called “King of the Masked Singers” in 2017 and won six consecutive times, which has catapulted her into international attention from the performances being posted on RUclips. Whitney Houston’s former manager saw her on RUclips and showed her to Oprah Winfrey, who brought her to David Foster’s attention. Foster then contacted Sohyang and went to Japan in order to have her perform eight concerts with him at Tokyo’s famous Blue Note Club in late-2018. For those who don't know, David Foster was Whitney Houston's producer for some of her songs, wrote "I Have Nothing," her most iconic song, and is the most famous and influential music producer in the world. He places Sohyang right beside Whitney and the rest of the top tier divas. Here is the interview where Sohyang related the events: ruclips.net/video/EqeE_1nP-Kk/видео.html (Be sure to turn on English subtitles.) Here is the version of “I Have Nothing” Oprah, David Foster, Whitney's former manager and the rest watched on RUclips: ruclips.net/video/T4UyIMkdy4M/видео.html She preceded it with this blockbuster: vimeo.com/312061203 She could be an international Super Star if she wanted to be but has decided that it would ruin her spiritually, quoting Proverbs 16:25 “There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.” In a South Korean television interview Sohyang conceded that she struggled with her desire for fame for a number of years, going into the basement in her home numerous times and closing the door so she could complain vehemently to God that He was holding her back from becoming famous due to her health problems and other unforeseeable events. Then she later saw a Korean TV drama where the talented daughter of a very successful businessman was positive she would take over when her father retired. But he left the management of the company to a woman she hated, so she had a fit and lay kicking and screaming on the floor. Sohyang says she saw herself in that young woman and then understood that God was keeping her from developing self-destructive character by withholding international celebrity status from her. ruclips.net/video/rl-jX9kBsEs/видео.html (Again, turn on English subtitles.) So as a consequence she does not pursue fame or fortune and actually has no interactive social media presence whatsoever. What can one say about such a person? She is a literal Wonder Woman! And we need about a billion more just like her! And whether Sohyang likes it or not, fame has found her, run her over and then backed up and run over her again! On Oct. 5, 2020, it was revealed that Sohyang turned down _yet another_ contract offer, this time from Sony Music US. www.koreaherald.com/view.php?ud=20200921000995 “Debuting in [the] US was my utmost goal for the past 20 years. But when I got a call from the US agency, I politely rejected, as I realized that what I wanted most was not becoming famous,” she said. “I think singers are very susceptible to arrogance, especially when they hear the screaming from crowds on stage. It can make you feel like as if you’ve become God.” “And I’m perfectly okay with sharing my music via RUclips, which can reach tens of millions of people all over the world without making me feel stuck up. Maybe that’s why I was born in this era.” Sohyang is just the most amazing singer, Christian and human being. She is beautiful both inside and out, and so humble and genuine, with a stage charisma, facial expressions and smile that is off the charts. In Korean dictionaries 소향--Sohyang--has several meanings. • First is a type of Korean traditional music. • Second is to burn incense on a burner. • Third is to go toward. But these meanings are rarely used today. Sohyang is also the name of a heroine in a Korean traditional novel. Yet for the definitive answer Sohyang has stated in an interview that her name means "enjoy the light." Her grandmother named her. Please analyze her performance of “Bridge Over Troubled Water”: ruclips.net/video/C6iHh4yBxCo/видео.html Also, please react to her version of “The Power of Love”: ruclips.net/video/LrNkVRrK7_I/видео.html Plus this beautiful duet with her friend Lee Hi where they do Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons’ “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You”: vimeo.com/439148918 And this version of her singing “Oh Holy Night”: vimeo.com/322716334 Here she performs “Lean On Me” before Michael Bolton, who called her a vocal “virtuoso” after her performance: ruclips.net/video/GvsgCllcNPE/видео.html Wait until you see her duet of David Foster's “The Prayer” with Jeong Ui Geu: ruclips.net/video/rte-q3kunp8/видео.html Her performance of "Fate" in Korean requires no translation: vimeo.com/198161448 And finally “Will You Be There”: ruclips.net/video/nBdSpexUxik/видео.html Here’s an English language interview with her that I’m sure you will enjoy: ruclips.net/video/N2u_pmoWxj8/видео.html Her English is perfect when she sings and almost perfect when she is doing interviews. OK, I’ll stop gushing now. Well, one more gush. In an interview with a Turkish music producer Sohyang's assistants revealed (a bit to her chagrin, as she is a self-effacing person) that she can hit Eb7 and D7 in practise. However, she never goes above the 6th octave in performances. Since she starts at D3 that is more than a 4 octave range ... so how about them apples???! Here it is: ruclips.net/video/VnPAkryrygQ/видео.html I know, bananas isn’t it? Oh, I just remembered, she is also a published fantasy novelist and has a theological treatise on the Book of Revelation in print. In addition, she is a very good stage actress, which she proved by playing Julie Andrews’ part in the South Korean stage production of “The Sound of Music.” Moreover, she sang the “Moana” part in the Korean version of the Disney film, does the musical vocals for many South Korean television dramas, and is a talented artist and cartoonist. She taught herself English by watching Disney's "The Little Mermaid" 'about one hundred times' when she was just a kid, speaks English with a _perfect_ North American accent and has an outgoing and bubbly personality. She can also play the piano and guitar. Is there anything this genius level woman can’t do? Ironically, Sohyang stated in another interview that both she and her in-law family were surprised to discover that she could sing so excellently! Though she is maybe 5' 4" and only about 100 pounds, Sohyang simply transcends the thresholds of music and takes you there with her. She becomes the song when she sings it, and then re-emerges when she is done. An experience like no other. I don’t know what else to say. I’ve spent _entire days_ listening to her, and shed more than a few tears of joy along the way. I really must also compliment the choir, orchestra and audio/video production people Sohyang works with. They are all top notch from what I can see and hear, and that is important to note as these are _essential_ elements of any great musical production. The Korean people are easily as talented as anyone else. As you can see, I am a shameless fan. 😉
Sohyang's singing prowess extends beyond mere technical proficiency; she is a master at infusing her performances with genuine and heartfelt emotions. While her exceptional vocal techniques undoubtedly contribute to her artistry, it is her ability to connect with the music and convey deep emotions that truly sets her apart. When Sohyang sings, her voice becomes a vehicle for expressing a wide range of emotions, from joy and love to sorrow and longing. Her ability to connect with the lyrics and the essence of a song allows her to deliver performances that touch the hearts of her listeners. Through her vocal nuances, phrasing, and subtle vocal inflections, she brings authenticity and vulnerability to her interpretations. Sohyang's performances are marked by her capacity to evoke powerful emotions in her audience. Her voice carries the weight of her experiences and captures the essence of the songs she sings. Whether she is delivering a poignant ballad or an uplifting anthem, she has the ability to move her listeners to tears or fill them with a sense of hope and inspiration. It is this fusion of technical excellence and emotional depth that makes Sohyang an extraordinary artist. She has the rare ability to balance intricate vocal techniques with genuine emotional expression, creating performances that resonate deeply with audiences. Her artistry transcends technical proficiency, making her a truly remarkable singer who can touch hearts and stir emotions with the power of her voice.
Welcome to Sohyang, one of the worlds greatest female vocalists. If someone doesn't get the chills or misty eyed at least once to this, they must have a heart of stone. I've seen a couple of reactors with literal tears rolling down their face to this performance. Sohyang just takes your heart and squeezes it. Sohyang is a gospel singer, so yes you pinned that right. She does have a very high voice, one vocal couch said she has the highest belt of any female singer he has heard. For some people who like a warmer tone that can take some getting use to. I suggest next "Arirang Alone" that she sang in 2015 on Immortal Songs 2.
You just met one of the greatest singer of our generation. You don't have to be a music expert to see that she has a God's anointed voice. She can make a rough and tuff grown man tear up. I have seen it countless times on RUclips. Great reaction.
Loved your first time reaction to Sohyang! She is a gospel singer at heart - recommend her performances of "Oh holy night," "Lean on me," "Everyone," and "You raise me up" among others!
oh you have to listen her cover "you raise me up" next! and, 4:15, Wait. If you meet Forestell, another amazing Korean cross over group, You will be surprised again. Their "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Time in a bottle" are my favorite, and the best-ever covers!!
Great reaction to Queen Sohyang! I love seeing reactor's first time hearing her sing, and I'm looking forward to much more! Everyone, I Have Nothing, Arirang Alone, and so much more. Thanks Sebs and don't ever apologize for having a heart, she always gets me in the feels.
From what I have read and heard SoHyang is a Christian and a deeply religious person. I am not, but when she performs her voice calms me and gives me strength. She is my favorite female singer. Enjoy the discovery. Peace
Twenty years ago, Sohyang, then recognized solely as a CCM artist, performed at a concert I had the privilege of attending. Having experienced numerous live performances by various artists, Sohyang's singing at that time was a "SHOCK" to me. Her repertoire consisted entirely of CCM pieces, yet the sheer power and emotive quality of her voice were "SHOCKING." From that moment onwards, despite listening to numerous acclaimed vocalists, I invariably found myself drawing comparisons to Sohyang's unparalleled performance, a sensation of awe that has since remained unmatched. She truly is a legend.
She is considered by many music critics to be one the best, if not the best female voice on the planet. Her 'I Have Nothing' performance from the DMC Festival (her in a blue dress), and her 'Misty' and 'I Will Always Love You' performances from the BeginAgain concerts (Covid concerts) are exceptional. Her own new acoustic song called 'Higher' is kind of R&B and wonderful. She is a vocal monster-master. There is no one with as many singing tools in their basket on the female side. If Dimash is the king, So Hyang is the queen. Loved your reaction! Thanks.
Sohyang: Arirang Alone Everyone Misty If I ain't got you My favourite covers of hers. Especially her cover of Misty is just magical and deserves to be known and heard by every single person on the planet. Sadly it's a short cover, but it's so so good.
Im 64 and everything I've heard SoHyang sing its goose bumps and unashamed tears. She can reach inside you a cradle your sole and make you surrender your senses to the moment. Each performance is an experience. Thanks for making my day.
I'm glad you liked it! She truly is an Amazing artist, with quite the catalogue of music. With every song I've seen her perform she absolutely blows me away. In my mind, her voice brings comfort and peace. Her range and technique are impeccable. Jeremy
Indeed homegirl can go wild and you will bawl your eyes out for us 😂 Sohyang's ballpark is CCM and her full beast mode is Everyone. In case you get to react to it, please pick one with English translation on the video. One of great reactions to this song and i can't wait to see more of your Sohyang's reactions soon xxx
Love seeing ppl’s very first reaction to Sohyang. Welcome to the magic rabbit hole of joy that is Sohyang. Lots of videos and performances from her that will give you this same feeling. Check out You Raise Me Up or I Have Nothing next.
Perhaps you are the right person to share my theory of the arrangement of the song. Sohyang is a CCM singer and sings to comfort and give hope through her singing. With this song, she depicts Jesus dying on the cross, thus the bridge between God and us over our troubled lives. That's why she doesn't sing the second verse of the original, but focus on the first, "lay me down" repeatedly and builds up to the last portion of the song - crying out of Jesus. She depicts the agony and pain Jesus went through on the cross by laying Himself down for us to take our pain and give comfort. She also depicts Jesus speaking to us by adding the speaking voice just before the last note. I pray that this song could touch some of the people you share the gospel with. Thank you for your reaction to Sohyang.
Welcome to the world of SoHyang~!!! She is CCM/GOSPEL SINGER of South KOREA and cancer survivor. . She is one of the greatest vocalist in the world. But She wasn't known as well as popular because She sing for GOD and Comfort people who has hardtime Not for fame or money. ..In her youth, she turned down all offers from mega agencies for her beliefs...and now she is 46years old. .She has so many legendary live performances . She always sings with sincerity whenever and wherever. So it comforts those who listen to her song...That's why I love her...And her singing skills are the best, not to mention... This performance is just tip of iceberg.. . Thanks for your reaction of Queen Sohyang ♥
Sohyang is amazing! 더 많은 소향의 영상을 리액션해주세요 ^^ 추천합니다 - I have nothing - Arirang alone (홀로 아리랑) - lean on me - You raise me up - everyone (여러분) - monarisa (모나리자) - hug me (안아줘)
Welcome to the best vocalist, performer, person that has ever walked this planet, MY opinion 😊. You like heaven, you found the right angel 😇. I had the privilege of seeing her live about 4 months ago in L.A. and she was AMAZING. Keep going with her, you feel this every time. I suggest a masterpiece called " Everyone ", or her cover of Whitney Houston's, I Have Nothing. 👍. AWESOME Reaction ❤
great reaction, thanks! do yourself and us a favor and react to Sohyang singing You Raise Me Up, If I Aint Got You, the jazz classic Misty (Begin Again performance), Easy On Me, I Have Nothing, and Mona Lisa (King of Masked Singer version). For gospel -- check out Sohyang singing Everyone
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, your FANTASTIC reaction to the PHENOMENAL So Hyang. Trust and believe, you have witnessed only a small sample of the flexibility in her voice. Her vocal range is RIDICULOUS, and her breath control is INSANE. She believes what she is singing. This event was in 2015, when So Hyang was 37 years old. She is now 45 years old (turns 46 in a few months). Not only is she aging in reverse, she continues to prove her vocal technique is ROCK SOLID. With the exception of a few sessions with Michael Jackson's vocal teacher, Seth Riggs, she is mostly self-taught as a singer. So Hyang, her husband, and some assistants, arrange every aspect of her live performances; the music, backing vocals, staging, lighting, etc.)
I think it was after this performance that she had to go right back to hospital because she had pneumonia. I do not know if you know her health related story but she survived cancer and has had an on again off again battle with pneumonia. Also her back up singers deserve a mention for sure. Yeah she gets to me every time too. She has the magic in her voice like Morissette and Daneliya Tuleshova and Angelina Jordan along with Charlotte Summers from Spain. Thanks for the great reaction.
Sohyang had pneumonia and her doctor advised her to rest. Instead, she got injections and went on to compete, singing "You Raise Me Up". In the performance, her face is noticably swollen, and she backs off on her final note. She stopped singing for a while after that, and even contemplated ending her singing career.
@@oahuhawaii2141 thanks so much for the info. You get so many different lines of story that you have to pick out the plausible and hope someone like yourself comes along and centers everything. By the way I am very happy she decided to keep singing.
Subscribe, like, and set notifications. As you analyzed, an expert, she's a CCM singer. Listening to her songs makes me emotional, too. I felt a lot more while watching the video. Thank you 👍🏻
Hi Sebs, thank you for your reaction to Sohyang. She will blow you away from now on every single songs you will listen to. Check out “Arirang alone”, “you raise me up” “Lean on me”. I also want to introduce you to Forestella which will blow you away as much as Sohyang did. Start with “Bohemian Rhapsody” “Je suis malade” “Time in a bottle” You can thank me later bro :)❤
it was cool to watch this with you reacting, because this had me wondering if I was just vulnerable myself when I listened to it the other night for the first time. She also does some Whitney Houston covers and Celine Dion covers and WOW, she takes ownership. Like you said, her high register is far beyond the best I have heard and I can't stop digging her videos up now.
She is the best female vocalist in this world. Michael Bolton had a concert in Korea 2023, and she sang "Oh Holy Night" there, which was so powerful. ruclips.net/video/XCRT1qrNdIE/видео.html Another is "Upon this Rock," which she sang at the concert. ruclips.net/video/m9gSi3yk6g0/видео.html [Sohyang List] - You raise me up (Immortal songs 2) - Bridge over troubled water (Immortal songs 2) - I have nothing (I am a singer legend) - Lean on me (Immortal songs 2) - I'll always love you (begin again Korea) - Oh holy night (I am a singer 2) - Everyone (Immortal songs 2) - Arirang alone (Immortal songs 2) - Power of love (2014 live) - Never enough (begin again Korea) - Misty (begin again Korea) - I'll be there (begin again Korea) - I won't give up (Open Concert) - Amazing Grace (Global Church Blessing 2020) - Mona lisa (King Of Masked Singer) - Fate (I am a singer 2) - Wild flower (Immortal songs 2) - Where are you (I am a singer 2) - Dear love (King Of Masked Singer) - Never Ending story (I am a singer 2) - If I ain't got you (begin again Korea) - The prayer (Jeong Ui Geun & So hyang) - My favorite things (begin again Korea) - As I live (I am a singer 2) - Breathe (King Of Masked Singer)
김소향 (Kim, So-hyang) is a South Korean singer who uses 소향 (Sohyang) as her stage name. She's up there with Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Céline Dion, according to David Foster, who worked with all of them, plus other big names in the music industry, such as Aretha Franklin, Barbra Streisand, and Michael Jackson. In fact, many vocal coaches and critics call her the Queen, and Dimash the King. Here are several links to excellent performances by Sohyang. Many are from competitions where she pulls out all the stops and goes into vocal beast mode. The last 5 are more restrained. You can alternate between the styles, just to experience the contrasts and see her range of abilities. All are live, except for a music video of "Never Enough" (since we can never get enough of Sohyang). They were all amazed. He invited her to sing on his tour in Asia. She did 8 shows in 4 days in Tokyo. Foster co-wrote that song. He arranged and produced it for Whitney for her album, and her performance in "The Bodyguard". Foster has won 16 Grammy Awards, including 3 for Producer of the Year, and has been nominated a total of 47 times.
Hi Jeremy. I am a reactor and a returned LDS missionary as well. I love So Hyang so much! She is amazing, one of the best voices in the world and she sings from a deep, caring place. I love to see her unmatched vocal prowess and heartfelt delivery touch people. I wish you all the best with your channel and your life. Thanks for sharing this honest and touching reaction.
Great reaction. If you want to hear more gospel from her, Lean on me with kirk franklin is insane but has bad quality on yt, or Everyone that's her hardest song ever performed.
Queen Sohyang!
The original version of bridge over troubled water by Simon and Garfunkel was always my favourite version till I heard Soyang , which is now my very favourite version .
She's absolutely the best
Good

Queen Sohyang 👸❤
There simply no words to express how incredible her performance is.
She is different . I want more.
She did a cover of LEAN ON ME with Michael Bolton watching. He was IMPRESSED.

My word, that girl has some pipes. Supremely talented singer, that did justice to a classic song. Outstanding.
She is vocal goddess😊
Queen Sohyang❤
Beginning Sohyang sing like disney princess. She is a great storyteller.

She was about 37 when she sang this version of “Arirang Alone,” their unofficial national anthem based on a 600 year old folk song expressing their desire to reunify north and south: vimeo.com/308253527
While being sick with pneumonia eight times from 2016 through to 2020, and considering giving up singing altogether, she decided to enter a televised singing contest called “King of the Masked Singers” in 2017 and won six consecutive times, which has catapulted her into international attention from the performances being posted on RUclips.
Here is the interview where Sohyang related the events: ruclips.net/video/EqeE_1nP-Kk/видео.html (Be sure to turn on English subtitles.)
Here is the version of “I Have Nothing” Oprah, David Foster, Whitney's former manager and the rest watched on RUclips: ruclips.net/video/T4UyIMkdy4M/видео.html
She preceded it with this blockbuster: vimeo.com/312061203
She could be an international Super Star if she wanted to be but has decided that it would ruin her spiritually, quoting Proverbs 16:25 “There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.”
In a South Korean television interview Sohyang conceded that she struggled with her desire for fame for a number of years, going into the basement in her home numerous times and closing the door so she could complain vehemently to God that He was holding her back from becoming famous due to her health problems and other unforeseeable events. Then she later saw a Korean TV drama where the talented daughter of a very successful businessman was positive she would take over when her father retired. But he left the management of the company to a woman she hated, so she had a fit and lay kicking and screaming on the floor. Sohyang says she saw herself in that young woman and then understood that God was keeping her from developing self-destructive character by withholding international celebrity status from her. ruclips.net/video/rl-jX9kBsEs/видео.html (Again, turn on English subtitles.)
So as a consequence she does not pursue fame or fortune and actually has no interactive social media presence whatsoever.
What can one say about such a person? She is a literal Wonder Woman! And we need about a billion more just like her! And whether Sohyang likes it or not, fame has found her, run her over and then backed up and run over her again!
On Oct. 5, 2020, it was revealed that Sohyang turned down _yet another_ contract offer, this time from Sony Music US. www.koreaherald.com/view.php?ud=20200921000995
“Debuting in [the] US was my utmost goal for the past 20 years. But when I got a call from the US agency, I politely rejected, as I realized that what I wanted most was not becoming famous,” she said.
“I think singers are very susceptible to arrogance, especially when they hear the screaming from crowds on stage. It can make you feel like as if you’ve become God.”
“And I’m perfectly okay with sharing my music via RUclips, which can reach tens of millions of people all over the world without making me feel stuck up. Maybe that’s why I was born in this era.”
Sohyang is just the most amazing singer, Christian and human being.

you are in for a treat....I wish I could discover Sohyang over again
I cried,too😢
Sohyang's singing prowess extends beyond mere technical proficiency; she is a master at infusing her performances with genuine and heartfelt emotions.
Dig deeper with So Hyang .. you won't be disappointed
she is so good. I got teary eyed.
When passion comes to play, .................. Sohyang ALL the way ...
Finally, another reaction of Sohyang in 2024. You should check out her another live performance too, that will blow you away.
You just met one of the greatest singer of our generation. You don't have to be a music expert to see that she has a God's anointed voice. She can make a rough and tuff grown man tear up. I have seen it countless times on RUclips. Great reaction.
It's been 32 years since my dad's best friend played this on sax at his funeral. Still can't get through it. Thanks for the pauses.
So Hyang is just the best. I think she may be the best singer in the world.
For me, Dimash is the best but no doubt about it, Sohyang is up there!
Her version of “I Have Nothing” on a stage in a blue evening gown is overwhelmingly impressive.
From what I have read and heard SoHyang is a Christian and a deeply religious person. I am not, but when she performs her voice calms me and gives me strength. She is my favorite female singer. Enjoy the discovery. Peace
You nailed it in the beginning, not childlike but Angelic! Loved it!!
Thanks.
She's the best singer on the planet and it's not even close.
Dimash Morissette and some other are close to her, but ok, Sohyang is.... A goddess...
Sohyang:

My favourite covers of hers. Especially her cover of Misty is just magical and deserves to be known and heard by every single person on the planet. Sadly it's a short cover, but it's so so good.
make sure you react to the Begin Again (outdoor intimate) performance of Misty. Sohyang is so good it's ridiculous!
Jeremy
The passion with which she Perform , matches her warm comforting voice!. She is an Angel ! The variety of genre she sings is also stunning !
Thank you for doing this reaction...she is AMAZING!
Loved the reaction, this song is a good intro as she starts off soft, and then WHAM, hits you with her control and range.
She has a lovely voice. This song always reminds me of Jesus, as if He's singing it to us. He's truly been my bridge over troubled waters.
She came down here to sing for wounded souls! Love your reaction to SoHyang~ New subscriber from S.Korea.
Love seeing ppl’s very first reaction to Sohyang. Welcome to the magic rabbit hole of joy that is Sohyang. Lots of videos and performances from her that will give you this same feeling. Check out You Raise Me Up or I Have Nothing next.
That is awesome
Welcome to sohyang world.
She is world best singer.
Please react to another song by her.
Song is amazing!!!
Have you heard Dan Vasc sing Amazing Grace, another beautiful song!! Thanks
Just a staggering performance of an amazing song

A warm welcome to Sohyang world :)
Best vocalist on the planet !!!!!!!!! Period
She’s glory herself. Please check out more of her performances ❤❤❤
Bravo 👏
I think it was after this performance that she had to go right back to hospital because she had pneumonia. I do not know if you know her health related story but she survived cancer and has had an on again off again battle with pneumonia. Also her back up singers deserve a mention for sure.
Yeah she gets to me every time too. She has the magic in her voice like Morissette and Daneliya Tuleshova and Angelina Jordan
along with Charlotte Summers from Spain.
By the way I am very happy she decided to keep singing.

it was cool to watch this with you reacting, because this had me wondering if I was just vulnerable myself when I listened to it the other night for the first time. She also does some Whitney Houston covers and Celine Dion covers and WOW, she takes ownership. Like you said, her high register is far beyond the best I have heard and I can't stop digging her videos up now.

소향👍👍👍👍💚💚💚
She reminds me so much of Celine Dion ❤

BTW, Whitney's former manager saw the DMC Festival video of Sohyang singing "I Have Nothing", and contacted Oprah Winfrey, who in turn, contacted David Foster.
My thoughts exactly on Carey and Grande, as talented as they are, I dread to listen to them.

Thanks for sharing this honest and touching reaction.
gotta listen to her performance of "you raise me up" !!
Wow
감동적인 리액션 너무 감사합니다~~
오늘 소향님 신곡이 발표되었어요!!
"til you love me again" 꼭 들어보세요~~~~
welcome to join the world of Sohyang finally dude
만번은 들었지만 늘 경이롭다
I’m so excited for you- there are so many great Korean artists! So Hyang is one of the very best!
She sings a lot of gospel songs too.
❤
Great reaction. If you want to hear more gospel from her, Lean on me with kirk franklin is insane but has bad quality on yt, or Everyone that's her hardest song ever performed.
