I thought it was best that there was no repetition between the title, tags, attributes and categories.
Thanks for the comment, Peter! I learned something new today. After taking a break from my etsy shop in 2015, I always thought my tags had to match word for word/phrase for them to come up. Maybe that's one of the reasons why my shop struggles so much.
Very clearly explained. As a long time Etsy seller I can say that as a fact. It's all too easy to add in information that is not helpful to a newbie. I'm in the top 3% on Etsy. Sad to say I don't get daily sales. Every time they change the search my sales plummet. I added a cotton face mask to my shop at the end of March and told a few friends about it. They came and made a purchase. Somehow that exploded into over 56 sales in a month. I barely make 100 sales a year. Then suddenly in the middle of May the sales disappeared. No rhyme or reason with Etsy.

Hello, Deborah. Thanks Alura, for helping me - find you. I really enjoyed your video. Thank you for helping people grow. But I have a question for you-how about the Etsy description? If it's best to use different keywords in the TITLE and TAGS, what about the description? Are tags necessary, or should I just naturally write the best features of the product, and that's it? Thank you for your response. 🤗😇
Thank you, Deb! I was getting so confused with all the contradicting info. So if I understand correctly, only repeat the most relevant long tail keywords, don't repeat too much of the item designation like necklace or earrings and think of other words that could apply? I think the hardest part for me is thinking outside the box to describe my items (jewelry). Do you think looking at fashion magazines for how they describe similar styles is a good idea or is that too much fluff that nobody is searching for? Thanks again for the video and have a beautiful day.
Thank you so much for the nice words about the video, I am glad it's helpful! You only want to repeat the most relevant keywords - often called focus keywords - in your tags and title. It doesn't mean you should never repeat another one, not hard rule - but try to avoid excessive repetitions and use that space instead for more variety in your keywords. Regarding the magazine idea, I think this is actually a good thing to do during the keyword brainstorm process to get ideas of potential terms, but then you want to do some research and keep only those terms that people are searching for to filter that list of ideas down.
Thanks soooooo much Deborah for your videos, they're indeed very informative. I'm new to your channel and also new to Etsy as a seller, so I'm just in the right place at the right time. Blessings to you, thanks again.

PS: next video coming up is all about long tail keywords, I think you'll find it helpful too ;-) A great add-on to this one.
Thanks soooooo much Deborah for your videos, they're indeed very informative. I'm new to your channel and also new to Etsy as a seller, so I'm just in the right place at the right time. Blessings to you, thanks again.
You are so welcome! Glad it's helpful, Josieann!
You should talk up your esty with Edwinconsult __ on Instagram I’d advise.. helped fixed mine over after few talks... making lot of sales and traffic afterwards

This is an excellent video! Thank you so much Deborah. Do the tag or title phrases have to make sense or be in a certain order?
Thanks for the question! We discuss this more in our Etsy SEO Blueprint course here 👉 www.hq.tizzit.co/dashboard/etsy-seo-success-blueprint/ 😉 hope this is helpful! - L
Thank you. I really appreciated the simple explanation for beginners like me. I definitely have too many 'duplicate' tags and need to diversify my descriptions. I'd love to see some examples for different kinds of products using these rules you just explained. I feel like I have a hard time finding a variety of ways to describe my products and could use the examples. :)
Glad it was helpful, Susan! We share lots of examples and walk you through step-by-step in our new course actually--linking it here for you in case it's of interest! www.hq.tizzit.co/etsy-seo-blueprint/ - L
Thank you Deborah!!! I love your videos!! I definetely need to work on all this!!
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching!
Thanks
Thank you for all your videos!! They are all very helpful. Can you give some descriptions for wreaths? I'm still having a very hard time with this.
I really appreciated this video. I have created over 550 tee-shirt designs (all unique and not just like everyone else) for my ETSY shop over 3 months ago. I have only made one sale?? There is never an answer from my emailed questions and requests for help to ETSY? That is terrible customer support on their part. I have looked at each of these listings to see if there is a consistent issue or missing element, but haven't found anything. I don't want to give up but don't really know where else to go for help.
Hi there! Are you using data to do your keyword research from either eRank or Marmalead?
