In case anyone cared: Daisy is the princess of Sarasaland. For the longest time I assumed that was a misspelling of "Salsaland" (since the first reference was from Super Mario Land and that was during the same period that we got things like "Warakiya" instead of "Wallachia"), but apparently "sarasa" is some kind of Japanese flower arranging, hence the flower brooch that Daisy wears (and her name, of course). I'm one of those people that likes Daisy. I wish there was a game about Luigi saving Daisy, since they're a pseudo-couple. It'd be cool! Sarasaland could be invaded by those aliens again, and Mario could be busy with...something else (maybe it could happen while he and Princess Toadstool were on vacation on Isle Delfino?) so Luigi has to do it. I dunno, I think it'd be neat.
Here's what I've deduced from minigame skills: Jon: Great at platformers and puzzle games Chugga: Extremely lucky with luck based games Tim: great at mashing the shit outta your controller games
i think this is the time when the games start looking good, the boards feel way more alive and interactive as they're filled with moving parts, of which many interact with gameplay

Y'know, there something REALLY rare that can happen on this game. Ive only seen it once, but if the DK space is right next to a Bowser Space and someone lands on the Bowser, there is a chance DK will pop up from his space and punch Bowser in the face, caceling most of the event (though Big B still takes some coins from the person that landed on the space). Its really rare, cause the chances of DK being next to Bowser are so slim.
I continue to be baffled by their love of Mario Party 4, especially when Emile says this game "doesn't look as high budget" as 4. All of the boards in Mario Party 4 were the same gray catwalks with only the flat background being different. How the hell does every board actually looking creative and different look "not as high budget" as identical gray catwalks?
Very old comment, but yeah. I don't know, maybe he was still blindsided by the CGI intro from MP4 and just thought "Wow, that's cheap" when he saw that MP5 didn't have one, and he just applied that line of thinking it to the entire game. Overall, I think he bashed this game way too much. It has more bad minigames than 4, but it also has more minigames, so I guess that evens it out. To me, the biggest problem with 5 is that turns on boards can be a bit too slow compared to the other games, but I really like the boards, and I like the minigames.

This game gets a lot of gripe with the item mechanics, which I can sympathize with since this was my first Mario Party and didn't know buying items was already established. Though one thing I remembered about this game was this: The best way to have fun with the game is you don't treat it like the previous games but rather it's a board BUILDING game. Or at least that's how I made the game fun for countless hours of my childhood.
Honestly, this is probably my favorite Mario Party. I loved 1/2, and 3/4 were okay, but this one... I love the boards, most of the minigames are honestly really fun, the graphics aren't the best but they're completely passable... It was just honestly really solid overall. And I have been SO looking forward to them playing it.~
when Jon mentioned Mario Party 7 and 8-player, all I could think of is a 8-player LP of Mario Party 7 with the 3 main guys and the 5 guests (Josh, Luca, SuperJeenius, Masae, and Stephan) playing it. please let this happen
I really needed something happy to forget all the stress of my shitty existence and thankfully TRG is always able to cheer me up and remind me that sometimes, life is worth living. Thank you Chugga, Jon, and Tim, for helping me get by when times are tough. It's nice to see something positive even if it's just for a brief 20 minutes at a time

I actually LOVE this Mario Party and it may be my favorite. I remember me and my brother playing a ton of this especially the mini-game mode with volleyball etc. I also love the introduction of those capsules and "creating" spaces. Was looking forward to this LP for a long time and when I saw the announcement and was ecstatic
Mario Party 5 is a strange one to me. I want to say it's one of my favorites (and a lot of my friends say it's one of theirs too, I dunno why you acted like this one was unpopular). It's certainly better than 4 and 8, and I don't have much experience with 1-3, or 7. ...So really it's between this and 6 for my favorite in the series. And both of them using the capsules as items add a layer of strategy I'm not very good with. Admittedly some of the minigames in 5 are a bit odd, but there's still some pretty good ones as well, and I like the overall aesthetic of the game. And since some of the "bad" ones are pure luck ones, this'll be interesting to watch in any case! Also, talking about the last five turns event, don't forget the "five star spaces" one. That one can get super weird if they're placed right, I've had turns where I got two or three stars in one roll because of it.
Chuggaaconroy: He's the pun master! You can't get enough of him. He won the first Mario Party, but since failed to win the title. (Despite winning the stats in Mario Party 3) (Won Mario Party 1) Proton Jon: Sometimes if you're lucky, you'll catch him uploading. Rarely. Anyway, he won the most titles, but sometimes he can't catch a break. He narrowly lost to Chuggaaconroy in the first, but rebounded by barely winning against him in Mario Party 2. In Mario Party 3, he just failed, but almost took all the games in Mario Party 4. (Won Mario Party 2 & Mario Party 4) NintendoCaprisun: He loves doing LP's....IN THE BATHROOM! Heh. Sorry. Anyway, he has not done very well in this series, finishing in last or 3rd almost every time. Mario Party 5 does have a few too many button mashing minigames, and a worse story mode than 3 or 4 (imo), but I really think they did a great job with the board designs and the extra modes. I really like the little details on boards like at 10:55.

I was honestly expecting Four Swords Adventures. I'm so glad I was wrong. Mario Party 5 is my favorite of the Gamecube Mario Parties. I can't wait to see what unfolds during this. Will Waluigi win the majority of the boards? Will Yoshi come from behind and surprise us all? And most of all will Daisy be a Hard character for Emile to use? ;)

It's sad to hear that these guys dislike this one, and a lot of its minigames. This one has some of my favorites in the series. I could play Fish Upon a Star for days.
When I saw this I had this build up of emotions. I was 15 when they started Mario Party and 13 when I discovered Chuggaconroy (my first RUclipsr/lper) in 2009 after playing Ness in Smash Bros.
I'm super excited for this! Mario Party 5 is personally my favorite in the series, but judging by how you guys discuss this game, I may or may not change my mind. I just hope Jon doesn't have a 5-board win streak again.
Yeah, I liked this game. But too many of the minigames revolve around button-mashing and luck. Even for normal Mario Party standards. On the bright side, we could get some hilarious moments because of this in this LP. :D

For saying something this late, I guess I'm late to the PARTY... But honestly, this is a game I don't remember ever getting, and one of the few games we have. It's been there ever since I could remember, and I've spent hours playing this with family and friends. To see it be played by some of my favorite youtubers is like a DREAM come true.
So excited this LP is finally here! This is honestly one of my favorite MPs. I love the whole "dream" theme, the music, and the mini-games are really fun too (well, except the luck-based and button-mashing ones!). My favorite mini-games are Coney Island and Fish Upon a Star, btw. Anyway, Part 1 has me really excited for the rest!
My perfect Mario Party would be this. Super Duels from MP5 Duel Boards from MP3 Costume Changes from MP2 Unlockable gimmicky stuff from MP4 story mode and an optional one player vs. many from MP10. Any I'm missing?

Guy Limes a game cube only has four sockets for controllers
so you couldn't use five controllers on one game cube

I was honestly expecting Four Swords Adventures. I'm so glad I was wrong. Mario Party 5 is my favorite of the Gamecube Mario Parties. I can't wait to see what unfolds during this.
Will Waluigi win the majority of the boards? Will Yoshi come from behind and surprise us all? And most of all will Daisy be a Hard character for Emile to use? ;)

When I saw this I had this build up of emotions. I was 15 when they started Mario Party and 13 when I discovered Chuggaconroy (my first RUclipsr/lper) in 2009 after playing Ness in Smash Bros.
I'm super excited for this! Mario Party 5 is personally my favorite in the series, but judging by how you guys discuss this game, I may or may not change my mind. I just hope Jon doesn't have a 5-board win streak again.

For saying something this late, I guess I'm late to the PARTY... But honestly, this is a game I don't remember ever getting, and one of the few games we have. It's been there ever since I could remember, and I've spent hours playing this with family and friends. To see it be played by some of my favorite youtubers is like a DREAM come true.

So excited this LP is finally here! This is honestly one of my favorite MPs. I love the whole "dream" theme, the music, and the mini-games are really fun too (well, except the luck-based and button-mashing ones!). My favorite mini-games are Coney Island and Fish Upon a Star, btw. Anyway, Part 1 has me really excited for the rest!
