I cut a stick bait in half today and rigged it up for ned rig and it worked great
Started using this rig, or my own similar version, and have caught more fish in the past year than my entire life
If that was my boat, those rock bass and perch would have been coming home in the cooler! Nice catch.
I just started putting together the Ned Rig and Senko worms yesterday after reading about them in a local sportsman's magazine. They seem like a great way to catch Smallies and everything else from what I am seeing now, lol!! Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge with us. You have a Fantastic Channel!!
I'm glad you showed the variety of fish you caught.
Just found your channel looking for some good fishing tips but I honestly think you catch as many fish as you do just because you have such a good upbeat attitude. The fish are just excited to meet such a nice guy who gives them all a good complement and sends them on their way. Keep up the good work brother! 🍻
Could also be that he’s on a community pond that gets stocked and doesn’t see a lot of pressure from boats, either way he’s killin it.
Great demo of the ned rig. I just bought some and will be using it soon.
I'm new to ned rigs, but there is one more cool thing with ned rigs, zman crawz are killer for huge smallmouth up here in PA. Fish exactly same way.
Ned rig is an awesome bait and it really does work. I find it’s a killer in the early spring before the weeds fill up the pond and make it almost impossible to fish. I know Z man makes the weedless heads but to me it doesn’t even make a difference. The thing gets caught on literally everything. Only problem with the Ned rig for how expensive those z man mushroom heads are. The elastech do make a difference in the buoyancy/action. I do enjoy the ol’ Z man Trd usually always have a couple on deck. But man oh man depending on what type of bottom you are fishing these ned rigs can rack up quite a bill. If you’re fishing around sticks and lay downs you’ll be lucky to make more than a few casts with this thing
I agree I live in Alabama and mostly fish local waters. And there isn’t many places you can actually fish a ned rig.
Weedless ned rig. It's fantastic.
I’m with you. Love a strong ned bite, and it is a fishing machine, but when you’re throwing it all day you go through a ton of those heads.
Wonder what the bottom looks like with a lot of them snagged lol
I'm going to get myself a Ned rig setup. I have a friend that fishes with them and he catches all sorts of fish, bass, walleye etc.. I bought a kit for my stepfather for Christmas.
Good tips. I caught a large mouth on the Ned rig today.
Great video. Funny how you said to not over work the jig, but in every instance you reeling or lifting the jig. I'm confused.
Great video..Look forward to trying some in the New Year..
ole trusty the Ned Rig. i was made a believer fishing with you that ned rig set up
NED RIG IS 1/16 OZ MOST OF THE TIME
i’ve caught everything from bluegill to pike on ned rigs
Ned rig has been real good to me
I caught 22 largemouth yesterday up to 4 lbs.. first time using one.. I used a black 1/32oz jig head with #4 sickle hook and half a brown strike king shimmy shad on 8lb test florocarbon and 7 1/2' medium lite spinning rod.. so much fun.. I lost a few but that's going to happen now and then.. Thanks for the video...👍
Nobody ever loses fish
Love fishing with Ned rigs
My wife just hooked a 20-24” northern on a Ned last night. I think it was her second cast with it and bite right away.
Nice video. This side of the pond we catch monster Perch on the Ned and huge Wrasse too. Subscribing was easy desiion.
I just got my first Ned rig fish last weekend. 4.4lb large mouth.
Never heard of or used one of these, but I cannot fathom it working any better than a tube of the same color and size.... I fish them all the way from weightless on a texas rigged worm hook, to a 1/2 oz. jig head....
I already bought a mh rod , well ima try my best to compensate.
Great video and excellent rig demo and explanation. Really appreciate the great content!
Gotta love the ned rig!
It smacks always 🙌🏼
Man........you make it look as easy as walking into Publix and picking up tilapia from the seafood section.
In the spring it really is that easy sometimes 🤣 best time to fish by far
@@bassinbill96 everytime i see a video like this I look at the date and it's almost always in May
Very good tips!! I love that lake, I’ve fished Diamond all my life, just wish it produced more big bass, but nonetheless great video man!!
First time watching channel . Good video . Did you know that Ned Kellie ( < spelling ? ) actually made the bait popular by swimming it . But it's working for you the way your using it .
I love using the strike king rage bug and cuttr worm.
Well I bought me some of those Ned rigs but I don't think I used it properly I'm going to try again I like the variety of fish you're catching that's awesome
It works! Been trying to catch these finikey bass in my residential pond. These fish has seen every lure and will not bite but I got them on the ned rig with subtle movements. 3 in 30min.
Caught a 40in pike on one here in southwest Michigan
ned rig is my go-to when my wacky worm doesn't work😂
A bit new to this system of rigging. Any recommendations on line type / size?
Hi, My question for you is… after get on the lake, How would you know which color lure to start out with??
Tim--- just my 2 cents, as I fish the Ned rig quite a bit. I default to black much of the time. If the water is clear or a little stained, more natural or muted colors should work-- green pumpkin, crawfish, goby, etc. In the spring or if the water is pretty stained, I love the coppertreuse or green pumpkin/orange colors by Zman-- something with a bright color on it just to help with visibility. I know alot of guys like PB&J too. But I probably use plain old black about 60% of the time and it just catches em. Play around with colors and you'll find the ones you're confident with. Good luck.
Ok Great, That helps. Thanks !
OMG!!
2much fun! Various species made the day!
Always fun to catch surprise fish!
Fantastic video. 👍
Great video
Can I use a barrel swivel or do I have to tie it directly to the line
I haven't noticed much difference between a perfectly straight rigged ned rig and one with a little bit of a curve or wobble to it other than the one that's not perfectly straight seems to catch more fish on the fall probably because the curve causes it to spin.
What were the songs in your video? They were really bangers
Hi Bassig
I have a question. I have hardly fished with that type of plastic and I am new to fishing. Would you like to recommend a good rod and reel for that type of fishing, which one would you recommend? thank you
Got on my PB on the same set up and then broke it with the same set up
Good stuff! Thanks for this video!!
Nice. Did I miss an explanation how to determine jig weight?
You look at the package lol
Must have bait for sure. First time I used one I limited out in one spot.
What line and lb test are you using? Maybe I missed that?
I use 4-8lb mono, seems to work the best
@@tannercrim4774 haaa haa! You fresh water guys crack me up! I use 15 lbs braid on my ultralight!! Florocarbon leader of course. Be even when I freshwater fish, the braid cuts the Lilly pads and weeds like NO mono Ever could. Braid is the way to go my friend. Once you change (and learn how to use it) you'll Never go back to mono. Try it once. I recommend power pro, cheep braid will just piss you off. Tight lines amigos! Oh, and I used to use 6lbs mono years ago, it's just TOO Damn light now, and 15 lbs braid is thinner that 6 lbs mono so you cast way farther.
Scott Michael thanks for the advice, so 15 pound braid is the way to go for Ned rigging?
@@tannercrim4774 it takes some getting used to, braid is SO thin, you get wind knots if you don't cast It right. But bro, when it clicks,, like seriously 15 lbs Braid on my ultralight, 20 lbs on my light gear, and 30 lbs on my 4000 size gear (medium) for saltwater! I can pull in a 30 lbs drum on my medium rod. 15 lbs braid costs 2 times mono, but lasts 4 times as long. And the lower diameter. It casts Way farther. But the shit is SO thin and SO strong, it'll cut the Hell out of your fingers. Like paper cuts. It's a learning curve. But you won't go back to mono. Oh, and you'll need to learn the double uni knot to tie on your leader. Never braid to bait, but leader to lure is cool. If you're JUST starting out, use whatever line you can afford, after that, you'll move to braid. Good luck my friend.
Scott Michael thank you!! I will try it out
Thanks a lot!
Do you think the silver ball jig head hooks will work just as good?
Like the video, thank you. What size reel and line do you recommend. Thanks
1000-3000 8lb for the 3000 but 6 fit the 1000
Can u use a senko as the bait?
Like the fish care if it's straight or not
Does size of lure matter I have yum dingers is that to big?
z man is the best it out fishes all the others
good day, great vid, good work, thanks for sharing
minute 7,30 in your video - big perch? check perch fishing in Scandinavia (Perch Pro 7 competition in English)...nice video, i'll start Peach fishing with ned rig in Sweden this season...
I don't live where perch exist, but I know from uncut angling on youtube a perch with 7 real stripes (which that one has) is a monster perch.
There was lure like that in late 70s,80s called do nothing rig
we called them jig grubs back when we used 1/2 a Creme nightcrawler/worm on standard jighead. We originally "designed" them for walleye though.
How i rig them is as soon as the worm slides around the bend of the hook i poke it through, it makes em as straight as an arrow for me
Yes
What type of knot are you using
My bait was so curvy after getting so many fish and I still caught fish
What pound test line are you using?
For me I use 8 lb magnathin from stren or some 6 lb so pretty light
Is there a line weight/color any of y’all would recommend?
15 lb light green suffix 832
Awesome video. Love using the ned rig
If you fish a new pond the ned rig will tell you if there's fish or not. If you're struggling with catching Bass. Try it it doesn't hook the biggest but small are better than nothing.
Turn off the sound...watch the sign language ...understand it 100%...Great job !
Ned rig that’s what we called a french fry in the 90s
Just subbed buddy 👊🏻🔥
I've never used a Ned rig before I'm usually a drag it along the bottom kind of guy with big ol ribbontails so I'd like to try this when that doesn't work. But I dont understand what to do with the bait while it's in the water like does it just stay or do I like lift it up and bounce it a little or what
I believe with Ned rigs you don’t want to work them too much, he demonstrated that barely moving it every now and then works. The fish see the bait along the bottom and flock to it, you don’t really have to move it at all
Love the vid
I've caught a pickerel on a ned rig last year
Which state is this? I am a north Illinois and it is hard to get some fish
Love throwing 8" magdrafts on my ned heads...
That’s my go to 😳🤫🤫🤫
Best thing is buy a bag of senkos cut in half get double the amount for same price
Put the rattle from the googan in the TRD... thank me later lol
Better off Ned! These days my tackle box is an altoids tin - just a fistful off The Walking Ned!
using ned in sweden for perch best one one ned is at 48 cm an 1700 grams... but even got seatrout and pike... on the zeman
Looks like just the top 2-3 inches of a 10 inch rubber worm
What size hook is best for ned rig?
I like the heads catch co makes and Zman makes. 1/6 ounce is my go to size. 1/10 if there is no wind and I’m fishing less than 10 foot of water
Dark or light color for dark murky water ?
Light
Green pumpkin
I know I am really late to this video, but I have a question about where you throw a ned rig. Do you really only fish it on hard/clean bottoms? Or would you toss a ned rig into a grassy area (hydrilla patches for example).
You can throw it in that stuff but it does tend to get hung up a bit more if your in deep grass or weeds.
How about not targetting big bass on their beds?
What lb test line did you use
Probably 6 to 12 pound fluorocarbon line
So it’s a small fish bait?
Yay fishing tips
Heck yea 🙌🏼
Every time I break a wacky rig in half its now a ned rig
when i use a fastattach sizw 0 i almost dont loose any fish but when i tie it to the nedhead i do.. why is thast
Take the rattler out of the rattin Ned and put it in the zman finese trd
What knot? Does it matter? I like the palomar knot because I dont think one has ever failed me.
Loop knot will give you more action. That's what I use on my paddle tails.
Palomar all day every day
What hook is that?
Brooo where does he live so many freaking fish
What size line
Great video taught me a lot. I got one question though. How does a bent ned rig catch less fish? I am just wanting to know. Great video keep it up.
Just doesn’t have the right action and doesn’t stand up right on the bottom 👍🏼
@@bassinbill96
Oh thank you I just started throwing a ned rig around and caught my first bed fish ever on a ned rig. Thanks for the tips and great videos
How do you know that you will catch half the fish if it's not straight? Also rock bass and perch eat anything.
Do you also throw em in weeds
You can yes
Great video. I'm in the market for a drop shot and ned rig rod. I want to buy American made. I see you are using fox river rods. I can't access their website. Do you have any contact info? Thanks.
I would say go with any medium light I have a medium light 7 foot bass x rod
Good video but I disagree with it having to be perfectly straight in 5’ or less. The twirling fall increases bites a lot of times and zero impact on hooking the fish.
People been saying this about finesse worms for years but I've caught tons of bass on em
Question: on 2 tone TRDs, do you bring the hook point out the darker side or lighter side? PB or J? Dark or white with "The Deal?" And why? Thanks!
Always dark side on top where hook pops out 👍🏼 it’s the most natural. The deal imitates small baitfish which almost always have a dark back and light underside
Ned rigged with no weed guard would never work in a lot of bass fishing environments ie slop, weeds, lilly pads. Anyone can catch bass on pretty much anything in clean clear water with rocky bottoms. A true skilled bass man can catch monsters in the worst slop a lake has to offer.
is a light rod westin w4 ultrastick L 5-20 gr proggresive action 6.8 feet to soft rod? or is it okey
