Will The CHEAPEST SNOW TIRES Actually Work On My 2019 MUSTANG GT? **CANADIAN WINTERS**

  • I recently bought the Nexen Winguard Sport 2 winter tires for my 2019 mustang gt. They were the cheapest set I could buy around my area at almost half price compared to competitors snow tires. We finally had our first snowfall so we got to take out the mustang and see how these cheap tires really hold up when it comes to winter driving. Tires are 275/40 19 in the rear and 255/40 19 up front.

Snow tires are not just the 'bite' but mostly the compound/rubber texture, they are made of..summer tire's rubber gets hard in low temps when snow tires stay souple and grip/bite...also for a RWD car (front engine)..I suggest you put a couple 25 kg(100lbs) sand bags in your trunk..it will help for more/better traction ,and for most a manual trans is really the key for much better control of using 'engine braking'(instead of brakes) or starting in second gear when icy or up-hill...but again 4 proper snow tires is a must for such climate any other choice will be dramatic(and stupid )..so much fun to hit snowy country roads with a RWD..teaches you how to control/drift your car(even at slow speeds) and much improves anyone"s "dry" season's driving..!!..learning how to drive safely in winter makes you a much better/safer driver..(TOYO makes great winter tires ,I have some on my 2003 BMW 328I in the French Alps)...have fun and stay safe..

I hail from USA PA where the winters can be brutal. Around here nobody but nobody cruises a GT in that kinda slop. It's almost forbidden cause you'd be in a ditch or slide off a mountain road. That's when I said hey I gotta see this dudes video hes from Canada. Impressive just pulling outta that parking lot. I'm doing research on those Nexens for my Challenger RT. In high school through college, I drove an old Japanese car that would fish tail on every turn in snow if I went more than 5 MPH. Accelerating from a stop would cause the same to happen. I'm looking at the GT now 23 or 24 and it seems solid enough with the right tires and a weighted backend. Also looks like you got a Bronco recently, which I've been thinking about that as an option too but I'm worried about the 2.7L issues.

I like how you explained that basically you could have all of the new technology built into these new cars, traction control, stability, control, snow, and ice mode. I think that most people think of those options as they have the safest vehicle in a storm. Oh, and all of those bells and whistles, and all of the advanced technology is very misunderstood, but the average person gives them more confidence that their car will never get stuck will never slide around, same with all wheel drive all of those options give a person full confidence because they can accelerate and move through the snow faster and safer because of all the things they have activated in their car but everybody seems to forget the most important factor which makes just about every vehicle no matter if you have every available traction option versus a car that’s in the mid-90s to early 2000s or for that matter older just because you can get through the snow better than everybody else but when it comes time to stop tires or tires they’re made out of rubber some tread patterns are a little better off than others, but rubber is rubber. So with that being said, there’s not that much difference when it comes time to stop in the snow some cars are heavier. Some cars are lighter some cars have antilock braking systems, which sometimes don’t help much so bottom line is just because you can move through the snow better than, the guy next to you doesn’t mean that you can stop any better than anybody else. All those electronic functions are useless when it comes time to have to break and slow down your car what is the most common vehicles in the ditch in a snow storm all Wheel Dr., BMWs Mercedes N SUVs . When you buy a new car, the car dealer should give a demonstration or a video to let the people understand better what all the electronic buttons and safety features do so they don’t get fearless and then cause an accident in the deep snow, because they’re a mess understanding what all those traction options and safety features mean and I bet if that could be accomplished when purchasing a new car, I bet our roads would be nitpicking amount safer, and make people aware that just because you go faster in the snow than the next guy does it mean you can stop any better

@KingZD1 I'm not sure if the 6 speed has it. I'd think it would be up to the driver to choose the shift points and speed on a manual where on the 10 speed the car does it all and doesn't allow the tires to break loose even if your foots to the floor

Key to driving rwd sports cars is good tires, skinnier is better if the snow is deep as it cuts through snow to the road, studded tires is great if it gets icy where your at. But besides driving more carefully you should to plan ahead by checking the weather ahead of time and knowing when or if roads are plowed typically, other than that rwd is just fine as long as your not reckless.
