- In this video I walk through my experience with the Verizon 5G at home internet service. I was attempting to switch out my ISP and Verizon 5G appeared to be a good offer..
If you are considering Verizon's 5G for your home, please use this map to get a first good indication of coverage: www.verizon.com/coverage-map/
*** I would like to apologize for the poor production quality in this video. I have a new mic and I am working with a new video editor. - Наука
I live in the boondocks. I am getting 250/15. Amazing! I would have been thrilled with 10mbs.
Very nice! Thank you for sharing!
I just received my Verizon 5g home internet and all I did was plug it in and log in with the router credentials on the router and it worked no signing in nothing and I am getting 250-300mbps down and 15mbps works awesome so far. Good video thanks
I just got my unit for Verizon 5G Home Internet this week. I'm lucky with the signal, since I'm practically in the center of SF, when I opened the live map showing the 5G towers, they were all around me. Instead of the cube, Verizon shipped me the thinner unit with a window/wall mount. I sat the unit in the window and had a lock on a signal right away. I didn't get the higher price option, just the basic, but still getting anywhere from 450-550 Mbps down, and 250-350 up. It's only been a week, but will keep an eye on the speeds to see if they decline. From this video, it looks like you really need to be in the middle of a city to get great speeds.
hello and thank you for the comment. That is 100% accurate. If you are in a major city with many 5G antennas this service would be fantastic for you. Thank you for sharing your speeds and experience and thank you for watching :)
I have had Verizon Fios for home internet for several years and it's worked out fine.
Hello, thank you for the comment. I also ended up with FIOS after the 5G at home didnt work. I am loving FIOS its been fantastic! Thank you for watching!
It may be that the radio automatically chooses the strongest and closest tower, which happens to be only with sub 6Ghz 5G bands, even if in area you live another tower has ultra-wide 5G bands, to be honest I don’t understand why there is no option in the settings of the modem to manually choose another tower and to give you option to connect to an external long range antenna, that would be great in my opinion
Hello, you make a very good point! at the very least it should be something in the backend where verizon support could enable when you call in for help. Thank you for the excellent comment and thank you for watching!
Mine is the lower plan the $25 plan yesterday I hit 475 on the download. It’s a great product for me.
Going on my third week no problems live about 30 miles west of Chicago been getting between 85 and 160 not to bad only had to move the box once
Not bad at all! Thank you for sharing your speeds and thank you for watching.
For most if u are near a 5G tower. N77 has decent range. Definitely over a mile it can work and then you will get about 250 down an 20 up. I have it and thus is the speeds I get all the time
Thank you for the comment, that is indeed nice download speed!
@@SolDoesTech yes I agree
I’ve had mine close to a week. Getting 5GUW on my cellphone at my house. Last speed test I was getting 282Mbps.
Thank you for sharing your speed, that is indeed fantastic!
How can I find out. how close i'm to 5G tower?
Verizon does have a map showing coverage, I linked that in the video description but the truth is you won't know till you go through the setup and use the 5G compass and even then it's not very clear. I think verizon still has the 30 day return policy so check on that and then give it a shot. If you are near a 5G tower it's well worth it, best of luck!
how is this different from other 5G UW hotspots that Verizon offers?
can this device be used on a RV? ie move around the country?
An RV would be an excellent application for this device but you have to be aware of cell towers locations and 5G coverage in your travels. Great question and thank you for watching!
@@SolDoesTech isn't this device backward compatible with 4G ?
@@davidjacobs8558 Yes you are correct, the device would fail to 4G if it can't get a 5G signal just like a cell phone would. This was part of the issue I was having deploying this at my home as it favored the near by 4G towers and not the 5G tower.
@@SolDoesTech I heard Verizon hotspots will throttle after set amount of data has been used.
where as 5G Home will not. is this true?
@@davidjacobs8558 That is correct, you can see the details on that here www.verizon.com/support/verizon-plan-unlimited-faqs/ look at question number 5
I received my Verizon box today. It set up rather quickly. Mixed feelings about speed tests so far. I'm supposed to have one tower just over a couple streets, and there's another a couple more blocks over. The sales rep said they cap the number of users with access to each tower, but that seems unlikely. Several tests. My downloads are hitting around 150. The uploads have been all over the place, often hitting around 18 or 20, but even dipping to about 8. Never at the promoted 30. A few hours after setting things up it seemed like I lost connection all together and I reboot the box. It's storming outside, but the rep said weather won't affect this. If that's true I wonder why I lost service. And it seems like I should be getting faster speed than 150 with a tower so close.
Hello and thank you for sharing your experience!Very interesting results indeed. Do you think you will be keeping this? Thank you for watching!
@@SolDoesTech I'm going to give it some more time on the free 30 day trial. A later test after I posted here got up to 200. I may contact them at least to say a customer living so close isn't getting great speed. See what they suggest. My box sits right in a window.
@@alexbreyer6921 That 30 day guarantee is very nice, it gives you the ability to fully test the product. A few others that had posted here stated that their connection had gotten better with time so that is something to maybe look forward to. Thanks again for sharing!
So I just ordered the Verizon Home Internet, currently waiting for my router to arrive, but I was a little confused. For the Home Internet Plus, it says between 80-300mbps, but could be higher depending on location and signal? I heard you say it’s supposed to be between 300-1000.
Hello and thanks for watching! You are correct that I did indeed state that the home plus plan provides 300-1000 Mbps while the standard 5G Home only gives you 85-300Mbps. The only thing to keep in mind is that you will need to be able to receive a 5G UW “High-band” signal to get the 300-1000Mbps on the plus plan, if you cant get that signal then you would default to the standard 85-300Mbps on 5G “mid-band” even if you pay for Plus. I didnt cover that in my video so thank you for bringing that to the comments. The full details of the plan speeds can be found here www.verizon.com/support/broadband-services/
@@SolDoesTech I appreciate the response. I was confused because I ordered through the app and it had the same exact info as the Standard Home Internet. I went with the plus, but realized why would I pay for the plus if it’s the same thing as standard. So I appreciate the clarification. Seems we have a lot of 5G towers where I’m at, so hoping for that 300-1000.
I was in the same boat when I first looked through the offer as they don’t list the speeds very clearly on the order page. If you can, please post your speed test results once you are setup, it would be appreciated :)
@@SolDoesTech will do! Box should be here tomorrow.
@@SolDoesTechid you get it yet if so hown is it i got the 85-300 too !
I have had the Verizon 5G Home Internet since Dec 28, 2022 and it works great. I do not have any connection problems. I canceled Comcast and now have RUclips TV, which also works great.
When I log into the My Verizon app on my phone, I cannot locate the Compass feature. Where is that found?
Thank you for watching and thank you for the comment! Glad to hear you are happy with your service, any chance you can share your speed test results? Also, RUclips TV is fantastic :) As far as the compass app, it's something you can access during the setup process, I don't think it's possible to access it as its own app feature. Verizon should release this as an independent app as it was very insightful.
The compass only works when you 1st set it up out the box
@@10super Thank you
Me too love it returned box’s last week after 30 years of BS RUclips tv is great so many channels I lost trimming my bill with Comcast plus saving 120 bucks s month
@@SolDoesTech I have some speed tests you can look at if you want
Note the reset, button on the side should face the tower.
I got mine last week. Unfortunately for me it's only 4GLTE in my area. My cell phone does say I have 5G reception, but Verizon insisted that right now it's only 4GLTE. To my surprise the 4GLTE works great! I continuously get 200 MBPS. I will upgrade to 5G plus when it's available, but right now I'm pleasantly surprised.
Wow that is very nice download speed, thank you for sharing!
200mbps doesnt mean jack shit. These are all theoretical speeds & most of the time are manipulated. Try streaming high bandwidth videos simultaneous over 5G & open multiple browsers running different speed tests especially servers away from your location. Cloud servers & DNS revolvers play a bigger role & most importantly a proximity of the server you are getting connected to including # of users. Level 3 DNS is not the fastest any more & it is the backbone for Verizon network!
It’s junk in my area. After trying different locations in my home; 72 mbps was the best download speed I could get. Might be good in your area tho. Good luck.
Thank you for posting your speed and thanks for watching!
Do you know how many people would love to get 70 down? Lol
I just did a speed test and my numbers are 44/2. The hotspot on my phone is way better than that. I’m probably not keeping this Home thing
I live in Brooklyn NYC
Hello, thank you for posting your speedtest results. Seems that you were in a similar situation to mine. Sorry it didn't work out for you. Thank you for watching!
I just got Verizon 5G gateway the down load speed 200 -600 mbps and 15 up load. I love my T-mobile 5G home internet year ago had 300-1000 mbps download and 50 mbps upload speed. but recently my t-mobile speed dropped down to 10 mbps even I reboot it many times still not fast as before. Sometimes it disconnect when raining or windy time. So I give a try for Verizon but not impressed with it.
Hello, thank you for sharing your experience and speed! 200-600 is not bad at all but I see your point when you were getting much higher ranges with T-mobile before. Thanks again for sharing and thank you for watching!
Have you tried the Tmobile home wireless internet.
No I have not, have you? If so, how was your experience?
@@SolDoesTech I've actually tried both TMHI and VZHI. VZHI I'm keeping and cancelling Xfinity and signing up for RUclips TV. TMHI wasn't as good for me. It dropped out more and didn't work well for wfh. Surprisingly no one at my work has said anything about VZHI. T-Mobile was too unreliable, which is surprising and sucks since my phone with them averages 500-600mpbs and VZHI sits around 150-200mbps
Thank you for watching and thank you for posting your speed and experience with the 2 providers!
@@SolDoesTech No problem! Good video! I have a Verizon tower about 1 mile away from me and it's a 5G tower. Unfortunately though it's not mmWave. Putting the gateway in my top floor by my bedroom window actually lowered my ping and increased my speeds which I figured would happen. Seems it works best when you're able to get it higher up in your home to get rid of interference.
I would not have kept the service if I had run into your situation though and it's refreshing to hear such a true review on RUclips of a product like this.
@@SolDoesTech in my area i get great connection with my TMHI ive had no problems with it and i have over 20 devices including smart devices connected and i can still game and stream at the same time. Though all of these HI's performances are location based.
It's $60 Verizon's cheapest plan, guaranteed price for 2 years.
In my area, at least.
Thank you for the comment, I think there is a discount if you are already a Verizon cell phone customer.
I have read so many negatives on both Verizon and TMobile wireless home internet, I’m just sticking with my DSL. 30 mbps downloads is fine for streaming 4 simultaneous HD movies. Never down.
A very fine point indeed! DSL is older technology but it is very reliable, I can see how sticking with it makes sense especially if you don't require additional bandwidth at this time. Thank you for this comment!
Milwaukee Wisconsin Verizon att purely not worth it doesn't work government phone's are faster after your screen break no connection plus it's all way buffering
Thank you for sharing that, carriers need to expand their network for the good of paying customers.
If I could get 100 Mbps or faster for $25, that would be OK. So far Verizon won't offer us a Home Internet box.
agree 100%! I was trying to cut down on expenses moving away from spectrum. They kept on raising my bill every month by $1 or $2 so having that set price with no fees for 10 years would have been fantastic! unfortunately the 5G just didn't work well for me. Ended up with Frontier Fiber for $39.99 a month for the 1st year with 500Mbps. So much better than Spectrum mainly because the upload speed is also about 500Mbps which helps with my WFH setup.
I actually have it for $5 because I qualify for ACP credit. $25 - 20= $5, and Constant 200Mbps. I couldn't be happier about internet at the moment.
@@terrybadour7877 $5 is awesome.. heck a grande latte at Starbucks is more.. very nice!
@@SolDoesTech If the Verizon network is good in your area, you may want to look at Visible wireless. That's what I use.
@@tonykeltsflorida I would have to check it out, thank you!
December 2022and same things in 2023j January 2023 purely garbage you're better off buying a phone and using Wi-Fi off your phone AT&t does the same thing AT&t ameritech wherever you want to call it also has hidden fees
Excellent point about the hotspot, part of the reason I was so hopeful for this 5G setup is because my phone works great. I also have 5G on my iPad and we had some outages here with Spectrum and I had to use the 5G for work and it was very good so I was surprised the Internet at Home setup was too poor. Thank you for the comment!
Verizon is over rated & it doesnt matter if its 5G or future 10G. Fiber optic or hybrid systems like Spectrum & Comcast are much more consistent. Everybody brags about Verizon, but most have no clue about technology. I got basic spectrum with 300 MBPS & never had any problems with downloads. It may take a bit to upload a file over 2GB, but how many of us actually need high upload speeds? I will never pick 5G crap over Comcast or Spectrum cable modem.
Thank you for the comment! A hardwired connection like cable or fiber would always be a more reliable solution. I think the 5G solution is great for the price and its nice for people that dont want to deal with cabling like maybe an apartment or a small office. But.. it all depends on how close you are to 5G antenna and what kind of bandwidth you need on the regular. I myself ended up with Fiber and I am never looking back :) Thank you for watching!
You are a hater. I got spectrum and I get 500 download but it's inconsistent and sometimes I don't get my notifications. I turn off wifi then bunch of notifications pop up
