Jonah Irene Im sorry, no, Aragon clearly won. She was unfairly jailed for SEVEN years. Her first husband died, and she was forced to marry his brother. She rode into battle PREGNANT, won, and Henry still had the gall cheat on her and have 3+ mistresses (come on, we all know it was way more.) He even had an illegitimate son that he tried to marry off to Mary. Christ, not only did Henry create a religion to divorce her, which I’m sure was a bomb to her mental health, he wore yellow to her funeral along with Anne B. Anne B was also a total bitch to Aragon’s daughter, Mary. She put up with scandal after scandal and abuse for 20+ years of her life. What happened to Howard was terrible, yes, but not worse than all the shit Aragon had to put up with.

hopesworld 9 Hey I know you might not care for the answer, but historically Catherine of Aragon was a political prisoner. Much like how Anne of Cleves was forcefully kept in England (and sent letters to her brother subtly begging him not to anger Henry), after the death of Henry’s older brother Catherine was essentially held against her will by Henry’s father, who was keeping her to a)Force her parents into an alliance/complacency and
b) Possibly marry her as she was, historically, considered very beautiful but also like one third his age.
There was talk of a sending her to a nunnery, but the more obsessed Henry became with her prior to their marriage, the more seriously the court considered assassinating her (as she was not considered fit to be queen).
It did not help that during that pre-marriage time period her mother passed, and her political power was suddenly diminished-hence she lacked the protection necessary to force the king into sending her back home. So Catherine of Aragon was completely alone, defenseless, with no allies and no power of her own. Even if she had tried to brave her way back home, she was facing a very possible execution back at home as her sister and current queen of Castilla hated her and had gone mad. Her only options were to either stay in England and play nice with the King in hopes of not getting killed, or go home and definitely get herself murdered.
It was a lose-lose situation for her. Henry was the only one that offered her a modicum of protection-protection that (especially on the early years of their marriage!) she could not afford to lose.
