A little fan theory:
On the "candy store" harmony, Heather Mac singing the high harmony symbolizes the amount of stress/pressure she has to take to be part of the Heathers. The stress is on her, which is why she has to sing the high harmony, which is the most stressful. Heather Duke sings the low harmony because she will always be below Heather Chandler, so it symbolizes her status in the Heathers and in Westerburg as a whole. Finally, Heather Chandler sings the melody because she is the center of attention, the face of the Heathers, so she obviously gets the most important harmony.

This is why I feel that Heathers should be an animation movie or series, it's just the perfect way to tell the story and flesh out the characters without having to take out the songs.
Feel the exact same, these animations have proven that to me.
I know this is late but Heathers the Musical was based on a movie also called Heathers. Personally I like the musical better though, especially with JDs character. He feels more like a tragic character that had horrible things drive him down the wrong path, and who genuinely cares for Veronica. But anyways, I still agree tho there technically is a movie.
@@CrazyNaturekitty I know of the movie and seen it. I like it but enjoy the musical more. Really would like a Heathers or Heathers esque animated show which picks up Sawyer's story in college, where she now had to deal with the supernatural ( i.e. the ghosts of those who died at Sherwood). Also this might be the sentimentalist in me, but I'd like to see redemption for these ghosts and maybe even be resurrected in some fashion.
A "Heathers" animated movie or cartoon would be just right for primetime tv. Like on an adult animation block all things considered.

Don't mean to out myself, but I've read many incredible Heathers fanfics, including several with supernatural elements ( Veronica interacting with the ghosts in college as one premise I Remember). I wholeheartedly agree that Heathers animated would certainly fill a niche for adult animation that can be creatively done but not relying on it being the bog standard comedy genre.

You can see at 5:04 the last frames flashes though, McNamara has lines illustrating her crying with pills in her hands, Duke has devil horns and an evil grin, Chandler's eyes are crossed out and you can see traces of the wiper fliud, and Veronica has a guilt look and a red gun scribbled in her hand. The foreshadowing is real!

3:34 I haven't seen anyone mention this yet! We can see glimpses of Martha wearing a "Heathers" uniform, and right after we see Veronica in her outfit before the Heathers gave her a makeover. Super neat details! Love the art style!

When she is choosing between the chips and the lollipop and drops the bag it symbolizes her choice between the heathers and Martha bc that was the snack she was given at the beginning when heather C. was referring to Veronica going back to being a loser and throughout the animatic she’s clutching onto the chips showing she’s protecting her friend while the heathers try to offer her a lollipop over the chips and eventually she gives in and takes the lollipop while dropping the chips! (Sry I just love that symbolism so much)
Plot Twist: Nerd boy is actually JD in disguise and he quickly swaps clothes time to time.

Things I love about this animatic cover:
- Passive-Aggressive Heather Chandler ("shut up heather 😒")
- The creative liberation (the Heathers wearing candy store attire and wielding candy store canes)
- The symbolism though! Veronica is given the choice of living the sweet life with the Heathers or going back to being salty by herself (hence the lollipop and chips which was pretty obvious).
-Morci imitation of Veronica's signature laugh X)
-I love the fact you add the background characters and give them original sub-plots that weren't in the original (ex.The headband girl with Martha and the nerd being pretty good friends with Veronica. Also ,unrelated, in your Hamilton animatics I noticed Peggy was starting to develop a crush on Laurens which was a cute detail cause it's pointing out Jazmine and Anthony's relationship).
-The ending with the foreshadowing
-Heather McNamara hinting that she thought Ram and Martha were cute together at first and then quickly covering it up by saying "It was disgusting".

Laurens didn't really take interest in women and his father assumed that he was just focused on his studies. He did have a wife but he only married out of pity because he accidentally got her pregnant while he was drunk. There could be a chance he was bi but I'm 99.9% sure he's gay.
I just mentioned the Peggy liking Laurens detail in Morci's animatics because the actor and actress who played Peggy and Laurens are engaged in real life.

•ok, idk how to describe it but you actually feel like Veronica doesn't want to really join on them bullying Martha or pick on her bff; or like she still feels the guilt when they bully Martha
•there was a scene where a girl bumps into another girl (and I thinkthe girl likes her) and the girl's book was on the floor and they grabbed it and the girl was flustered

we can appreciate how in the minute 1:35 - 1:42 Kurt tries to hide that he had a college announcement and gets nervous as he hides it
Or the little interactions between Kurt and Heather M? like at minute 1:43-1:44 where they greet each other or at minutes 2:32 and 3:03 where he looks at her blushing with a small smile? now i ship them

Oh my god. Ram staring at Martha from across the room while Kurt reads a Law School pamphlet behind a porno mag. My heart is in PAIN. This is an indescribably good animatic that just nails every detail. Take my like and my subscription and my tears.
Honestly it actually manages to make Kurt and Ram weirdly tragic.
Like, yeah they're gross perverted assholes...but they probably wouldn't have stayed that way if they had the chance. Maybe Ram _could_ have ended up being all like "Fuck popularity" and started being nice to Martha again. Maybe Kurt _could_ have had a successful career.
-Or maybe Ram and Martha could've ended up in a high school romance that ends after a week while Lawyer!Kurt goes to jail for inappropriate conduct with a client or employee; it could've gone either way, honestly-
@Lord darkness Logon I agree 100%. It’s not like the staring at Martha thing is something that Morci made up solely for the animatic. In the original production, if you pay attention to Ram when he’s in the background of a scene that also includes Martha, he tends to be looking at her. Take Candy Store, for example. After Heather Duke slips Martha the forged note, Ram’s eyes stay on her (while Kurt’s keep following the Heathers). Remember, he thinks the note is medical advice about her mensural cycle. He has no reason to be looking for her reaction to anything. And yet, when she finishes reading the note, looks around for him, and meets his gaze- she gives him a bright smile and an enthusiastic wave. He hesitates a split second as if gaging his reaction, but then nods back at her. She breaks eye contact with him and starts trying to get Veronica’s attention. He stares at her just a few seconds longer before turning to talk to Kurt. It’s only after Martha exits stage left that Ram turns his attention back to the Heathers. And, on top of that, not once in the entire musical does he refer to her as “Martha Dumptruck”. In fact, he is the only person outside of Veronica who blatantly does not. Even when he’s belligerently drunk at his homecoming party- making a complete ass of himself with the Heathers and Veronica- he maintains a level of decency with Martha. He was about to kick some Freshman ass because they snuck in uninvited, but when Martha shows up with no invite he just sorta acts like she belongs there anyway. As opposed to Kurt, who displays very hostile body language every time he notices her at the party. And, as a side note, during the whole piñata bit- if you watch Ram- he’s extremely suspicious and unenthusiastic about what the Heathers are plotting. When Heather Mac picks Martha out, he never joins the chanting and only starts lamely pumping his fist after Kurt looks at him. Even that he stops immediately after seeing the “upgraded” pig piñata. The show is absolutely littered with little acting moments that speak a thousand words like these. I think it’s fairly easy to put up the argument that Ram very much had romantic feelings for Martha. In fact, I think his love for her is an important humanizing aspect of his character. I just don’t think a ton of people pay attention to the low key details like that. I think it’s kinda the representation that as she joins the Heathers, she’s leaving Jamie (the nerd who likes her in both animatics) behind her and someone else who likes her - someone more “acceptable” - is stepping up. Before, Jamie handed her back her diary (twice). Now, JD is in that role.

Yeeeeees more of the Nerd Squad they were talking about their lunches and aaaaa- I heart Stoner Girl, Pervert Guy, Jamie, and Martha also whomst was that girl that talked to Martha and bumped into Stoner Girl I must know 👀 (I am too obsessed help) and I like how you added in the chips as the Nerd Squad and then the lollipop as the Heathers that was a cool visual touch, as well as the touch where Ram was originally looking at Martha until Heather called out his name, that was really cool too, and seeing what Kurt was actually reading was also a nice touch, giving examples to show how he’s actually really smart but covers it up, mwah perfection, also the way “Shut up Heather” was phrased was just the best thing ever
Over all extremely cool and I loved it

Or the animatic, the pretty art-style, the visuals that were so on-point, also camp in a few places but fitting nevertheless, like the chorus of the second stanza 3:52-4:05 with the Heathers in the performance outfit? The details like how Ram could still have a thing for Martha and Kurt is looking up law universities but pretends to be reading a playboy magazine? Or how each of the 593 frames are spot on wrt to the feel of the song and the essence of these characters?
Or should I talk about the INSANE vocals? Especially the voice of Heather Chandler at 4:42-4:49 combined with THOSE frames?
Or the flash foreshadowing at 5:05?

Especially since in the Beautiful animatic, Kurt flashes between himself and a stereotypical nerd; so it might mean that he’s insecure about anyone finding out he’s not the jock he seems to be, which gives him some nice depth!

Can I just say everyone voicing the characters and singing did an amazing job! Very talented!
I've never seen someone do their own interpretation of a musical with their animatics like you have, it's incredible. The way Heather M seems to add on "it was gross" to appease Heather, Ram looking at Martha, Kurt with the university pamphlet, nerd boy's existence as a character, it's all so fresh and different.
This is the perfect comment to describe Morci’s Heathers animatics. She has her own interpretation of the musical, she adds a lot of details that makes these all _hers._ I dream of making animatics for a fandom one day, I hope I can add my own unique interpretation, details and side stories to them like how Morci does here, genuinely.

i love this animatic in general and also the person who did the german translation for this, for translating ‘you can fly with eagles’ as ‘du kannst mit Igeln fliegen’ (you can fly with hedgehogs). igel and eagle sound the exact same, so this is a beautifully nonsensical bilingual pun, sung by Heather C of all people. i love it so much.

5:05 I just realised that she drew them on how they turn our, heather (far left) i crying like in how she almost died but was saved by Veronica, heather (middle left) horns and a creepy grin because of her over need to be powerful not to mention the red crunchy in her hair, Heather (middle right) shows her death from Veronica later on and lastly Veronica (far right) shows her holding a guns implying shes going to kill someone in the future. This is amazing detail to the story and you deserve so many more views, keep up the good work
