The whole thing is the story of Veronica gaining the courage it takes to stick to her convictions and damn the consequences. Which is what she needs to do in order to become the good person she thought she was in the beginning. It really is thoughtful character development.

I like how Veronica is always in closed poses - her arms are close to her body, shoulders are higher than in a fully relaxed position, the body language is great in this. Also when she gets a makeover by the Heathers she is still closed, but opens a little and does lots of wide arm moves, but still returns to the closed poses because she's still used to it

Honestly i imagine veronica staying single again for the rest of her life. It hard to move on after something like that. It leaves trauma. She probably had too- *adopt janis ;)*
Things I noticed in this animatic (a work in progress): 1. The picture of Veronica and her classmates/friends at 0:21 was taken in 1979, 10 years before the musical takes place. 2. Veronica’s memories from around that same time (like the tag game) turn from a happy past to a sad present (getting shoved by the same kid she played tag with 10 years prior) 3. The soft blue-purple light that surrounds Veronica as she sings about beautiful life shares space with kids beating each other up. 4. As we see later, Nerd boy likes Veronica A LOT, but if you look at 1:26, there are some jocks behind Veronica whispering to each other, probably about the exchange taking place. 5. 1:31, the hot girl and the disabled girl are yelling insults at each other, even though they are both treated like scum. Much like the guy in front and the girl in the back (in front of Veronica) 6. 1:54 is a frame from the explosion that killed JD… 7. 2:07 Ram does this in the… slime tutorial, too. 8. Sweet nerd boy, pt. 1 (2:38, someone has a crush on a certain girl!) 9. 3:19-3:40 The blacked out forms of the characters tell their stories, along with their lyrics. Here’s my analysis: Nerd boy: Picked on by his peers for being nerdy Quiet girl: Victim of abuse Kurt: Was probably a nerd, like nerd boy, but joined football to escape the taunting And we know Martha and Ram’s story. 10. 3:35 “send me a sign god” “GOD” Our love is god. The sign is JD. That’s not a good thing. 11. Whenever the Heathers enter, the lighting matches the color they wear in the musical. Veronica’s blue is added at the end of the song. 12. 4:30 is how everyone sees Heather. 4:34 is how Veronica sees her. 13. 4:45-5:05 The “nerds” talking about what they want with the Heathers, such as getting noticed by guys while they hang out with them, being like them, for them to be nicer, and what that other kid wanted… 14. Chandler and Duke laugh at 6:01. McNamara laughs at 6:02. 15. 6:27. God, help this poor unfortunate soul. 16. 6:54. Quiet girl from earlier looks a lot more upset at being touched the the other nerd boy. 6:55, it looks like she’s being comforted by her friend. History of being abused confirmed? 17. One of the strugglers at 7:00 is revealed to be Ms. Fleming. Go listen to shine a light and you’ll know what I mean. 18. Quiet girl and Goth girl look shocked to see Veronica after holding up those trays for just the Heathers since freshman year probably, maybe even longer. 19. Nerd boy pt.2. I don’t think he likes who Veronica has be come… And last but not least… yes it is cuz I didn’t try hard for this one… 20. The main five people in this animatic. Except for JD. But he’s the antagonist/love interest. So he’s still, there. Thanks for reading my rant, if you got this far. Most of these details I picked up from other comments, but I noticed some others, too.

I feel like the scene at 8:09 has some symbolism Bottom two are the crushes (either crushing on Veronica or Veronica crushes on) The best friends (Heather C being Veronica’s new “best friend”, and Martha being Veronica’s old best friend) And then Veronica herself. The center of it all
something else that's interesting: on her left are veronica's positive influences, while on her right are her negative influences. this sort of implies that veronica will be listen more to JD and heather c (the bad).
i loooove the details! my favourite one is that when veronica explains that Kurt Kelly is "The smartest guy on the football team." (2:52) And when you see the "Why?" part (3:20), you see that Kurt used to be a nerd who probably was bullied, explaining why he's not only the smartest on the team, but ALSO why he got into football in the first place, as a way to avoid getting bullied again. Which again is why he probably bullied Martha. Absolutely amazing! keep it up!!
I saw the musical on the West End, there’s a scene just before Big Fun where Kurt and Ram’s dads leave to go on a fishing trip and leave the house to their boys, and Kurt’s dad calls him a pansy and grabs him in a headlock, and it’s not played for laughs - rather, it’s not hard to see where Kurt got his bullying behaviour from
And I think that Ram (3:27), according to this video, actually has sympathy. Him asking himself, "Why did I hit him?" Shows that he is also one of the kids in Westerburg going through problems. You can also see a red heart through Ram's hand. Also, the scene after that (3:28) shows Ram and Martha getting separated. I think this is a reference to when Ram and Martha were in kindergarten, and Ram kissed Martha, but distanced himself away from that moment ever since.
The way the nerd boy blushed at Veronica but didn't blush when she became "beautiful" was a nice touch. It just shows how he loved her for her and nothing else (CAN WE GET VERONICA THIS NERD DUDE LIKE... RIGHT NOW?!)
At 3:29 I love how Ram and Martha are being pulled away from each other, Kind of like Ram does like her but doesn’t want to get made fun of for it, that or I’m just looking too much into it but I just love that detail!

The level of detail in this is incredible! As well as the beautiful frickin’ art and the details throughout like the fluidity of everyone’s facial expressions and body language as they react to everyone else, some things I especially love are: -The intro cards, framed as candid closeup snapshots. Specifically how Heather Chandler’s card changes with even the font becoming a big, angry scrawl at “She is a MYTHIC BITCH”, and Veronica only getting her own intro when she joins the Heathers and thinks she’s consequential. Like only now does she believe herself to be an active character in the story (even qualified to be the protagonist), rather than a passive observer. -The flashback parallels. A “Tag, you’re it!” push as kids is replaced by a push of pure cruelty as teens. Girls who help and comfort Veronica as kids insult her as teens. -The derogatory terms applied to the kids consuming their identities in the photo, seen later in the “Why?” bridge section. -Oh yeah! The entire “Why?” bride section. MY GOD IT’S BEAUTIFUL! And so, so sad, PLEASE GET THESE CHILDREN FRIENDSHIP AND THERAPY!!! -I know this falls under the last point, but Ram and Martha being chained and pulled apart by social expectations, both heartbroken in their own way. Also “Why don’t I fight back?” and “Somebody fix me” killed me. -All the moments where we see the bullies are hurting too. Not just Kurt and Ram, but everyone who hurts someone else. In particular the disabled girl (who has to deal with ableist discrimination and degradation on top of sexism) and the ‘hot’ girl (who has to deal with sexism and constant objectification and degradation because of gender and sexual biases) insulting each other in turn, showing perfectly how people who should be supporting, defending and leaning on each other are instead divided by the community’s toxic attitudes and their insecurities. -First chorus: Veronica appears to be unique and isolated in her idealism, demonstrated by her seemingly unappreciated gesture of kindness, and so sings alone. Second chorus: the other students all sing along with her and the nerd boy returns her kindness, presumably emboldened to do it by her. She’s not alone. None of these aching, desperate, miserable kids have to be alone. Final chorus: Veronica loses her diary and the need boy picks it up again, like the last chorus, but this time the chain of kindness is severed, since she’s too swept up in the thrill of her newfound popularity to notice or care. Such good character and arc establishment in just this sequence of events. -The foreshadowing flashes of JD. First at the line “Send me a sign, God”; fitting because he’s currently adrift in despair and finding no meaning in anything. He’ll later declare his love for Veronica “God” and use it to justify murder. Not… not the right sign there, JD. Then he’s seen when Veronica becomes socially significant, which leads to them meeting.
i love the attention to detail!! at 5:58 when McNamara is paying attention to veronica as Duke and Chandler are smirking at each other, and how she only joins in laughing when she noticed them laughing. Foreshadowing at its finest I'm in LOVE
The character designs here were so well done! I can’t imagine how much time and talent went into this! I’d say my favorite parts were 0:26 with the transitions between past and present, and the small detail at 6:00 when Heather McNamara was slower to join in on the laughter, showing that she was just following her friends and wasn’t that bad on her own. Overall, beautiful animatic!

the saddest thing is the fact that the "why do they hate me?" guy with the glasses loves veronica for what she really is, and they still couldn't manage to get together because of how much veronica's ego gets boosted when she becomes "beautiful". she kinda lost sight of what was really important and wouldn't have dated that guy at all … his appereance makes me think about freeze your brain, one of jd's lines, "you're planning your future, veronica sawyer. you'll go to some college and marry a lawyer" which is a perfectly sane image of her future, except she would've chosen jd anyway because "the sky's gonna hurt when it falls" and if she chose thay guy she would've felt like she didn't get what she really deserved …
At 8:09 I love how you drew JD. I'm sorry, but I LOVE when animators and little background images of JD before he actually shows up. Also, I love your art style.
at 8:14, i think the colors chosen are a nice touch. pink and yellow are usually perceived as soft or happy colors, and red and green are usually used when referring to something evil or poisonous. blue is neutral when it comes to being a “good or evil” color, and that’s why veronica is tinted with blue and the two sides with the other colors. i don’t even know if that was intentional but just something i noticed lmfao.
Red = Scandal, Gossip and famously rage (Heather C was somewhat hot-tempered), Green = Jealousy + Envy (Heather D is jealous of Heather C’s power + popularity as queen bee), and like you said yellow = Happiness, Innocence
Technically she didn't kill four people. JD killed them for her. She mixed up the cups by accident and JD didn't want to tell her. JD killed Kurt and Ram. JD killed himself so, I guess she did kill Chandler but by accident

I LOVE THIS!!! The idea and image of JD as well being a faceless character til the end frame. All other scenes with him never showed his face. It was either the POV to have his head off screen or showing JD's back. I love that because he WAS the quiet kid. He wasn't known or talked to/about.

I actually can't get over this art style and the smooth animation and the shots and just fdsbhjkbas -Heather M. is just so innocent and cute in this. the smile is just adorable, and in this animatic she reminds me of Ty Lee from ATLA. -Contrary to McNamara, Heather Duke is looks kinda grumpy, and Chandler smiles, but it's very clear that it's not as innocent as McNamara's. It's just an amazing job of portraying their characters. -the little flashbacks to when they were kids!!
My god, the attention to detail in this is insane. Like, the girl from 3:22 seems like she was sexualy assaulted or something, and then later at 6:51 when both of them are telling the chubby dude off she's shaking and her friend comfort her. I've never seen this kind of depth given to backround characters ever. You gave them a history in the little time they had and it's just...wow.
This is two years old but it’s still one of my favorite animatics to watch, the way you can see the surroundings and each expressions and even the way the artist displays the characters info in the video proves this artist has dedication and creativity. I love this artist’s ability to make it look like more than a musical animatic. (Sorry if my grammar sounds funny.. lol.)

Things I noticed in this animatic (a work in progress):
1. The picture of Veronica and her classmates/friends at 0:21 was taken in 1979, 10 years before the musical takes place.
2. Veronica’s memories from around that same time (like the tag game) turn from a happy past to a sad present (getting shoved by the same kid she played tag with 10 years prior)
3. The soft blue-purple light that surrounds Veronica as she sings about beautiful life shares space with kids beating each other up.
4. As we see later, Nerd boy likes Veronica A LOT, but if you look at 1:26, there are some jocks behind Veronica whispering to each other, probably about the exchange taking place.
5. 1:31, the hot girl and the disabled girl are yelling insults at each other, even though they are both treated like scum. Much like the guy in front and the girl in the back (in front of Veronica)
6. 1:54 is a frame from the explosion that killed JD…
7. 2:07 Ram does this in the… slime tutorial, too.
8. Sweet nerd boy, pt. 1 (2:38, someone has a crush on a certain girl!)
9. 3:19-3:40 The blacked out forms of the characters tell their stories, along with their lyrics. Here’s my analysis:

And we know Martha and Ram’s story.

And when you see the "Why?" part (3:20), you see that Kurt used to be a nerd who probably was bullied, explaining why he's not only the smartest on the team, but ALSO why he got into football in the first place, as a way to avoid getting bullied again. Which again is why he probably bullied Martha.

I saw the musical on the West End, there’s a scene just before Big Fun where Kurt and Ram’s dads leave to go on a fishing trip and leave the house to their boys, and Kurt’s dad calls him a pansy and grabs him in a headlock, and it’s not played for laughs - rather, it’s not hard to see where Kurt got his bullying behaviour from

And I think that Ram (3:27), according to this video, actually has sympathy. Him asking himself, "Why did I hit him?" Shows that he is also one of the kids in Westerburg going through problems. You can also see a red heart through Ram's hand. Also, the scene after that (3:28) shows Ram and Martha getting separated. I think this is a reference to when Ram and Martha were in kindergarten, and Ram kissed Martha, but distanced himself away from that moment ever since.
The way the nerd boy blushed at Veronica but didn't blush when she became "beautiful" was a nice touch. It just shows how he loved her for her and nothing else (CAN WE GET VERONICA THIS NERD DUDE LIKE... RIGHT NOW?!)

The level of detail in this is incredible! As well as the beautiful frickin’ art and the details throughout like the fluidity of everyone’s facial expressions and body language as they react to everyone else, some things I especially love are:
-The intro cards, framed as candid closeup snapshots. Specifically how Heather Chandler’s card changes with even the font becoming a big, angry scrawl at “She is a MYTHIC BITCH”, and Veronica only getting her own intro when she joins the Heathers and thinks she’s consequential. Like only now does she believe herself to be an active character in the story (even qualified to be the protagonist), rather than a passive observer.
-The flashback parallels. A “Tag, you’re it!” push as kids is replaced by a push of pure cruelty as teens. Girls who help and comfort Veronica as kids insult her as teens.
-The derogatory terms applied to the kids consuming their identities in the photo, seen later in the “Why?” bridge section.
-Oh yeah! The entire “Why?” bride section. MY GOD IT’S BEAUTIFUL! And so, so sad, PLEASE GET THESE CHILDREN FRIENDSHIP AND THERAPY!!!
-I know this falls under the last point, but Ram and Martha being chained and pulled apart by social expectations, both heartbroken in their own way. Also “Why don’t I fight back?” and “Somebody fix me” killed me.
-All the moments where we see the bullies are hurting too. Not just Kurt and Ram, but everyone who hurts someone else. In particular the disabled girl (who has to deal with ableist discrimination and degradation on top of sexism) and the ‘hot’ girl (who has to deal with sexism and constant objectification and degradation because of gender and sexual biases) insulting each other in turn, showing perfectly how people who should be supporting, defending and leaning on each other are instead divided by the community’s toxic attitudes and their insecurities.
-First chorus: Veronica appears to be unique and isolated in her idealism, demonstrated by her seemingly unappreciated gesture of kindness, and so sings alone. Second chorus: the other students all sing along with her and the nerd boy returns her kindness, presumably emboldened to do it by her. She’s not alone. None of these aching, desperate, miserable kids have to be alone. Final chorus: Veronica loses her diary and the need boy picks it up again, like the last chorus, but this time the chain of kindness is severed, since she’s too swept up in the thrill of her newfound popularity to notice or care. Such good character and arc establishment in just this sequence of events.
-The foreshadowing flashes of JD. First at the line “Send me a sign, God”; fitting because he’s currently adrift in despair and finding no meaning in anything. He’ll later declare his love for Veronica “God” and use it to justify murder. Not… not the right sign there, JD. Then he’s seen when Veronica becomes socially significant, which leads to them meeting.

The character designs here were so well done! I can’t imagine how much time and talent went into this! I’d say my favorite parts were 0:26 with the transitions between past and present, and the small detail at 6:00 when Heather McNamara was slower to join in on the laughter, showing that she was just following her friends and wasn’t that bad on her own. Overall, beautiful animatic!

at 8:14, i think the colors chosen are a nice touch. pink and yellow are usually perceived as soft or happy colors, and red and green are usually used when referring to something evil or poisonous. blue is neutral when it comes to being a “good or evil” color, and that’s why veronica is tinted with blue and the two sides with the other colors. i don’t even know if that was intentional but just something i noticed lmfao.

-Contrary to McNamara, Heather Duke is looks kinda grumpy, and Chandler smiles, but it's very clear that it's not as innocent as McNamara's. It's just an amazing job of portraying their characters.

My god, the attention to detail in this is insane. Like, the girl from 3:22 seems like she was sexualy assaulted or something, and then later at 6:51 when both of them are telling the chubby dude off she's shaking and her friend comfort her. I've never seen this kind of depth given to backround characters ever. You gave them a history in the little time they had and it's just...wow.

This is two years old but it’s still one of my favorite animatics to watch, the way you can see the surroundings and each expressions and even the way the artist displays the characters info in the video proves this artist has dedication and creativity. I love this artist’s ability to make it look like more than a musical animatic.
