Now I am thinking of buying another CPE510 and use it as repeater to bypass the trees. My question is. Is the repeater mode in therms of transmission power and not bandwidth as good as a AP? There is no such thing as POE Ethernet cable. Its just a regular Ethernet cable that power is transmitted down as well. The Ethernet Port does have to be POE capable though. Yes that should not be a problem. even on the CPE210 the max range is 5km which is about 3.14 miles. You will need two units though. One at the source and in AP mode and the other at the remote location in Client mode. You will need clear line of sight as these models are all directional based antennas.

Im an total newbie, and non native english speaker, so please excuse me! Thanks!
for only 40 meters i would not recommend the CPE210. I would suggest an EAP225-outdoor. the benefit is that it is omni-directional, has a greater beamwidth so clients can actually connect to it and has a range of up to 150 meters for just one device. It would be the best choice by far in this situation.
Its simple that would connect to a client device. A PC, an AP, a router, etc. Most would use an AP or router so that multiple clients at the client side can access
what is the allowed distance between the TPlink CPE and the PoE adapter? is there also a limit on the distance between router port and the PoE adapter? or are this the normal 100 meter limits of ethernet?
@@TPLINKTECH thanks but a follow up question arrise then, is the ethernet segment from the router, over the PoE adapter to the device or are these 2 segments (1 segment from router to PoE adapter and 2nd segment from PoE to device. The reason for this question is that I would need to travers first an area without line of sight and then the radio part which has line of sight. The first past is most probable just over 100 meters
@@a320homecockpit You shouldn't have a problem with that as long as the injector is at a location where power can be added. the 2nd segment, ethernet to camera would then have the POE power added to it.
In Client mode think of the CPE as a modem. You would need to connect it to a Router or AP in the Client location to provide that area with the service it receives.
Can i use the cpe510 in AP Client Router (WISP Client) mode and connect it to an archer a10 in (Router Mode)? I then want to connect an (AP) or wireless router to the cpe510 so I have an omnidirectional antenna for all my devices at the second location.
The two devices would need to be in line of sight and the beamwidth for that to work. The CPE510 has a very narrow beamwidth. However the EAP225-Outdoor may be a better product for your needs. Its an outdoor Omni-directional AP with a maximum range of 150 Meters.
Can I set this up with 3 CPE210 devices. One AP mode, and the other 2 in client mode both set up identical (different device IPs)? They will both be within cone of the AP.
Yes as long at the 2 clients are in line of sight and the beamwidth of the AP. The two clients would then operate like an network adapter on a computer and get an individual IP address. the clients then can each be setup to a separate WAP and provide wireless and wired connect to device in their area.
Hi, I'm trying to extend the wifi coverage for a hotel on a budget and I'm wondering if this setup will work: Internet----->Router------>CPE-510---------------->CPE510------>Router------>Access point Router: TL-R480T+ Access point: EAP-220 The hotel has two buildings that is difficult to reach with just ethernet cables hence the CPE. I'm also wondering if you still need a router after the client side CPE or will a switch suffice? Note: More access points and switches will be added to each router once I get it working.
Juan, did you need a second router? Wouldn't the client side CPE plug into a POE switch, and you can plug the EAP-220 into another port of the POE switch? At least that's how I hope it works.
One thing you can consider is to use the CPE of the 2nd building in its "AP Client Router" mode so you can have a wifi network there. The "Bridge" or "Extender" modes will also do the same job but in the same network.
these CPEs are long range directional APs. Technically only one in AP mode would be needed but because the azimuth of the signal is very small it is recommended to have 2 that are able to see each other, one in AP and connected to the source of internet and the Other in Client at the receiving end.
How can you set these up to another internet service? I got a new ISP and now I want to disconnect my CPE210s from my old internet so I can use it with my new internet.
It really depends on the configuration. If you have one unit as an AP and the other as a Client then you should only need to connect the AP unit to the new router's LAN and that's it.
I think I have them set up as client and AP.....TP-Link helped me set them up the first time. I have one connected to the old modem router and it sends a signal to the one I have about 150 feet away at the garage. Then a seperate modem inside the shop lets me have internet in the garage.

No likely. This is a long distance point to point AP. It has a very narrow line of sight. Unless your cell phone is in direct line of sight you will not see the signal.

I want to have one in my main building that is used only to communicate with the second, and the second in my outbuilding and running a wireless access point. Can you point me toward documentation that can explain that? The mode descriptions don't seem to be looking at things from the angle I am.
Unit at the main set in AP mode. Remote unit set in Client mode. units must have clear line of sight and be within each other's beam width. If the distance is 150 meters or less consider using a EAP225-Outdoor. you would only need one then.

ok so I put the ethernet cable in my routers Lan port then I connect the ethernet cable to the tp link. But what port do I connect that ethernet cable on the tp-link. to get the internet.
For CPE systems that is very difficult to do. It's not like an Omnidirectional low-power system that is easily influenced but other systems in the area. These systems are high power and very line of sight. The main interference factor is if something obscures the line of sight of the system.

I'm no expert but basically yes. You can select Range Extender, Access Point, or Bridge based on your needs and connect devices compatible with 5ghz wifi (like most phones and computers.) Keep in mind that this is a very directional signal, it's not going to be well suited for "moving targets." If you want the same signal in your garage as in your home look at Deco and pair it with a Deco X50-Outdoor. That should accomplish your needs.
Does the AP have to stay connected to a computer or can it operate wirelessly after the setup of it and the client?
The AP will need to physically stay connected to the router or switch via Ethernet cable

Hi, I have a question regarding my setup. Now I own 2 CPE510. I have tried them but the signal is not strong enough to go through trees at a distance of 1.2 km. Now I am thinking of buying another CPE510 and use it as repeater to bypass the trees. My question is.
Is the repeater mode in therms of transmission power and not bandwidth as good as a AP?
Thank you in advance.
Is it possible to use a normal router as the AP and a single CPE 210 as the client?
No, the reason is that the CPE210 has a very small azimuth that requires unobstructed line of sight. You would need to have two units one as the AP and one as the Client.
nice,wo love TP-LINK,
can the "client" CPE210 connect to the distant LAN network through RJ45 jack and make 2 different networks one as if they are physically connected?
Client will not create a network. instead you would be able to physically connect a ethernet based AP or router.
Will this be able to pass through some buildings? Not to tall around 5 floor only and my plan for antenna is on 2nd floor
No. Open line of sight is required.
I just bought the device dec and there is no Poe ethernet cable to connect between the Poe adapter and the device from the inside of the box. Do I have a color sequence of this cable, if I do it myself, I have knowledge of the cable ethernet.
There is no such thing as POE Ethernet cable. Its just a regular Ethernet cable that power is transmitted down as well. The Ethernet Port does have to be POE capable though. With this device if there is no Ethernet cable any one you have available will work. I recommend Cat5e and up though for gigabit connection capablities

To do the point to point it is necessary that the access point are the same, or can do it of TPLINK WA52105 to TL-TL-WA7210N.
Thanks You!
nobody knows?
Can I used this device to connect to a wifi network that is 1/2 mile away. Trying to cut down on my expenses. Thanks
Yes that should not be a problem. even on the CPE210 the max range is 5km which is about 3.14 miles. You will need two units though. One at the source and in AP mode and the other at the remote location in Client mode. You will need clear line of sight as these models are all directional based antennas.
Hello
If I use the Access Point TP-LINK TL-WA801ND_V1 Wireless N300 and use a 2400 WiFi parabolic dish instead of the Omni Directional Antenna, how far can I get the frequency 100% without loss of quality ? ? ?
For outdoor long range point to point use.
Can't answer that because that is outside of the products intended use. the WA801ND is an indoor AP not an outdoor one. also the antenna are bound to each other so all antenna have to be the same.
I have installed two CPE510 units they connect fine and i have good signal strength. If i send data over the link it works fine but if there is a period of inactivity the link seems to stop working and i have to reboot one of the CPE's. After doing this the link works again until the next period of inactivity. Every morning I need to reboot. Do the units have some sort of sleep mode. Please help.
Honestly not sure on that one. You can email our business support at support.smb@tp-link.com and they will be able to tell you.
That's happening when the (DFS) Dynamic Frequency Selection, on 5 GHz, is active. DFS is prioritizing military radar, satellite communication, and weather radar.
That means that your link will disconnect between 1-10 minutes if it will find a military radar, satellite communication, and weather radar use in you neighboorhood.
The sellers of 5 GHz links, as TP-Link, are talking quietly about this. I had to learn it the hard way.
When I connect a device to the client device do I need to configure it for a static IP in the client menu of I wish?
You can but its not nessasry as long as DHCP is enabled on the AP side where the service and router exist. If that router however requires static IPs to be set up then yes you would.
hi can use CPE 220 AND CPE 510? AS AP AND CLIENT ?
No. The CPE210 is 2.4 GHz and the CPE510 is 5 GHz. They can't communicate with each other.

Is a second CPE necessary for an short distance of 40 Meters?
I've bought two CPE210, to build a PTP Connection from my main house to my garden house.

Could I leave off the "garden house" CPE and the router, i planed to install there?
What are the pro and cons, to build a PTP versus only one Access Point?
Im an total newbie, and non native english speaker, so please excuse me!
Thanks!
for only 40 meters i would not recommend the CPE210. I would suggest an EAP225-outdoor. the benefit is that it is omni-directional, has a greater beamwidth so clients can actually connect to it and has a range of up to 150 meters for just one device. It would be the best choice by far in this situation.
@@TPLINKTECH Thank you for your advice! Really appreciate it, and your great products!

where does the line on the client connected to? Please show where the lines goes on the client side. Thanks
As far as we know the limits are that of the Ethernet segment.
Hi, after setting up client device, is it still need LAN cable connect in client device?
Hello brother I have a totolink cp900 15km And this tp-link cpe-520 each other will find the wi-fi signal can be connected
What is the range on these devices? I'm looking into it myself but I need to cover a area from point to point.
depends on model. Generally speaking its any where between 10 and 15 KM
@@TPLINKTECH Straight line to site correct? What about through tress?no buildings or hills anything like that just trees?
@@DiyintheGhetto Yes Straight Line of Sight with no obstructions.
Any reason why I can't use just one of these to connect to an existing wifi network? Want to extend my neighbors starlink to mine
Because they are Line of sight directional. The source and clients all would need to be within the azimuth of the CPE, which is very narrow.
If between two houses we have a big house can connection get through?
not likely. CPEs need a direction and clear line of sight with each other to properly work.
Hi, I'm trying to extend the wifi coverage for a hotel on a budget and I'm wondering if this setup will work: Internet----->Router------>CPE-510---------------->CPE510------>Router------>Access point
Router: TL-R480T+
Access point: EAP-220
The hotel has two buildings that is difficult to reach with just ethernet cables hence the CPE. I'm also wondering if you still need a router after the client side CPE or will a switch suffice?
Note: More access points and switches will be added to each router once I get it working.
yes
Juan, did you need a second router? Wouldn't the client side CPE plug into a POE switch, and you can plug the EAP-220 into another port of the POE switch? At least that's how I hope it works.
This will work.
THANKS!
One thing you can consider is to use the CPE of the 2nd building in its "AP Client Router" mode so you can have a wifi network there. The "Bridge" or "Extender" modes will also do the same job but in the same network.
Good video with clear, concise instructions for getting this done. Thanks!
is this necessary if it's only an access point setup?
these CPEs are long range directional APs. Technically only one in AP mode would be needed but because the azimuth of the signal is very small it is recommended to have 2 that are able to see each other, one in AP and connected to the source of internet and the Other in Client at the receiving end.

That would be accurate for any open network. You would want to secure your network always. With the CPE however a client would need to have line of sight and be within the beamwidth of the CPE to be able to communicate with it.
