Story 2: Shamelessly committing destruction of property, this is a BOLD Karen. Not to mention walking towards someone with a knife, that could've caught a few more charges
Did the boyfriend hire someone to play mugger so he could pretend to be the big strong hero? That occurred to me because he suddenly suggested a nighttime walk in a bad neighborhood.
I seriously wondered this. And by girlfriend giving up the wallet, boyfriend didn't get the chance to save the day. Who the fuck actually gets a chance to monologue while being mugged? The average mugging takes 20 seconds or less. They tell you to give up what you've got, you give it up and they go, as fast as possible. No mugger hangs around for someone to give their world of cardboard speech 😒
Makes sense, because that would really make the BF upset about how the situation turned out. He was supposed to be the Alpha Male in the situation and the OP didn't play according to the script.
Story 3: I can't imagine being THAT desperate for inheritance money. Not only trying to push for medical-assissted death, but then turning to straight up murder, which I think she would've been easily caught for if she wasn't caught immediately. At least the woman passed peacefully without her psychotic daughter nearby
That parasite is a psychopath. Also, something tells me that even she wasn't coddled she still would have been a narcissist that tried to kill her own mom. Hopefully, she spent time in jail and lost a lot by everyone hearing what she did. My mom's brother tried to put his own mom, forcefully I might add, in a nursing home just to get his hands on my grandmother's money. He cussed my mom out on the phone after finding out we got ahold of Grandma and took her back to Oklahoma with us. After that he kept asking for money from his mom and when she finally told him no, he stopped talking to her, period. Didn't even come to his own mom's funeral saying he was "too busy" with work which the whole family called BS on.
Given the sheer number of true crime cases involving children m----ring their parents for the inheritance, not only can people be this desperate, they are, and more often than we'd like to think.
Story 1 - People who use their own kids like this mom did are the worst scumbags on the planet. My heart goes out to the daughter and I hope that she never ends up like her mom.
Martial artist here: first rule of fighting, if someone pulls a knife, give them the wallet, but not to the hand. OP handled it like a pro. Her boyfriend is a mandchild.
My sensei always says: "if they have a gun, at close range - like, you can grab it rangeg you have a chance to fight. If they have a knife, just run. Because in a fight you will almost always get cut or worse! But if you run, they can't do anything but chase you! Because throwing the knife at you would be dumb on their part"
I'm living in Canada (so, no health bill when you hand up to the hospital). If something like this happen, if I have the choice between a couple hours of calls to fix my stuff vs a couple hours in the hospital (supposing I just get a very minor cut) or couples hour with police and lawers to document my use of force on the guy I beat .... seems for me the choice is easy! It always remember me when I was around 17. There were a girl working at the same grocery as me working at the register. This girl was an A+ at school : smart! After we got a rubber, somebody ask her : "Would you have give him the cash?" and she respond with assurance "NO!!!!" and explain she wouldn't obey to a rubber. She was 16, have no fight hability, pay at minimum salary with an employer that was exploiting us (I mean... they didn't have respect for us at all) and would have protect the 1000$ (if it was a good moment) and put herself in danger.... Smart is a very weird concept.... as it has many facet!!
Fellow Martial Artist who has dealt with many many fights and short story shorter, when I was 11 I did have two other kids come at me with Knives, I got stabbed in the left wrist while disarming them both. I didnt notice until I had a knife there until the adrenaline wore off and left a bloody trail behind me about half a block down a road after I chased them to a house. Courage, Strength and Skill can get you through a fight, but not the wounds yourself or others. Morale of the story is don't try to fight people with knives while unarmed.
I would agree in the case of a gun all the martial arts in the world don't equal a 45. And when you're talking about a knife that's one of the things we train to disarm or to deal with and nearly from the beginning of any martial arts style
A piece of advice I got from a firearms instructor was that, "the winner of a knife fight goes to the hospital too." Avoid the situation if possible. Escape. De-escalate. Fight (last resort)
One of my martial arts instructors over the years is someone who spent 6 years teaching hand-to-hand combat in the U.S. Marines, and he says that if he ever found himself on the receiving end of a mugging, he'd simply hand the mugger his wallet most of the time. About the only time he'd fight back is if he was with someone who he felt was in imminent danger of being harmed in the situation.
Story 2 - OP did the right thing in calling the police and pressing charges against that… woman, all because of a rope swing that her son couldn’t swing on?! And the fact that she confessed to her crime to OP so smugly just shows what kind of a person she is. Disgusting
@@ShadowTaipan you do realize a knife your normally bring usually be plastic or something in case of dumb people that see it and would report for having it out. The fact the k ife she used cut a thick rope that could hold children up
Last story: The fact op never even tried to tell the boyfriend’s mom and friends the truth really shows that she likely never got along with them to begin with.
I used to teach martial arts Hard agree about knife defense. Your goal in those situations isn’t “don’t get cut” - that’s not gonna happen. Your goal is “don’t get cut fatally”
Which is true, but as someone who had to fight against someone else with a knife, there are ways to fight. This whole story honestly just reads as fake, so I'm not even sure what to believe, if anything, about it. If it's true, then the BF is obviously smoking some serious copium. But it honestly reads to me more like he was about to defend his girl and she didn't trust him to do that. Which that lack of trust is incredibly frustrating. The last part of the story is completely delusional, I'm sure some people really do act that way, but it's honestly hard to believe because it's so insane
Well, I wasn't too surprised how that last story played out. Actually, I was wondering if the BF and the "mugger" were cahoots so the BF could look like Superman. "Hey, baby, let's go for a walk at night in our seedy neighborhood, and we'll take our wallets with us. Oh my, it's a mugger! I'll protect you!"
Once I find out my boyfriend has lied about an incident like that I'd be having my phone on record all the time I talk to him because he is a freaking lying, ego, megalomaniac that thinks that he can be Superman.
Well before I got too sick to work target let us discount items to up too 20 percent and call a manger to get permission if you think it needs a discount more than that
Near as I can figure, the logic goes "Well, they know how to use the registers, they must know which buttons to push to give me a discount," not factoring in whether they DESERVE it or not.
My husband constantly talkes about the Tueller drill. Sergeant Dennis Tueller of the Salt Lake City Police Department wondered how quickly an attacker with a knife, or other melee weapon, could cover 21 feet (6.4 m), so he timed volunteers as they raced to stab the target. He determined that it could be done in 1.5 seconds. That’s the threat to a cop carrying a gun!!! A knife is nothing to mess around with and the boyfriend messed around. Thankfully OP was quick thinking or they’d probably both be dead.
Yeah, I've heard of similar as "the 21 foot rule," and it's the idea that in the amount of time it would take you to draw your gun and point it at the average attacker who already has their weapon out and is running at you, said attacker could cover as much as 21 feet. I've also confirmed it with both an ex-Secret Service agent and a martial arts teacher who spent 6 years teaching hand-to-hand combat in the U.S. Marines. (The rule is generally brought up on the idea of showing that guns are not usually the most effective of weapons in most day-to-day self-defense situations.)
Story 2, that cop is AWESOME. It was obvious that he was hoping that op would choose to press charges on the Karen. He showed that he was equally upset at the Karen and I suspect, given it's a small town, it's not the first time she acted like that to anyone. Bet was ghost white when she saw the cop at her door and cried when she got arrested. At least she was smart in avoiding op and op's kids after that.
Story 4: OP isn’t the ahole, but sounds like the BF has a hero complex or feels self-conscious about his protective instincts as a man. That said, fighting man to man is a dumb idea. Utilize your 2A rights instead and get a concealed carry permit so you don’t have to risk your life with muggers. Though gotta admit, BF arguing with the mugger worked since OP was able to save her valuables before tossing her wallet, so his hero complex did accomplish something.
Can't carry everywhere and for good reason if nobody is going to attempt to fix the mental health care of americans, I don't trust anybody who conceal carries a gun in places like wal-mart and shit, and the BF is a dumbass for wanting to go on a night walk in a bad area, just natural selection at that point.
In the Hapkido classes I took, we were taught techniques to use on people wielding knives. Rule number 2 was: if you choose to fight, you will get stabbed so only go with violence if you have no other option. Rule number 1 was: cooperate and do whatever you need to do to remove yourself from the situation with minimal conflict. OP's boyfriend was a complete moron.
That last story just kills me. My husband was an MMA fighter in his younger years. Even in his younger years he was the first one to try to de-escalate things. Many times he has been able to successfully do that. He is the first one to tell my son and I to stay in the house if he thinks we are in danger. Getting psychical should be the last resort. Not the first. And no one should ever try to fight a mugger. Your wallet is not worth your life.
For those who don't know, if you are within 21 feet (~7 meters) of someone with a knife and you have a holstered gun, you will get stabbed before you can draw, aim, and fire the gun. The experiment determining that distance was done with fully trained, equipped, and experienced police officers. Even if you have specialized training in using a gun in close quarters fighting (ex: SOC-P), a knife is still the better weapon to use.
Just replied that on a different comment. Also, it'd be a lame, but very 'me Tarzan, you jane' kind of proposal after he saves her and saves the ring he just happened to have in his pocket.
last story: The BF needs to stop watching super hero movies. Then he threw OP under the bus by lying about EVERYTHING. He wanted to be a super hero in the eyes of his friends and his MOMMY. He needs to grown the f*ck up first and be a MAN. There was NOTHING he could do against a mugger with a knife accept get seriously injured or worse.
@@lancerevell5979except that's not what the story about this story is about a dude with the way overinflated ego as a fucking superhero that was going to get himself killed or his girlfriend killed
I'm 6'3 roughly 300 lb and I can actually handle myself if I have to I'm not going to put myself in a situation with some asshole in a knife not knowing what he's on.
Disclaimer: This is assuming the stories told are truthful. It's always possible one or more details are left out or inaccurate. 1. Shame on the mom for trying to use her kid to scam. Sadly it's not unheard of for parents do to this. Good on the kid for speaking up, though I'm surprised OP didn't call police about it. 2. Her first mistake was destroying someone else's property. Her second mistake was bragging about it thinking she wouldn't get punished. 3. Good riddance to bad rubbish. Hopefully some time in jail will teach her a thing or two about entitlement. 4: "What was I supposed to say?" That the situation only happened because of you & your desire to play the hero rather than lie and pin the blame on someone else. Who cares if it was embarrassing and made you look bad? You're not a Manotaur so grow up. As for being bigger and stronger, that means nothing against a foe with speed and agility who can cut you down before you can get a hit in.
The desperation of some men to prove their manliness is so sad. You have a partner that cares about you and finds your interests endearing, you're already winning bro! Leave the action scenes in the comics.
9:56 👏💯👏 *FINALLY! Someone DID press charges. I am the same way when it comes to my sons.. Do NOT ever come for my boyz, it will not end well for you!*
Story #4 - bf is gonna end up dead trying to act like he’s a superhero. Obviously he was never taught any self defence, he lacks self discipline. Ego will get him hurt.
Last story - I'd run like hell. Boyfriend is delulu, and lives in his own insecure sparkly universe where He Could Rescue Her! She's way better off without him, she'd never know what might make him go off half cocked in the future. They got lucky that time, but the next time somebody might end up in the ER or the morgue.
@@flyer3849 I did not think of it but very well could be true. It be wild and totally crazy. But he is delusional. I am an artist. I pretty good at making things up in books or in my paintings. But in order to make things up and have people buy it or be interested to. You have to live in reality. Know your history to figure out a make belief one. And know that the fictional stuff you watch or read is just that fiction which is a lie you want to hear to get away from truth. Like a vaction from reality. You can not afford vaction all the time. So you have to put it down to live in reality.
Story 4: NTA unless his goal was to get stabbed. One of my foster mother's favourite sayings, when I was growing up was: "I'd rather be a live coward than a de@d hero." I agree.
That woman vandalized their property. She should have had the kid film it as she confronted the woman. Not only THAT, but they should have just demanded they feed her kids since it's not fair your kids have to sit and watch THEM eat! When she says SHE brought the food and they don't know those kids, look at her and say "Exactly. My kids brought that rope and they do not know YOUR kid, so you destroyed their rope and we DEMAND you share your food. It's only FAIR, right?
Story 4: I took 5 years of fencing in college, which ironically, involved a couple lessons of knife fighting and defense. The first thing I was told with it was if defending against a knife, you almost certainly WILL be cut. Can it be done? Yes...but the fact of the matter is, you need specific training to do so. Any law enforcement officer will tell you the first 3 rules of getting robbed is "Give the money over, don't antagonize them, and the money can be replaced, your life can't." Wanting to be a hero is one thing, trying to win a darwin award is another.
Last Story: Ex BF is a complete coward and a danger. Not only did he put OP in danger, he got mad when she didn’t go through with his little fantasy world. Then he was so quick to lie and make OP look bad and delusional as long as HIS image was ok. Not as heroic as he thinks he is, is he?
I have a feeling that money would've been all hers and not spent anything on the kids (maybe just her obvious favorite if she has more than one) she just seems that level of selfish/evil
S1: Let’s not forget that mom did this to her young daughter for HER birthday. She tried to force a food her daughter doesn’t like - pizza - on HER birthday and embarrassed her with no shame. CPS needs to get involved
15:15 the son was probably helping masterminding all of it but wasn't bold enough to show up like the daughter was. Typically they'll team up together and then when they get the money they crumble apart into chaos. I hope she was charged with murder and if they found out I hope he was charged with helping plan it. If it's a country where you can look up records you could look up their names and find out but I know most countries aren't as loose on records of arrests and charges
I remember reading a blog by a defense/fighting instructor, who said that when someone pulls a knife on you, they are willing, if not outright intending, to kill you, so you're better off avoiding a situation like that. BF in this story was a fool.
I once was almost killed because one of my bully in high school, me with a knife to wear my face, and I had to grab the knife by the blade, cutting my hand. It was either hand or losing my eye and rip the knife out of his hands and retaliated. There was so much of my blood on my hand, shirt and on the floor. A few centimeters to the right and I would have lost my thumb. The boy friend doesn’t know what he’s talking about or in how much danger he was.
Story three as soon as I heard the word "praktikum" I already thought "Oh, are they Swiss?" and when they were talking about assisted s*icide I knew for sure it was Switzerland! The company's called EXIT...and yes, you need to be a member, of sound mind and push the button yourself in the end Edit: if she got persecuted/prosecuted she definitely didn't get more than 10 years max
@@louisejohnson6057 well yes and no…if it‘s Switzerland i wouldn’t even be sure if there was a full investigation made (persecuted) which would lead her to be prosecuted…😅
I'd trust my husband if he said "I got this" while we were being mugged. Mostly because he's smart enough to not fight the mugger, but also because I know my luchador-looking husband would probably first intimidate the mugger with his appearance alone, and then probably throw the wallet at the mugger's face full-force before we run for it. There's no distraction as good as a painful bit of malicious compliance. That's why my wallet is made of metal, I keep my keys between my fingers, and my purse weights at least 3 lbs with the portable charger and the water bottle in it. Someone tries to take my purse they're going to leave with a concussion, some key stab wounds, and no purse. Plus I mean they would definitely have to use both hands to pick the purse up, so I get the first stab. As my family says: Don't fuxk with a crazy man, because a crazy man gives no fuxks about his life so he definitely doesn't give a fuxk about yours. In that instance, I'm the crazy (wo)man.
Last story: "Let's go for a walk after dark in a dangerous neighborhood. Don't worry, I'll protect you." It's the hero complex combined with that statement that send up all kinds of red flags. I would bet that if OP had pressed further, she would have found out that the BF literally hired that mugger, then the so-called "mugger" had to improvise when she didn't go along with the script BF had laid out. It's just a little too convenient that his "need" to protect her just happened to come true.
Story 3 - I have a feeling that as soon as Karen was released, if she gets released, she immediately contacted her brother and demanded him to give her the money, that is if he didn’t file a restraining order against her.
Some countries have the equivalent of ‘proceeds of crime’ laws so they can’t profit and can even have assets seized. So if applicable her actions would have disqualified her from any inheritance. Plus if the brother is estranged it's possible he's already disinherited. Her bratty kids on the other hand...
In the last story: The boyfriend knows he’s wrong. Because if he thought he was right there would be no reason to lie about the events. The actual event makes him look stupid, so he made up a scenario to save face
He didn't have to make up a scenario if he didn't tell everyone who care to listen that his girlfriend threw her wallet while he's arguing with the mugger.
4th story: It sounds to me like the boyfriend's ego got the better of him. First, he was going to take down the mugger. Then, he couldn't admit that he couldn't. He had to be a hero.
Such a big, strong man that insists that he can save his gf. But throws her under the bus to everyone the first second he can to save his wittle fee fees. 😂 Send him home to mommy with a towel cape. She needs to finish raising him.
I've watched a fair few videos on self-defense and they all say to get away and avoid fighting (which works for me as I'm strong enough and could probably handle myself decently if I had to but have no desire for physical altercations). The worst videos I've seen were where a guy steps in to give a woman time to get away, and instead she sticks around and keeps yelling at and insulting the attacker, or just simply not leaving, making the nice guy have to stick around and keep defending her, putting all of them in more danger. The lady in this story is an absolute keeper - kept her head, knew what to do, did it under pressure, and executed the plan and got them out of there. Her ex is a delusional man-child.
last story sends shivers down my spine, I'm a marine veteran, and have been trained in lethal self defense, but it makes my blood run cold to heat of young idiots thinking they can defend against CQC melee weapons, it's difficult to defend yourself and then I'd still advise my partner to run while I try, take my sacrifice and GTFO, because I'm not sure if I fail the mugger won't just turn and try to finish the crime should I not win
Last story: That the boyfriend's mom and all his friends thought he should have been allowed to take on the mugger shows he is part of a foolish culture who has no idea how close to the edge they want to dance. Especially mom. Someday her boy will be dead, and she will only have the saying " My son died a hero" to comfort her.
Story 3 unfortunately reminds me of my aunt. To sum it up, she never grew past the "everyone owes me everything" stage of life most people grow out of by the time we're 6 and is one of those people that posts how great they are online despite being human garbage. How this becomes relevant to the story is about a year and a half ago my grandmother, her mom, went to the hospital with a life threatening condition and my grandfather a year later with a less severethigh still ongoing condition. Out of my immediate family, my adult cousin (aunts daughter) and my aunt, guess who starved, robbed, and abandoned my grandparents as soon as they found an opportunity and blames everyone but themselves and their boy toy.
Story 3: This is going to sound horrible but I can't help but wonder what the mother was like before she developed dementia. While it could just be she spoiled her children on money, she has one child who won't see her and one who tried to kill her. Personalities (or at least behaviours) often change as the brain decays, so she might have been a totally different kind of person before needing care.
Story #3: I wish this mum had sth like a will that stated: "after my de ath my daughter gets NOTHING but ONE Dollar! Everything else will go to 'auch and such' charity"
Last story: Having been in martial arts since the 80s. Today I only train with a friend. Every time we train with a knife, we first talk about how to handle if we were ever to be robbed. OP handle it as we would have solved it. Don't take any chances. Your money, your phone, even your car is not worth losing your life. Unless they want to harm you, do not engange. Self defense is not about winning the fight, it is about not losing it. Off course, if you need to win you need to win. Most cases they just want your money. One wrong cut from that knife and you are done. Remember there is a fine line between being tough and being stupid. Looking at the story from the OP's side. End this relationship. He is not worth it. Assuming for a second that the boyfriends version is true. She provoced the mugger. Dump her. She will have you killed eventually.
Story #3 makes me think of the most evil person I ever met. It was also at an old folks home, but it wasn't a visiting family member. My grandmother died in Nov. 2012. We knew that her time was coming soon, so leading up to her death, our family practically lived at her care home. One or more of us were there 24/7. I was visiting town with my one year old daughter, and we spent every spare moment with my grandmother, because being around my sweet baby girl cheered her. Anyway, this story isn't really about my grandmother. She was a lovely person, and I'm sad she's no longer with us. One of the attendants at the care home was a woman named Tanya Bogdanovich (You can google her.) and although I didn't have much direct interaction with her, she was often there in the background, and in retrospect, I'm horrified that she had daily access to such a vulnerable population. Anyway, on New Year's 2013, (less than two months after my grandmother passed) Tanya and her boyfriend kidnapped, tortured, and murdered a local kindergarten teacher. Why? Because they thought it would be exciting. Now that's truly evil.
@@Shuichisaihara5499 As far as I am aware, she didn't have a criminal record prior to that. Still sucks that she was working with a vulnerable population though because, like I said, pure evil.
Re the nursing home story, it is possible that if the daughter was criminally convicted of trying to harm her mother, she would not be allowed, by law, to inherit anything from her.
I guess the smart thing to do is always carry a fake wallet around with you if you live in a crappy neighborhood! That way you can chuck it like you did with your wallet! That is a really good way to discourage somebody from mugging you and or killing you! Yeah just bring a (mugger wallet!) but you should make the wallet extra spicy! Put a bunch of fake bills in it And then Ask all of the officers that work in your district to give you their business card so you can fill it with their business cards! 22:59
Story 4. If Jackie Chan himself who is a master in most martial arts, says not be involved in a knife vs fist fight if you can help it, comply and get out safe. Imma listen to him. Best chance with a knife is with a piece of fabric to protect yourself, but even then could hurt yourself just trying to get the cloth. Just comply and stay safe. She did the smartest and safest bet, especially throwing it behind the mugger forcing him to turn around.
Last story: For a guy with a hero fantasy, he really didn't act like much of a hero...in fact just the opposite. What heroes does he know that treat their loved ones with such disrespect by telling packs of lies to make them look bad? True heroes are honest and truthful people who would never degrade others to save their own emotional skins. Once I found out about what boyfriend did, the first thing I would have said to him would have been, "And what do you think would say about your actions and what you told your friends?"
Story 4: I'm retired military and have been trained to fight with knives, how to defend against them and disarm an attcker using who is using 'one'. That stated, in a civilian situation I give the attacker every possibility to walk away and take every opportunity to walk away, especially if someone is with me who has no training or experience in fighting. Anyone who wants to escalate a confrontation that clearly doesn't have to do so is an idiot.
Story 4 - Pro tip: If you know you're going to a public/dangerous area, carry a fake wallet. One with little/no money and fake info/id in it. Give that to any mugger to deescalate the situation.
Story 4: I am an expert in at least 3 different martial arts and even I would not risk fighting someone with a knife drawn. I worked in food service for over 20 years and know how dangerous a knife can be in the wrong hands. One bad cut from a knife and you are not going to be able to fight back anymore, either due to the pain or blood loss, probably both.
Lol. When my husband & I first started dating, he made sure to make it clear. If we get mugged or something, it's time to Run. For us both. Possibly in opposite directions to increase our chances while the guy decides who to chase. We found the John Mulaney bit extra funny because of that.
When I was 11 I had two other kids come at me both with knives in hand at a skate park. Their reason was I was riding a scooter and that wasn't allowed to be there to them. I'm a very big person even when I was a child and I practiced martial arts for fun even to this day and like so many other times I thought I could handle this situation. What ended up happening is I got stabbed through my left wrist after disarming both of them. I didnt notice I was stabbed while chasing both of them to their nearby house until the adrenaline wore off. I left a bloody trail behind me about half a block down the road starting from the skate park. I ended up getting stiches and unable to use my left hand for a couple months. I still have the scar and Im often reminded Courage can get you through a fight but not wounds you or others get. Real Heroism is knowing when to get out of bad situation unharmed Morale of the Story is Don't try to fight people with knives when your unarmed.
Used to work at a retirement home as well. You see So many messed up things like in the retirement home story. like people who give their choking hazard family member full on pizza, chicken, tacos anything they used their own money for and a few times I did what I could to help but was told not to since I wasn’t medically trained for it…you see someone choking to death I know you call for help for the professionals but they weren’t going to make it in time a few times. or when a man fell out of his chair the nurses were all women and could barely lift him and I got scolded for it. Since I wasn’t technically affiliated with the retirement home. I was contracted kitchen staff. I made all of their days good tho if they came to the dining room. left after an incident on the “end” of Covid as the shot came out. Hated them for that and left
The lady with the rope, she pressed charges and never heard anything more about it or was reimbursed? I hate to break it to you but as the complaintent of you weren't summoned about a statement or a plea deal, she wasn't arrested or charged with anything. If you're not part of the process for simple destruction of property, the state isn't going to do it on your behalf. Nothing happened to her and you didn't even get your $50 back. Even if she pled guilty right off the bat and hit community service you would've at the very least been contacted about restitution.
for story 3, im guessing that karen did not let her brother know where the mother was, or he was physically unable to see her. though with her entitlement, im guessing its the former. i guess karen figured that the more she was with her mother, the more likely it would be that she would get the inheritance, which probably couldve worked, if she didnt get so greedy she tried to kill her own mother
That last guy has a severe case of savior complex, one that will easily get him unalived. And I'm getting real Syndrome vibes if that mugging was staged.
I am visiting my grandma who is in her 80s. A conversation she had with me was her will. She told me I’m getting money and pick anything in her home I want left to me. As a sane person I said “I appreciate it but don’t want to think about it. I hope you live a long life” (longevity runs on her side)
Story 3---I knew how bad it was going to get when you said, "He went to his Mother's house." rather than his own! Imagine how his friends and family would have attacked you had he been killed or left braindead from the knife wounds he could easily have gotten from the mugger?
Last story, the boyfriend should have been thrilled that his bravado made an opportunity for his girl to give the thief a worthless empty purse and get away without injury. They made a good team and he couldn't see past his testosterone. I've been cut badly. You don't want to get cut badly.
Story 4: This is the kind of story that could have been easily worked out with access to those early-2000's gore and fight video sites that have been pushed to the fringes by so-called polite society. OP shows her boyfriend what happens to people in knife fights where both people are armed IRL and explains that she was acting to prevent worse, and BF learns an important lesson.
Agreed. No, it's not pretty but ugly RL stuff helps people to learn. "Polite society" can't hide from all "unpolite society" people forever. This whole hiding away the ugly takes away our ability to handle it when it does show its face.
Last one, anyone else recreating the knife scene in Crocodile Dundee in their head about now? Ex saw an MMA fight once and thinks he's ready, but unless he's hiding a machete in his pants, he's not.
I've heard of bringing a knife to a gun fight but dude brought fists and ego to a knife fight. Idc how tough you think you are or that you can take someone just bc they look weaker than you bc you never know what that person is capable of or if they feel they have nothing to lose killing someone over a few bucks in a wallet.
On that last one, I kind of get it. I've been robbed at gun point, nobody got hurt, but I still think back to what I could've done differently. Granted, the boyfriend took things too far.
*Story 4-* My hubby’s a _BIG_ guy! (Think hockey/football big) He can easily put me over his shoulder and carry me around. My hubby would protect me, but not in a childish way like that dude in the story!!! 🙄 *I love my hubby!!!* 🥰😘❤️❤️❤️
Rope Story: If I were OP, when the Officer told me I could Press Charges, I'd give him a truly Psychotically Vindictively Evil Grin and say" Officer, I do believe that Witch has more than earned a nice set of stainless steel bracelets...Please Arrest Her! Then, while she was booked into Jail awaiting Arraignment, I'd have my Lawyer Server her the papers for a Lawsuit (Harassing a Minor, Threatening a Minor and Destruction of Property) and I'd be asking the Court for at least $7,500.00 for the Mental, Emotional and Punitive Damages...oh, and I'd also ask for my Legal Costs on top of the 7,500... That way, I could have my cake (her Arrested) AND eat it too (Sue her for LOTS of money)... 😄😁😆😅😂🤣
Speaking as a female who has embarrassed the penis more than a few times, let me assure you he should thank you. I studied aikido for many years. My Sensei (teacher) worked with the local police on several occasions. The event that matters here is that Sensei had a knife and the police officer has a dummy gun. From 9 feet away, the police officer lost. Don't charge people with knives.
#2 $50 for 15 feet of rope? How thick the rope is? The last time I bought a 5 mm thick rope, it only cost me 10 cent for 30 feet. #3 They didn't have security cameras in the patient rooms? #4 Dude, leave the heroing to Batman.
Last story: I have a .380. I have HOLLOW POINT rounds. I live in an open carry state so as long as it can't be considered TRULY CONCEALED (and I intend to get a CCP) then I don't need some id10t to think he's "protecting" me. And the guy I'm kind of involved with after becoming a widow at 53 is former AIRBORNE and knows I was RAISED as an AF dependent knows I can and WILL defend myself. And he BELIEVES I CAN DO SO BECAUSE HE DOESN'T THINK WOMEN ARE LESSER.
So BF brought his bare hands to a knife fight. Hands get cut. The movies are not reality. Now if she pepper sprayed him then they kicked the crap out of him, well that's karma. Oh yeah, is the guy a wired junkie who won't care about getting hurt.
It is not worth to get hurt over a couple of $. Every self-defense instructor tells you, it is not worth it. Even if you are Bruce Lee, it is not worth it. Even if you win a fight, you could get hurt. For example, you could just fall hard on the asphalt and damage something. I once saw a knife defense by a special force guy. He just ran and yes, that is a good idea. Do not fight unless you have no other option.
Story 2: Shamelessly committing destruction of property, this is a BOLD Karen. Not to mention walking towards someone with a knife, that could've caught a few more charges
Apparently, simply approaching someone in a manner that induces fear for one's safety, actually constitutes assault
bold but dumb
Not to mention, endangering KIDS.
The fact that the Karen said she'd pay for the damage after the Police Officer approached her means she realized she messed up.
rope is a really weird gift. If I got gifted one I would assume they wanted me to unalive myself
Did the boyfriend hire someone to play mugger so he could pretend to be the big strong hero? That occurred to me because he suddenly suggested a nighttime walk in a bad neighborhood.
Good point. OP and mugger seemed surprised by BF's attitude. Maybe it was real? But there's a non-zero chance mugger was paid.
It honestly wouldn’t surprise me given the guys hero complex
Makes sense, because that would really make the BF upset about how the situation turned out. He was supposed to be the Alpha Male in the situation and the OP didn't play according to the script.
Story 3: I can't imagine being THAT desperate for inheritance money. Not only trying to push for medical-assissted death, but then turning to straight up murder, which I think she would've been easily caught for if she wasn't caught immediately.
At least the woman passed peacefully without her psychotic daughter nearby
That parasite is a psychopath. Hopefully she spent time in jail.
@@onepieceisking5493 another money worshipper.
@@onepieceisking5493 Wouldn’t the daughter be a sociopath instead of a psychopath?
Given the sheer number of true crime cases involving children m----ring their parents for the inheritance, not only can people be this desperate, they are, and more often than we'd like to think.
Story 1: The daughter is on her way to becoming a better person and to go no contact on her entitled mother.
Yeah she’ll likely remember how horribly her mother embarrassed her and will vow to never be like her.
Story 1 - People who use their own kids like this mom did are the worst scumbags on the planet. My heart goes out to the daughter and I hope that she never ends up like her mom.
Same. That poor girl.
Sounds to me the daughter will leave the mom once she's 18.
A hero takes the option that most effectively protects the most people, not the option that makes them feel good.
In the street every fight you avoid is a fight you win
A piece of advice I got from a firearms instructor was that, "the winner of a knife fight goes to the hospital too."
Avoid the situation if possible.
Avoid is step 0. Don't walk around the city late at night, no matter how stir crazy you feel.
Story 2 - OP did the right thing in calling the police and pressing charges against that… woman, all because of a rope swing that her son couldn’t swing on?! And the fact that she confessed to her crime to OP so smugly just shows what kind of a person she is. Disgusting
the fact she has a knife that so sharp on hand too
Honestly she got off easy only having to spend a few hours in jail.
@@broski89 yeah but the fact she openly carred it to a PARK. with her kid in toe too. just to do it when ever

Last story: The fact op never even tried to tell the boyfriend’s mom and friends the truth really shows that she likely never got along with them to begin with.
I used to teach martial arts
Hard agree about knife defense.
I never understood why people think that servers/cashiers etc have the authority to discount stuff for them.
Well before I got too sick to work target let us discount items to up too 20 percent and call a manger to get permission if you think it needs a discount more than that
I do customer service in call centers, and it is WILD the number of people who try to haggle.
That’s a real good question. Unless the cashier is also the manager/boss they don’t have the power to make or give discounts to anyone.
Near as I can figure, the logic goes "Well, they know how to use the registers, they must know which buttons to push to give me a discount," not factoring in whether they DESERVE it or not.
@@tmntfangirl4700Even then, many registers can't just magically reduce prices. You usually need to take that up to the service desk.
Tueller Drill. They’ve determined that knives are deadly quickly even to cops who have guns.
Wouldn’t surprise me to learn bf was “attacked” by a friend so he could play hero.

Richard Pryor once said "if you can run instead of fight then run! your ego will heal faster than a broken jaw"
In the last story:
The boyfriend knows he’s wrong.

Story #2: Not only did Karen destroy private property but she also terrorized children WITH A WEAPON. YES! Press charges!

Self defense is not about winning the fight, it is about not losing it. Off course, if you need to win you need to win. Most cases they just want your money. One wrong cut from that knife and you are done.
Remember there is a fine line between being tough and being stupid.

Jesus! We’re background checks foreign at that nursing home
Yeah just bring a (mugger wallet!)
but you should make the wallet extra spicy!
Story 3. It's entirely possible that the son didn't visit because the evil daughter refused to let him see her.
Real Heroism is knowing when to get out of bad situation unharmed
Morale of the Story is Don't try to fight people with knives when your unarmed.
Story 4 update: Ditch the lying bastard. He cannot be trusted.
Wait wait wait. Story 4 was "he thought he was supposed to be the hero, but in the end he became the villain.
What got me about the rope story was the lady comes towards the kids with a knife! Also she had no right to order someone else's kids she didn't know!
I am visiting my grandma who is in her 80s. A conversation she had with me was her will. She told me I’m getting money and pick anything in her home I want left to me. As a sane person I said “I appreciate it but don’t want to think about it. I hope you live a long life” (longevity runs on her side)
Ya, story 4, the guy needs to know there's a difference between dashingly heroic and dangerously stupid.
Karen played Cut the Rope and lost. Lol
My husband carries, so I would absolutely trust him to protect him.
I wonder if the “hero” in story 4 set up the attack with a friend so he could impress/manipulate his girlfriend?
Last one, anyone else recreating the knife scene in Crocodile Dundee in their head about now? Ex saw an MMA fight once and thinks he's ready, but unless he's hiding a machete in his pants, he's not.
Good Afternoon Everyone!
The last story is why i never leave home unarmed
On that last one, I kind of get it. I've been robbed at gun point, nobody got hurt, but I still think back to what I could've done differently. Granted, the boyfriend took things too far.
*Story 4-* My hubby’s a _BIG_ guy! (Think hockey/football big) He can easily put me over his shoulder and carry me around. My hubby would protect me, but not in a childish way like that dude in the story!!! 🙄
*I love my hubby!!!* 🥰😘❤️❤️❤️
😄😁😆😅😂🤣
I support your gluttony for justice. I’d do the same if I had a lawyer
Last story, honestly, the dude dodged a bullet. That said, the comment from the defense instructor was mostly correct. Knives are not fun.
2" (50mm) rope, the kind you often see for climbing in gymnasiums, is usually just over $3 per foot.
@@maderaadani2180 That's a very thick rope. I wonder if those kids could bend and tie it on a tree.
Last story:
I have a .380.
Wasn't one of the young actors from the Harry Potter movies stabbed to death while trying to protect his brother?
So BF brought his bare hands to a knife fight. Hands get cut. The movies are not reality. Now if she pepper sprayed him then they kicked the crap out of him, well that's karma. Oh yeah, is the guy a wired junkie who won't care about getting hurt.
Story 3 - Karen should have brought her maid with her.😅
It is not worth to get hurt over a couple of $.
