Story one.... Entitled Neighbor has no concept of "private property", or the meaning of "NO!" 🤨 Getting his truck towed should be the last of his worries. 😮
If I recall correctly (heard this story before) it came up in a comment that the son had actually told his dad that he had not parked in teh driveway, but on the street. So the dad legit thought OP had the car towed from off the street in front of their house. That said, he didn''t have to be a loudmouth AH.
Good thing this *didn’t* happen in the UK, England particularly I *think,* because over there *apparently* driveways *aren’t* part of private property, therefore having cars blocking you towed is somehow illegal.
Yeah. Why didn't mommy- or daddy-dearest give up *their* spot for the the pickup truck? Or the (I'm guessing) older siblings? *None* bof them need their parking spots! Worse yet, what if OP needed to have EMS and/or the fire department come to OP's house due to a medical emergency or a fire? The fire department can *total* the F350 if it needs to!
Personally I would have caused every single tire to get a slow leak (at just slightly different rates) of each tire at the valve before calling for a tow. And honestly, I might have called the cops along with the tow truck to fully document with them from the get go. And considering the time, the cop probably wouldn't have lights going that would possibly alert, so THAT F neighbor has seen towing and came over threatening things, would have been fun to watch them explain how it's illegal to tow from private property when was told to not park there.
First Story - I don’t believe that what OP did was extreme at all. She told the neighbor that his son couldn’t use her driveway to park his truck and she warned him that if he parked his truck in her driveway again after the first time then she’d have it towed. She did everything calmly and perfectly. Extreme would’ve been having the car vandalized to prove a point.
Good thing this *didn’t* happen in the UK, England particularly I *think,* because over there *apparently* driveways *aren’t* part of private property, therefore having cars blocking you towed is somehow illegal.
Not in this case. It was ILLEGALLY parked meanong they could sue. It's a civil matter. They would losr bc they wete committing a crime. When you go to court, you must have clean hands. It's a doctrine under the law that if you broke the law amd that's what set the events in motion that started the lawsuit, the court will refuse to file the case. This family were in muck up to their elbows so no court in the land will help them.
I'm guessing they were drummed out of their last neighborhood for these similar actions. They sound like bullies.Good for you for stopping this nonsense.
23:50 Talked to a fellow cab driver here in Sweden that stopped his cab over two disabled spaces in a hurry to get out of the car and perform CPR on a collapsed man on the sidewalk. While he’s doing that and hearing the EMT’s sirens a metermaid tickets his cab only three feet from him… A passerby took a photo of the incident and the ticket got thrown away and also the metermaids employment was thrown away…
That is awesome. It shows that common sense is still in action there. The meter maid just gets what she deserves. I wonder how the meter maid would feel if it was her life that was being saved, or one of her kids!!!!!
I remember watching a UK traffic warden write a ticket for a hearse, as the coffin was being withdrawn by the pall bearers in front of a Methodist Chapel..
You're basically comparing apples to oranges. That was a true emergency situation but a leaking bag isn't an emergency. You people have a habit of cherry picking certain situations. I wish that she had received a ticket for parking there because then she would understand that nothing about her situation would excuse her choice to park illegally.
@@MsTemptation As a person who IS disabled and needs those spots, NTA. It wasn't just a "leaking bag". It was a life at stake as the bag was nearly empty and fish cannot survive without water. They will literally suffocate. Slowly, and painfully. If you are OK with that, you are a terrible person. Had they received a ticket, that would also be fair. But acting like they are those people who park in handycaped parking just because is, ironically, cherry picking on your part.
An idiot too stupid to be a parent. That is too much truck for an amateur driver. Was well over twenty when I first drove a truck that big (Army 2and1/2 ton). Then became a professional 18-wheel driver in my thirties. Would have had to be 21 to drive one if I could get hired, most companies will not hire unless you have 2 yrs. of experience so the only companies that would are the "School Companies" and Independents. Look back to my youth where I would not have been given a beast that big because the State, I lived in did not issue licensees till you were 18 though if you got one from another state, they would have honored them.
There was a final update. The son kept parking his truck on other neighbors driveways and got it towed a couple more times. His parents ended up trading it in for something small enough to fit in their driveway.
@@Devillin Go back to 1990, and today's F150 would be the F250. Back to 1980, and that would be the F350, back to 1970 and the comparison would be the F550, and back in the 1960's it would make the F650 look small... IF there would have ever been an F650. In the 1970's, it's hood was at the same height as that of a regular car.
Ditto - Also OP should have immediately called a tow truck and gotten it removed that first time and not gone over to them.. They told them no it cant be parked there. Once the tow truck has it hooked it's hooked and costs them either a drop fee, or they tow it completely. Police definitely would be involved because they arent going to listen to reason.
@@Ryanthusar It's a repeat story but think it was properly done because it gave her additional evidence. This is simply a case of a man who has zero respect for women and obviously his son was brought up the same way. This being a first case, I'd assume a warning and/or fine of $500 for first offense 2nd degree trespass. Probably $500 for the tow plus storage. Typically it costs more to store a vehicle than to rent a decent motel.
I love how the neighbor said she wasn't being neighborly. He is even worse. I can see that if he was having his driveway repaired, something done in the garage that would take a couple of days to complete, I'm sure that OP would say yes just for the couple of days of inconvenience, but this case would have been a long-term issue that would take years to solve if she didn't cut them off quickly.
Good thing this *didn’t* happen in the UK, England particularly I *think,* because over there *apparently* driveways *aren’t* part of private property, therefore having cars blocking you towed is somehow illegal.
@timothyweers8054 to me that's typical. I had a neighbor wreck my organic transit, a 10k enclosed adult tricycle, and then they freaked out that I was using my parking spot in front of my house.
Private property is private property. One "no" to a request is sufficient. If they can't take "no" for an answer, it's their problem and they can deal with the consequences. It's no different than if someone said "no" to being touched in certain ways. Whether they violate your property or your bodily autonomy, "no" is end of story and it's not at all extreme to get authorities involved. It's clear they don't respect you or your decisions, so there's no reason to trust them.
Funny how all the bullies think you will accomodate their needs, if they start calling you names... If you don't use your garage for vehicles but storage of "other things" you might get fined up to 5k € in my area - nobody does this, but the laws do exist. And it is also quite remarkable how empty the streets become at dire storm-warnings ... (I am team gold-fish)
I'm betting the cop told the guy if she so much as has a scratch on her car or her kids come in crying HE will be held responsible. She was SICK & still respectful.
First post. Hoorah! Finally an HOA that seems reasonable and on their resident's side. OP absolutely did the right thing. She twice explicitly denied permission to park in her driveway. And warned them that she would have the truck towed. She would have had to eventually because Kevin and Kevin, Jr. would have continued to park in her driveway until she did.
Another commenter posted an update: Kevin, Jr. parked in other people's driveways, the truck got towed a couple more times and it was traded in for a smaller vehicle that fit their driveway.
Driveway Story: If I was OP, I'd have told the ED that NONE of his Family have Permission to Park in my Driveway and if they ever do, I WILL have their cars Ticketed and Towed for Trespassing and Illegal Parking...This is the Only Warning I intend to give you, STAY OFF MY DRIVEWAY, then I'd close the door in his face... The moment I found one of their cars in my Driveway, I'd call the Non-Emergency Police number to have it Ticketed and Towed...if it happens a second time, not only would I repeat the Police call, I'd also call a Lawyer to Sue them for Trespassing and Harassment, then get a Restraining Order (No Contact & STAY OFF MY BLOODY PROPERTY!) against the entire Family... 😄😁😆😅😂🤣
Police wont ticket on private property, but they will ticket for aggressive behavior and trespassing. HOA would also fine them for violating their rules.
this happened to me after we left notes, placed 'caution' tape blocking them, went over to visit, parked another vehicle to stop them, & spray painted in huge letters across my driveway : NO PARKING. Fish story - don't use them but in this case I would ask that you park there with your hazard lights on. It indicates that you're returning immediately. In the case of a caregiver.
That's so smart, I didn't even think of that! Would definitely give enough context clues for me to understand they weren't just some jerk stealing disabled parking.
@@LilChuunosuke Sometimes context helps like whenever Elon is being an ass, you have to flip the lights on so people understand he's doing it to save the planet and freedom of speech for assholes he likes.
THANKS YOU!!!! I'm glad someone thought about this as well. Look emergency or not, op had enough time to turn on their emergency lights and run in. I get some people's concern with it being a pets life . But would op feel less an asshole if they paid a fine after committing a crime?
Story 1 - If the tow company is decent, they will have also written up paperwork describing where they took the truck from, and have taken their own pictures of it to cover themselves against claims for preexisting damage. OP can get a copy of that as well, in case the neighbor does try to sue, and they can get really laughed out of court.
I knew a farmer who had problems with "Odd", vehicles that would appear now and again, on his farm, blocking access gates or on embankments impeding movement of his vehicles and/or livestock, (he was the uncle of a friend i knew at college). He found a car up off the road, blocking a gate into a field of sheep, it was there 3 days, without moving, so he hid it in plain sight, by with a couple of farm hands, he moved the gate with the fencing panels, thus moving the gate. Then, having attended to his sheep, covered that car in an old carpet, then erected an old tumble down shed over the carpet. Then piled loads of old junk around it. Like an old rusty plough, bales of old barbed wire, some lumber, by the time he finished, it just looked like it had always been there. Another one got similar treatment, when found it was in a field, through a gate, so he covered that one with a huge tarpaulin and covered it all with about 300 old tires so it looked like a silage clamp, (silage is freshly cut straw/grass,sealed under plastic or tarp, weighed down with tires to keep oxygen out, so it ferments, stays sweet and is fed to livestock through the winter). The police came by a couple of times asking if he had seen any strange cars, but he played ignorant, denied all knowledge and after a couple of years scrapped them both with a friendly junkyard, splitting the profits 50/50. This was in rural Kent, England in the early 1970s, before cars were fitted with alarms and trackers. This was the man who, after a neighbour complained that a mutually shared gate, that was left open and cows got into his garden and ate his daffodils, said, "THAT GATE HAS GOT TO STAY SHUT AT ALL TIMES". So he went out at 02:30 one morning, made sure their car was inside and welded that gate shut. He died in 2008, i still miss that man and his sense of humor. Safe to use this if you wish, most of that farm is now a housing estate.

Story 2: As a disabled person who walks with mobility aids and has a service dog, absolutely NTA. If I was looking for a spot and saw someone rush into a disabled bay and sprint out of the car with ANY animal, be it a cat or a dog or fish or even a snake, I'd low-key park behind their car and shield it from the cops until they returned, if I had time. I rely on my dog for medical reasons, and I have other pets too (cat, snake). This was an emergency, and you did what needed to be done. And for those saying "the disabled person now has to look for a spot further away" generally no, if you're willing to use another entrance there are almost always disabled bays available here. I need one of those spots and I'd give it up to an emergency like this on my roughest days without hesitation.
I see it like a bathroom stall. If there's ANY other stall available, use that. If not, and it's an emergency, then take the disabled stall...but be as fast as you can.
@@wjm1319so if some young able bodies guy just pushed passed you "in your stall reference " because they had to take a nasty shi** you fine with that? Even though you were waiting?
@@Gamerghoul19 There is a big difference between "pushed passed you" and "asked politely if they can use the stall immediately" (and if there is no one waiting to ask for, you're free to go, if it's really an emergency, after all, there are cases when the choice is between getting it to the bathroom and making a steamy puddle on spot). The former is being an AH. The latter isn't. Yet you somehow only provided the former example...
For the last story: NTA. I am disabled and have only received the parking placard a few months ago. If you were just going into a regular store or wherever because it was convenient, then I would say you were wrong to park there. But I would totally understand that you were trying to save the fish you had gotten for your son. Don't let anyone try to say you were in the wrong; sometimes circumstances call for doing things you would not normally do. And hi Darkfluff and Stevo, from Canada. :)
As someone who has been fully disabled for 15 years, I would have called the police and had the car ticketed. Let her take it up with the judge as to why she parked there. I used to be like you, excusing people in a hurry or "just five minutes" and no, too many people use the "I was just inside for five minutes"... as I have had their car ticketed and the officer already gone (30 minutes). Give it enough time and you will come across far too many AH's who use it as their private valet too many times when you absolutely need it and your compassionate view will change. Oh, where was THEIR compassion for the disabled when they chose to park there?
@@johnathansaegal3156 yea I have no sympathy for people when it comes to those spots. It is one thing for an actual emergency but this was not and OP even stated they drove around the parking lot looking for a spot. That isn't in very much of a hurry with how they said the bag was leaking and almost empty. Also they could have easily parked right next to the store and ran in instead of taking a handicapped spot.
@noyou9379 sounded to me like they were driving around because there were no parks except the disabled one, not because they were having a grand old time cruising around the parking lot. Only when they thought the fish would die if they didn't park immediately did they take the disabled parking spot, as there were literally no other spots (including "right in front of the store"). It was for 5 min to save the life of an animal. Not ideal, but definitely excusable.
OP made a point of saying "tropical aquarium". Goldfish are not considered "topicals" even though they can live in one. Tropical fish are generally more expensive and less hardy than goldfish.
@@johnathansaegal3156I agree. There are always people leaving parking lots, given one or two more minutes, she would have found a parking spot just fine. But we actually NEED those spots.
I used to be a manager at a pet store, and fun fact: whether it's due do ignorance or apathy, the most abused animal people buy are fish. So I congratulate on OP and his son for doing right by their pets.
It all lies anyway……. Written almost in a professional manner , if there’s one thing you yanks understand is trespass. It frustrates me that so much BS is spread on RUclips
Who buys a teenager a F350? That's meant to be a work truck and hauling trailers. I have some sympathy for the home owner. My neighbors have 5 vehicles and a 3 car garage so filled with stuff they can only get 1 in. We live on a cul-de-sac and their wedge has no street parking. Im at the entrance. I have enough street parking in front of my house for 2 cars, but the side of my house has enough parking for 10. BTW, there are only 2 driving adults in the house. They leave one of their cars parked right in front of my house and it hasn't moved in at least a month. I wish they would park on the side of the house as it is blocking the view of my front yard driving up and it is a nice yard. I don't say anything because it is public and I don't want to start any tensions, but I wish they would have a little more courtesy.
I'm always astounded that the new neighbors were entitled and totally disregarded OP's wishes about their own property, yet treated her like trash bc she stood up for herself. If the shoe were on the other foot, they'd be freaking out if someone else did that to them. 🙄
Story 2: Being disabled myself and has been raised in a household that has had pet fish, I say that OP is not an AH. I agree with the one commenter saying that people would say it was justified if it was a dog or a cat in this situation. It wasn’t like OP had a choice in the matter, save the energy for people who park in disabled spots who aren’t trying to save a fish from dying.
I also feel the same, and tbh those Disability Gatekeepers on Parking Lot Crusades cause me more pain than having my husband park a row over does since, y'know, mine's genetic and invisible and I get flak for that. I'd rather have the five minute parkers than Disability Gatekeepers.
@@DoctorOaks So, let me get this right, stay there and debate with the Disability Gatekeeper, and let the fish run out of water? I would have turned on the flashers and parked to the edge of the road, which would inconvenience EVERYONE!
@@BuilderofRat wtf are you on about? He met her after getting the new bag for the fish. She could've needed the spot or been with someone who needed the spot and saw him rush inside. I'm not going to be upset with her for calling him out for doing something wrong
@johnathansaegal3156 depending on how tightly it was tied, it may leak if held upside down. You also have to be extremely careful about how you turn the bag. If the fish ends up head first in a corner, it could get stuck there and suffocate. Also, depending on how bumpy the roads are where OP lives and how far the pet store is away from home, there would still be a high risk for too much water to slosh out of the top. A fish can typically only survive in one of those small pet store bags for a few hours. Every drop of water that sloshes out is a minute lost.
@@johnathansaegal3156so you are expecting her to drive around with only one hand for may be half an hour. I think that's dangerous. I understand you are disabled and moving around is painful for you. But moving a few extra meters will not kill you. If the packet got empty then the fish would have definitely died. Your disability shouldn't make you so bitter that you stop feeling compassion for other living beings.
An F-350 for a 16 year old? If they can afford that truck, they can afford a bigger house with enough parking spaces. We really need an update to this story!
Story #1: sorry but. As soon as he asked I would have stoped parking IN my garage and would have parked my car super badly in my driveway that not even a bike could have squeezed by! It's SO OBVIOUS that if people ask sth like this they are completly oblivious to ANY reasoning!!
In my opinion, the woman who had the truck towed did not act in the extreme at all. She gave her new neighbors fair warning of her intentions should they use her driveway without permission again. Then, when they used it again she did exactly what she said she would do…no more, no less. Bully for her! I understand from first hand experience that navigating life as a single parent of children has more than enough challenges in the course of daily living? She did nothing to deserve being yelled and cursed at, called a bitch and bullied by a misogynist who obviously thinks he does not have to pay any mind to a woman, period. There are too many people today who were never taught that NO means NO, end of story.
As a disabled person I COMPLETELY disagree with the commenter there on that last story. I would rather have someone only be in and out in five minutes (in a good cause at that) than have to deal with the know-it-all-goody-two-shoes who think they're the gatekeepers of disability that actually make my life more difficult, but what do I know, I only have an invisible disability that makes walking extremely painful for me and since I still have my legs rando strangers treat me like I'm faking. 🤷♀ Believe me, those queen bees cause me more pain than my disability because I suffer from a variety of anxiety issues and of course, since it's invisible, imposter syndrome is a thing as well.
Ik I'm a random person, buy I just wanted to remind you that you are valid. Do what you can to be comfortable. You don't need the validation of random assholes; if it was them, they wouldn't act like that.
Fish story - I would love to hear from a police officer on the topic. I know that if you have a broken leg, but no disabled parking permit, you're getting a ticket.
Honestly for the fish if they thought the fish would certainly die otherwise it isnt a good thing but I also dont think he was an AH in that situation in that it was to save a life. Even if that life is of a fish.
Story 2: Idk. My Dad is disabled, my grandfather was disabled, I'm disabled but not in a way that makes me need a parking spot. I'm torn with this one. Legally speaking OP is in the wrong but morally speaking I really think OP was right. The fish is a living creature and it would have died if OP hadn't done what they did. I think I'm more okay with it than upset about it. I don't know that I fully agree with OP parking there but I do fully understand it.
Can't say I agree on "morally speaking". As the one commenter said, you never know when that spot might be needed or by whom. What if right after going inside a wheelchair van pulled up with a quadriplegic or someone with cerebral palsy? And what if it had been a police officer or mall security instead of a random woman, resulting in an expense for ticket and tow? Even for a cat or dog, I don't see an excuse. It would be better to park in a no parking zone, loading zone, or on the street than take a handicap spot.
@@hollyhartwick3832 I get where you're coming from about someone disabled needing the spot. That's why I'm torn. But as for "what if they got a ticket" Id rather get a ticket personally than the fish die. Im sure OP was aware they could get a ticket by doing that. I personally think a life is worth more than a ticket or a tow and thus that possibility doesn't matter to me as much. No one other than OP is hurt by OP getting a ticket, and I assume OP took that risk knowingly.
@@liamlockheartart7560 - While I applaud your compassion, the ticket probably would have cost more than the fish. There's also a limited supply of oxygen in the water in the bag. How well do you think it would have fared if his car got towed? Fish are also sensitive to extreme changes in temperature. If it was a hot or cold day, that tiny bag would have quickly become inhospitable. If he had to wait for a cab, that fish could well have died anyway. The safest bet would have been to pull up on the curb next to the entrance. Similar risks, but not to a disable person. There were other alternatives.
@@hollyhartwick3832 I know the ticket would cost more than the fish but like I already said, that's entirely irrelevant. The fish may have died if the car got towed and there were other options, I get that. I'm not saying OPs choice was flawless just that I understand why they did it.
As someone who is disabled and uses disabled parking. I'm ok with anyone using a disabled spot for emergencies. I don't care if it's for your baby or your goldfish.
Story 1: The problem is OP was too nice. As soon as she saw the truck in the driveway, she should have called the police, called a tow truck and had the aholes trespassed
If the op had stolen the spot from under the nose of someone disabled trying to park there, yes, he would be the A-hole. But five minutes, to save the life of a goldfish? That is most likely, not going to effect anyone, and unlikely that someone disabled would end up harmed in that short period of time. Is it possible? Sure. But, I think five minutes is not much time to take up space, for the reason given.
Also OP was parked there to save a fish. A pet. If you use a disabled parking spot to save a cat or a dog, people would argue less. If someone parked there to get a phone to call 911 for a dying baby, I don't think people would be as irritated.
my issue is they said they drove around the parking lot so how much of a hurry were they really to save the fish that they needed to use a handicapped spot to run in really quickly. If they were really in that much of a hurry they should have parked right next to the store and ran in instead of driving around the parking lot multiple times.
@@noyou9379 Bag has water and can survive a couple of minutes and not an emergency. A couple of minutes later with less water they need to park now. The fact that they did not park immediatly is a good thing, they tried to do the right thing and were unable to do so.
Compassion should never be punished, regardless if it was shown toward a person or an animal. Punish compassion, and the person will be less inclined toward kindness and concern for living creatures in the future.
Story 1: I would never buy a teenager a truck. They should have started small Story 2: Next time, bring a sealable plastic box for the bag. Nothing can be done about it now so let it go. I doubt OP is going to make a habit of it. I say NOT the Ahole
It would have been far more dangerous for op to just stall out on the middle of the parking lot a disabled space is better than nothing and the fish was indeed disabled XD fish feel pain and stress like any other, it is just as horrible for a fish to suffocate as it is for us, also no it was not a "goldfish" it was a tropical fish and those bitches can be expensive
If he isn't disabled, he can probably run! Park in the closest space as long as it isn't disabled parking and run into the store. A few seconds not in the water is not usually enough time to kill a fish and the bag has just started leaking with a SMALL leak, so the fish probably would still have enough water by the time he got a new bag for it.
OP is not the ierk its the neighbors and thier entitlement; couldn't take NO for an answer and just do it anyway. OP had the rights to call a tow and haul that monster truck out. Good job OP 👏🏻 As for story 2 OP is not the AHOLE it was an emergency!
Story 1: When it started, I knew where this was going, and my exact thoughts were "what if there is an emergency?" Also, I would have done the same - one warning, telling them to move it, while also telling them it would get towed if it happened again. Second time - towed.

@@lancerevell5979 I never hear that story. Maybe you heard it from other channel? There are some similar channels in youtube (Redwheel, Karma Crow, Ripe, ...)
My opinion of the last story As a disabled person, I generally prefer that people don't take designated disabled parking spots. However, I understand that in high-stress situations, people may make quick decisions without thinking it through. Regarding the fish in question, if it was a tropical fish, it's important to note that these can be quite expensive. Even if it was just a goldfish, it's still a living creature that deserves care and respect.
True, but the OP also said it was a small leak. If there are other parking spaces there, he has time to park in one of them and still get the fish to the store in time. If the fish had died, the store would be obligated to replace it, because it was their bag that had leaked.
Concerning the karen neighbors and the driveway parking, the father felt that he could intimidate op because she was a woman, a single mom, and he a man, could just override her.
I'm disabled and I agree that the fish owner is NTA. Fish feel pain and experience basic emotions. Their lives are just as important as any other animals and it absolutely disgusts me how they're treated in pet shops. I can deal with a little discomfort if it means an animal gets to live.
assuming they'd use the spot for long enough for a law enforcement officer to arrive: seems to me like the OP was only going to be there for as short a time as possible. But yes, they should have no issue paying the fine if they were to be given a ticket with the explanation that they believed time was of the essence (not using it as an excuse, but as an explanation)
@beirirangu I'm pretty sure op just posted to ease their Conscience. I bet they argue why should I have to pay if they where caught, I mean the fact the woman telling op something already tells how they are, and that's not giving a f***.

The most annoying part of the first story is THEY DECIDED. THEY decided to buy him a gigantic truck. THEY decided to use their garage for storage instead of parking. THEY decided they don't want to park in the street. THEY decided to trespass and THEY decided to do it again.
They made the decision to be horrible entitled Bullies! It seems so hard for people to have good character, morals & integrity these days! Boundaries & Respect 🫡
i had an incident like this when I was still living at home. This guy would park his car across the end of the driveway leaving us no way to get our car out to do anything. We left notes on the car requesting he not do this. No luck. We tried to get the city to tow him, no luck One day I was coming home on the bus with my favorite bus driver, i mentioned the problem to him. (I had talked to him for about a decade or so) Just then we got to the corner where we turned to go down my street, and he was annoyed because he had to try to turn into the street with cars parked on both sides, and this guy being there made it almost impossible to do so. He said so that is him? Yup I said. Well I can't turn with him there so. He called dispatch and they came with a tow truck and the police. They towed him and gave him an obstructing charge ticket (Not sure exact name, been over 40 or more years since) But he never parked there again.
Regarding the final story I'm going to say NTA. My husband has the placard for being disabled. But like he said it was only for about five minutes which isn't a super big deal. The people we don't like are the ones that park there for hours and don't care. Also it was to make sure the fish didn't die, so in my opinion they are completely in the right.
No need to be hours, in this case it was justified, but even 5 minutes is too much when you don’t have the right to park here (I’m talking about highway station for exemple) there is like 2/3 parking spot for disabled, everyone is here for « 5 minutes » but they are the only accessible spot and generally in front of the shop, so people judge that it’s okay to park there when they have more than 20 feet to go to a normal a space. No it’s not, we can’t hardly make turn in the parking lot and before we can have the chance to come back someone else has parked there and chocker, they don’t have the placard either and only « 5 minutes needed » so I’ m not okay with even 5 minutes park, only if it’s an emergency like here it is acceptable. It gets on my nerve so much lately
@@JamesDavy2009 wasn’t me personally but they did a great job i agree , I am a little worried about de Paralympic’s tho, cause Paris isn’t disabled friendly at all
NTA for parking in the spot, it was an emergency and only took 5 minutes to save a life. And it's not like it was a space in front of a hospital or something. If someone thinks a disabled person having to park a bit further to shop or waiting 5 minutes for their spot is more important than saving a life (even a fishes) they're the AH 🙄
Our old neighbors young teen son had a full size diesel truck for some reason. We quickly found out after moving in that he used OUR driveway in the morning to warm it up. He’d start it up, pull it down the street and into our driveway where he’d sit with his lights on, directly shining into our bedroom window, at like 6am. Shut that shit down but wasn’t the last parking issues we’d had with them or in general. One could definitely have called his mother a Karen lol
You'd think that after the first time it got towed, they would have gotten it through their heads. Clearly, the entitlement is strong with this one. However, I'd think that after the second trespass charge, the judge would've said "You know what, this is ridiculous. The next time you park there, it's automatic jail time for you and the kid." But that is in a perfect world.
People with big trucks having to own the road, their neighbors driveways, 2 full lanes of traffic and 4.5 parking spots are the freaking craziest. Maybe don't have a huge truck if you can't handle it???
Always fill the tank with water and several brands of sugar infused drinks BEFORE calling the tow truck when people park in your drive like that. Flat tires in your drive are way to obvious but a destroyed engine leaving the impound lot isn't
If it wasn't a inconvenience, why didn't they clean out their garage and park one of their cars there. And getting a large! Vehicle for their sons first! Car?
This happened to me in Mt. Laurel, NJ while my husband was deployed. I parked my car in my garage and had to drive to work at 6 am. This car was in the driveway and I couldn't leave so I pushed it into the street with my big heavy duty van. This happened over and over again. I asked neighbors if they knew who drove it. Nobody knew. We found out after I finally paid to have it towed and the guy showed up. He had been parking in my driveway in order to stay overnight with his married mistress. By the way, I refused to say what happened to his vehicle. I told him to report it stolen. Well the mistress was married to a cop in that city so I guess he didn't follow up. After two months of this nonsense I never saw him again.
Story 1: The only thing i would do differently would have called the police before calling the tow truck so they would have been there when the truck was towed. Show no mercy
If you dare to risk your own car, you could block your own driveway by parking the car in the street- Boy can't get at his truck and calls the police - you answer the door and say: "sorry I caught a virus and am no longer fit enough to drive my car - noone else is listed as driver on the insurance papers, so it has to sit here for 5 days, until I am up and about again." THAT should teach them, but probably won't 😂 Didn't they learn from the "me too" movement: a NO is a NO and has to be respected (always after the single mothers)
Last Story... Played the story to my wheelchair bound friend that was nearby. She's all for saving the fish. But she might be biased because she has like four big aquariums and adores her fish babies.
Disabled Parking Story: Under normal circumstances, I'd have Called Parking Enforcement on OP for parking in a Disabled Spot without a Placard, however, just this once, I can understand OP's actions in this one case...
Glad to see sense here. "Just" a fish or not, that's money OP spent. You gona pay OP back if the fish didn't make it? No? Hush then. Parking in handicaps is wrong no doubt about it. But if there are zero places to park where do you expect OP to park?
On the fish story: there's a big difference between parking there because you want to get a latte, or go shopping, or just don't feel like walking, and because an animal is in distress and it's an emergency. NTA, and I'm glad he cares about a fishes life because, in my eyes, it means he cares about everyone's lives, including people with disabilities. He was just doing the best he could in a difficult situation
Story 1: OP told the neighbor that any vehicle in her driveway would be towed, therefore knocking on their door is not needed. Good shiny stainless steel spine.
Fish story, I am also disabled and in need of handicapped parking spaces but in situations like this one I wouldn't mind at all having to walk a little further to find another spot even for just a fish.❤
@@casswitt7517 What does that make you? Society exits because most of us can agree to a set of rules to follow. People like you are the problem because at first it will be that goldfish are more important than handicapped people and before long, we'll need LGBTQ parking because they've suffered so much.
Story 2 would be so much easier to understand if we could know if there was multiple disabled parking spots available or not. Personally, NTA. My personal opinion, anyone saying differently is being dramatic. OP would be the AH if they had parked in said spot to BUY the fish. But they were saving the fish and were there for a quick few minutes. That’s all it was. And by the guilt, we can only assume this was a one time thing. So the argument, “what if someone needed it?!?” is irrelevant because as far as we know, we don’t know if there were more spots and what context we were given, there wasn’t anyone who needed it when the event happened. And if it’s a one time thing like we can presume from said guilt, there won’t be another time where someone really needs it. They feel bad. There wasn’t anything more serious than the fish dying from what we know. Don’t try and twist the story by making up context or doing what ifs that the story DOES not state. And like many have stated, you’d react differently if it was your pet. And if you wouldn’t, I question your humanity.
OK in story two let me get this straight as somebody who owns fish and has a handicap placard I don’t think OP did anything wrong I mean, yeah she was parked in a handicap spot, but if she hadn’t done what she did, the fish would’ve died and the fish is a living creature I guaranteed the people who sit there and tell her she should’ve parked further out and just let the fish die the same people who would’ve slammed OP for letting the fish die so it’s kind of a lose lose situation
Neighbor's truck story: ND is definitely a bully who thinks a woman should not be able to defy his request/order. I'd have love to have heard what the police officer told them. But really, who the heck buys their inexperienced driving, 16 year old kid an F-350? For those that don't know, the F-350 has a diesel engine and is extra wide because of the dually wheels on the rear axle. A very poor choice for a 16 year old's first vehicle. Fish parking story: While I normally wouldn't condone anyone without a handicap placard parking in a handicap parking space. you limited yourself to making sure your fish would survive and didn't go shopping elsewhere in the shopping center. I'm going to assume you were prepared to pay the fine if you had been ticketed without argument. If the Karen was so concerned, she should have called the police or parking enforcement. Just try not to have a repeat and if you get any more fish, have them double bagged.
Fish story: If it was indeed quick, then no harm was done in my eyes. Also the Karen saying "You do not look disabled" automatically makes her in the wrong because not every disability is visible and you would think by now people would have that memorized.
Story 1: You refused to give them permission to park on your driveway. Dumbass thought he'd be cute and do it anyway and got caught later that week. You notified that the next time it happened, the truck would be towed. He played stupid games and he won the stupid prize, having to pay the towing fines and pick up his truck. Had you just woken them up after the second time, they would have assumed you were all bark and no bite, and that you wouldn't actually go through with towing the truck. When you make a threat, you back it up which is exactly what you did OP. Kudos to you!. Story 2: I would say that you shouldn't have parked in the disabled parking, so yes you are the asshole. "It was only a few minutes" is not an excuse.
Me being the person that I am, when they would glare at me after that, I would start to take pictures of their scowling faces. I would also install cameras all around my property, because these entitled neighbors could not let OP get away with saying no to their "golden child!"
To say what the homeowner did when she had her neighbor's truck towed from HER DRIVEWAY is extreme!?! I don't think so. When you deal with unreasonable people, you have to protect yourself. Extreme situations, call for extreme measures. Until they feel the pain in their pocketbook. They won't even think about changing their ways. He had hijacked stolen. Whatever you want to call it her driveway and didn't care if her car was parked in her garage. He has decided that her driveway was auxiliary parking for his family. If he wanted to pay her $3,000 a month to rent her driveway go ahead. You know he wouldn't agree to that. So her only recourse was to have his truck towed and he's going to have to deal with that. By doing what he's doing and his wife in agreement, they are raising their son to be disrespectful of other people's property and blowing off the law in effect. Calling her the b word is just one symptom of the problems going on in that household. They're wrong. They have to pay the price for being wrong and maybe this will deter them from never doing it again. It really burned me when he said well. You can get around the truck and I'll move it this time. Meaning as though this was already her driveway he had appropriated it for his own use. I can't get over the goal of some people. This is way past entitled. I don't know what's going on in their heads. Maybe they're brain damaged by getting hit in the head too many times or taking drugs or too much alcohol. I don't know where they come from but wherever it is they don't belong in civilized society. They need to live out in the country on a farm where you see people that have 10 vehicles parked around a barn that are half broken down. That's where they belong. Not in a community that has an HOA? Are you really kidding me?!?!
My opinion: her neighbor is trying to bully her. She needs to continue full legal recourse and complaining to protect herself and her children. In my experiences, the bullying would have intensified into dangerous levels if she relented: such as her children being chased & them running into the street without watching for incoming traffic. I think this man is a dangerous rage acholic and his sons may have sanity issues besides the entitlement issues.
Story 2- I'm severely disabled and am in a wheelchair- YOU ARE NOT THE AHOLE. I give you props for knowing that if you didn't hurry that the life of a pet (even a fish) that is for your child would die. That is a reason in my eyes for you to use the handicapped place. If I had parked and you told me what was happening I'd have moved for you to quickly use the space and stayed to make sure your vehicle remained safe
Story one.... Entitled Neighbor has no concept of "private property", or the meaning of "NO!" 🤨
Getting his truck towed should be the last of his worries.

I don't think having the truck towed was extreme at all. Extreme would have been setting the truck on fire.
That's illegal. I would have called a company from another town far away so there's a massive impound towing and impound fee.
Disposing of a car abandoned on your property is perfectly legal.
@@trilbynhiss it was too close to her house.
flat tires, F350 tires are PRICEY! 🤚🤣

Nice

First post.
That was my thinking exactly about the HOA! So many posts about horrible HOAs, and this was a positive look on an HOA

If I was looking for a spot and saw someone rush into a disabled bay and sprint out of the car with ANY animal, be it a cat or a dog or fish or even a snake, I'd low-key park behind their car and shield it from the cops until they returned, if I had time.
The 16 year old was not taught respect.

100% on the side of OP, she towed the truck perfectly. She warned it would be towed and she had it towed.
OP is NTA for parking there imo, but I do think OP was kinda rude to the lady.
@@DoctorOaks The lady was rude. It was none of her business.
@@DoctorOaks So, let me get this right, stay there and debate with the Disability Gatekeeper, and let the fish run out of water? I would have turned on the flashers and parked to the edge of the road, which would inconvenience EVERYONE!

She could have pinched the leak with her fingers and turned the bag over.

It doesn't have to be a big pickup either. Convertibles and sports cars also fit that bill.
Nice projection.
Do note, I'm not saying the guy was an A-hole. I get it, but he did make some very poor decisions.
18:24 pushback for not going to them and asking to move their truck, 12 in the morning, right
If the op had stolen the spot from under the nose of someone disabled trying to park there, yes, he would be the A-hole.
@@noyou9379 I've seen people do worse in "panic mode". Like running over a dumpster.
At least OP didn't cause property damage.
@@noyou9379 Bag has water and can survive a couple of minutes and not an emergency. A couple of minutes later with less water they need to park now.

Compassion should never be punished, regardless if it was shown toward a person or an animal. Punish compassion, and the person will be less inclined toward kindness and concern for living creatures in the future.
Story 1: I would never buy a teenager a truck. They should have started small
Story 2: Next time, bring a sealable plastic box for the bag.
Anyone who says, "It's just a fish," has obviously never owned a pet and thus doesn't understand the emotional factor.
NO...Call the store and ask them to bring a fresh bag of water out asap!
Good job OP 👏🏻

Story 2 : As a disabled person I find it hilarious! And it was 5 f'in minutes.
Concerning the karen neighbors and the driveway parking, the father felt that he could intimidate op because she was a woman, a single mom, and he a man, could just override her.
I have seen people who have a handicapped sticker park in a regular space because there are no handicapped spaces left.
@@chuckmarciak6115 huh? what it has to do with the comment thread?
Nah.
I'm disabled and I agree that the fish owner is NTA. Fish feel pain and experience basic emotions. Their lives are just as important as any other animals and it absolutely disgusts me how they're treated in pet shops. I can deal with a little discomfort if it means an animal gets to live.
If OP in story 2 had been caught and ticketed for parking there, my hope is they would say, "I deserve it" and pay the fine without complaint.
assuming they'd use the spot for long enough for a law enforcement officer to arrive: seems to me like the OP was only going to be there for as short a time as possible.
@@Gamerghoul19 I don't doubt the OP is putting it up their own twist to stroke their own ego... but can you honestly tell me that it's impossible for anyone to start yelling at the OP unless the OP was there for an extended period of time? @@beirirangu pregnancy or having children isn't a disability though and is not an excuse to park in a handicapped spot. i had an incident like this when I was still living at home.
This guy would park his car across the end of the driveway leaving us no way to get our car out to do anything.
We left notes on the car requesting he not do this.
No luck.
We tried to get the city to tow him, no luck
One day I was coming home on the bus with my favorite bus driver, i mentioned the problem to him. (I had talked to him for about a decade or so)
Just then we got to the corner where we turned to go down my street, and he was annoyed because he had to try to turn into the street with cars parked on both sides, and this guy being there made it almost impossible to do so.
He said so that is him?
Yup I said.
Well I can't turn with him there so.
He called dispatch and they came with a tow truck and the police.
They towed him and gave him an obstructing charge ticket (Not sure exact name, been over 40 or more years since)
But he never parked there again.

I would let him park in my driveway for 1200$ a month and I would park in the street.

Too many cars

OK in story two let me get this straight as somebody who owns fish and has a handicap placard I don’t think OP did anything wrong I mean, yeah she was parked in a handicap spot, but if she hadn’t done what she did, the fish would’ve died and the fish is a
living creature I guaranteed the people who sit there and tell her she should’ve parked further out and just let the fish die the same people who would’ve slammed OP for letting the fish die so it’s kind of a lose lose situation
Wow an HOA thats helpful!!!!

Story 2: I will **GLADLY** park in a disabled spot and pay the fine, if it means saving an innocent life.

Big Ahole. That fish is not more important than a human.
Too many damn cars for a family, like what 😂 unreasonable, even.
Story 1- nothing extreme about getting illegally parked vehicles off your private property
Daily dose of Fluff, happy Taco Tuesday everyone!
Happy Tuesday!
