They seriously need to bring back Saab as an automotive brand in it's entirety. Thanks for the video.
We wish! There's a few prototype 9-3s from NEVS been sent to Sweden recently. All electric versions.
Saab is packed with Easter eggs. Every now and then a new trick. Thanks. I'll definitely check this one. Brilliant!
Glad you liked it! I love the Easter Egg analogy. I might have to "borrow" that off you next time I find one 🤘🤘
@@CycloneCyd
Be my guest. Cheers.
Thank you Cyd I now know my car has only 2 keys programmed to her which are sitting on my table right this minute. Keep up the good work, Great channel.
Thanks, will do!
With chinese tech2s available and various very sketchy garages working on SAABs since some "official" SAAB garage may not be found nowhere nearby, this is a very good information. Check it after every work done on the car. It also works with the old generation of 93 and 95.
Thanks for that tip, Peter. Very true
Thanks 😃 - Another very informative video - checked mine - 2 keys programmed - which I have 👌
Great to hear!
Thanks was waiting for this. Knew it would be a knowledgeable video as usual. Good to know this info
Glad you enjoyed it! Ah, well, ex Rover Group Door Systems you see. I engineered the mechanical security system for Range Rover 38A in the early 90s and co-chaired the "Security Action Team". I've been bangin' on about always having two keys and this issue for donkeys years on forums of one sort or another (Honest John Backroom for 20 years, but it's crap now the 'armchair engineers' have taken over)
That is one thing i really didn't know thanks for sharing mate
No problem 👍
Thanks, that was nice to know. Im gonna check in my 9-3 2004 in the morning. 👍
Glad I could help with some learning 🎓 don't forget to share the info
Nice work Cyd. Yes the saabs are full of tricks. Your finding them nicely. Check out the rear brake light guys if you haven't already ! That's very clever how it substitutes another bulb for the one that's out !! Great vid- top guy. 😎👍
Isn't it just 👍. Yeah, the rear brake light trick is a great safety aid, but it fools so many people into thinking there's summat up with the electrickery
How do i check that trick out?
Thanks! Very important !
You bet!
This is excellent ! Thank you so much again 👌
You're very welcome!
12 years a saab 9-3 owner and member of all the online groups, and this is the 1st time I've heard about this. Brilliant !
I'm 56 soon, been a Professional Automitive Engineer all my life (until JLR threw their contract Engineers under the bus last month). Still learning! There's summat new every day. Today's lesson? Took my Wife's C1 for MoT - one of the number plate lights was out. Ggggrrr!!! Still passed. Why? Because it's a pass as long as there is at least one working. Result! Still got to fix it, of course, but saves me going back.
@@CycloneCyd I'm really sorry to hear about your JLR treatment, the global automotive industry is in it's biggest ever mess, I often wonder that the Swedish government saw the writing on the wall with Saab, and chose not to fund the manufacturing as they had done historically. I wasn't aware of the JLR move, of course the media have a bigger story just now. Where would I find an accurate representation of the ins and outs ? Good luck, these wee how to's are excellent.
Jaw dropped. Are you ex Saab employee knowing all these easter eggs or is it knowledge gained from Saab forums?
Amazing tip Cyd!!!! Thank you!
Any time!
Cool. I will try it.
Did it work?
Wow!!! That's a great feature!!!
Isn't it just❗ Being able to check you have all the remotes for your car and that there isn't some scrote with one out there somewhere is awesome.
Thank you
You're welcome
Thanks 😊
No problem 😊. That Arabic writting is beautiful. Does your name have an English translation?
Thank you ✔👋🏻
I recently added a new fob to my SAAB 93 using my TECH 2 because I had a broken fob, can you clarify that when doing that the method for adding a new key automatically deletes the non functioning key?
when adding new, you actually need all of your old ones with you, that you want to remain programmed.
Like Peter says, any keys you do not have with you when programming will automatically be disabled for the car.
Wow, this is a great little easter egg! How did you find out about these little software easter eggs?
I searched and I searched and I searched and I searched and I searched .... you get the idea
They still sell the keys, but don't cut them anymore, so you'll have to get that done locally now
I need help with my saab 9-3 2007 2.0T has a theft light occurring when. Starting and have codes p1616 p1609
Thanks. It's good advice 👍
I'm wondering if you could help me urgently. I'm all the way in New Zealand with a saab 93, a key that won't work and a 4 digit number I can't find. I'm really hoping you can assist as I need to reprogramme a key and we have no saab specialists or dealerships in New Zealand.
Have you tried re-synching the remote? (I assume you mean remote, not key). I've a video showing how.
What is this 4 digit number you are trying to find?
My brother has a 06 9-3 1.8t 5spd n lost his key fob whats the cheapest way to get the car to start again
Find the key❗ seriously
Otherwise, he needs a CIM with a working key and someone with tech2 who's willing to come to the car And if the car is locked a new pane of glass.
Hi Cyclone,
How do I reprogram the car to the keys I have?
You can't. Used keys cannot be reused with a different car. You need new keys.If you are in GB, contact Ron, facebook.com/ron.doodle.52
Bugga! Didn't work for me, but my only hob is dodgy. Better order a couple more.
I was reading about it.. In my case i have only one key according to the former owner they only had one but theres been times the trunk will be unlock st night i checked locked by the morning unlock?
Get yourself a second key. *Seriously!*
Is there a way to do this on a pre-2007 with the Sid up on the dash?
This method is the same for ALL 9-3SS from 2003 model year on.
What would be a valet key on the Saab 93?
Anyone with tec2 very close to Durham or Newcastle plzz.
join facebook.com/groups/818113935207573/ and ask there. There is bound to be someone nearby.
@@CycloneCyd thank you really.
Does anyone know if the cheeper Chinese tec2 £ 250 ish works ok?
ruclips.net/video/PIgQJeFK8PU/видео.html
Sorry chap, but I don't. Personally I think the best thing is to find someone near you with it. Join Saab Nuts! group on Facebook and ask there. I'm in it too.
Yes it is do everything as original tool
Yes but use must used a hacked version of global TIS or TIS 2000 on either a laptop running XP or a virtual XP running on a newer operating system to be able to get security access for the Saab. If the computer does not have a serial port you have to get a suitable serial to USB adapter. Good info here www.tech2wiki.com/doku.php
Hi Cyd, I’ll need to buy 2 extra complete keys but the blades keys that comes along with the fob are most of the times with bad design so the handle leaves a gap between the fob and the blade when assembled plus a bit o play so the blade jiggles when you shake the fob, and they’re made of hard plastic, not rubber coated as my keys. Do you know where I can source the oem fob with good rubber handle blade keys ? The rubber of my blades is starting to deteriorate and I’d like to replace them. Thank you

Cyclone Cyd seems good quality, with symbols dual injected white on black, as mine. But is the handle of the blade hard plastic or rubber?
@@LDantinhas exactly as per the OE item, hard plastic with a soft TPE overmolding
Cyclone Cyd that’s the one 👌
@@LDantinhas That link just does the case and mechanical keys with a key cutting service (all of which are very good). If you also need new PCBs try here bit.ly/Saab_PCB so you can build fully brand new remotes, but will need to have it 'keyed' into the car with Tech2. I haven't tried the board myself yet, but I will do and will make a review video. if you do try one (and at 12 quid, worth a go) let me know how you get on
Hi Cyclone, FYI, regarding the heat protection of the ECU. A kit is supplied here in Aus that does the job well, (and has some vibration protection too) I had it fitted to my 2006 by John at JB Prestige in Melbourne. Seems a good product. I found another Saab-ie has posted about it, and I attach the link.
All the best from Sydney, (ex Nottm , so not far from your part of the world at a guess :) r's
ruclips.net/video/-it-U7ZK0ug/видео.html
Thanks for the info! That's very similar to what I was going to do, but I wasn't going to use rubber mounts. I'll still do my video as my scheme differs in a few details. Also that kit seems expensive.
I have an ex-uni buddy now lives in Sydney (regulars at Manley sailing club) and yeah, I'm just north of Rugby.
@@CycloneCyd Yup, kit is pricey for sure. (was recommended it be fitted as average temps here are challenging (to say the least) for a vehicle... Saabs have great aircon to be fair. I know Manly fairly well as am on the North Shore area. (Hope you bought your car back at a well decent price, ) m
@@goodgriefmike yeah, I get how this type of failure could be more prevalent in Aus. We do see them here though. Heat is the big enemy. Thes engines are very smooth so vibration shouldn't really be an issue. I might copy their idea with the anti vibe mounts though. I was gonna just use solid studs.
I have two, but can only find one of them... One of the connectors to the battery is broken, so the buttons does not work, and I am just waiting for the day when my car wont accept it :(
Ooooh!! You MUST MUST MUST have two working keys. Can you not solder the battery connection back onto the board? Or get a cheap replacement board?
Cyclone Cyd If I get a replacement board I will need to program it with a Tech 2 right? I have been thinking about soldering it, but I am afraid to mess up and be stuck with no keys :(
@@xXFuZeSnipeZzXx Tech2 yes. I can point you to replacement board later when I'm home
