    Never read the book, but hearing his story from you make me like him even more! Why would the producer choose to change that epic version to settle for this teen mediocre version is unbelievable

    Cole is a character being sacrificed and used by the feudal system of society that does not care of any individuals life, Cole’s actions against the Blacks is perceived to be as villainous, even though some see him as a hero for the Greens, and as a villain for the Blacks. So I believe that he was always meant to be the villain not by choice, but by force and persuasion.
    I heavily support Rhaenyra for her claim to the throne, but her actions against Criston Cole and what she did when she was a teenager, i heavily do not agree with or condone her for that. Why? Because she made a huge reckless mistake of endangering someone who was very loyal to her and would’ve done the same things for her and her children.
    But I do not support, and I do not like Criston Cole because he is a Knight with false honor, and what he believes in his own mind is what’s right for the kingdom and what’s right for himself I did not buy into the first scene when we saw him because from his book counterpart, some of the things remain true about him. I see his actions towards Reynera is coming from a place of spite, bitterness and hatred. It’s not loves, and I honestly believe he should’ve just left the Kings guard after what happened with Rena and when she rejected him if he couldn’t handle it mentally and emotionally then he should’ve just left either to Essos or go to the Night’s Watch.

    Ive never been a fan of Criston Cole, or Rhanerya, and ive been reading the books since the late 90s. Ive read every single book multiple times before either show cane out. Ive still said these many of these exact same things about Criston Cole tho. That the show wasnt at all an accurate portrayal of him. But i also dont ever expect the movie or TV renditions of a novel to be anything like the story it originated as in the books. Very rarely are TV and movie versions of stories as good or as accurate as their book counterparts.

      You can ABSOLUTELY defend him💯💯‼️
      She GROWN REGARDLESS…💯‼️
      She was 18 in episode 4(the Episode where she sexually Assaulted criston)
      Last Time She was underage was episode 3!!
      She was 17 in episode 3 & episode 4 takes place a year later!!
      ALSO Criston Didn’t Even Wanna Do It…💯💯
      Criston literally said STOP Which means NO & TRIED to LEAVE‼️
      SWITCH the ROLES & the MAN gets ALL of the BLAME💯💯‼️
      She RUINED the THING he put his ENTITE SELF WORTH into Potna…💯💯‼️
      If somebody says NO & Then you "seduce" them, Its Not Seduction. Its Coercion & R*pe!!
      It’s not really the same….
      Alicent wasn’t married where as rhaenyra was about to be…
      ALSO
      The criston from over 20 years ago is different than the present day one.
      Criston was fresh on a existential crisis over having the thing he put his entire self worth into FOREVER Ruined.
      The younger criston considered his self image and views himself as a good and honorable knight.
      After having the thing he put his entire self worth into forever ruined, he gradually stopped giving a 💩 about this image.
      He had great views on honour and a life as a kings guard. Those expectations for himself have been broken. His vow has been broken for a long time now so he uses his own code & creed to make his way in the world now. He can't regain anything. The deed is done.

      He definitely didn't say that. Neither of the tv shows has anything to do with the book canon, it's a completely separate universe.

    • @swayback7375
      @swayback7375 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@drachentopf5470I don’t think grrm has said hotd is a separate universe, and so far he’s been quite involved.
      I haven’t heard him say hotd is canon, but he definitely did say the book was written by maesters that weren’t present, or even alive during the dance, while we’re actually watching these events unfold on the show.
      That’s basically saying show cannon trumps book cannon in this case…
      I was only able the watch the got tv by telling myself it’s 2 different stories with different characters who share names.

    • @drachentopf5470
      @drachentopf5470 7 месяцев назад +5

      @@swayback7375 He said many times, including in an interview about hotd, that there are two separate cannons, the book cannon and the show cannon. And I wouldn't say that he's "quite involved" in the show. He's only there as an advisor. He has absolutely no control over the decisions, and the showrunners can just ignore anything he says. And it seems that's what they mostly do. And I am not saying that the book is 100% accurate, but it's definitely a more relevant information about what "actually happened" than a show that's not even a part of the same cannon.

    I think the structure off the argument doesn't work. It's kinda hes not like that in the books, so he shouldn't be considered as he is portraid in the show. you can critizise the portraid of the carrecter in comperison to the books but not the reactions to the portraid character with the book. In addition aure there is a power imbalance. But that doesn't free him of his personal respawnsabillities. I think that's why he struggles. He knows he broke his oath, he hates himselve for it. He copes by hating Rhaenyra. I think they ruined it a bit when they made him kill somebody at a feast. I can't see how he still has his head and even less why he has the cloak. But they did, which makes him a homicidal mainiac. And I agree that the book character sounds more interesting but that doesn't change how he is in the series.

    Vikings is better than house of the dragon because in vikings every character is hero for example ivar and bjorn but in hotd only rhayneera and her allies are shown good while greens are shown evil.

    Yo. Grrm straight up said the books are written by flawed people, maesters that weren’t alive and wrote it after, or accounts they heard from small folk, while the show is actually following those characters live the story.
    I think that’s saying, in this specific instance that show cannon beats book cannon every time.
    Honestly it’s the only way the show has a chance at being good, the book is dry, short of details and no dialogue, so it’s perfect to fill all that stuff in on the show.

  • @JustAnotherAccount8
    @JustAnotherAccount8 7 месяцев назад +2

    No, already off to a bad start. I adore Aemond and Otto, yet I hate the greens, and I think that's a common sentiment. People hate Cole because he's self centered (Refuses Rhaenyras proposal to continue their affair under the pretense that the kings guard is all he has to his name, but before that, he asks Rhaenyra to go to essos with him and abandon her name... kinda hypocritical) and he's also fickle. He despises rhaenyra and calls her a spoilt c*nt (remember, he CHOSE to sleep with her, she was 18, he was around 22-31 at the time, GRRM's lore book says he is 16 years older, so he could be as old as 34 at the time shes 18) or something, but in one of the later episodes he says all women are made in the image of the mother (one of the gods) and should be spoken of with reverence, again hypocritical.
    He beats a guy to death over a proposed alliance of secrecy and gets no repercussions, he kills a member of the council in the presence of the most powerful people and gets no repercussions, it's hinted that he sleeps with Alicent but at the very least loves her, and is basically the embodiment of a white knight (armour and all) or incel.
    You seem to be relying on the book for evidence, but you have to remember that the whole point of the book is to give unreliable narration, and is supposedly written AFTER the Targaryen rule... by a Maester (aka the people who hate Targaryens and have bias towards the Hightowers)

    • @GhengisGoon
      @GhengisGoon 6 месяцев назад +18

      He hates Rhaenyra because he realised she was just using him as sex toy and never had any true feelings for him. To just label him as an incel is a very lazy character assessment. Besides, he's literally the opposite of a incel.

    • @NoFILanthropy98
      @NoFILanthropy98 4 месяца назад

      You're just another butthurt person who hates him because of your personal feelings. Rhaenerya is like Matt Lauer and Harvey Weinstein. The fact you can't see that is because of your double standards regarding men and women.
