I'm a Brit and spent my working life constructing tunnels around the world, you've just sailed over one of them. Back in the 70s after the 6-day war Egypt decided the build a road tunnel about 10 miles up from the Suez entrance. Our living camp was a 15 min walk from the canal and we'd spend some time watching the ships pass along, a very strange sight-seeing the desert and a ship going along. We had a couple of sailing dinghies house in a container next to a police post on the Bitter Lakes and that was where I learnt to sail, in those days there were several rusting hulks from that recent war. We also had an Egyptian Army bomb disposal unit stationed with us and as the wind uncovered the mines etc., they would be taken care of.
I spent 7 years working on different tunnel projects in Egypt and The Bond Film, The Spy Who Loved Me, now that was great fun.
So, thank you for reminding me of that time.
Great Story :)
Interesting life - thanks fr sharing man!
@Repent and believe in Jesus Christ Why not just believe in GOOD.?
My family was on a ship sailing from Karachi to Liverpool in late 1956. I was 8. We had left Aden and were almost to the Suez canal when the ship did a 180 degree turn and cranked up the speed. A war had just started.
@@roadie3124 Spent 10 days sailing from Liverpool to Takoradi, W. Africa as a family, my father was a quarry manager supplying stone to build a bauxite loading pier at the above harbour. Returned to UK 18 months later aboard a BOAC 4 prop aircraft from Accra refueling at Tripoli and Rome landing at a very quiet Heathrow. In good time the watch the coronation on aunties TV.
You can tell how great of a mom Renee is. You’re awesome.
Keith is another one of your fake accounts that is strictly to keep the wifey happy🤔🧐🤨😛😂😂
Renee, that intro was absolutely brilliant. Safe travels to you and yours!
Thank you!!!
Guys, I admit we haven't watched you guys as religiously (used to be our Sunday tradition) since we started our own sailing journey, but sitting here bobbing on anchor, and listening to you guys banter, make tacos and just talk makes me remember why we have enjoyed your channel so much over the years. You helped give us courage to take on this crazy journey despite having had no experience. You normalized it for us. Thank you thank you thank you.
Please never retire the adventures y’all are my favorite RUclipsrs. Stay safe and have fun!! Very jealous😊
I love Renee! Also Jack being excited about a “fun” (rough) crossing reminds me a bit of Riley from la vagabonde 😂 best of luck and well wishes! 💗
Really loved this episode, and it was nice that Wilson made a surprise cameo.
That was fun!
I love all of their episodes and yes Wilson made a surprise cameo but at the same time it is disturbing because I know the real reference of Wilson with the red face on the ball look up frazzle drip
Thank you for the ocean view shots.
More 180° and 360° will be appreciated by us landlocked people.
Thank you.
Absolutely best family sailing channel,. your kids will grow to appreciate what you have done for them.
I think Keith could use a boat buddy 😂 not easy being the guy who fixes everything!
He’s got his family…
@@johnphillips8088 Jack and Finn are there...should be able to do it
That's what he has Jack and Finn for
We've been so excited for this episode! It initially looked so stressful getting into the canal, glad it went smoothly. We were hoping to hear more about Egypt, next time?
Shout out to the Marie Sharp’s! Looks like it’s been a Zatara staple for a while! Good stuff.
The intro was breathtaking, I can tell you put a lot of effort into editing this yall got to do a lot of boat watching and sight seeing while on the water! I'm not sure how often yall see soo many boats but must've been a treat! That huge wave from the cargo ship was soo satisfying to see. It's all so beautiful
Rena is a awesome beautiful mother, wife & all around person. So smart ,kind , & loving to her family. We all are so very proud ,happy & so lucky for y'all to share your adventures life. Prayers of love, life ,happiness & safety on the high seas .
Thank you for allowing us who don’t get to go on adventures to be able to travel with you. It gives us such pleasure. I so enjoy each place you take us too. Thank you for taking the time to share your lives with us.
Special thanks to Mom René! Thanks for your nice and discret care for your Family! Love!
i love that you have Lurpak "smør" feel a bit proud.
I was 8 years old when we sailed through the Suez Canal, and I have memory of it being narrower in parts. I was so keen to see this video, but can't say I remembered much at all, seems it was larger open waters than I remembered. As an adult I have been on the viewing deck of the Panama Canal, but would love to sail through it, with all it's locks.
Beautiful new intro! Great to be able to see the Suez Canal crossing and that food looked delicious. Thanks for taking us all along for the ride. Blessings and much Aloha 🙏💜🌎☮️🌎💜🙏⚓️🛥🐳
Thanks for keeping me great company while I do my workout. I always learn something from you lovely people.
I never want these episodes to end
I always watch your videos during breakfast here in Canada, I literally just finished Finn's most recent video and was looking for something else to watch... great timing! Thanks!!
Well I am a big fan and need to thank you for all your adventures!
I am retired and available to go anywhere + would consider myself as seasoned sailor 😊
I can help mechanically or navigating for a few sandwich a day! ❤
I never get tired of watching your adventures.
Excellent photographer…excellent family…excellent passing❤
Oh, how I wish you all would write a book! I am a big reader and it would be one of my favorites!!
1st ever seen footage of any boat traveling the Suez and the waters of the Red Sea. Very interesting! Thanks for bringing us along!
Fascinating! Thank you for taking us with you!
Excellent show and super interesting. Gosh, you guys live the life of Robinson and Caruso-an adventure every day. Stay safe! See ya next week. ⛵️
What an amazing experience for your family. They will be so grounded visiting other countries and cultures. I was an International Flight Attendant and was fortunate to see the world. I wish this family safe and happy travels.. A M A Z I N G
What I love about this channel as well as sailing Florence is that that actually sail places, some channels just talk about getting bigger and better boat for years
Love the video, always do! Enjoy the whole aspect you’re providing, in-depth enough, but not over explaining what is going on! Looking forward to next episode!
Great video Renee!! Safe travels Zatara Crew!!❤️🙏🏻
Good job transiting the canal never had the opportunity but have used the Panama Canal on several occasions. Looking forward to next weeks episode.
We LOVE the sounds and sights of the ocean...beautiful...
A truly adventurous family. A real treat to follow you on RUclips. Thank You for sharing your journey with us!
Your channel is very therapeutic for me and your whole family are so sweet, continue to create your magic ✨
Never would have thought this would be stress free. I’ve seen it so many times but I prefer your views . Thanks for sharing.
As always, another groovy sailing adventure. Glad all is going well in travels to this part of the world. You are very open minded people, and that is a big reason why you are all so cool. Stay safe and stay groovy.
This is the most soothing show ever! I can not stop watching and i am all over the place watching you guys!
Everytime time I watv this wonderful family they are motoring. I hardly see them sailing. Great kids!!!
When you tied up to the dock half way through the canal, did the Pilot stay the night on the boat with you or did he get off and join you again the next day?
Glad you guys had an easy passage through the Suez. Nothing shows "easy passage" like Keith on the cabin roof!
Looking forward to your sailing video to Cyprus. Should be a nice layover before your move to Turkey.
U guys just rock, keep doing what u doing
Thank you for doing this every Thursday so I can get my ocean and sailing fix.
Love these guys. So interesting and informative, I look fwd to them weekly
You guys are such a pleasure to watch!
Wow! I stumbled across your channel and I am mesmerized by your lifestyle! Passing through the Suez Canal with the family. I can only imagine. Thanks for sharing your life with us!
Another great video!! This next show looks like it gets a little adventurous, prayers for safe travels, smooth wind and calm seas
Great passage. Pls stay safe. Excited about next week’s craziness. Thanks. 👍🇺🇸🙏
i really admire this family it is a whole inspiration to me
Renee you make the best videos ! Love how you capture things and the music you add is superb.
Cheers from New Zealand 🇳🇿
What a fun 21 minute trip! Thanks!
It’s fun to watch and really see how things look- I liked looking at the sues canal! Thanks
You probably will not read this but i highly recommend going to Malta on your mediterranean adventure. Truly a forgotten gem in europe. Your kids will have great fun there because a lot of teens and young adults come there from all over the world to learn english. They also have amazing beaches, water and incredible ancient historic sites older then the pyramids in Egypt. Oh and they also have tons of american supermarkets on the Island where you can find a lot of supplies you probably remember from home. Wish you safe travels and all the best
Very good!! Thanks!
Great video. That was a fun trip. Take care and we’ll see you on the next one. 👍❤️
Thanks for another great episode! Safe travels!
Excellent video. The last time I was in the Gulf of Suez, we got into a storm that kicked up the sea to 20-25 foot swells. What a night that was on our 165 foot exploration boat. I think it was in April, 1981. Thanks again for an excellent video.
Nostalgic - the Suez Canal, took my submarine, Southbound, crossed that bridge at 0630 H in the morning. Still remember all that vividly!! Thanks Zataraians!!
This was a pretty simple one and still I enjoyed it much. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Wow crossing into the Mediterranean Sea - so exciting!
What an incredible experience.
Love it those life styles, another great part of Zatara
Great dad and great mom..Keith and renee---awesome parents...Jack finn, and katie, beautiful children... God bless the Z family
Hello from landlocked Kansas. Although, I love Kansas.
I never knew people travel like this, but this is so cool
We Love Sailing Zatara, oh and Crew Of Course.
Thanks for sharing. 🤗
Awesome! thanks!
Well done on winning Renee!!
Always nice to see you guys underway….and…. FOOOOOD!👍
All those evergreen containers.wow.
Great to hear you enjoyed your trip through suez it’s many years since I last made that trip.
Reminded me of how very wonderful it is to dine and prepare meals on trimaran...even in fairly rough seas. Thanks again for letting me come along.
I miss this family.. always watch here in ytube. I'm your avid fan..of your family.
I'm from the philippines. Always take careful keep safe....
Beautiful!
Someone might have alreday mentioned this, but I remember a year or two ago when that large ship ran aground in the canal and held up shipping for several days. Glad you all made it through OK.
Great episode, neat intro with nice music, nicely paced. Fair winds.
I love seeing your adventures.
Can’t tell you how much I appreciate all the work you put into these vids … and they are so much fun to watch - even the most mundane stuff just never gets boring - and I LOVE the food stuff … LOL!!! I know making these things is a ton of work … and I just want to say thank you.
Loved it! I’m behind! Looking forward to the next one.
i love these vlogs, such a great way to spend a life travelling by the sea. Safe travels to you all may Allah protect you at sea. Love from England.
Love your videos! Nice cliff hanger at the end, can't wait to tune in next week to see what happens!😀
Great video , nice to see your transit of the Marlboro canal was stress free , done it countless times in the big guys, certainly not stress free .
That wave from the cargo ship was quite a sight... That it travels so far!
safe travels to you and yours!
Thanks for sharing, so nice too watch. Greetings from Stockholm 😊
Great video! Renee, you do a good job every week.
Safe travels to your family, and thank you for sharing your wonderful sailing lives. You all are pro's now, you've been doing so long. It's very enjoyable to watch your teens mature, in there sailing lives on board Zatara.😂😂😂
Love it Love it Love it
Great video
Looking forward to the next one!
Keep Them coming
Stay safe
Great Ep!
Fun times as always!
You made the Suez look so easy we are definitely running that ditch! Oh and Instant coffee is a DEAL KILLER. No ma’am. We will take sacks of beans before we start snorting freeze dried. Thanks for the effort you put into the graphics and opening sequences. Love This Channel!
New to your channel and binge watching your journey. While we use our boat in Hawaii waters only and aren’t boating international waters I can tell everyone watching that Keith makes the logistics look so effortless but it is a complicated equation of weather monitoring, navigating, timing etc etc etc to ensure they’re safely sailing away.
I love boat life but it’s not for everyone. Your family is a fine tuned crew and impressive how the kids work as a crew. The well traveled experience the kids are acquiring through learning and respecting different cultures and being self sufficient will set them up for anything they choose to do. These videos are so well done. Excellent editing Renee! The intro music is so good, it gets stuck on loop in my head.
Finns channel is awesome. If you type Finn into search his channel pops up first. His music is amazing!!! Everyone should check it out also.
I think Jack needs his own channel with all the extreme water sports he seems to excel at.
Safe sailing. Aloha from Kauai🤙~~~~Kiki🌺
Momma keeps the show going, & Keith is "pilled." Love watching the adventure all.
GenX ftw.
That was a great adventure and it looked quite beautiful. Now, a new adventure….that teaser at the end about trouble with the sails is quite the cliffhanger. 😳. Hugs to a great family!❤️🇺🇸
That was great to see the trip through the Suez. Enjoy the final leg of the circumnavigation!
i never get bored watching you videos🙂
omgosh imadgin how happy I was to wake up and see Renee posted another video 😮😊 what a lovely surprise ,I love this family..and I absolutely love this family / and there life .I wouldn't be upset at all if there was a video posted everyday as I'm sure many others would be oh so pleased as well I realize it's very time consuming so I understand altho. I got to say Renee your filming is amazing no different than watching a television show momma knows what she doing and she films like a boss ..Well as always be safe out there my favorite family
