Hey thanks!!!
Have been watching now for months and have been impressed with The Master and Commander, Keith! His knowledge of every aspect of that catamaran is close to unbelievable. It appears that he researches every little detail to understand its function and its relation to what is before it and after it. I am 87 and retired Navy and would be proud to work around and with someone like that. God bless you Keith and your wonderful family. I will be watching for many months and, perhaps, years of your adventures. Fair winds, smooth sailing and following seas......
👍👍👍❤️
Sir I have watched this family traverse the globe for years. Their adventures are nothing less than inspiration and their realness is something to takes notes to live by. ✨️❤
Go back to where they began and watch they are awesome family !!
Master and Commander was a great movie
🌵🌵💀💀👍👍🌵🌵 Same thoughts !!! Old retired Navy here too.
Keith is literally a master of all trades.😮 He can fix, repair, install, or figure out anything. Nice catch Renee 😉and vice versa. Renee you compliment him in every way. You too are a great catch.
That is EXACTLY why he is a multi, multi millionaire!
Yep a true Yellow Pages at Sea !☎
Keith made the right catch with Renee...she IS the wind beneath his and the family's wings...final score...a winning team.
@@rinkrude1wow beautifully said frfr
I'm very impressed how Kate is always willing to help with projects or handling dock lines. She is a good first mate.
Keith is the man you want on your boat... His knowledge to engines, electrical, repairs etc is remarkable..
Rene, you have this ability to take every video you shoot and turn it into a story. I feel like I've been watching this long soap opera over the years but only better. You even leave us with cliff hangers sometimes so we have to tune in next week. As usual great video!
I know right!!❤❤
The smile on Renee's face right at the end. One happy lady, she has the kitchen sink she wanted. Yet again Kate has impressed me with her skills and willingness to get in and get the job done.
Hey Rene, my name is Sam, male 28. I love how excited you were for your new sink. It’s makes my heart full. I see my mom a lot in you. She passed 2 years ago and just things like this made her so happy. And I was able to do things like how Keith does for you. Anywho just wanted to share with you. Enjoy your kitchen, it came out nice. Great work.
Every boat needs a "Keith". His skillset is seemingly endless.
Watching your husband work on the boat is like watching a kid with a brand new Lego set to build. He loves it, and you are trying to avoid stepping on all the pieces! I have learned more than I ever thought I would about boats from watching your channel. Love it all!
The upgrades are impressive but I’m in awe of how your “kiddos” pitched in to help. Kate’s dive to help with holding back the water and then helping with the sink 👍🏽. Most kids won’t even lift their fingers.
they are "Kiddos" but actually the 3 of them are valued crew mates and the smooth running of Zatara is due to good leadership and the entire crew working as a team.
Is good that you are working to a time when they leave the boat .
Does Kate have plans to leave and go back to shore living for schooling or work?
I'm always amazed at Keith! He's a"Jack of all trades" & Zatara is so tricked out now!
I've grown to love each of you... Blessings to ALL you Whitakers, in each of your new paths❣️
P.S. Renee, Another great episode & your kitchen looks 💯 awesome
You know you're over 50 when installing a new sink and fixtures makes you happy! Awesome new kitchen sink Rene' and Keith!
Huge Kitchen upgrade, it is so much better! I LUV IT! Good job Momma Zatara
That sink will make washing dishes a pleasure, LOL.
Kitchen looks great! Love the sink, looks like a Blanco, I sold those years ago when I worked at plumbing n hardware design. They're great sinks and will hold up well. Happy kitchening Rene!
Yet another interesting video reflecting a cross section of the realities of boating maintenance. Not surprised to see Kate providing intelligent assistance to Keith, with her quiet get it done personality. She has the smarts to be a captain someday and will have accumulated a wealth of marine life skills and technical knowledge through active participation. Keith and Renee must be proud.
Awesome job on all levels!!
20:09 *LOL Funny 👀 Renae! Keith is acting all cool about the kiddos leaving soon but we all know he’ll be the one blubbering the hardest when they’re gone! 😳😂*
Miss Renee Mr Keith I LOVE YOUR FAMILY AND HOW EVERYONE JUST JUMPS IN AND HELPS AND ENJOYS IT Kate helping her dad the boys helping dad and just DOING IT its so damn BEAUTIFUL
i love how miss kate is not afraid of anything she jumps right in there and helps with anything that needs to be done
Come watch us buy a catalina 30 and bring her back to life! Thanks Zatara for giving so much inspiration to strive for this life on the water!
Renee --You might like to have a 'cutting board' made, to drop into that sink, like the dish rack... just in case you need some extra counter space (or to actually cut food), while you're not washing dishes.
Keith -- I like all the cameras you added... maybe one or two at the top of the mast? Also, how long before you install a couple of pumps/holding tanks, to drain and fill the oil, at the flip of a switch, LOL?
You should not worry about the narrowminded people, I’ve been watching your videos for years, I found them very entertaining and look forward to them, your kids are a credit to you, I wish you all the best all of you, from a fan from Queensland Australia.
Happy wife = Happy life. And the kitchen she wants is key to ensuring the equation stays balanced. Now Keith just needs his engines, and all will be well.
I love that sink! Beautiful!! I look forward to seeing the complete engines.
I remember when Anna left, thinking how are they going to manage? But the kids have more than stepped up to the plate and are learning and growing all the time. Soon it will be the next iteration of Zatara and Keith & Renee will thrive in the next chapter!
🙏🏼💕💕
What a treat to have a man in the house who can fix you everything.😅Lucky Renée😊
We won't recognize Zatara when she leaves the dock! All these new additions and upgrades.
As a person who loves spending time in the kitchen....I'm in love with the improvements you have made there. I really love the white tile panels you added. Really brightens the place up.
I think Keith enjoys fixing stuff as much as he likes sailing!
Love the new sink! It’s perfect! That small, round sink was ridiculous.
Hubby is a contractor and has tons of saws and other power tools. He likes Makita over DeWalt but he uses his tools literal everyday so he likes the durability and the ability to use the batteries across all his tools.
Damn y’all killing me I want to see them new engines run.
Keith in his element! I love it, great job.
G'day Renee, I reckon your excitement and enthusiasm was quite evident, when you finally got your new sink. Nice job with the fitment 👍. Good onya Renee ;) Your expression reminded me quite vividly of me wife's sheer joy, after surprising her with a new sink, faucet, and countertops for our catamaran. In order to continue peace & harmony, while on passage, I must continue to remember: Happy Wife...Happy Life 😁 LOL. The sink is an absolute beaut...Nice choice. Good luck with the rest of your upgrades and maintenance. Take care and many blessings! Cheers from Western Australia 🇦🇺.
All the projects reminds me of my motorhome, endless maintenance.
Whoever is lucky enough to inherit this boat after the Zatara family has used it, is going to get one fully kitted out, pampered and fully spec'd out cats on the water!! Full credit to Capt Keith and the rest of the guys/gals for getting the work done.
Onwards and upwards people!
Whatever video equipment you’re using, plus your skills at operating it… is seriously impressive!
Looks like a professional Hollywood production.
Great watching Kate help her Dad in the projects - good stuff...
Keith’s knowledge is amazing, he is an encyclopedia of all moving parts on that Catamaran, it’s excellent to watch him, in his element. Loving these videos, of the new parts being installed. Congratulations Kate, on your Scuba certification, Keith’s & Renee, you have a very clever family, for such a young age. Will this help Kate, when herself & Jack, go on there next question, in the next few months.
One valuable thing I learned from my friend that served in Submarines was rubber washers between metal in metal contact for vibration isolation, noise resistance. Is shocking how a few bits of rubber can make such a huge amount of difference with quality of life. For that sink I would find some cutting boards shape and route them out for a perfect fit for more usable counter space and or course for use as cutting and chopping boards. I would also stick a garbage disposal on it too. Grind that food waste up and feed the fishes.
Gosh, Keith is a hardddd worker, along with all the kids help and Rene’, too, of course! Nice kitchen! A good sink makes all the difference!
Yeah!! Time for a break!! My Thursday fix after dropping kids at school
This bloke is a legend. Highly intelligent, capable, can make money, stoic, does a great job, raised smart, talented kids, humble and not a show pony like a lot of other men in their sailing channels.
Wow can’t believe how multi skilled Keith is!
keith always amazes me I would be so stressed doing 20 projects at once
Just watching all the other videos done by Luke, Jack, Glory, Finn and you guys, I think the best thing you ever did was the Med Crew. They all get on so well and have built friendships for life with your family. Luke and Glory especially seem like they have bonded to you guys. Safe travels wherever the future may take you and blessings to all.
Gosh! Sink too big.....engine too big.....Very testing.....Mr Fixit Keith is a God send!
Amazing watching the precision of engines in and out....held my breath a few times.
Sink looks amazing Renee! ❤ Cameras are great....
Ah.... almost like a new kitchen - "Mama's happy!!" Yay! Congrats!
Yanmar engines are reliable, we used them at farms they last forever.... love you all from saudi arabia
When Keith talks about the mechanics of the boat, all I hear is Charlie Browns teacher. Love your channel ❤️🩹
I think it’s great that you are doing so many “practical “ upgrades. These are things only experienced cruisers would think of. Great video today. Can’t wait to see the finished product.
After years!!!? Of watching y'all it still fascinates me how ,you Renee capture it all, Keith is a damn wizard 👍🇺🇸❤️
I’m am falling more and more in love with the idea of living like this when I retire
after watching them from day one I'm convinced you better have money coming in IF you do this... I guess IF you retire on $80K a year and have everything purchased and owe no one then you can do it... but these new engines and all that work? I'm guessing, $50K
Howdy, just an fyi, they make these straps specifically for under the sink. We found that with a giant turkey and full of water, our home sink was flexing too much. So if you fill that mini me tub full of water and notice any movement at all, you might want to further support it with the strapping (because that's a big sink to not have something across the middle to help support it.
I really like the led lights that Keith put in the Boat ⛵⛵⛵⛵
Quick tip for bilge pumps. Take a piece of thin sheet metal the size of a yard stick. Bend a right angle on the end. Mount bilge pump onto it. Mount sheet metal to side of bilge. Makes servicing it with engines much easier.
Renee, great job remodeling the Galley! And, Keith, you did a good job helping!
The kitchen sink is awesome, those new engines will be a great addition , thanks for sharing video of your boat work
My neighbor is a Yacht / High End luxury furniture designer. He always has people sending him things that need fixing from all over the world. I've always been so jelly of the fact that he travels ALL OVER THE WORLD to take measurements and design yacht spaces. He's ALWAYS going somewhere😊😊 You wouldn't believe just how much work he has. Of course he's built up a clientele for over 30 years now. I'd never thought there'd be such a need. But there sure is!!!
Thanks so much for sharing your lives with us! I'm living vicariously thru all your videos! LOL!!
Renee, I like the editing on the kitchen sink install.
Tip: cut a 45-60deg chamfer the front and back edge of your cushion track ends so you don’t catch toes on them. It hurts like a bugger and also makes sliding them in and out easier.
Renee I am so happy for you and your new kitchen and new sink LOL you know what they say if Mama's not happy nobody's happy
Corrosion-x is a god send. I'm a helicopter mechanic in Hawaii. We buy it by the gallon. A lot. 😅
Also. The first time on a sailing channel I've seen someone doing plumbing who actually knows the right way to put Teflon tape on 😂
Renee. For your sink use mineral oil so that you don’t get water spots. I have a black sink that’s granite and that’s what I use. I put it on about every 2 weeks.
Thanks for showing the behind the scenes, things don’t fit, and how you solved it!
Love the kitchen! What a difference. So interesting to see all the improvements Keith comes up with. Thanks for sharing. PS: we are all going to miss the kids.
Love the security cameras everywhere! Great idea for the saloon control panels and in the engine room !!!
Keep the new sink looking shiny use food grade mineral oil. Otherwise it will look old very fast.
Now you need a nylon cutting board that fits exactly on the lip of the sink. Nice sink install.
Your family has surely grown.
I love that sink and faucet! What an upgrade.
Renee, your sink and faucet are fabulous…I’m envious! With the tile addition it changes the whole galley vibe. Brilliant change. Keith, the Boss, continues to impress with his mechanical abilities. Great fun to watch. 👍❤️
Keith: If you're not already using fiber supplements - please start! I went from 260 Ibs (age 40) to 212 (age 59). It's not the only thing, but it's where it started for me. The rest is about controlling cravings and habits and that's way easier when your cravings and appetites are under control via better gut biome...I recommend Athletic Greens ($100/month) and LMNT electrolytes ($40/mth). And double your water intake...5+ pints/liters/day
And bend at your knees or suffer later in life
Keith is amazing…. I don’t know anybody so knowledgeable with all things… 🎉🎉🎉
The old sea doo boats used those shaft seals, called a carbon seal, they work well.
"put the engines in (and keep them in)" That's a good end note :)
Great video! We are in Salvador, Brazil, sailed from Mindelo, Cape Verde, being a good stop. You are going to regret not crossing the equator, respectfully suggesting an early January departure from Mindelo, making it to Salvador in time for Carnival in February. You should consider visiting the protected anchorage at Baia Do Aratu (S12.47, W38.27), approximately 10nm north of Salvador in the Bay of All Saints, Bahia, Brazil. It is shaped like a bowl, surrounded by low-lying hills, virtually undeveloped, probably the most protected anchorage we have ever been in, and the marina's community is safe.
Love the sink and tap, you can wash your hair in there as well.
You are a genius Keith, love watching you doing all jobs on the boat, clever man, well Renee is just amazing and so are your kids, work so well as a team. xxx
Great video of the progress! Sorry about the snag in fitting the engines but glad it could be overcome easily. Also glad you are working with such an attentive and accommodating group doing the work. The kitchen remodel looks really great, like that larger sink! Glad the upholstery work went well. It is amazing that after living with things for a period of time you come up with little modifications or changes that make daily life a little easier. The security camera will save a lot of steps in keeping track of all the areas of the boat again making life a little easier too. I hope that the project finishes without anymore glitches and you can be on your way out of any storms ways before the season starts. Looking forward to your next video!
I am excited for the galley sink install. We are in the process of sprucing up our interior as well. It makes a huge difference!
I love watching y’all do your maintenance and improvement projects on your boat. Instead of all those cameras and operational streamlining improvements, Renee can just have a new batch of kids to be the mates on Zatara. Manny F.
Always fun to see Kate involved. The first Zatara video I watched was because of Kate’s cute smile, before she had here teeth fixed (many years ago). She reminds me of my granddaughter. Cheers 👍
Keith has B.D. energy. we need more men like keith. Thanks playa!
God I wish I had the confidence Keith has. What a great man.
That boy (Keith) can do anything!!! Nice sink, as a cook I approve!!!
Enjoy your catamaran, that's the goal!
Great video. Looking forward to seeing both engines in.
The ole boat is looking very nice. Camera's were a good idea. Peace of mind and all that jazz. Bet you'll be glad when it's all over and you can straighten everything up the way you like it.
Two months of binge watching to go from episode 1 to present day!!it has been a pleasure to watch your journey in a condensed time line, and as a father of four myself you should be dead proud of the fine young adults your kids have become! They are a real testament to you both Kieth and Renee. Hopefully I will see you all out there on the water!!
Happy Mama equals Happy Captain & Crew!!
Empress how Keith is master for everything,he has so Mach patience and knowledge fixing everything, and ,also Rene she is like a professional news reporter ,and journalist ,and expert operator and editor,
It is interesting to see the inner workings of the boat.
An absolute marathon of projects. Your kitchen looks amazing btw.
Place is scrubbing up nicely.
You’re throwing everything into this boat reno, including the kitchen sink. LOL
Nice work.
I look forward to every Thursday!Thank you!
I've been watching Sailing Zatara since 2016 never missed an episode, each episode I watch I get more and more excited... Learning about new countries, new currencies, and new culturies
Keith is a genius! So many skills throughout so many trades. I WANT TO BE KEITH!!!! 😁
Nice to see all the upgrades to enable you two to sail when the kids are away.
I am at a certain age and waist size that kneeling, bending and doing anything under a sink is literally torture. Kudos to Keith for enduring the pain. 👍
You should buy a decent set of construction knee pads -- they'll turn 'impossible missions' into minor hassles.
What an improvement a sink and a few fake tiles can do! Keith is amazing at doing jobs. You are very lucky to have such a practical husband!
That new sink will be amazing! We have worked on boats with the round ones and they are not the worst worst but that big sink will be so much easier ❤ and looks great to the eyes 😊 looking forward to seeing the new engines get installed
The boat is getting so nice!
And I love the new things in the kitchen!
