Crazy hearing a tune like this and not seeing the rhythm section fighting for their lives
Lo sai
@@GtotheK You watching from Italy?
@@TurtleTurtlez yes bro, it means "you know it" which is basically agreeing with you, sorry if I confused ya lmao, I was messing around with a friend.
@@GtotheK No worries man lol
190 BPM... crazy stuff!
There's a reason why Pat Metheny gives shout outs to Pasquale Grasso
Love the medium swing rendition of this timeless classic!
Medium swing?
Looool
Ballad is more like it....
Yeah 400 bpm ballad
🤣🤣
Dang ... its just carzy how calm Russell is playing this as if it was 100bpm
Maybe the trick is his shirt? Uhm...
i n s a n e !
konsti_papa i think that He think is an violin ...don't you let him know that is bass so wee keep him duing what he is duing ...yo 4 real !
This is a weird thing to say, but Grasso's tone is just superb! Typically, tone goes out the window at a tempo like that, but his tone and touch are magic here. So smooth, mellow, controlled, and balanced. No plinkiness, loss of control, sloppy timing... at that tempo, that's insane. I have never heard anyone play guitar at a tempo like that with such control and touch.
I couldn’t agree more! Metheny’s playing on All the Things You Are on the record Question and Answer also comes to mind - he has such a great touch while absolutely burnin’. Feels like he could have easily added another 50bpm without breaking a sweat!
I think his economy picking style helps with that, an insane virtuoso in any case
This the most gangsta thing i have seen in my life
400bpm!!! Smoke coming from Russel Halls bass 🔥 how can he look so relaxed?
think 200 bpm?
300 I thinj
Flawless technique. Textbook. Oh...and CHOPS
190 bpm
what are you people on about lmao its 400bpm, bass line is doing quarter notes
He later explained that unfortunately the recording day he was unable to play it at 600 bpm because the neck of the guitar had not yet been fireproofed due to the speed of the finger. So it went down to 400. 🤣🤣
Bassist in Berserk Mood.
Everybody in Berserk Mood.
@@taf44tt8io I mean so fast, so stunning, yeah, locomotive is the right word
Really love when piano solo ended and drummer started solo with eye like ‘shit, my turn’ LOL
True
I think the world have never seen someone play the guitar like Pasquale Grasso, just genius.
@Kevin Lynch I’ve heard a couple of his tunes but will definitely check the one you suggested, thanks!
He’s one of the best I’ve heard. But so is Tosin Abasi. Check him out. And his band, Animals As Leaders
He plays like Tal farlow
They have. He's a monster to be sure ad I absolutely adore his playing. but look up some of bop guitarists who he is in the tradition of... start with the inimitable Tal Farlow. Tal, who was self taught and started relatively late, was an absolute beast at these kinds of tempos. There's a rendition of "Lover" that he does, that is blistering. Not as outright fast as this but pretty damned close. Listen to his lines.. ruclips.net/video/xDM-FfPEeXA/видео.html
@@blacjazzz awesome I will listen to him thank you!
To play such tune, at this tempo, and showing the amount of Jazz Language that both Pasquale and Emmet display is just ridiculous. Also, its hard to see people playing these crazy fast tempos nowadays. This is just amazing
Kyle, guy taking a long solo to give the rest of the band some time to breath. MVP
Reminds me of the blistering Jazz Jam Sessions of old but with such poise and panache!!!
Oh, and for our next trick, we'll all walk barefoot over hot coals to 6 choruses of "Loverman"
lol
I know right
Pasquale is a generational talent.
Thats about 380 - 400 bpm, good god!!
430 bro !!!
192 bpm :)
@@AIKIDOSILVERDALE you halved it man
It has some fluctuation to it, but it's pretty much bang on 385.
I’m amazed that they were able to keep the energy while playing it so slow.
When there is just too much heavenly musical talent & genuis in one room, the Spirit just takes over and let the Church say, "AMEN!!!"
1:23 Emmet's eyes: "Will I have to solo after this!?"
holy crap, he delivers too
@@georgehiggins1320 Oh he sure does!!
Just another reason why I am up until 2.30am listening live in UK every week. ❤️👏❤️👏❤️👏❤️
If you're within a reasonable distance of London, Pasquale will be at Ronnie Scott's on 6th July with Samara Joy!
@@Bennyplays His website says that he and Samara will be coming out with an album soon.
@@martinbreslow1401 Yes, Samara's album is out on 9th July on Whirlwind Recordings. samarajoy-whirlwind.bandcamp.com/album/samara-joy
Finally a jazz guitarist receiving the recognition they have earnt and deserve; just a shame they have to be quite literally navigating around the neck at mindblowing speed on a barely attainable tempo. I don't think even the minority of people could comprehend the precision that Grasso has. What a musician. What a mind. What a shining example of pure hard-work. Fly away Pasquale!!!
This is superhuman bass playing
I got to hear Pasquale live at unf a few years back. He performed and gave a master class. Truly one of the most inspiring musical experiences I’ve ever had.
same here at daytona state college. i didnt bring my guitar and he let me play his! i tried to decline but he kept insisting. he was an extremely warm, kind person. i still flex about that experience. it was a year or two ago, so he may have been on the same circuit. i saw that video of him and barry green playing (billys bounce?? cant remember) were you there for that?
Shepherd's Chapel Network !!!!!!! Pastor Murray is an Anointed Servant of GOD who teaches the Word of GOD with Authority!!!!!!!
Dig all the Bird quotes.
Absolutely relaxing
:)
Nothing about that was relaxing. It was a literal shot 💉 of espresso into my veins.
Maybe if you’re on coke
I just stared at the screen with tears in my eyes for this entire video
Jesus, what incredible force of nature IS this? I need to keep up on the newer generations of jazz musicians.
I didn’t expect it, but now I’m happy.
Wow that drummer so clear the form and melody. Wow just wow.
Man Russel was freakin cookin.
This is probably the fastest version of this song that'd I've ever heard 😮💨
The bass is insane 😅
That bass player 🤯🤯🤯
That bass though!
Art Tatum meets George Van Eps, beautiful . The whole band kills it!
That was the best guitar solo I've ever heard on that song!
drummer is such a badass
Yeah, hes becoming 1 of my favs, still Mr.tain watts is a monster, always smiling, kyle reminds me of him, yeah Tain throws bombs out as far as bass drum and cymbals!!!!!
this guitar player is unbelevable, with emmets group the best
This has to be one of the greatest guitar performances of the 21st century, and of all time!
Wooooow this is Tal Farlow!!!
Holy Moly. Shred lines of bebop fury!
Emmet listened to Pasquale (whom I adore for his comping Samara) exactly, and added something - so fine.
This just put a huge smile on my face. Wow. Tremendous. Swing and drive and groove
incredible playthrough; the bass is an absolute runner.
That might the fastest tempo i ever heard!!!!!, plus 8min!!!!😳🙄🤯,this is becoming go to🤩
Wow!
4.20 - Emmet taking it to the next level absolutely amazing!!! 👏
Why is the drummer staring out the window? He waiting for the pizza delivery guy to show up? LOL! Smoking band! Great performance. Love it.
Hahaha
Lol I've got a cousin who is drummer. when he plays straight ahead and he turns his head to the side, look out!
Drummer face
Wow! Just wow!
3:27 Nice Parker quote!
Damn! That pianist is killer
I guess i have a new favourite guitar player
1:20 Even Emmet was like "This guy's DIFFERENT"
Guess Roy Clark isn't the only one with "lightning fingers. This whole group has them!!
4:16 is so slick
Holy.................McMoly!
Some people are just REEEAALLY good at stuff :)
Bro that’s not a walking bass line, that’s a SPRINTING bass line
Underrated comment

MIRACULOUS - Nothing less! THANK YOU from Rio de Janeiro.
Imagine how startled I was when autoplay took me here from listening to folk/country music
This is great btw, good lord can yall play!
Pasquale is the best jazz guitar in the world
Watch and despair, metal shredders.
Burnin ! 🔥🔥
I’m imagining this group playing Giant Steos with Coltrane, that would have been epic!
Gaping mouth.. He handles it... And Russell Hall, everything seems to easy to him. You never need to worry. He is the stable cliff to lean on.
I smile each time I watch this superb performance. Woooooow!!!!!!!🤳
Emmet went crazy !
❤❤❤
BRAVO-LOVE YOU GUYS!!!
6:30 super mario quote is genius
😂
Heard both at Ubria Jazz. Fantastic experience!
What a surprise! That's Professor from La Casa De Papel playing guitar.
Both Emmett and Pasquale perform with singer Samara Joy.
All pros, Grasso shines...
I think they broke some safety regulations with this tempo 😃
Lol f.....yeah
Hahaha

Bravissimi!
uauuuuuuuuu che spettacolo entusiasmante!!!!!!,,,grazie.
all musicians are great and gave high technique and taste proof, both soloist and rhythm section.
I do really appreciate the bebop flowing into solos both for Mr. Grasso and for Mr. Cohen, among the many citations i really appreciated the Bird's one at ruclips.net/video/IQ7y9D_gi2k/видео.html
Insanely brilliant
Wild bunch. Veyr nice. Tks
